"Princess Celestia!" Twilight cried down a stone corridor. What could the Princess want now? She galloped down the narrow hall, passing several libraries and the guard's quarters. "Twilight..." Celestia said in a sickly voice. "Princess?" Twilight said back. "Where are you?" She sounds terrible! I hope she's ok... Twilight probed the hallway, looking at signs and arrows pointing out where to go. She turned around and saw a portrait of celestia as a young mare and another sign that read ; 'The Royal Sleeping Quarters of Princess Celestia' Twilight walked slowly over to the door and kocked on it lightly with one of her hooves. "Come in." Celestia coughed. She laid in her bed, non-moving, silently waiting.
Twilight slowly opened the door to Celestia's bedroom. It was suprisingly simple, and it had things that looked like they were owned by her as a filly. Stuffed animals, toys, a picture of a beautiful rainbow, and a small silver necklace on her shelf with a small pink gem in the shape of a star on it. All the pink cute things in her room were in total contrast to Celestia herself. Her tired eyes were rimmed with red and her fur and mane were dull and not as sparkly as before. Her cutie mark was faded along with her colorful eyes. Celestia's horn also looked battered and she was in no shape to fly. The long curtains were splayed open to show her beautiful view of the city off the balcony.
"Celestia?" Twilight wimpered staring at the ill alicorn. The young pony didn't know what to think of this. Celestia was a total wreck. How would she raise and set the sun? "Why have you b-brought me here... princess?" Twi said quietly.
Celestia slowly lifted her head to look at twilight. The sun was slowly falling toward the horizon as the spoke "Twilight, did I ever tell you how great of a pony you have become? You have gone so far..." Her voice faded out. "I'm not well enough to raise the sun alone anymore..." The sickly princess looked out at the sun. "I need you Twilight..." Celestia began to cry "I'm afraid."
"Afraid of what?" Twilight asked, moving closer. What is she trying to say?
"Afraid of you losing me..." Celesta shakily sobbed. Twilight now knew that the Princess didn't 'Just have a cold' as she insisted. Twilight's head was spinning around in a whirlwind of confusion. Twilight was now as scared as Celestia was. She's like my second mother... I cant lose her! "I know I lied about the cold, but me and luna are hanging by threads. Nopony but you, Luna and I know that. Our rule is just about over. This I know for sure."
"You mean...You're dying? I have to raise the sun and the Moon? I just became an alicorn..." Twilight began to shed tears herself as the sadness hit her. "No, Twilight... I have your Brother and Cadence on their way to help you. I've become far too weak to do my job anymore, and the same goes for Luna. But now I must rest, so if you wouldn't mind, would you please go and visit Luna? She's in worse shape than me... I had to raise the moon yesterday..." Princess Celestia weakly said. "Goodbye... I'll be back tomorrow..."
Twilight entered a very dark room it had little glowing star lights on the cieling and a moon shaped light in the middle. "L-Luna?" Twilight sobbed into the darkness. Twi was still crying from her talk with Celestia. She looked around, but it was no use in pitch darkness. Twilight gave up on looking and she finally decided to cast a light spell. She focused magic toward her horn and it soon began to glow with a flickering purple light. Just as it lit, a rustle came from the other side of the large room. "H-Hello?" Twilight stuttered. She always hated visiting Luna's room. It was way to dark and spooky for her. Twilight was also not as close to Luna as she was to Celestia due to the pony of the night's loud voice and assertive personality. Luna was still learning the concept of friendship, which also made her distant.
"Twilight..." a sick voice hissed. "I've been waiting for you..." Luna's voice stopped and she began to cough uncontrollably. After it died down, the princess flicked on a dim light that revealed her sad, messy appearance. Twilight looked at her in shock "I- I- ughm...." Twilight gulped. "I know... It's terrible, isn't it..." Luna sighed. Luna looked as horrid as Celestia, but her mane was a dull blue, and it was missing it's usually starry quality. Her eyes were white and cloudy. Luna was nearly blind and she couldn't fly or walk, so she was lying in her bed all day. The night pony was noteably skinnier, in fact so skinny, that her ribs were showing. She breathed short shallow breaths with a slight wheeze to them. Luna was exhausted, and she was close to death. Why won't they do anything? Isn't there doctors in the palace?
"Luna... Why don't you call a doctor? They could save you! How haven't they noticed this?" Twilight questioned the equestrian ruler. "Tia... says... They... Must not... know...The...ponies... th-they'll... be afaid..." Luna's breaths were becoming more wheezy and shallow. She finished her sentence an then began to cough up blood "Call... Cele-Ce-Celes-Celestia N-now..." Luna managed to choke out.
Twilight galloped to the room next door to get Celestia. She was sound asleep, but Twi just had to wake her up. Luna was dying as far as she knew. This isn't happening... They just had colds! It's not real!
Twilight kicked open the door and ran to the princess' side. She looked remarkably worse than before. How did she get this bad? It's only been half an hour! "Princess! Princess!" Twilight yelled, waking the sleeping alicorn. "It's Luna! She's dying!" The sun princess stared at Twilight. it took a while for these words finally register to Celestia, and when they did, she slowly rose to her hooves ad stepped out of her bed. Her legs wobbled as she limped out the door and into her sister's room. The sight you say when you walked in was nightmarish. Luna's face was covered in blood and she was still coughing up more. Her wings twitched and she shifted around uncomfortably. Dried and clotted blood stuck to her muzzle as she sputtered up more and more.
"It's time, Luna!" Celestia yelled, shaking her sister to her senses."Time for what?!" Twilight yelled back. The 2 princesses looked in her direction. Luna stared at her with her blank cold eyes while Celestia spoke. "Luna and I knew this was coming... We're losing our magic. Magic keeps all living things alive and healthy, and as you can see, we've lost too much of it. We're past the point of no return, but we can save our legacy. As we lose more magic, moves on, we lose it faster and faster until we parish. It's sad, and I know the pain you are going through. You are ready, Twilight Sparkle. You are an alicorn princess."
"How do you Know I'm ready?" Twilight asked, staring at the withered princesses What am I supposed to do? What are they planning? "We know you are ready. You're our last hope." Celestia said with tears in her eyes. "Our spell with drain us of all magic, but it will also plant a special alicorn filly inside of you. You must carry this foal and protect her with your life. It will kill me and Luna, as it drains magic from us and puts it into the young alicorn. This foal is a part of both me and my sister, and she will one day rule equestria as I once did... You will be her mother, twilight. She'll have your outstanding magic, my ability to raise the sun, and luna's ability to raise the moon."
"I can't be a mother! That's-" "Please twilight!" Luna coughed as she fell to the floor. "You must do this!" Celestia cried to Twilight as she lifted her sister to her feet. A long silence with only coughs and sputters soon was broken. "I'll d-do it..." Twilight said quietly. She was about to be impregnated with a foal. This was too crazy! But she knew she had to do this. Tears streamed down her face as Luna gave Celestia a silent cue. The sisters powered up their horns and she was lifted into the air with a strong beam of magic. A swirling cascade of dark blue and pink light that emerged from the beam wrapped her up like a blanket, finally encasing her in the light. Twilight noticed that another beam was also coming out of her horn as well. Purple light soon began to intertwine with the other energies and they all seemed to come together and create a ball of swirling light. Twilight then observed that the blanket of light was gone and she could see the now well illuminated room in full detail. She saw the 2 princesses who looked more terrible by the second, still putting out the spell. A sudden pain soon hit twilight in her stomach, causing her to look down and see that the ball of light was going through her skin and inside her. This was very painful, but it was soon over when she felt something heavy withen her. It soon felt lighter though, and her now pregnant stomach was pulsing in a pinkish light that died down after 10 seconds or so.
The light began to fade and she slowly floated down to the ground. Twilight flapped her wings in an attempt to fly down faster. It really had no effect. But the second her hooves touched the ground, she ran to the princesses who laid limp on the stone floor. "No! Princess!" the pain of this was too hard to bear. Waves of sadness crashed upon Twilight. She had jus lost 2 of her best friends, and equestria had lost it's rulers. Twilight looked down at her stomach which was slightly swollen. It'll be alright... I'm your mother, and I'll protect you.
