It was an Friday when the news broke out of the Pentagon, Mike and I were at school in english class. As usual we were zoned out looking forward for the weekend to come. We had the whole weekend planned, stay up un-till 2 am playing zombie games and then go to the park with our Airsoft guns etc and meet with our friends to play some dangerous hide n' go seek. Of course this wasn't strictly 'Legal'. It was mostly just fun and nobody got hurt too bad. Well besides this one kid who got shot in the… well never mind you just need to know it was fun. We were approaching the park when we started to hear strange noises. We got to the regular meeting point when we realized that nobody was here. We thought this was an ambush so we got our guns to the ready when mike said "There not ambushing us, they are not here. Look at these tracks"(pointing to the dirt)"These are running tracks, something scared them off". The the strange noises started getting closer, the footsteps louder. Soon they were almost upon us and I started to shoot blindly through the night hearing a verity of groans and impacts, then as if programmed we ran.
When we got home the news was on, My mom in the living room in absolute shock. The president was speaking, in the most secure place in the us, The Pentagon. The pronounced that the apocalypse had begun. They urged everyone to barricade their houses and stockpile supplies. We heard chaos on the street screams of fear and pain. My mom had started to sweat a lot and fell over looking asleep. I tried to shake her awake but it was no good. A heart attack. For mike's case i tried to hold in my tears, what a short life she had, 30 years old and bam. Together we locked all the doors and barricaded the windows. It seemed alright until the power went out. We got some torches from the garage and some more weapons such as a baseball bat a shovel etc. We then went upstairs and packed small bags as we knew we would not be staying here for long. i got all my Airsoft guns, ammo and secretly I took my moms .45 colt. Next i got some camping supplies, tent, sleeping bag mat lamp. After that with nearly full packs we got a lot of water because we knew you die faster without water than food and some food with snacks etc. We took one last good look around the house to see what else we could take and forgot something crucial. Toiletries. We packed them in a bag and stuffed them in our packs and went out the door. We knew we wouldn't be back for a long time.
