My Guardian Angel
Walking With The Moon
Previous ChapterNext ChapterGarry awoke in his room. He yawned and look around the room, remembering his strange dream of how he was somehow in a place there was talking ponies. He chuckled at the strange thought of it. He rose from his bed, ready to meet the day head on. There was only one small problem, Garry noticed that his room was off, he could not quite figure it out, but something was indeed off about how his room was laid out in front of him. Something was definitely odd about this day.
Garry heard a sound from his leaving room. He open to door to investigate, There he found what was different about his home. The lights. The lights were no lights, but instead lit torches guiding towards the living room. A creepy feeling ran up Garrys spine.
He called out. "Hello, Franky you around man?" the only response the house gave back was silence. He ventured out into this living room, investigating what appeared to be sounds of a draft coming in. What he found was not a draft, but a shadowy figure sitting away. Garry was frighten by the sight, he knew this creature from somewhere, but he could not place it. The air around him seem cold and there was an unnatural aura radiating from the thing in Garry's house.
"Excuse me sir d-do I know you?" Garry said with some fright in his voice. The figure didn't move normal. No it moved like a shadow serpent, sliding across the walls Garry could see its face. White soulless eyes peered through Garry's soul. It features looked strikingly like Garry.
"Indeed Garry you do know who I am," the demon shadow purred as it crawled to another wall to continually stare at Garry's as if it was searching for a chink in his armor. Garry was frozen by the sight and sound of this thing. It can't be real, it has to be a bad dream of some kind.
"Ok Garry wake up wake up, this isn't real this isn't real," he said closing his eyes pretending this frightening thing was not there.
"Tsk Tsk Garry you know that won't help." Garry felt an icy touch on his shoulder. He could feel it crawling all over his skin, coiling around his body. Then he was forced to open his eyes again. There he was face to face with this shadow demon. Its eyes were lock with Garry's. "Look," it began, placing a hand on top of where Garry's heart was pounding like a bass drum. "This feels familiar, oh but I can't figure out why?" The demon playfully said as Garry was in terror of the monster that has him coiled up. "Ahh yes, now I remember." Wrath exploded in the demons eyes. His hand phased violently through Garry's chest and into his heart. In that moment Garry's muscles stop functioning, but the demon helm in a standing position The pain was unbearable. Garry could feel the demon having a grasp hold of his heart squeezing and fondling it like a firm breast.
"This is mine, you know, but then it again its ours as well, both of ours Garry, yours and mine," It said purring into Garry's ear. The sheer pain in his chest ignored the demon taunted to him. He felt he was about to pass out. This displeased the demon, know that his little toy was about to expire on it.
"This will wake you up my little Garry," it scolded Garry as it took his heart and gave it a hard squeeze sending a jolt of unimaginable pain through Garry's body and and held his head firm, "Know this Garry, you will never escape me, never will, no matter how hard or how far you travel. I will always find my way." With that the demon squeezed on Garry's heart to the point to where it exploded.
Garry Woke from his horrible dream, gasping for air as if his lungs were cut off. He panting with a cold sweat rolled from his forehead. "J-just a-a dream?" Garry look around, it differently was the Golden Oak Library. Garry breath a sigh of relief. Just a dream. Garry couldn't get back to sleep for had rested his full earth sleep cycle. But it was only eleven at night. Still Garry was not used to lingers days and night. Frustrated he got a simple red tee shirt that he was wearing when he arrived here. He went to the nearest window to see the night. It was a cloudless night, filled with beautiful stars and a full bright moon illuminating the dark landscape outside of his temporary home. A perfect night for a stroll. He knew exactly a place where he wanted to go for a night like this.
He grabbed his pack and went out the door. The air was cool, but not freezing. The bright moon lit up the path of were he needed to go. Right towards the local pond. Ever since Garry could remember, when ever he felt trouble or stress about anything, he could go to the local park and watch the water. If possible he preceded to be alone when he goes on the journey. When he got there his wish was granted. He walk over to the edge of a pond. The water reflected as a perfect mirror. Within the reflection, he could see himself as clear as ever. He could see that his dream he had still troubled him oh so much. People and ponies alike say that the eyes are the doorway to the soul. But, looking into his own eyes, he found it difficult to seek his own soul. He sighed and continued to survey the pond for a while. He heard something flapping behind him and turned around. There he saw a dark purple-blue pony bestow his presence. But this was a strange pony to Garry, for it looks as if it was a unicorn, and a pegasus. He could tell it was a more by her body type. She was about his chest height. Her mane was translucent, but had a slight tint to it, waving so gracefully. Her cutie mark was of an eclipsed moon. Garry knew she had to be important for it was wearing some formal crown on her head.
"What hath Garry, the human of Equestria doing out on my brightest night?" the unique pony spoke to Garry as she tucked her wings to her side.
"Umm...just sitting here an-wait how did you know my name?" Garry questioned the dark pony.
"The Princess of the Night knows many things of her guests and subjects, here and out there," She she gestured her hoof with a formal horse shoe to the stars.
"Princess?" Garry tilted his head. Then it click, he knew who this mare is. "I seen you before, your," He paused to think of her name
"Princes Luna fare Garry of Earth," Luna introduce herself to Garry in a authority voice. Thats when the Garry knew of were he has seen her before. Twilight showed a picture of her in a book she was reading to him about the rulers of Equestria.
"P-princess Luna! I didn't, I should've, I mean I didn't," Garry fumbled on his words when he jump to his feet at the sight of Luna, trying hard to give her the the courtesy she deserves.
"No needeth to give we the royal courtesy, Sir Garry," she shook her head at him, "And please just call me Luna." Her voice started to shift from being harsh and authoritative to a more gentle and sweet, "Come Sir Garry, let us walk this fare night."
Garry relaxed a bit, knowing that he wasn't going to be punish for such a crime of disrespecting royalty. He knew from earth that Kings, Queens, and Nobles are treated to the utmost respect. Any sign of disrespect would surely only end badly. He walked with the Night Princess. He asked her about things of Equestria such as what she is and how things work; she ask him about many things about earth such as the the moon cycles of the earth.
"How doeseth the moon rise on its own, surely you must have some powerful human controlling the moon and the night?" Luna tilted her head as she ask him. He shook his head, explaining to Luna about Earth's Moon
"No princ- Luna, we don't have magic there, their is nobody with magic controlling the moon. I-in fact there is no magic whatsoever. The only magic is there is the magic of physics!" Garry tried to joke with Luna only with the same result of trying to joke with Twilight. Garry coughed and change the subject to not try to make this awkward for both parties. "The sky here is beautiful, more beautiful than the clearest sky back home," Garry said looking at the night sky.
"Thank you Sir Garry, not many ponies, excuse me people, take enjoyment of my nights," she smiled a bit from the comment, taking in the sight of her sky. Garry nodded. The two of them have been walking for sometime, exchanging information from each others lives. Then Garry noticed that the alicorn seem nervous, like a child can't really ask for there toy until the parents says something.
"Hey Luna, you seem a little nervous are you alright?" he said still walking along the paths of Ponyville. She stop in her tracks. Garry knew something wasn't right just when me just stop.
"Sir Garry, as Princess of the Night it is my sworn duty to protect my subjects from any threats of the night," she had a look of guilt, "One of those duties is to act as a shield from nightmares."
"Shield for nightmares?" Garry repeated confusingly.
"Yes," she replied to Garry.
"But why would you need to protect ponies from nightmares, yes there terrifying but it can't harm anyone, right?" Garry tried reasoned.
Luna shook her head, "There is an entity that tries to bring my subjects worst nightmares to life, I have seen its destructive ways and it must not let it happen again," she said in a sincere tone.
Garry put his hand on his chin in a thinking position, "So can this entity you speak of, has it done terrible things before?"
Luna looked away in shame, "Many of my subjects have suffered for my weakness over a thousand years ago. I let it take over me, consumed by jealousy and hatred for my sisters sun," she look back at Garry, "Has Twilight mentioned to you about Night Mare Moon?"
Garry scratch his head trying to remember, "I think so, wait, you don't mean you..?" Garry started to remeber and paused to see if he was right. Luna only nodded in response
"It was this entity that plagues ponies mind, but thats not what concerns me Sir Garry."
"Oh then what," asked Garry.
"I can see my subjects dream, including yours. What I see in your dream land is more, frightening, than I have seen in over a thousand years." Luna shivered a bit at the thought. She began to walk again towards the path the was laid in front of them. Garry followed. This was unnerving for Garry. From what he gathered, this darkness is the prime reason she was banished Luna to the moon when she was Night Mare Moon. But to hear something more frightening than that, and mostly likely here in Equestria was indeed an unpleasant thought for the both of them. However thats wasn't on top of Garry's concerns when it comes to Luna power.
"You-you can see into people's dream?" Garry panicked. He knew his secret was revealed.
"Sir Garry," Luna stared at Garry, knowing what he was asking, "You should feel not ashamed of what you wish to have. This concept is not new to me. Love comes in many forms. Your love of Twilight may be a bit, physical"
Garry blushed. "I-I don't dream those things!" Garry was shaken with embarrassment, "Twilight is just a friend to me, w-why would I..?"
"Many of my subject hide their true feelings from themselves in their dreams, thou should not feel embarrassed to have strong feelings for the student of my sister," she gave a heart warm smiled. Garry look away, knowing that his secret about his desires and feeling of Twilight were exposed to a higher authority. Will he be arrested? Will he be banished? Garry's face filled with dread. "Fear not Sir Garry," Luna walk over next to him, "As far is the laws of Equastria is concerned, you are not breaking any of them. "
The two of them were back to the Golden Oak Library. It was in the same state as he left it. Good. Twilight will never know that he was out and about in the middle of the night.
"Well I must be off, but before I go, take this," Luna open one of her wings to take out a small black bag. She grabbed it with your magic and levitated towards Garry. The bag drop into Garry's awaiting hands.
"What's this?" Garry inspected the bag, it felt light and it seems there were some kind of seeds. A sent of spearmint and vanilla protruded from the small black bag.
"My herb specialist calls thee 'Sleepabeans,' they should help you extend thous sleeps cycles," Luna pointed with her hoof at the bag as she explained. Garry thank Luna and wish to repay her in some way. She smiled at Garry. "Fare Garry of Earth, thou must not need to repay in bits, no, we only wish that you treat your mare friend well." Garry blushed at the sound of 'mare friend.'
"She's not my mare friend!" Garry protested a with a slight louder tone. Luna giggled a bit.
"Thou must not suppress ones such feelings, no matter what creature, remeber that fare Garry," Luna said with a straight voice, I must be off, it is late and you need your rest, farewell Sir Garry." With that she used her magic to teleport out of the scene with in a flash. Garry was stunned that magic like that can just make anybody disappear. He went back inside. It was dark, even for the illumination of the moon. He was watchful to not trip over his own feet. He laid down and took one bean. It tasted bitter like coffee, but it was easy to swallow. It only took a couple of minutes before we start to drift into a deep, deep sleep.
