He was there when Pinkie Pie was shouting that a new pony had arrived in Ponyville.

He was there to see the stage set up in front of the town hall.

He was there to see her, the pony with the violet fur, the fuschia hair, and the ivory necklace.

He heard her say her name. Hypnos.

He was there when she asked Pinkie to be her "volunteer".

He witnessed the violet pony demonstrate her hypnotism skills on an unwitting Pinkie Pie. He heard the audience snickering and giggling as she toyed with Pinkie's mind.

He was there to see the hypnotist's apprentice, Feather Dance, come shyly onto the stage.

And when everyone was leaving, and Hypnos was informing everyone of the free hypnotherapy and hypnosis classes she was offering, he was the only one to notice Pinkie being once again hypnotized.

He saw her, just out of sight, with the hypnotist's apprentice holding her horn to Pinkie's forehead, magic aglow. Whispering something unintelligible to Pinkie.

It was then that he knew something was wrong.
