Years ago, Rome fell to the barbarians that she had held back for so long. From her ashes, demigods rose and traveled the world, in search of a new home, a New Rome. After centuries had passed, they had found it, deep in the plains of America, where only the children of the Gods could find them. For the compass of a true citizen of Rome could find her new home. Those who founded her were but children themselves, they raised a new legion, the XXXI (thirty first). Upon new grounds, and new ideals, they established a government that The Republic of Rome would have been proud of. Every year, a new pair of equal leaders, Praetors, were elected to not only lead the armies of New Rome, but to lead her people through times of trouble. The two had been demigods ever since her return to life. But one day, a Praetor by the name of Cipherus, Son of Mars decided that a republic was not what New Rome needed, she needed an iron fist to cause anything from her enemies or monsters from the deepest depths of Tartarus to quake in fear. The senate overruled him and elected a new leader, Jack Anderson, Son of Mars. Cipherus did not take kindly to his half brother's rise to power, he fled New Rome swearing on Pluto that he would return with an army stronger than any Rome, New or old, had ever faced. His promise was kept a year later when he swept through the streets of New Rome with monsters from Tartarus and sympathizers he had gathered from within. In order to save the city and people he loved, Jack made the ultimate sacrifice and used a weapon of the Gods to send all of the creatures of Tartarus back along with those black of heart; at the price of what he assumed was his life. This however was not the case, he was transported to a new world, one of strange equine beings known as Equestria. Here, he learns that his troubles are not yet over.
