Chapter 1 A legend untold
"There must be something we can trade in for food!" Princess Twilight Sparkle yelled at herself. Celestia was doing buissness at Manehatten, and the two remaining princesses had decided to talk about Equestrias' famine. Luna shook her head.
"Nothing. All of the things we haven't given away are magical, and can cause great destruction." Princess Luna replied.
"Your right. But I'm so hungry! I would trade the mirror to the human world for something to eat." Twilight sighed. Luna nodded. "We need gold." Twilight neighed after a moment of silence.
"We can't find any. It's a hard winter this year. Too cold for mining, and even the apples in Ponyville are getting hard to grow." Luna responded.
"What can we sell? Equestria was never famous for its' silver." Twilight sighed again. Luna shuddered as the Princess of Magic said the word 'silver'.
"There is a way..." the princess of the night murmered.
"What?" Twilight turned her head. Lunas' eyes were wide. She clearly hadn't meant for Twilight to hear the comment.
"I.. don't... promise not to tell anypony about this, okay? Nopony, especially Pinkiepie."
"Okay." Twilight promised. Then the ponies trotted to a private room, locked the door, and Luna told Twilight about the ancient secret.
"Twilight! Please tell us what she said!" Pinkie pie pleaded.
"No, Pinkie. I'm sorry, but I promised Luna." Twilight replied. Pinkie sighed and walked away, but luckily her mane wasn't flat. Thank Celestia! Twilight thought, remembering when the pink pony had forgotten everything about friendship. They had barely brough her back from the imaginary, pshycopath world.
"Twilight?" Rainbowdash asked after Pinkie was gone.
"Yes?" Twilight asked.
"I have a bad feeling... I know you can take care of yourself, but... sleep good tonight okay?" the neon pegusas asked.
"I will Rainbowdash." Twilight promised.
"Er...thanks, Twilight." Rainbowdash replied. Then, as usual, she flew out the window.
"How she lives, I'll never know." Twilight muttered, carefully cleaing up the glass. then she walked upstaris and went to bed, being careful not to wake Spike.
Dream
Twilight looked around. the world was a little haz, but good enough. She was flying, an art she had recently mastered. "Weird dream. Oh, I know! Maybe Luna is wating for me at canterlot, like ome other dreams I've had." the alicorn said to herself. After gaining her barings, she flew ahead. But canterlot wasn't here. There were ruins.
"Twilight Sparkle, use the tears of gold!" a voice cried. No.. millions of voices. All the ponies of canterlot. Some of them were dead, some dieing. Luna was in the middle of the disaster, and Celestia lay next to her, not moving.
"Is this the future?" she asked herself, not expecting a reply.
"Yes..." a voice whispered. It sounded both like Celestia and Luna, mixed together.
"You must use the golden tears..." a voice wailed. It sounded like her own, but wiser... her eyes shone as she saw another princess, tall with a flowing mane. This was the future.
"I will." she promised "and these ponies will live. Nothing will happen... as long as I'm here." then, a golden image of celestia apeared. It sparkled, waved, and was rather ghostly. IT nodded, and dissapeared.
"Golden tears..." Twilight muttered. She rolled around in bed. Spike was about to wake her, but thought better of it. He placed her breakfast, waffles with butter and maple syrup with an apple for a side, down on her drawer and walked away.
