Blue's Backstory
The Move to Canterlot
Load Full StoryBlue Rose, a small red filly with dragon wings and a jagged tooth lived atop Smokey Mountain, oblivious to the outside world, she sat quietly in the corner of the dark cave. Her mother, a pegasus called Ruby Red, trotted up to the small foal. “Your getting very big now,
it’s time to move away from here and find you a real home.” She said looking grim. Blue Rose looked up at her mother’s sleepy eyes. “But, where are we going?” She asked. Her mother looked uncertain for a moment before responding. “Canterlot.” she said blankly.
“Where is Canterlot mummy? Is it far?” Blue whispered. “It will be a long trip but its for your education and well-being.” Ruby responded. Ruby walked to the mouth of the cave and shouted for Blue to come. Ruby was already hooked up to her sky cart and ready to go with half of her dragon-husband’s jewels and treasure. Blue Rose climbed into the cart and they set off for Canterlot.
A few hours later after flying through the sky for some time, Ruby spotted the magnificent capital city of Canterlot. She slowed down and landed out the front of what was to be their new house, a particular shabby looking place to the Canterlot eye but was just fine for this duo. Ruby Red unlatched the cart from her back and started to unload the luggage and treasure. Blue Rose picked up a small stuffed fox toy she had named Foxy and walked inside.
“Now Blue Rose, your room is up the stairs, on the left.” Shouted Ruby. Blue climbed the stairs and walked into her room. The walls were painted blue and the room was mostly empty exept for the queen-sized bed in the corner. Blue Rose trotted to the window and sat on a very comfortable seat by it. She peered out onto the horizon, Celestia’s sun was setting and it was getting dark. From accross the ally, Blue could see a white unicorn in the next-door window. By the looks of it, she was writing.
Blue Rose peeked at the stranger’s room, it was a mix of black and white with Harry Trotter posters on the walls and plenty of books on the shelves. Suddenly a red and orange baby dragon walked into the room carrying a scroll. He said a few words to the mare and handed over the scroll. The mare levitated the piece of paper and read it. A look of surprise came upon her face and she began dancing around the room in exited awe. Whatever was written on that scroll must have been good news to this mysterious pony. After reading through it once again, the mare finally noticed Blue and waved her hoof in greeting.
Blue shyly waved back. “Blue Rose! Dinner time!” Her mother called from downstairs. Blue Rose felt sorrow come to her and waved goodbye to the unicorn next door and departed downstairs to eat her dinner.
After finishing her discusting brussel sprouts, Blue trotted upstairs excitedly, hoping to see that same pony. Her excitement faded as she looked through the window at the dark, abandoned room. Blue sighed. “I’ll never make friends here...” She huffed, trotting back downstairs to join her mother.
Ruby Red sat on the sofa, watching Daring Do and The Quest for The Saphire Statue when Blue Rose walked in and sat on the sofa with her. “Mother, will I ever make friends?” she whispered. “Oh, of course you will sweetie, you have no reason to fret.” Ruby replied.
Blue Rose put her hoof to her chin and thought. “Why do dragons live here mother? Arent they scary to ponies here?” Blue questioned. “Well...I don’t-” But Ruby was cut off. “Why couldn’t daddy come with us? Why did he leave?” Ruby looked down at the ground and sighed. “Daddy...he...he didn’t want to be with us anymore sweetie.” Blue looked confused. “But why wouldn’t he? What is he like?” She said. “He’s...he’s...he’s a...” Ruby failed to respond. “What? He’s what!?” Blue Rose exclaimed. “He’s...he’s a...dragon...” Silence swept over the two at Blue stared in awe at her mother’s grim face.
“How can he be a...dragon?! I’m a pony!” Blue said. “You share some traits of dragonhood with your father, like your wings and yor lucky tooth and your bright yellow eyes.” Her mother said depressingly. “But...but thats impossible! I’m just a normal pegasus! Arent I?” She replied. “No...your...your half dragon honey...” Ruby
staggered, struggling to get her words out. “I...i’m going to bed...” Blue Rose said before getting up and marching to her room.
Blue Rose couldn’t sleep without thinking what a huge scary monster her father wouldv’e been...and what a monster she is. How could her mother do this to her? At this moment in time, Blue didn’t really feel like she had a purpose anymore. She felt empty and alone as her heart sank into the void and became cold and depressed and she fell into an unblissful, solitary slumber.
Blue looked around. There was red...everything she saw was red! Her room had turned blood red. The cutains, the walls, even the unpacked boxes were red. Red...red everywhere. A rumbling roar sounded from outside followed by multiple screams and shrieks of pain. Gasping, she got up and galloped to the window seeing only red. Red streets, red houses...red ponies...dead ponies! Suddenly, a beast of pure evil emerged and grasped Blue Rose from the window. She tried to scream, but nothing came out. The horrible creature muttered something grusome before devouring her painfully.
