Know how the moon influences the tides? Well, as she was being imprisoned, Nightmare Moon flooded the world. Now Celestia rules a world where sailors are the norm, and there's quite a pirate problem.

Twilight Sparkle is set for life. She's from the prestigious Sparkle family, and engaged to Prince Blueblood, nephew of Princess Celestia herself. Sure the port town of Marevana, where Blueblood serves as governor, is kinda dull and has a few pirates here and there that aren't hanging cadavers, but overall it's a nice life.

Until Twilight gets caught in the crossfire of a raid on Marevana and winds up on a ship with some very skilled yet very strange pirates. Drawing her attention in particular is the captain, a roguish stallion with a devil may care attitude toward most things. The sort of stallion a cultured mare like Twilight would hate. And yet she finds herself drawn to him. Maybe along the way she'll learn a few things about friendship from these unlikely companions of hers.
