The Contest
Prank
Load Full StoryEvery year, the Wonderbolts play a prank on the newbies at the academy. They hold a pie eating contest, the prize promising a spot in the Wonderbolts. Though being a prank, the winner does not receive the prize they were wanting, only getting a ride on the dizzitron. The dizzitron makes the stuffed pegasi very dizzy and nauseous, often resulting in the unfortunate winner publicly embarrassing themselves in front of the Wonderbolts and all their fellow pegasi.
Spitfire took down the sign up sheet, looking at the display of unlucky pegasi, unfortunate enough to fall into the traps of the prank. Though almost every newbie was signed up, two names stood out to Spitfire, Lightning Dust and Rainbow Dash. Spitfire grinned cruelly, figuring one of these two pegasi would soon face their social demise. She walked to Soarin and rattled off the list of victims of the prank. The Wonderbolts organized the pie eating contest, getting it ready for tonight.
That night, a long line of pies sat on a big wooden table. The Wonderbolts would keep track of how many pies each pony had eaten while their assistants passed out new pies when one was finished. The contestants took their spots, the few who chose not to participate sat on the side to watch. When everypony was ready, Spitfire explained the rules.
"So, each of you have one pie in front of you. When that pie is completely, I mean completely, gone, you will have a new one set in front of you. When you can't eat anymore, raise your left hoof and we will right down your placing. Once your placing is recorded, you are free to go. Do you understand?" Spitfire asked.
"Yes Ma'am!" The contestants said.
"One your marks, get set... GO!" Spitfire shouted, blowing her whistle.
The pegasi dug in. Raindrops, the only newbie not participating, cheered on her lead pony, Thunder Lane. Each pony dug their muzzle into the assorted flavors of pies, gulping down the sugary filling and munching on the crispy crust. Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust were neck at neck, moving onto their second pie. Snowflake, despite his massive, muscled body, raised his left hoof, signaling he couldn't eat anymore.
"Good job," Raindrops said softly as Snowflake joined her on the side.
Spitfire marked Snowflake down as getting seventh and went back to watching the contest. Everypony was now on their second pie, with Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust almost done with their third. Rainbow Dash licked her muzzle, clearing it of the sticky fruit before plunging her muzzle deep into the pie. Lightning Dust pulled her muzzle out of the pie just long enough to take a breath before ripping a chunk off of the crust. At pie three, Wild Flower raised her left hoof, slightly ashamed that she could only eat three, though she was a very thin, delicate pony. Rainbow Dash, by now, was in the midst of her sixth pie, earring hungrily. Rainbow Dash had though out the contest and she hasn't eaten or drank anything in three days, knowing she must save every inch of her stomach for pie so she could win and become a Wonderbolt. So engrossed in the competition, Lightning Dust and Rainbow Dash didn't even notice Milky Way getting out on his sixth pie.
"Placings so far!" Spitfire announced. "Seventh is Snowflake. Sixth is Wild Flower. Fifth is Milky Way."
Rainbow Dash ate faster and faster, now at pie twenty-one. Lightning Dust and Thunder Lane were at pie ten, while Cloud Chaser was dropping out at pie six. Spitfire scribbled her name down on the placings clipboard, seeing only Lightning Dust, Thunder Lane, Rainbow Dash remained in the competition. Rainbow Dash now had a huge stomach, pressing against her legs and growing downwards. She continued to stuff her mouth full with the sticky, sweet pies, forcing the massive amounts of food into her stomach. Thunder Lane, eating his eleventh pie, raised his left hoof, unable to eat anymore.
"Lightning Dust and Rainbow Dash are the final two!" Spitfire exclaimed.
Spitfire scoped out Thunder Lane, seeing his rump and belly had grown pretty large from forcing so much food into his system. She focused her eyes on Lightning Dust and Rainbow Dash, counting their empty pie tins. Lightning Dust was on her twenty-fourth pie and Rainbow Dash on her thirtieth. Spitfire gasped as a thought hit her.
"Rainbow Dash! Your at pie thirty! You can pass the world record of thirty-four!" Spitfire cheered.
The crowd of Wonderbolts and newbies broke out in cheers for Rainbow Dash. Lightning Dust, trying to show restraint, kept eating but didn't push herself any harder. She slowed down greatly, along with Rainbow Dash. Upon reaching her twenty-ninth pie, Lightning Dust raised her left hoof, admitting defeat. Rainbow Dash kept eating, determined to set a new record. Her body was now very, very large, filling her thin frame with fat. She got to her forty-first pie before giving up and setting a new record.
"I will guide you to your prize," Spitfire said, putting a blindfold on Rainbow Dash.
The fat, stuffed, cyan pegasus was guided right up to the Dizzitron. The newbies all gasped when they realized what was going on. With Rainbow Dash secure on the Dizzitron, Spitfire had her assistant start it up, turning it all the way to the highest power. Rainbow Dash felt herself being tossed around, spinning faster and faster until she heard the familiar voice and realized exactly what was going on.
"Release!" Spitfire shouted, sending Rainbow Dash into a massive spin out that, with her immense weight, she couldn't pull out of. The heavy pegasus crashed to the ground, green in the face. She galloped to the mess hall, going up to a trash can just in time to vomit. She suddenly felt all the pies coming back up. She felt a burning sensation in her throat and her stomach churned and gurgled violently. Rainbow Dash coughed, vomit splashing into the trash can. She felt another wave of nausea, vomiting a bunch more.
Spitfire and Soarin, being the only ones who cared enough, came into check on Rainbow Dash, noticing she had been in the mess hall for forty-five minutes, vomiting most of the time. Soarin was the first to talk at the sight of the miserable pegasus.
"I'm sorry, Rainbow Dash, it was meant to be a prank," Soarin said, staring down at his hooves.
"Ya, we didn't mean to physically hurt you," Spitfire said.
Rainbow Dash nodded weakly in response, her head throbbing. She vomited in the trash can again, having lost most of the weight from the pies.
"Do you want us to take you to the Cloudsdale hospital? You have been vomiting an excessive amount," Soarin said.
Rainbow Dash nodded, dealing absolutely helpless. Spitfire and Soarin gently picked the rainbow mare up, flying her to the hospital.
Once their, she was immediately checked out by a doctor, who was filled in on the situation by Soarin .
"Have you been eating regularly?" The doctor asked.
Rainbow Dash shook her head, sprawled out on a hospital bed with a small trash can place next to her nightstand.
"When was the last time you ate," he asked.
"Three days ago, then I ate forty-one pies," Rainbow Dash said, her voice cracking, squeaking, and breaking off from time to time.
She must have sounded as bad as she felt by the sympathetic expression that crossed the Wonderbolts' faces. The doctor spent some time analyzing and examining Rainbow Dash before coming to a conclusion.
"While you weren't eating, you caught the feather flu. When you started to vomit, the feather flu really started to take effect," the doctor announced.
"So could she die," Soarin asked nervously.
"Yes," the doctor said softly before leaving the room.
"I'm so sorry Rainbow Dash," Spitfire said, a tear running down her cheek.
