A dark blue unicorn with a spiky blue mane sat in a room with a white mare bound to a chair, he suddenly looked upwards and gave a smile, his ice blue eyes seem to glow.
"What do you think of dreams?" he asked the mare who is shivering in fear, when she didn't answer he scooted closer still keeping his smile "I'll ask again what do you think of dreams" he repeated, though this time she could detect a lace of venom in his voice.
"I-I d-don't know" she answered fearfully, the stallion stood up and trotted around the mare "Strange, I thought being a movie director and all you would've known what dreams are" he said with a smile, he then stopped in front of her "I mean It's even in your business card, 'I'll make your dreams come true'" he continued, he then placed his hoof under his chin "Well I suppose that true, I mean you do make your actors famous and wealthy, something that everpony dreams about" he then lowered the hoof, he then smirked at the mare "Is that what dreams are, something that you want and eventually get It?" he asked her.
The mare not wanting to make her captor angry nodded "of course" she then received a powerful buck in the face, she felt a tooth come off and her nose crack, she spat out the tooth and started coughing up some blood, she raised her head to see the unicorn giving her a powerful glare.
"Wrong" he hissed, he placed his hoof on her chest and stared right into her eyes "Dreams are just imagination, something that your brain makes up to make you feel good like you have a goal in life but they NEVER come true" he took his hoof off her chest, he then tilted his head, then gave a pondering look "But then again, the ponies that you made rich and famous did get what they wanted, their wealth and fame are real" he said to himself.
"So does that make my opinion on dreams wrong?" he asked the mare, in which she could only shake her head in fear, her head cracked to the left as she received a hard slap the stallion gave her another glare "Yes they were" he stated.
He grabbed the mares head and forced her to look into his eyes "Dreams are more like ice, some of them don't freeze and stay in their liquid state it then either evaporates or get absorb into another object and disappear, some freeze and then stay only for a while and then melt slowly until its all gone, then sometimes it shatters into millions of pieces and leaves you with just small fragments until you forget all about it" he explained solemnly he then released the head of the mare.
The unicorn lowered his head, the mare despite being kidnapped by him couldn't help but feel sad at the stallions view of dreams, she opened her mouth to comfort him, but the words disappeared as well as her sadness as fear took over when the stallion raised his head looked at her with a smile.
"But I'm still probably wrong, I mean you probably have your own opinion" he then reached her back with his right hoof, a katana suddenly appeared he pulled it out from its blue scabbard, the shiny silver steel caused the mares eyes to widen in fear, whatever words she wanted to say were stuck in her throat as he held the blade that would end her out in front of him "Since you can make them both come true or shatter them" he gave it few swings that barely missed the mare, who leaned back on the chair as much as she could.
He then looked at his reflection from the sword "And while I'd like to hear your opinion, about how dreams can come true" he pointed the blade at her throat, he gave one last look, a look of total anger "I'd stick with mine" then in a flash he swung his blade so fast the mare couldn't even see it much less beg for mercy, the blade sliced her throat with ease, blood spilled from the wound as she tried to choked out her words but all that came out were garbled, the stallion watch as the blood continued to spill as she tried to struggle but eventually her body went limp as her struggling stop
The stallion swung his blade to shake off the blood from It, he then placed It in his scabbard, he then happily untied the mare from the chair, causing her to fall flat on the ground, her wound caused a small pool of blood to form, she twitched once, but didn't do anything else.
The stallion then walked towards the door happily humming to himself then a thought came to mind, he walked back towards the body, his horned glowed, levitating the globs of blood and started arranging It to make a few words 'Dreams Dont come true' when it was done, the glow on his horned flared and froze the blood in place, satisfied he walked out the door.
A few days later
When the mares friends found out about the death of the mare, the news appeared everywhere, on the newspaper, TV and even magazines, many mourned for her death, some had mixed emotions.
And the stallion responsible for It? He's currently reading about It at a coffee while drinking a cup of coffee with grin, not only did the death of said mare effect the company she worked for, but also other companies and ponies.
A bag of bits dropped in front of him, he looked towards who did it, standing opposite of him was a mare with a pale olive coat and a mane that had two shades of blue wearing sunglasses that seemed to hid her identity, the mare nodded in which the stallion replied with a mock salute, "Enjoy It" he said playfully.
The mare nodded and walked away, when she was at a distance he said under his breathe "While It last" he then continued with his reading.
Shining Armour sighed as he read through the reports, once again the royal guard failed to protect the ponies they swore to protect.
The captain glared at the papers that was laid out in front of him, the main focus point was the assassination of the Star Shine, the famous movie director.
"Star Shine found dead in a recording room, found with a broken nose, bruise muzzle and slash mark across her neck, possibly from a katana, a message written in her blood that read 'Dreams Dont come true' was found frozen" Shining read under his breath, his skimmed through the rest of it that involved the relationship and occupation of the mare and focused on the possible suspects.
The suspects were of course ponies that had a celebrity status, ranging from the photographer Photo Finish to the pop pony sensation Sapphire Shores, they listed off the reasons why they would kill the movie director, the typical reasons like afraid of being out shined, jealousy, a heat brake, and one of them was that she tried to ruin the image of a pony.
Shining Armour knew that these ponies could not have killed Star Shine, hired somepony to kill her for them yes, but do It themselves not a chance, he sighed, though something from Sapphire Shores section caught his interest, it stated that she was seen with a rather familiar face.
His eyes went to another report, this one giving crucial evidence to who might have been the killer.
One of them was what happened to the bodyguards that were supposed to protect the movie director, when asked all they answered were 'We saw something blue, then everything turned black' the others gave the same answer, though one stated that he was able to catch a glimpse of the pony, before getting knocked out, according to him the killer was unicorn.
Unfortunately the pony was able to take out any surveillance cameras that were inside the building, fortunately he forgot to take out the one on the outside, from the tape they were able to find out that he was a stallion, and indeed a unicorn, they weren't able to identify his cutie mark, nor were they able to catch his face.
Leaving the message at the body of the mare was a mistake, as the guards were able to use the magical residue left by the spell to figure out the magical signature of the unicorn, obviously ice.
With all the information Shining Armour was able to figure out who was the one responsible for her death, he sighed and rubbed his temple with his hooves "I thought that being prince would lighten the workload, I was so very wrong" he muttered, his horn glowed and a rather thick folder from his cabinet glowed the same and levitated towards his desk, he moved the reports out of the way and dropped the folder on his desk.
Using his magic he flipped it open, the first revealed a mugshot of a Dark Blue unicorn, he had a spiky mane of the same colour that was a few shades lighter, his eyes were icy blue, on his flank was a snowflake that was sliced right in the middle, his bio-data stated that his full name is Diamond Dust, he weights around 45Kg, approximately at 3 feet 1, and possible at the age of 21, the rest stated his previous locations as well as his former subordinates.
Below the bio-data is his weapon which was a one sided katana that was two feet long hidden in a blue scabbard that can be called upon by the pony, this is used to avoid the weapon from being stolen, though If it is out of it's owners magical range, or is blocked by an enchantment it would be lost unless retrieved.
His magical signature was ice, and obviously he is very skilled with it, his main strategy is to distract his opponents and bombard them with ice spikes to either incapacitate them or kill them, he also uses the ice to increase the length of his sword and uses a unique spell that'll freeze the pony touched.
Then below was the pièce de résistance, unlike most unicorns who would rely solely on their magic and weapons, Diamond Dust is different, it stated he's speed in nearly unreal for a unicorn, apparently fast enough to disappear to civilians eyes and appear as a blur to trained ones.
Fortunately he was not perfect, his ice attack is less effective if attacked in a group as they can render the ice bombard useless if they can detect it and destroy them before they pose a threat, his speed can used against him to knock him off balance, and If fought long enough, his movements can be memorised, reports show that he is also greedy, a trait the royals guards have been trying to exploit, with little success.
They rest of the folder was filled with reports of the work he had taken, most of them being assassination while some are escorts that landed some of the guard into the infirmary, most of his assassinations are a success, oddly though, any attempts on the palace ends in failure, guards report that they would catch Diamond Dust escaping wounded.
Reading the various reports, he found out the last known pony to interact with Diamond Dust was Sapphire Shores, at a local pub, it claimed that they were discussing something in a small secluded corner, this was only a few days before the assassination.
Shining sighed and closed the folder, levitating a highlighter he circled the picture of Sapphire Shores, though rather cruel to classify a pony as a prime suspect because of a chance interaction, no other leads would come through, unless the other suspects suddenly became experts in ice magic, which is very unlikely.
Using his magic his opened the door and called for a messenger, giving the pegasus a warrant and a scroll that informed the guards who the prime suspect is, he ordered the messenger to send it to the guards patrolling Canterlot, with a salute the pegasus zoomed out the office to perform It's task.
