I was scared, it's not every day a blind earth pony goes to her first day of school and I've been getting bullied every time my mom turns her back. Mom apparently saw it as opportunity because she said, "Your first day of school isn't every day you know." She just kept on pushing it and when my mom pushes it she always gets it, so I gave up. After a few minutes after our conversation mom saw a young filly around my age jogging up the hill that went to the school. "Hey, why don't you go talk to her?" She began muzzling me up a hill, towards who ever she was talking about. "Why sweetie, my daughter's blind I was hoping you could help her on her way to school," of course she had to just go right ahead and blab out to the entire pony universe that I was blind. "Sure, my name is Berry Mintcake I'm eight. What's your name?" "I... I..... I'm.... my name is...... Mid... Midnight River." "I Like that name." I felt my mom leaving me with Berry Mintcake. "What kind of pony are you?" "What do you mean what am I? Can't you see, I'm a unicorn" "I can't see." I already felt like I was getting mocked, like people were oblivious to me. "Oh, yea, sorry, I'm forget a lot when I'm excited." For the first time I noticed that her heart was beating faster than it should ever have to. Don't ask how, I just do. Mom says that it is because I can't see. "What do you look like?" I felt stupid and awkward, this isn't how you meet or greet someone. I know that my mom has pale blue and sky blue colored mane, as well as a tale. Her coat is a faded soft red and wears blue glasses and beautiful amber eyes. I had asked her often before. My brother though, he never answered me when I asked and when I asked mom, she always was busy. I think that he is jut like mom but a light forest green and no glasses. For some strange reason though I know what all these colors look like even tough I've never seen them since I was born blind. "Well... I have a white coat, and strawberry pink maneband." (Hairband) "Minty green hair and tale. I have emerald colored eyes, but I hate green so I am not bragging. Oh, I almost forgot the tips of my tail is strawberry pink too. All I could say was that she was hyper "So..... ready for school?" "Yes, why wouldn't I be?" she began to walk away but came back as I struggled to follow the sound of her hoofstep (footsteps) and said, "You need help?" I looked at her with hopeful eyes, well I think I did. "Yes please." "Pokey Lokey!" I'm guessing she tried to nudge me the way mom did but it didn't turn out what quite as I expect she wanted it to be. "Hey, I like our knapsack, but what is on it?" "I don't know, remember? I can't see." "Oh, yeah I forgot," She paused, "okay," "Let's go," Maybe just maybe I'll make it through school. "Nope," I hung my head hoping that we would get there soon so that we could get it over with. I wasn't annoyed I just didn't want to make a bad impression on Berry Mintcake"Oh wait!" my head shot up, "there it is" "Awesome!" I began to pick up the pace "Can we hurry?" I was so nervous but excited, once a pony at the Sugarcube Corner called it nervicited "Berry, can we pick up the pace?" "Sure thing!" we began to hurry off not in the fastest pace but more of a gallop. "Race yo..." she paused I knew why but didn't wanna say that I did in front of her. "Never mind." "It's no big" I didn't want to but I had to, it was the truth and keeping your mouth shut is the same as a lie, right? "We're here!" She was bouncing up and down and every time she did so there was a boing that let me know. "Hey there is three other mares coming over here, Midnight!" she was excited, I wondered if I would've been as excited as her if I could see. "Cool!!!" What now? sorry but I don't get Berry Mintcake "IT'S THE CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS!!!!!" oh, that explains it "EEEEEE" The cutie mark crusaders are amazing, they may have bad luck but they are awesome! "Hi ya'll" That was Applebloom it had to be, who else would talk like that outside of the Apple family? "Hi, I'm Berry Mintcake!" "Hi," I said shyly. "What's your name? I'm Scootaloo and as you can see these are my pals, Applebloom and Sweetie Belle" Scootaloo said in her normal kind, yet tough a voice. I didn't know what to say, but what I did know was that if I blew this then I wouldn't be able to make any other friends except Berry "Midnight River," I had heard them all over town but never could picture them, "I... would?...can?... oh never mind" I said drawing out every word till I gave up. "What? Ya'll need a tour?" Applebloom said. "I... I... I don't suppose you could tell me what you look like?" "What do you mean? What are you? Blind? Did Diamond Tiara put you up to this? Do you.." I had to tune her out but, great I blew it. "SCOOTALOO!!!!!! ARE YOU BLIND? SHE IS SHE IS BLIND SO PUT A HOOF IN IT AND STOP ACCUSING HER!!!!!!!!" Sweetie Belle the kindest one of them and had just yelled louder than Berry when Berry saw them? "That's why you flinched when Scootaloo said, as you can see," Applebloom stated thinking out loud. Sweetie Belle's heart didn't slow down as her voice had, "Sorry about that," it however didn't work in fact she made it worse. "I knew it! I just knew it!" I turned around and ran, following the imprints of Berry's and my hoofprints, all I wanted to do was run away. When I reached a hill I figured it was the one me and my mom introduced me to Berry. I had stopped trying to remember where mom and I came up it. "Left!" I said thinking out loud. I ran down the left side of the hill, and I finally reached my house. It wasn't more different than any other except we had a mat, mom thought it would help me remember were we do live so I won't get confused. I can't go in I thought to myself mom will make me go back. Threw the marketplace and past the famous Fluttershy's cottage and into some sort of forest. that no one went in. I think I've heard something close to a pony but it's hoof prints were heavier. I thought it was peaceful, so I never knew why the others never came in here. I had found this place so long ago, I had this sense that was almost calling me, I followed it. I knew that my mom wouldn't let me out so I climbed out my window and tried to follow it. I don't even know if I followed it but what I do know is that I wound up in the forest somehow. Right now however I was going to a hidden lake that I found on that first trip. Well I fell into it more than found, but it didn't have a fast current so it was peaceful. The sun made it less peaceful but it was soothing. "Midnight!" though the voice was gentle it scared me half to death, it was Fluttershy. Chp 3- Fluttershy?What Fluttershy knows me? was my first thought but, I had no idea how, she controlled the element of kindness. Twilight had just become an alicorn and she knew me? I've never even talked to her. No matter what I came straight out of the forest, I didn't want anyone to find it so I decided to take a loop around her chicken coop. "Yes Fluttershy?" I said quietly and terrified out of my wits. "Oh, ummm.." More quietly than I said before I asked "Yes?" I was getting worried so I began messing with my pigtails and my bow "Hey! Midnight!" It was Scootaloo, and she had three other ponies with her, I'm guessing Sweetie Belle, Applebloom, and Berry. Their hooves were beating loudly enough that I could gallop over to them, but I just ran the opposite way again. "Midnight River!" I skidded to a stop again right before I was in the forest. Did Fluttershy know something? "Yes?" I said trotting over to her hoping that it wouldn't be awkward silence again. "I don't.... what I mean is....." She was speaking in such a quiet whisper I could barely hear her. What was out of the ordinary was the fact that, her heart was even practically silenced which it shouldn't, which made me speak out of turn. "Are you okay? You don't sound very good." "This is how I normally talk," "No I don't mean that," I hated talking about my hearing ability, but I had to or else I would be lying. "What I mean is tha..." "Midnight! Come on we need to go to school." Berry pushed me in the direction we were suppose to go. "You should probably get going" Fluttershy whispered I wanted to tell Fluttershy but Scootaloo didn't give me the chance and Berry guided me, "I'm so sorry, I had no idea," I was trying to tune her out so I could here Fluttershy's heart beat but I couldn't. We were to far away and it was to faint. I drew my attention away from it and focused on what the others were saying. "So do you forgive me?" "What do you think?" I answered darkly turning away from her. I waited a few moments before I turned around and said "Just kidding!" with a giant smile spreading across my face. We all started laughing hard. It was the hardest I've ever laughed in my life. School was going to be great. Applebloom was the first one to get ahold of her senses and asked "Sweetie Belle? How did ya know tha' Midnight was blind?" She whispered trying to hide the question. "It's in her eyes" Sweetie Belle said not as quietly. "I heard that!" I said making my eyes tear up, but letting my self burst out laughing after a minute or two. "It's okay you don't have to hide your question from me," "You scared us Midnight!" Sweetie Belle said accusing me but started to giggle afterwards. "Hey, you're funny!" "Thanks, anywho.... are we almost there yet?" "Yeah, I can see it." Scootaloo replied. "Have you gotten your schedule yet?" Sweetie Belle said trying to start a conversation. "Sorry, no." I was feeling like a failure. "Ya'll don't have to be sorry, if anypony should be sorry it should be Scoots" "HEY!" I said I was sorry a million times," She paused before saying, "I'm sorry. Kay now make that a million and one!" "So...." Hopefully this time it would go smoothly if I asked what the looked like. "Yeah?" Applebloom said. "Oh," Sweetie Belle said understanding, "We never did tell you what wee looked like did we?" "No" "Well I have a pink and light lavender curly mane with a white coat and I'm a unicorn! Applebloom has a pale coat that is the same color that her sister's mane is but her mane is cherry. Oh and she always wears a bow lighter shade bow like yours!" Scootaloo cut in again, "And I'm a awesome pegasus, I may have cut my mane by accident but I don't care. Anyways I'm orange but my mane is purple." I just opened my mouth to say cool but Scootaloo asked, Hey how would you know what these colors are anyway?" "Well......" "Well, well, well" great interrupted again. This time it was a new bratty voice coming from the black empty void. "What would you know, Diamond Tiara" Scootaloo said in the most the darkish way she could say. Chp 4- New Gal"Hey, I see you've made some new trash friends." her heart was racing super fast which meant she had ran all the way here, or she might have been hurt. "Are you okay Diamond Tiara?" "Yes," but her heart just kept beating faster which in my book or any other book it meant a lie was being told. "I don't want to be late now do I my helpless pegasus, I better, how do you put it? Take off!" and with that she snickered off. I tried to give her a sympathetic look, but... "Hey! What did you do that for Midnight?" Scootaloo had scared me. "Do what be nice?" I was confused. "Yes!" Sweetie Belle said, "What did you think? She had just mocked you and you asked her if she was okay?" "Ya'll let's hear her out instead of shoutin' at her!" At least one of them is loyal I shook my head violently trying to get the thought out of my head but it stuck with me. "So why did you do it then?" "I... I..... I... I just thought..... " Berry began to trot ahead nudging me towards the path Diamond Tiara took. "Does it really matter, lets just head to school," she thought for a minute, "Anyway she's gone right?" "Yeah I guess so." Scootaloo sounded upset though. It was a longer walk then you would think. When we finally got there we all headed to the office, bell rung out saying we had entered the room, "CAKE!!" "Huh?" all of us asked Berry, but we got distracted as the mare at the desk got us your schedules. "May I ask what classes we have?" "Oh your Midnight River? I'm Mr. Specter I was told that you were blind and needed you assign you to somepony." "Assign me?" "Well of course, we'll have somepony to guide you every other day and a different one the others." Obviously Berry was getting bored "Can I do that?" "Hey!" Applebloom shouted, "Maybe that's our cutie mark!" they, in unison shouted, "Special ed helping cutie marks!" Next thing I knew everypony kept shouting and asking if they could be the helping when MR. specter kept telling them that he had already picked one out for me. I simply slouched into the corner and tried to block out the noise. It wasn't till the bell rang out once again, did the talking cease "Hi, my i get my schedule please?" "Oh, why, yes," everypony shot up to look all nice and neat. "May I ask what you're names are? ALL of you." Applebloom slipped towards me and whispered, "She's glarin' at us" She nudged me towards where I had stood originally. "I'm Applebloom, this is Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle and our two newest recruits Berry Mintcake, and you already know Midnight River, we're the Cutie Mark Crusaders!" When she had said my name I felt a soft breeze hitting me, I can only assume she had motioned to me. "Are you sure?" I didn't think school would be this easy. However there was Diamond Tiara that got me worried. "Sure, you guys seem nice and you don't have yer cutie marks yet." Scootaloo answered in reply, knocking me out of my thoughts, "You aren't however officially yet but you be official after school, kay?" I only nodded my head in agreement but Berry kept bouncing up and down shouting yes over and over again. After she had introduce everypony and we had asked our questions, this other filly squealed in excitement but took deep breaths trying to calm herself down. Once she did get a hold on herself, she stated, "I'm Light Secret" no matter how calm she acted she was super excited, her heartbeat had give it away, heck she might be more excited than Berry was. "Well, speak of the devil," I heard the rubbing of some paper when Mr. Specter continued, "Light Secret, you have are the student aide for Midnight River." "I don't understand. What do you mean?" "You see, Midnight river is, well..." I began to shuffle my hooves and look down, it is a really bad habit of mine, "She's..." "It's okay" I said refusing to look up. "Midnight River, is blind" As he said this I lifted up my head as if to be looking at her expression, "You will be helping her get through her classes, in other words, you are her eyes." "I'm sorry," Light Secret said in a sympathetic voice. "Sorry for what?" I said as cheerful as I could. "May I ask what you look like though?" "Sure, I'm a unicorn and I guess have a raspberry red coat, a bright yellow mane that is wavy, and light gray eyes." She paused as though she was in thought. "I don't know how that would help you since you don't know what these colors are." "Strange thing actually," How are they going to react? I kept playing different scenarios in my mind but didn't care. "I've been blind since birth but I was born knowing these colors. So I have a pretty close idea of colors." "Cool!" Light Secret said. After that there was a very awkward silence between us aside from the crinkling of papers. Mr. Specter broke it after the paper crinkling had stopped. "Well, would you look at that." "What?" Berry said anxious to say something. "You all have the same classes except for electives" "Awesome, that's like a sign!" "I know right?" "Right!" everypony was so excited but I had this dreadful feeling, it was scaring me. Something was going happen. Something soon. Chp 5- A New FriendI listened carefully to each of their hearts to make sure none of them were.... well something. I don't know how to explain it but there is always a difference in heart beats, but I can tell something different. As I said I don't know how to explain it, but, mainly because I don't know. There is no way. I thought to myself, they were ALL different except for one who's I couldn't pin point, but that right there was different. I ignored it thinking that, things were messing with my head. Setting that thought aside. We all left the office Light Secret gently pushing me along. "I'm sorry but what re all my classes? No one's told me yet." The sound of hooves stepping on the grass stopped. "Oh, I'm sorry!" Light said. "I'm suppose to be your guidance and I don't even know were I'm going!" I shook my head telling her it was okay but she continued. "I'm so wrapped up and now school is going," her voice drew out near the end. "Wrapped up with what?" I asked not trying to be nosy but just curious. "Siblings," she said, her voice was calm and her heart normal but I felt something jump at me, "Magic" it said. It sure sounded like Light's voice but it wasn't hers. "No it's not, is it?" her heart stopped for a moment then got back on track and sped up. "What is?" I heard her hair thump down only suggesting she was upset. "Magic" she said glumly. "It can't be" I say finding myself mumbling it out loud. Applebloom lost her loyal streak though, "Waddya mean it can't be? And how did you know she wasa lyin'!? I couldn't even tell!" Well I thought to myself, there goes that theory, laugh at me if you want but I had a gut feeling that we were all different in some way. Each way however was unique. Pushing that thought aside I shook my head and opened my mouth to speak but I was interrupted by a slamming door and a squee. "OHMYGOSH! OHMYGOSH! OHMYGOSH! OHMYGOSH!" I'm sorry but I'm getting tired by all the squees going about. "Your... yo..you're the Cutie Mark Crusaders!" "Yeah!" Scootaloo said from behind me. "She's Applebloom, this is Sweetie Belle, Berry Mintcake, Midnight, Light Secret and I'm Scootaloo or Scoots, whichever you prefer." I listened to the new pony's heartbeat carefully. It was weird too, filled with both hate and kindness, how about we just go with weird. "Can I be a Cutie Mark Crusader too?!" she asked eagerness. "Sure You have to answer one question correctly before though." Scots said. "Teasing but there is a question that you need to answer," The nameless pony's heart began beating faster, both of fear and excitement. "What's you name?" Scoots asked gleefully. "Oh!" she said in reluctance. "Clouded Shimmer!" The ground vibrated, I can only suppose she was jumping like Berry had been just, not as fast. "Am I in then?" "Not officially but after school come with us!" Sweetie Belle said in excitement. "I have a question." I asked, even though I couldn't see I cold feel all eyes on me. "Wha... What do.... What do you possibly..." my voice trailed off "Can... Can you tell me what you look like?" "Of course," she said understandingly. "I have a black coat and a teal mane with green sprout colored streaks, and pale teal eyes." She paused. "I suppose it's you I'm aiding Tuesdays and Thursdays?" I nodded. "Cool, I can't wait!" We turned around and began walking "May I ask where we are going?" I asked as politely as possible. "Of course. We're going to class silly filly!" We didn't have to walk for long till we entered a room. "Hey Spoon! Do you see what I see?" It was Diamond Tiara's voice. "Yeah!" My guess is that, that voice belongs to Spoon, or whoever that was. "Seven blank flanks in a pear tree!" Chapter 6: Trouble"Diamond Tiara! Silver Spoon!" another voice came from the abyss, "How dare you speak to the new students like that, or any fillies for that matter!" I swallowed, if there were other fillies that followed Diamond's every move I was in big trouble. "Sorry, Ms. Cherilee" "Sorry." "It's okay, If I see any more of this behavior though you are staying in for recess." The first voice said. "Well, come here, your late, we've already done this so, " Our teacher began, I felt a soft push come from Light Secret. "Please introduce yourselves," She paused, "Please state your name and something about yourself." "I'm Berry Mintcake!" Berry said with excitement. "and... I... look at life a half cup full?" She said making her last statement sound more like a question. "So your optimistic", Ms. Cherrilee stated. "I guess" She said in her normal perky way. "I'm Clouded Shimmer but I like being called Cloud." Clouded Shimmer said taking the stand, "and I... I love the way sunsets color the clouds." I felt Light Secret's muzzle pull away from me as she spoke. "I'm Light Secret and I hate people in my privacy." her voice was flat and to the point. I had the feeling that she was talking about the magic thing that I somehow knew. I heard the hoofsteps and felt all eyes on me. Now I know I'm blind but I knew that the eyes of every pony in the room were on me. As the tension grew my neck felt to get swollen. "I... I'm... I.. My name... i... is.. Mid...Mi... Midnight River and... I.. I'm blind." I choked on all most every word. There was silence in the room, deathly silence. "I think you'll do great things in the future just like the famous Snowdrop did." "But she was a pegasus, I'm just a regular old earth pony." I felt a muzzle on my back and proceeded where I was being pushed towards. Turns out it was an open seat, as I sat down I heard snickering behind me I turned around to where they were coming from but there were more and more, the snickers were surrounding me. "STOP IT!! PLEASE!!" I shouted I had a tiring day already I did not want anymore trouble. "Midnight River, stop what? Is somepony bothering you?" I listened, no pony had been laughingor snickering, whatsoever, my active imagination was getting the better of me, again. "No, I'm sorry." "Well then lets continue our lesson shall we?" Mrs. Cherilee said in an asking manner, but just went straight to teaching. We continued from the part when Snowdrop was thinking back when her mom was talking to her about the stars and how they twinkled. After the lesson was over we were dismissed to recess, I got up out of my chair and waited for Light Secret to push me towards the door. She never did so I decided I could do anything a pony with eyesight could do. I attempted to walk out the door but I couldn't figure out where it was. I walked straight and hit a desk straight in my chest. I ran through the room knocking stuff over and falling this way and that way. I stumbled over chairs, table legs, bags and books. I gave up sat down but instead of the flat floor there was a tack.I felt my head hit steps as I tumbled down stairs. My own heart was racing the next thing I knew I was face flat on the ground. Beneath my muzzle was soft green grass, it was usually comforting when it was wet but in this case nothing could comfort my tortured soul. Laughs every which way, there was laughing and it was not my overactive imagination this time. Diamond Tiara's voice entered my brain. "Watch it!! Can't you see where you're going??" I opened my mouth to remind her that I couldn't see but she spoke up. "Oh, wait I forgot you're blind!" Many voices chuckled in the background until her piercing voice came through again. "I bet you'll never earn your cutie Mark after all I don't know of any earth pony that cutiemark without using their eyesight!" After that all the. Noise had stopped because every pony knew she was right. It is impossible for any pony to receive a cutiemark without having a talent for something, and me, I don't have any talent. "You'll never amount to anything." Another voice said with a wave of others following. Most of them were referring to my lack of sight. Others just decided to say awful things. No one pony try to defend me I was alone, I was nothing. So I decided to stand up for myself, I was not gonna give in. "At least I won't be anything like you guys!" I paused grabbing at every ounce of courage I could call on from within me. "Bullies, mean, horrible, despicable, and try to take dreams from any pony and shatter them!" Remarkably every pony shut up, well, it was remarkable till I heard a heartbeat from behind me. Ms. Cheerlie no doubt. "Midnight River I did not expect this you." "B... bu.... I... it...they.... but" my mouth wouldn't let anything that made sense come out. "Go to the office please. Come back when you're ready to be kind." I hung my head and feet and headed towards the office to see Mr. Specter. I know that the walk was short but I can get a little paranoid. Well, no, not paranoid but over worried I guess you could say. When I reached a building I searched the walls for a door. It took some time but I eventually found the door but when I did I grabbed the door hoovdle (handle) and prepared for anything I would be waiting for me, meaning trouble. I once again started searching for something, but this time it wasn't for an object. it instead was for a pong. "Hello Midnight River." I jumped at the sound of my own name. I of course recognized the voice, it was Mr. Specter. "What are you looking for?" he paused before continuing, "Where's Light Secret?" I had turned towards him trying to make sure he didn't feel awkward. "She got distracted, it is okay actually, I'm use to it." I answered, myself distraught. As I heard a quill scratching on paper I suddenly realized what he was talking about. "It's not her fault though!!!! I sat far away from her and most of the other fillies in class!" "Well dear I don't know, but, if you say so." I let out a heavy sigh that I had some how managed to hide from Mr. Specter. "Why are you in here any way?" he asked. "Great," I muttered to myself "Well.... I got in trouble." "How?" He asked, great now he'll think that I'm a bratty little filly that uses disabilities to her advantages and gets what ever she wants I thought to myself "Itoldagroupoffilliesthattheyweremeanbutmyactualwordswereabitharsher." (Pinkie Pie fast) I had said it really fast with my head hung low hoping he wouldn't understand, but, he obviously understood every word perfectly. He didn't however react in any of the ways I thought he might. He simply asked, "What were, your actual words Midnight River?" I looked up at him with curiosity but told him what he asked, "I think my exact words were, 'At least I won't be anything like you guys! Bullies, mean, horrible, despicable, and try to take dreams from any pony and shatter them!'" I paused for a moment before continuing, "Sorry" I answered and apologized in reply. "It looks like you're not ready for school quiet yet," I stood frozen as those words fell out of his mouth. That was exactly what all the fillies had said, just more kindly. "Maybe you could try home school?" He had suggested in the most kindest way. "I have tried, I just can't bear to be stuck in one place for m.... my whole life." I was beginning to stutter again. "Mom ne...never let me ou.... out of the house. I had to... be.... beg her. I felt tears beginning to form but I held the back just long enough. Just long enough for him to say, "Okay." I jumped o him and whispered, "Thank you." I heard a heavy sigh right before he began to loosely shake me off. "You may wanna go home for the rest of today as I sort this, misunderstanding out." I let out a sigh as well and nodded, "Okay, bye see you tomorrow." "Bye." Chp - My BrotherAs I left the school I decided I wouldn't go to home till I would've normally gone if I left school at the regular time. In other words I didn't want my mom or my brother to figure out that I was sent home on my first day of school. They would wring my neck if they knew. My heart was racing so I decided that I should go to the forest and maybe swim a bit. My ears drooped a bit when I remembered Fluttershy's heart beat. It was strange. She was acting like she usually does but, does that mean her heart is like that all the time? It's just scary. Then I thought back to the office this morning. The heart rates of all of them, were off. Strange. My thoughts were interrupted when I bumped into somepony. "Oh, I'm s.. sor.... sorry." "Midnight River!" A harsh, rugged voice shouted at me. My brother. Now, I would like to say that I talked to him like any normal sibling, or give him a hoofbump, instead, I ran. "Get back here!" He yelled at me. I'm clearly not the best runner when it comes to long distance. My brother on the other hoof was really good at it. I ran towards the forest, mindful of where I was headed. Despite that I happened to run into some sort of small, wooden structure it had collapsed underneath me. When I placed a hoof on one of the beams, it was soft and moist with some warm and slightly thick liquid on it. "Midnight!" Right Star said. He was about three years older than me, making him two years older than the Cutiemark Crusaders. "Why aren't you in school?!" He said harshly. Picking me out of the rubble with his wing. As he did that I felt pain rush up my front right hoof so I ignored it and took of some of the weight on it. "I...... I...." I managed. "You got into trouble didn't you?" He stated. "Mom's going to be so mad." "Umm... Excuse me," a recognizable voice said, "Why aren't you in school?" It was none other than the element of kindness herself. Again? That particular day was becoming a little to weird for me. "If I'm correct you have a placement test today Left Star." "It's Right Star! My name is RIGHT STAR THE SECOND!!!" He yelled angrily. Only moments later did the mood quickly changed. "I'm sorry Ms. Fluttershy, I didn't mean to snap, I've been having a bad day, sorry to have intruded, we'll leave." I could've sworn that her heart beat got slower than it was earlier. I pushed myself in front of my brother, "After we fix the....." I paused for a moment, I didn't know what it was that I had ran into. "the thing I ran into by accident." I finished. Well, her heart beat got faster when she giggled for some reason. That's not what happens, at least I don't think it does. Who knows, I'm only a filly. I thought to myself. "I'd appreciate that. I'll go get the instructions." Star stood by my side as he helped me get out of the rubble of the collapsed... thing. "Midnight!" He yelled. "You're bleeding! You know you aren't suppose to run. You're blind for crying out loud! You could've gotten seriously hurt. I lifted my right hoof and touched it. "So this is blood?" I asked after feeling the warm, and sticky goo. It hurt but I smiled, "Cool." Star bonked me on the head and told me that it wasn't cool, it was bad. Not much later, Fluttershy came back and she raced to get bandages for me when my brother told her about my injury. He began setting up the structure, which turned out to be a chicken coup, as Fluttershy bandaged my leg. Little did I know that tomorrow would set me on a path that would change me for the rest of my life.
Chp 1- Berry Mintcake (edited)"But Mom, do have to go to school?" I was scared, it's not every day a blind earth pony goes to her first day of school and I've been getting bullied every time my mom turns her back. Mom apparently saw it as opportunity because she said, "Your first day of school isn't every day you know." She just kept on pushing it and when my mom pushes it she always gets it, so I gave up. After a few minutes after our conversation mom saw a young filly around my age jogging up the hill that went to the school. "Hey, why don't you go talk to her?" She began muzzling me up a hill, towards who ever she was talking about. "Why sweetie, my daughter's blind I was hoping you could help her on her way to school," of course she had to just go right ahead and blab out to the entire pony universe that I was blind. "Sure, my name is Berry Mintcake I'm eight. What's your name?" "I... I..... I'm.... my name is...... Mid... Midnight River." "I Like that name." I felt my mom leaving me with Berry Mintcake. "What kind of pony are you?" "What do you mean what am I? Can't you see, I'm a unicorn" "I can't see." I already felt like I was getting mocked, like people were oblivious to me. "Oh, yea, sorry, I'm forget a lot when I'm excited." For the first time I noticed that her heart was beating faster than it should ever have to. Don't ask how, I just do. Mom says that it is because I can't see. "What do you look like?" I felt stupid and awkward, this isn't how you meet or greet someone. I know that my mom has pale blue and sky blue colored mane, as well as a tale. Her coat is a faded soft red and wears blue glasses and beautiful amber eyes. I had asked her often before. My brother though, he never answered me when I asked and when I asked mom, she always was busy. I think that he is jut like mom but a light forest green and no glasses. For some strange reason though I know what all these colors look like even tough I've never seen them since I was born blind. "Well... I have a white coat, and strawberry pink maneband." (Hairband) "Minty green hair and tale. I have emerald colored eyes, but I hate green so I am not bragging. Oh, I almost forgot the tips of my tail is strawberry pink too. All I could say was that she was hyper "So..... ready for school?" "Yes, why wouldn't I be?" she began to walk away but came back as I struggled to follow the sound of her hoofstep (footsteps) and said, "You need help?" I looked at her with hopeful eyes, well I think I did. "Yes please." "Pokey Lokey!" I'm guessing she tried to nudge me the way mom did but it didn't turn out what quite as I expect she wanted it to be. "Hey, I like our knapsack, but what is on it?" "I don't know, remember? I can't see." "Oh, yeah I forgot," She paused, "okay," "Let's go," Maybe just maybe I'll make it through school. Author's Note I will be making these edits as soon as i can. -Battlebub
Chp 2- SchoolGreat, so far so good, please oh please don't bully me "can you see it yet?" "Nope," I hung my head hoping that we would get there soon so that we could get it over with. I wasn't annoyed I just didn't want to make a bad impression on Berry Mintcake"Oh wait!" my head shot up, "there it is" "Awesome!" I began to pick up the pace "Can we hurry?" I was so nervous but excited, once a pony at the Sugarcube Corner called it nervicited "Berry, can we pick up the pace?" "Sure thing!" we began to hurry off not in the fastest pace but more of a gallop. "Race yo..." she paused I knew why but didn't wanna say that I did in front of her. "Never mind." "It's no big" I didn't want to but I had to, it was the truth and keeping your mouth shut is the same as a lie, right? "We're here!" She was bouncing up and down and every time she did so there was a boing that let me know. "Hey there is three other mares coming over here, Midnight!" she was excited, I wondered if I would've been as excited as her if I could see. "Cool!!!" What now? sorry but I don't get Berry Mintcake "IT'S THE CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS!!!!!" oh, that explains it "EEEEEE" The cutie mark crusaders are amazing, they may have bad luck but they are awesome! "Hi ya'll" That was Applebloom it had to be, who else would talk like that outside of the Apple family? "Hi, I'm Berry Mintcake!" "Hi," I said shyly. "What's your name? I'm Scootaloo and as you can see these are my pals, Applebloom and Sweetie Belle" Scootaloo said in her normal kind, yet tough a voice. I didn't know what to say, but what I did know was that if I blew this then I wouldn't be able to make any other friends except Berry "Midnight River," I had heard them all over town but never could picture them, "I... would?...can?... oh never mind" I said drawing out every word till I gave up. "What? Ya'll need a tour?" Applebloom said. "I... I... I don't suppose you could tell me what you look like?" "What do you mean? What are you? Blind? Did Diamond Tiara put you up to this? Do you.." I had to tune her out but, great I blew it. "SCOOTALOO!!!!!! ARE YOU BLIND? SHE IS SHE IS BLIND SO PUT A HOOF IN IT AND STOP ACCUSING HER!!!!!!!!" Sweetie Belle the kindest one of them and had just yelled louder than Berry when Berry saw them? "That's why you flinched when Scootaloo said, as you can see," Applebloom stated thinking out loud. Sweetie Belle's heart didn't slow down as her voice had, "Sorry about that," it however didn't work in fact she made it worse. "I knew it! I just knew it!" I turned around and ran, following the imprints of Berry's and my hoofprints, all I wanted to do was run away. When I reached a hill I figured it was the one me and my mom introduced me to Berry. I had stopped trying to remember where mom and I came up it. "Left!" I said thinking out loud. I ran down the left side of the hill, and I finally reached my house. It wasn't more different than any other except we had a mat, mom thought it would help me remember were we do live so I won't get confused. I can't go in I thought to myself mom will make me go back. Threw the marketplace and past the famous Fluttershy's cottage and into some sort of forest. that no one went in. I think I've heard something close to a pony but it's hoof prints were heavier. I thought it was peaceful, so I never knew why the others never came in here. I had found this place so long ago, I had this sense that was almost calling me, I followed it. I knew that my mom wouldn't let me out so I climbed out my window and tried to follow it. I don't even know if I followed it but what I do know is that I wound up in the forest somehow. Right now however I was going to a hidden lake that I found on that first trip. Well I fell into it more than found, but it didn't have a fast current so it was peaceful. The sun made it less peaceful but it was soothing. "Midnight!" though the voice was gentle it scared me half to death, it was Fluttershy.
Chp 3- Fluttershy?What Fluttershy knows me? was my first thought but, I had no idea how, she controlled the element of kindness. Twilight had just become an alicorn and she knew me? I've never even talked to her. No matter what I came straight out of the forest, I didn't want anyone to find it so I decided to take a loop around her chicken coop. "Yes Fluttershy?" I said quietly and terrified out of my wits. "Oh, ummm.." More quietly than I said before I asked "Yes?" I was getting worried so I began messing with my pigtails and my bow "Hey! Midnight!" It was Scootaloo, and she had three other ponies with her, I'm guessing Sweetie Belle, Applebloom, and Berry. Their hooves were beating loudly enough that I could gallop over to them, but I just ran the opposite way again. "Midnight River!" I skidded to a stop again right before I was in the forest. Did Fluttershy know something? "Yes?" I said trotting over to her hoping that it wouldn't be awkward silence again. "I don't.... what I mean is....." She was speaking in such a quiet whisper I could barely hear her. What was out of the ordinary was the fact that, her heart was even practically silenced which it shouldn't, which made me speak out of turn. "Are you okay? You don't sound very good." "This is how I normally talk," "No I don't mean that," I hated talking about my hearing ability, but I had to or else I would be lying. "What I mean is tha..." "Midnight! Come on we need to go to school." Berry pushed me in the direction we were suppose to go. "You should probably get going" Fluttershy whispered I wanted to tell Fluttershy but Scootaloo didn't give me the chance and Berry guided me, "I'm so sorry, I had no idea," I was trying to tune her out so I could here Fluttershy's heart beat but I couldn't. We were to far away and it was to faint. I drew my attention away from it and focused on what the others were saying. "So do you forgive me?" "What do you think?" I answered darkly turning away from her. I waited a few moments before I turned around and said "Just kidding!" with a giant smile spreading across my face. We all started laughing hard. It was the hardest I've ever laughed in my life. School was going to be great. Applebloom was the first one to get ahold of her senses and asked "Sweetie Belle? How did ya know tha' Midnight was blind?" She whispered trying to hide the question. "It's in her eyes" Sweetie Belle said not as quietly. "I heard that!" I said making my eyes tear up, but letting my self burst out laughing after a minute or two. "It's okay you don't have to hide your question from me," "You scared us Midnight!" Sweetie Belle said accusing me but started to giggle afterwards. "Hey, you're funny!" "Thanks, anywho.... are we almost there yet?" "Yeah, I can see it." Scootaloo replied. "Have you gotten your schedule yet?" Sweetie Belle said trying to start a conversation. "Sorry, no." I was feeling like a failure. "Ya'll don't have to be sorry, if anypony should be sorry it should be Scoots" "HEY!" I said I was sorry a million times," She paused before saying, "I'm sorry. Kay now make that a million and one!" "So...." Hopefully this time it would go smoothly if I asked what the looked like. "Yeah?" Applebloom said. "Oh," Sweetie Belle said understanding, "We never did tell you what wee looked like did we?" "No" "Well I have a pink and light lavender curly mane with a white coat and I'm a unicorn! Applebloom has a pale coat that is the same color that her sister's mane is but her mane is cherry. Oh and she always wears a bow lighter shade bow like yours!" Scootaloo cut in again, "And I'm a awesome pegasus, I may have cut my mane by accident but I don't care. Anyways I'm orange but my mane is purple." I just opened my mouth to say cool but Scootaloo asked, Hey how would you know what these colors are anyway?" "Well......" "Well, well, well" great interrupted again. This time it was a new bratty voice coming from the black empty void. "What would you know, Diamond Tiara" Scootaloo said in the most the darkish way she could say.
Chp 4- New Gal"Hey, I see you've made some new trash friends." her heart was racing super fast which meant she had ran all the way here, or she might have been hurt. "Are you okay Diamond Tiara?" "Yes," but her heart just kept beating faster which in my book or any other book it meant a lie was being told. "I don't want to be late now do I my helpless pegasus, I better, how do you put it? Take off!" and with that she snickered off. I tried to give her a sympathetic look, but... "Hey! What did you do that for Midnight?" Scootaloo had scared me. "Do what be nice?" I was confused. "Yes!" Sweetie Belle said, "What did you think? She had just mocked you and you asked her if she was okay?" "Ya'll let's hear her out instead of shoutin' at her!" At least one of them is loyal I shook my head violently trying to get the thought out of my head but it stuck with me. "So why did you do it then?" "I... I..... I... I just thought..... " Berry began to trot ahead nudging me towards the path Diamond Tiara took. "Does it really matter, lets just head to school," she thought for a minute, "Anyway she's gone right?" "Yeah I guess so." Scootaloo sounded upset though. It was a longer walk then you would think. When we finally got there we all headed to the office, bell rung out saying we had entered the room, "CAKE!!" "Huh?" all of us asked Berry, but we got distracted as the mare at the desk got us your schedules. "May I ask what classes we have?" "Oh your Midnight River? I'm Mr. Specter I was told that you were blind and needed you assign you to somepony." "Assign me?" "Well of course, we'll have somepony to guide you every other day and a different one the others." Obviously Berry was getting bored "Can I do that?" "Hey!" Applebloom shouted, "Maybe that's our cutie mark!" they, in unison shouted, "Special ed helping cutie marks!" Next thing I knew everypony kept shouting and asking if they could be the helping when MR. specter kept telling them that he had already picked one out for me. I simply slouched into the corner and tried to block out the noise. It wasn't till the bell rang out once again, did the talking cease "Hi, my i get my schedule please?" "Oh, why, yes," everypony shot up to look all nice and neat. "May I ask what you're names are? ALL of you." Applebloom slipped towards me and whispered, "She's glarin' at us" She nudged me towards where I had stood originally. "I'm Applebloom, this is Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle and our two newest recruits Berry Mintcake, and you already know Midnight River, we're the Cutie Mark Crusaders!" When she had said my name I felt a soft breeze hitting me, I can only assume she had motioned to me. "Are you sure?" I didn't think school would be this easy. However there was Diamond Tiara that got me worried. "Sure, you guys seem nice and you don't have yer cutie marks yet." Scootaloo answered in reply, knocking me out of my thoughts, "You aren't however officially yet but you be official after school, kay?" I only nodded my head in agreement but Berry kept bouncing up and down shouting yes over and over again. After she had introduce everypony and we had asked our questions, this other filly squealed in excitement but took deep breaths trying to calm herself down. Once she did get a hold on herself, she stated, "I'm Light Secret" no matter how calm she acted she was super excited, her heartbeat had give it away, heck she might be more excited than Berry was. "Well, speak of the devil," I heard the rubbing of some paper when Mr. Specter continued, "Light Secret, you have are the student aide for Midnight River." "I don't understand. What do you mean?" "You see, Midnight river is, well..." I began to shuffle my hooves and look down, it is a really bad habit of mine, "She's..." "It's okay" I said refusing to look up. "Midnight River, is blind" As he said this I lifted up my head as if to be looking at her expression, "You will be helping her get through her classes, in other words, you are her eyes." "I'm sorry," Light Secret said in a sympathetic voice. "Sorry for what?" I said as cheerful as I could. "May I ask what you look like though?" "Sure, I'm a unicorn and I guess have a raspberry red coat, a bright yellow mane that is wavy, and light gray eyes." She paused as though she was in thought. "I don't know how that would help you since you don't know what these colors are." "Strange thing actually," How are they going to react? I kept playing different scenarios in my mind but didn't care. "I've been blind since birth but I was born knowing these colors. So I have a pretty close idea of colors." "Cool!" Light Secret said. After that there was a very awkward silence between us aside from the crinkling of papers. Mr. Specter broke it after the paper crinkling had stopped. "Well, would you look at that." "What?" Berry said anxious to say something. "You all have the same classes except for electives" "Awesome, that's like a sign!" "I know right?" "Right!" everypony was so excited but I had this dreadful feeling, it was scaring me. Something was going happen. Something soon.
Chp 5- A New FriendI listened carefully to each of their hearts to make sure none of them were.... well something. I don't know how to explain it but there is always a difference in heart beats, but I can tell something different. As I said I don't know how to explain it, but, mainly because I don't know. There is no way. I thought to myself, they were ALL different except for one who's I couldn't pin point, but that right there was different. I ignored it thinking that, things were messing with my head. Setting that thought aside. We all left the office Light Secret gently pushing me along. "I'm sorry but what re all my classes? No one's told me yet." The sound of hooves stepping on the grass stopped. "Oh, I'm sorry!" Light said. "I'm suppose to be your guidance and I don't even know were I'm going!" I shook my head telling her it was okay but she continued. "I'm so wrapped up and now school is going," her voice drew out near the end. "Wrapped up with what?" I asked not trying to be nosy but just curious. "Siblings," she said, her voice was calm and her heart normal but I felt something jump at me, "Magic" it said. It sure sounded like Light's voice but it wasn't hers. "No it's not, is it?" her heart stopped for a moment then got back on track and sped up. "What is?" I heard her hair thump down only suggesting she was upset. "Magic" she said glumly. "It can't be" I say finding myself mumbling it out loud. Applebloom lost her loyal streak though, "Waddya mean it can't be? And how did you know she wasa lyin'!? I couldn't even tell!" Well I thought to myself, there goes that theory, laugh at me if you want but I had a gut feeling that we were all different in some way. Each way however was unique. Pushing that thought aside I shook my head and opened my mouth to speak but I was interrupted by a slamming door and a squee. "OHMYGOSH! OHMYGOSH! OHMYGOSH! OHMYGOSH!" I'm sorry but I'm getting tired by all the squees going about. "Your... yo..you're the Cutie Mark Crusaders!" "Yeah!" Scootaloo said from behind me. "She's Applebloom, this is Sweetie Belle, Berry Mintcake, Midnight, Light Secret and I'm Scootaloo or Scoots, whichever you prefer." I listened to the new pony's heartbeat carefully. It was weird too, filled with both hate and kindness, how about we just go with weird. "Can I be a Cutie Mark Crusader too?!" she asked eagerness. "Sure You have to answer one question correctly before though." Scots said. "Teasing but there is a question that you need to answer," The nameless pony's heart began beating faster, both of fear and excitement. "What's you name?" Scoots asked gleefully. "Oh!" she said in reluctance. "Clouded Shimmer!" The ground vibrated, I can only suppose she was jumping like Berry had been just, not as fast. "Am I in then?" "Not officially but after school come with us!" Sweetie Belle said in excitement. "I have a question." I asked, even though I couldn't see I cold feel all eyes on me. "Wha... What do.... What do you possibly..." my voice trailed off "Can... Can you tell me what you look like?" "Of course," she said understandingly. "I have a black coat and a teal mane with green sprout colored streaks, and pale teal eyes." She paused. "I suppose it's you I'm aiding Tuesdays and Thursdays?" I nodded. "Cool, I can't wait!" We turned around and began walking "May I ask where we are going?" I asked as politely as possible. "Of course. We're going to class silly filly!" We didn't have to walk for long till we entered a room. "Hey Spoon! Do you see what I see?" It was Diamond Tiara's voice. "Yeah!" My guess is that, that voice belongs to Spoon, or whoever that was. "Seven blank flanks in a pear tree!"
Chapter 6: Trouble"Diamond Tiara! Silver Spoon!" another voice came from the abyss, "How dare you speak to the new students like that, or any fillies for that matter!" I swallowed, if there were other fillies that followed Diamond's every move I was in big trouble. "Sorry, Ms. Cherilee" "Sorry." "It's okay, If I see any more of this behavior though you are staying in for recess." The first voice said. "Well, come here, your late, we've already done this so, " Our teacher began, I felt a soft push come from Light Secret. "Please introduce yourselves," She paused, "Please state your name and something about yourself." "I'm Berry Mintcake!" Berry said with excitement. "and... I... look at life a half cup full?" She said making her last statement sound more like a question. "So your optimistic", Ms. Cherrilee stated. "I guess" She said in her normal perky way. "I'm Clouded Shimmer but I like being called Cloud." Clouded Shimmer said taking the stand, "and I... I love the way sunsets color the clouds." I felt Light Secret's muzzle pull away from me as she spoke. "I'm Light Secret and I hate people in my privacy." her voice was flat and to the point. I had the feeling that she was talking about the magic thing that I somehow knew. I heard the hoofsteps and felt all eyes on me. Now I know I'm blind but I knew that the eyes of every pony in the room were on me. As the tension grew my neck felt to get swollen. "I... I'm... I.. My name... i... is.. Mid...Mi... Midnight River and... I.. I'm blind." I choked on all most every word. There was silence in the room, deathly silence. "I think you'll do great things in the future just like the famous Snowdrop did." "But she was a pegasus, I'm just a regular old earth pony." I felt a muzzle on my back and proceeded where I was being pushed towards. Turns out it was an open seat, as I sat down I heard snickering behind me I turned around to where they were coming from but there were more and more, the snickers were surrounding me. "STOP IT!! PLEASE!!" I shouted I had a tiring day already I did not want anymore trouble. "Midnight River, stop what? Is somepony bothering you?" I listened, no pony had been laughingor snickering, whatsoever, my active imagination was getting the better of me, again. "No, I'm sorry." "Well then lets continue our lesson shall we?" Mrs. Cherilee said in an asking manner, but just went straight to teaching. We continued from the part when Snowdrop was thinking back when her mom was talking to her about the stars and how they twinkled. After the lesson was over we were dismissed to recess, I got up out of my chair and waited for Light Secret to push me towards the door. She never did so I decided I could do anything a pony with eyesight could do. I attempted to walk out the door but I couldn't figure out where it was. I walked straight and hit a desk straight in my chest. I ran through the room knocking stuff over and falling this way and that way. I stumbled over chairs, table legs, bags and books. I gave up sat down but instead of the flat floor there was a tack.I felt my head hit steps as I tumbled down stairs. My own heart was racing the next thing I knew I was face flat on the ground. Beneath my muzzle was soft green grass, it was usually comforting when it was wet but in this case nothing could comfort my tortured soul. Laughs every which way, there was laughing and it was not my overactive imagination this time. Diamond Tiara's voice entered my brain. "Watch it!! Can't you see where you're going??" I opened my mouth to remind her that I couldn't see but she spoke up. "Oh, wait I forgot you're blind!" Many voices chuckled in the background until her piercing voice came through again. "I bet you'll never earn your cutie Mark after all I don't know of any earth pony that cutiemark without using their eyesight!" After that all the. Noise had stopped because every pony knew she was right. It is impossible for any pony to receive a cutiemark without having a talent for something, and me, I don't have any talent. "You'll never amount to anything." Another voice said with a wave of others following. Most of them were referring to my lack of sight. Others just decided to say awful things. No one pony try to defend me I was alone, I was nothing. So I decided to stand up for myself, I was not gonna give in. "At least I won't be anything like you guys!" I paused grabbing at every ounce of courage I could call on from within me. "Bullies, mean, horrible, despicable, and try to take dreams from any pony and shatter them!" Remarkably every pony shut up, well, it was remarkable till I heard a heartbeat from behind me. Ms. Cheerlie no doubt. "Midnight River I did not expect this you." "B... bu.... I... it...they.... but" my mouth wouldn't let anything that made sense come out. "Go to the office please. Come back when you're ready to be kind." I hung my head and feet and headed towards the office to see Mr. Specter. I know that the walk was short but I can get a little paranoid. Well, no, not paranoid but over worried I guess you could say. When I reached a building I searched the walls for a door. It took some time but I eventually found the door but when I did I grabbed the door hoovdle (handle) and prepared for anything I would be waiting for me, meaning trouble. I once again started searching for something, but this time it wasn't for an object. it instead was for a pong. "Hello Midnight River." I jumped at the sound of my own name. I of course recognized the voice, it was Mr. Specter. "What are you looking for?" he paused before continuing, "Where's Light Secret?" I had turned towards him trying to make sure he didn't feel awkward. "She got distracted, it is okay actually, I'm use to it." I answered, myself distraught. As I heard a quill scratching on paper I suddenly realized what he was talking about. "It's not her fault though!!!! I sat far away from her and most of the other fillies in class!" "Well dear I don't know, but, if you say so." I let out a heavy sigh that I had some how managed to hide from Mr. Specter. "Why are you in here any way?" he asked. "Great," I muttered to myself "Well.... I got in trouble." "How?" He asked, great now he'll think that I'm a bratty little filly that uses disabilities to her advantages and gets what ever she wants I thought to myself "Itoldagroupoffilliesthattheyweremeanbutmyactualwordswereabitharsher." (Pinkie Pie fast) I had said it really fast with my head hung low hoping he wouldn't understand, but, he obviously understood every word perfectly. He didn't however react in any of the ways I thought he might. He simply asked, "What were, your actual words Midnight River?" I looked up at him with curiosity but told him what he asked, "I think my exact words were, 'At least I won't be anything like you guys! Bullies, mean, horrible, despicable, and try to take dreams from any pony and shatter them!'" I paused for a moment before continuing, "Sorry" I answered and apologized in reply. "It looks like you're not ready for school quiet yet," I stood frozen as those words fell out of his mouth. That was exactly what all the fillies had said, just more kindly. "Maybe you could try home school?" He had suggested in the most kindest way. "I have tried, I just can't bear to be stuck in one place for m.... my whole life." I was beginning to stutter again. "Mom ne...never let me ou.... out of the house. I had to... be.... beg her. I felt tears beginning to form but I held the back just long enough. Just long enough for him to say, "Okay." I jumped o him and whispered, "Thank you." I heard a heavy sigh right before he began to loosely shake me off. "You may wanna go home for the rest of today as I sort this, misunderstanding out." I let out a sigh as well and nodded, "Okay, bye see you tomorrow." "Bye."
Chp - My BrotherAs I left the school I decided I wouldn't go to home till I would've normally gone if I left school at the regular time. In other words I didn't want my mom or my brother to figure out that I was sent home on my first day of school. They would wring my neck if they knew. My heart was racing so I decided that I should go to the forest and maybe swim a bit. My ears drooped a bit when I remembered Fluttershy's heart beat. It was strange. She was acting like she usually does but, does that mean her heart is like that all the time? It's just scary. Then I thought back to the office this morning. The heart rates of all of them, were off. Strange. My thoughts were interrupted when I bumped into somepony. "Oh, I'm s.. sor.... sorry." "Midnight River!" A harsh, rugged voice shouted at me. My brother. Now, I would like to say that I talked to him like any normal sibling, or give him a hoofbump, instead, I ran. "Get back here!" He yelled at me. I'm clearly not the best runner when it comes to long distance. My brother on the other hoof was really good at it. I ran towards the forest, mindful of where I was headed. Despite that I happened to run into some sort of small, wooden structure it had collapsed underneath me. When I placed a hoof on one of the beams, it was soft and moist with some warm and slightly thick liquid on it. "Midnight!" Right Star said. He was about three years older than me, making him two years older than the Cutiemark Crusaders. "Why aren't you in school?!" He said harshly. Picking me out of the rubble with his wing. As he did that I felt pain rush up my front right hoof so I ignored it and took of some of the weight on it. "I...... I...." I managed. "You got into trouble didn't you?" He stated. "Mom's going to be so mad." "Umm... Excuse me," a recognizable voice said, "Why aren't you in school?" It was none other than the element of kindness herself. Again? That particular day was becoming a little to weird for me. "If I'm correct you have a placement test today Left Star." "It's Right Star! My name is RIGHT STAR THE SECOND!!!" He yelled angrily. Only moments later did the mood quickly changed. "I'm sorry Ms. Fluttershy, I didn't mean to snap, I've been having a bad day, sorry to have intruded, we'll leave." I could've sworn that her heart beat got slower than it was earlier. I pushed myself in front of my brother, "After we fix the....." I paused for a moment, I didn't know what it was that I had ran into. "the thing I ran into by accident." I finished. Well, her heart beat got faster when she giggled for some reason. That's not what happens, at least I don't think it does. Who knows, I'm only a filly. I thought to myself. "I'd appreciate that. I'll go get the instructions." Star stood by my side as he helped me get out of the rubble of the collapsed... thing. "Midnight!" He yelled. "You're bleeding! You know you aren't suppose to run. You're blind for crying out loud! You could've gotten seriously hurt. I lifted my right hoof and touched it. "So this is blood?" I asked after feeling the warm, and sticky goo. It hurt but I smiled, "Cool." Star bonked me on the head and told me that it wasn't cool, it was bad. Not much later, Fluttershy came back and she raced to get bandages for me when my brother told her about my injury. He began setting up the structure, which turned out to be a chicken coup, as Fluttershy bandaged my leg. Little did I know that tomorrow would set me on a path that would change me for the rest of my life.
