Report from the Royal Guard B.O.T.
Mission ACK2 1996
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAfter the costly air base attack, the B.O.T. spent the next 8 months retooling themselves and refocusing on sabotage and assassination. By April 1996, they were ready.
The B.O.T. has developed numerous weapons and spells when it comes to such missions. One special weapon is called the GP676S (Standing for Gun Pistol (Random 3-digit number) Silenced). Its barrel is literally a silencer. It is designed to be so quiet that the only sound that comes out is the sound of the bullet escaping the barrel. It is also compact and accurate for a pistol of its size. Officially, it was first used in 1984 to assassinate a top CRA leader. It may have been used a year earlier, but any missions where it may have been used earlier are still classified.
Another such weapon had just been introduced in 1994. It is a small UAV called the Boar. It has a wingspan of 20 feet and can fly at a top speed of 200 MPH. It even has 2 hardpoints for American-made Hellfire missiles, 1 on each wing.
For this mission, the Boar was to provide surveillance of a training session at an army camp the Royal Guard had suspected was hosting CRA terrorists. At the same time, a crystal pony working for the B.O.T. taped the session with a hidden voice recorder. This is what they caught: (TRANSLATED FROM CHANGELING)
The trainer said, "As members of the Changeling Revolutionary Army, you will be called upon to seek revenge against the evil Equestrian Empire, led by the whore known as Celestia. Your mission is simple: Wreak havoc on Fillydelphia. You will do so by shooting everyone in sight. Your Queen doesn't want a single pony to walk alive. Honour her wishes and you will be granted eternal love in the afterlife."
After the training session, which involved basic combat training and how to make explosives, the agent quickly left the premises and was extracted to Equestria.
Celestia was the first to listen to the tape. When she did, according to a witness, she said, "I guess I can't wait any longer. I will immediately plan an attack on a rail bridge, an airport, a power plant, whatever. I also want that plot foiled. I can't let my citizens suffer another attack."
The next day, 3 shooters did pull their weapons, but they were stopped and killed by police officers before they could cause major damage, resulting in 5 officers getting injured. Meanwhile, 2 more shooters were arrested before they pulled theirs.
Why would Celestia order such daring attacks? Forest Arch, Equestria's Defense Minister from 1982 to 2004, says he may know why.
"Celestia had obviously been extremely shaken by the 1980s and 1990s," Forest said in an interview. "She tried to use diplomacy to solve the Griffon Empire Embassy hostage crisis, when 12 hostages were killed by terrorists in 1982, but it didn't work. So afterwards, extremely disturbed and having a mental breakdown that peace hadn't solved the problem, adopted a 'no negotiation' policy for terrorism, similar to Ronald Reagan. This policy required the use of force to combat terrorists and those who sponsored terror. Anyone, in her view, who attacked Equestria and its citizens, needed to be destroyed. She softened by 1990, but when it came to threats, she still took them very seriously, sometimes a little too much."
When asked why no one really questioned this, he replied, "I guess it was because we were about as angry as her, if not more so. When I asked one Royal Guard about it, he said, 'Personally, I'd want to nuke 'em.' He also wondered why they didn't just sent the B.O.T. in and kill Sombra already. The reason why was because we had no idea where he was at the time. We couldn't just act on a small piece of intelligence and screw up. We didn't want to send them to a place that didn't actually have Sombra in it. Remember, he was still in exile. The only decisions he made was which military generals ruled for him and the occasional PR appearance or statement."
"As for Queen Chrysalis," Forest continued. "Trying to kill her would have been suicide. We all knew that she loved to surround herself with many armed guards, more than even Celestia. I jokingly once said to her, 'I don't think even an entire freaking army could take her out.' We were planning something like it in 1990, but after some dumbass tried to do that on his own with a pistol and got riddled with over 80 bullets, we got scared off. Then, in regards to the MAD doctrine, we would never attempt such a destructive doctrine. Our nuclear doctrine in war at the time and to this day is to knock out the launch sites and then nuke the major industrial centres. Afterwards, we would then engage enemy ground forces and use Tactical Warheads."
His words were certainly important to this report. They provide a look into how tense the air was in Canterlot in these years.
