Getting Used To It All

The sun set over Sweet Apple Acres in a slow fashion signifying that the day was coming to a close. Exhausted from the days work of apple bucking, Garry puts the last apples in to there respected bins inside the barn. With the last efforts he counted all the apples that he collected. Two hundred fifty-two apples in total. He records this on ledger that Apple Jack has given him three days ago. Sweat protrudes from his forehead and start to soak into the plain work outfit that Rarity made for him. Great.. Garry thought sarcastically. It puzzled him why Rarity would make a posh work clothes for him if they were just going to be mucked up from working on the farm. He would probably never figure the logic behind that pony. Garry laughs a bit from the thought when he puts the final digits in. He couldn't believe that its only been a couple of months since he was "summoned" here to Equestria. He also quite surprised, even flattered, that the unicorn that brought him here was very interested in seeing a human for the first time. But that quickly wore off when he realized that all the questions about were he came from, what he ate on a daily basis, why humans were clothes and many other questions were only research about interdenominational species for the ruler here. At first it insulted Garry that he was just a lab rat for Twilight, but later he got used to the many quirks that Twilight and her friends gave to the table. As he finished up with his last chore for the day, he heard the hoof steps coming closer to the barn.
"OOHH Wee! What a hall Garry, I never seen ya buck so many apples in mah life! Good work" says Applejack in her southern accent. Garry looks over his shoulder to see the orange earth pony leaning against the barn door, crossing her legs as she peers at him with a smile on her face.
"No problem Applejack," Garry turns around to face Applejack, "And thank you for letting me work here, its kinda hard to find work here when everybody here either runs away from you or gawks at you tell you become deaf." Applejack closes her eyes and nods at Garry.
"Aww shoot sugar cube you don't have to thank me, any friend of Twilight is a friend of mine. As for the other ponies around these parts, just give em time they'll warm right up to ya, ain't nothin to worry about." Applejack said. She gave a reassuring smile at Garry. He just gave a weak smile in response. With that, Garry pack up the rest and walked out of the barn towards the library in Ponyville. "Hope Twi doesn't ding you too bad ta night Garry!" she shouted and waved at Garry as he departed. Garry knew what Applejack was talking about, and he knew that the questions were just going to continue to build on top each other for Twilight's "research on interdenominational species." He didn't mind the constant questions about were he live, what were humans like, can humans use magic. He was glad that this pony was actually willing to have a conversation to Garry, regardless it was only one side at times. This was just a small complaint Garry had for Twilight, but he never imposed on the lavender colored unicorn. Along with that, Garry thought it would be rude to do such a thing, minding himself that he is a guest at Twilight's home.
As he walk, he look up the sky. He could see the orange hue of sun down making the sky as beautiful as Earth's sunsets. A small grin appears on Garry's face as he look at the sky, but it was short lived as the trip from Sweet Apple Acres to Ponyville was only about a six minute walk. Garry didn't pay good attention were he was going and accidentally trip over a rock and fell on his face, ripping the white work shirt custom made by Rarity.
"Son of a..." Garry started to curse to himself, but fell short on the word he was looking for. This was strange for Garry for it wasn't the fact that he cared what came out of his mouth, but the fact that he was having trouble conjuring the word he wanted to use to complete his sentience. It was as if it was erased from his mind. Garry shrug off the thought and assets the damage of his work shirt. He was now a dark brown color with a huge torn mark across the collar and along the left sleeve. Garry look up at the sky, it still wasn't dark yet. Maybe Rarity could patch it up before he goes to the Golden Oak Library. He pick himself up and brush some of the dirt off his clothes and started to walk to the Carousel Boutique.
It seem to Garry that it only took only mere seconds to find were Rarity lived. Garry faintly remember were the Boutique, passing it sometimes using different routes to get to Sweet Apple Acres. The tall pink building with a fancy pony sign always put Garry in an unconformable state. He knew the place made fine designer clothing for all the equines here, but he could get past the choose of color. He just shook his head a bit and knock on the door. He still didn't get used to the fact that all the doors seem only at chest height to him
"Come in, Ill be right done help you," chimed a sweet melodic voice from the boutique. He open the door, ducking a bit as we made his way inside. The bell chimed as he walk in. Inside was welcoming with bright and vivid colors. He heard the sound of hooves coming down the stairs. There he could see the white coat unicorn with purple hair walking down the stairs with grace. "Welcome to the Carousel Boutique, where every garment is she- Oh Garry its you darling!" Rarity cut off her normal slogan for her customers, "What can i do- OH MY, YOUR SHIRT!" She exclaimed at the condition his shirt she made for the human.
"Yeah I needed-," Garry started but was immediately cut off by the white unicorn.
"Ill get that fixed right away!" Rarity used her magic to grab a hold of Garry's shirt and merely slid it over his head before he could protest, leaving him bare chested. Garry felt slightly awkward about unicorns and there levitation spells. It felt as if a cold tingly sensation every time Twilight used the spell on Garry when she look at something physical on Garry, and Rarity's version of the spell felt no different. Rarity used her horn to get some white thread and a needle to stitch up the torn parts of the shirt. Garry was impressed with the unicorn's speed and talent with fixing the shirt she made for him. Not only was she quick, but her talent to sew up the tears making it look as if was brand new.
Rarity didn't stop there, no she went the extra mile and used a spell that was unfamiliar to Garry. Rarity's horn glowed a little brighter for a short second and his short made a bright flash. This slightly blinded Garry for he was not expecting this to happen. In fact it made him jump a bit from the sudden flash. When he could see again, the dirt from his shirt was no more. It was spotless like the day he received the gift from Rarity only a couple of days ago.
"There we are," chimed Rarity as she levitated it Garry.
"Thanks," Garry said to the Rarity, "You really didn't need to do... what ever you just did to clean my work shirt."
"Oh but course I do Garry, nopo-nobody," corrected Rarity, "needs to walk around in filthy clothes. Its a crime against fashion and dignity!" Garry just rolled his eyes. He heard from Twilight that Rarity, one of her best friends, was a dramatic type. Stories in which did not give proper credit for.
"I don't thinks it's a crime against fashion when it's just a work shirt Rarity," Garry slightly joked at Rarity.
"Hmmph!" she pouted, looking away from Garry. The type of reaction you get from a high standard girl. She knew he was only joking, sense he first came here, the two of them always argued about fashion. Garry always seemed to be on the losing side for his sense of fashion was simple at best, but he didn't for it always made that unicorn spout on and on about some designer he never heard of. He always did this as just a friendly gesture to the mare. Garry put on his pack down and put on his repaired work short that felt silky to the touch.
"So how much do I owe you?" Garry said as he started to look inside his pack for some of bits.
Rarity look back at Garry with a slight shocked look, "Oh don't worry about darling its the least I could do." She humbly said with a hoof on her chest. Garry look confused for he never like being in debt to anybody, or anypony in his case. But he thank her for the kind gesture and gave her a goodbye.
"Bye Gear Bear, tell Twilight not to interrogate you to hard tonight!" She said waving goodbye to Garry. He just nodded and wave back at her as he started to head to the Golden Oak Library. Garry knew that as soon as he returned to his oak home that the lavender unicorn will great him with the usually questions of his day, fueling her, "research" on him. He didn't mind, intact he looked forward to it. He always find it easier to go to bed when had his almost daily interview with his lavender friend.
The road from the boutique to the library was not a long walk at all. It seem the distance from any point to another point was always shorter than what Garry imagines. He figured that ponies who are about three feet tall making road for their feet as no difficulty for an average stride distance of a six foot human. It was nice. He could see from the distance that the lights library were on, implying to Garry that Twilight and her assistant were home. Garry couldn't remember her assistance name, he could only remember that he was a baby dragon. He had an irrational fear of dragons when he was little and still persisted to this day. However that rear was put to ease when he realized that the said dragon was only just a little guy and harmless. He walk up to the main door and opened it, kneeling down to fit in. There he drag himself to the couch specifically design for him. He then put his pack on one of the arms and laid down, staring at the wooden roof. How could a hollow tree live with all of this stuff inside of it? Garry thought to himself. Before he could ponder any further, he heard the sound of hooves coming down the stairs.
"Garry? Is that you?" Twilight said curiously to the figure that occupied the large couch in the corner of the ground floor. Twilight saw only of an arm giving a thumbs up signifying that it was indeed Garry. Thus began the flurry of questions from from the brilliant mare for tonight.
