Dragons Peace: Change Is In The Air

“Blade!” Sarge Blitz yelled.
“Sir!” I replied standing ready.
“The Princess has seen fit to make you the next guard of the changeling. Don’t give in to her. And don’t let her out. DO YOU HEAR ME?” He yelled.
“SIR YES SIR!” I yelled in reply.
“Good! You are dismissed!” He said saluting me off.

Present
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The events that had transpired a few days before were still fresh in my mind. The entire royal wedding was stopped because Princess Cadance wasn’t well Princess Cadance it was the changeling Queen. The very same one I am now tasked to defend. I now think this is a bad idea since the bitch crashed my best friends wedding and attempted to take over Equestria. But I never thought to question why the Princess chose me to guard the Changeling. I just knew she had a reason and I didn’t need to know yet. This is going to be fun. Finally here. I slowly opened the cell door to find Chrysalis chained to the wall.
“Oh look a new guard.” She stated blandly.
I just walked in and sat in the corner away from her.
“Oh so you aren’t going to talk?” She questioned.
I continued to ignore her.
“Ignoring me that isn’t going to help.” She stated.
I looked away and began to daydream only to be snapped back when she lunged at me.
“You don’t scare me guard.” She hissed.
“And you don’t scare me changeling.” I hissed back.
She stepped back to her original position, “So you can talk. Well then out with it what’s your name?”
“Dragon Blade.” I stated.
“Dragon Blade. That’s a new one.” She said satisfied, “Ha it almost seems like you are part dragon.”
If only she knew I was. I thought.
“So who did you make angry to get to guard me?” She asked venomously.
“I was assigned to this post by the Princess.” I stated calmly.
“So you got on your Princess’s bad side. What did you do?” She asked again.
“I didn’t make anypony mad.” I stated.
“You must have in order to be sent to guard a monster.” She hissed.
I thought about what she just said for a few moments. “A monster? No. You have a heart and a soul. that alone makes you more than a monster. I have been sent to guard you because you are a prisoner. There is no other reason behind it.” I said calmly.
She just stared at me for a while. “Not a monster? That’s a first.” She said. I could hear a hint of loneliness in her voice. She just laid down.
That loneliness reminded me of myself... once long ago. In that time before I joined the guard. When I had nothing. After the cultists attacked. I felt sorry for her. If only for a few seconds. But it was long enough for her to notice.
“I don’t need your sympathy. Nor do I want it.” She hissed at me.
“I wasn’t giving you my sympathy I was... remembering my past.” I stated.
“That’s not what it seemed like. You are one of the strangest Guards I have met. I find you interesting.” She said laying her head down.
I began to shift around trying to find a comfortable position.
This isn’t going to be as bad. At least she’ll talk to me. I thought.
I don’t want to be a jerk, “Good night Chrysalis.” I said not expecting an answer.
She growled in response, “Go buck yourself.”
Oh this is going to be fun. Quite fun. I guess I might as well sleep not much else to do. After the torture she’s not going to be attempting escape any time soon. After a few minutes of laying there I fell asleep and was hit by the dream.... No... Memory I hate. I wish I didn’t have it but I do.

Dream / Seven years earlier
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“DOVA! DOVA! WAKE UP!” My father shouted me awake.
“Yes Sir!” I said as I jumped out of bed and prepared to make it.
“No No let the servants do that today. I have something else for you... Meet me down in the altar
room after you get ready!” My father said to me as he left my room.
I began to wonder what he had in store. But I went along with my duties. First is a bath.
I finished up with in a few minutes then it hit me today was my 17th birthday. Today I learned my
course!
I rushed downstairs to eat a quick breakfast and get down to the altar.
“Woah woah Dragon where are you going so fast?” My mom asked me as I almost slammed into the counter.
“Today is my...” I began.
“..17th birthday. I know that silly.” She finished, “I have something made for you... this is a
special day...”
She placed in front of me a large plate of... pancakes.. oh sweet Celestia I haven’t had these in a long time...
“Eat up you’ll need it!” My mom said to me.
I dove into the pancakes and engulfed them as quickly as I could. By now Mom had already left
to go do whatever she did daily. I didn’t know.
I got up and washed my self off quickly and galloped down to the altar room.
When I arrived I was greeted with a scene. Cultists were gathered around the altar.
“Wha..” I began to say until my father pulled me down.
“Stay quiet.” He hissed.
I complied and we moved along the outside.
“It seems they are after the tablet.” My father said.
One of the cultists spoke, “Ahkemn tul alandra mek canta.”
The others replied with, “Alendrama kanta nek corma.”
“No... they are attempting to summon Kronos....” My father said, “Wait here I’ll try to stop them.. if I fail.... run. And never look back. Head to Canterlot. Do what you do best. Fight. Try to get in.”
I slinked back into the shadows as my dad revealed his dragon form and charged the cultists. I watched the slaughter ensue. He succeeded in slaying them all.
“It’s safe to...” He began to say but a dagger cloaked in... my moms aura slid into his heart.
“You thought you could win? Think again traitor.” My mom laughed.
Wha...? I need to get out of here.
“Now come out Dragon make this easy for yourself...” She said.
I felt oddly stronger.... and faster... wait.... this makes no sense.
Then a mare charged down at my mom? Wait that mare... is my mom.... WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
“BLADE RUN! RUN DON’T STOP FOR ANYPONY JUST RUN!” She screamed as she fought.
I escaped through the dark recesses of the cave. I made it to the outskirts of my village and... ran even more.
I didn’t stop running for a day or two. I was within sight of Canterlot when I collapsed. Thankfully a few new recruits were training out there.
One of them approached me, “Hey are you alright?”
“Of course he’s not alright he just collapsed! Lets get him to the hospital!” Another said.
Finally another approached me and said, “Don’t worry we’ll get you somewhere safer so you can rest....”
“Who’s that?” The final guard said.
“You shouldn’t have ran from us. Now you can’t escape.” A cultist said as he flew down.
“No....” I said weakly.
The final guard drew his sword, “Back away from him....”
“And what can you do?” The cultist asked.
“I will kill you if you step any closer to him.” He replied.
“... Fine.... But... He won’t escape us forever.” The cultist said as he took off.
“Tha... thank you...” I said.
“No prob. By the way my names Shining Armor.” He said to me as he helped me up.
“My... my name is Dragon Blade....” I said.
“Cool name... Hey how far did you run?” Shining asked.
“From.... from Asheville.....” I said.
“Holy! That’s close to 120 kilometers! I think you should try to join the guard when your better.” He said.
“I... I just might.” I said with a smile.
“Hey when the Doc says I can I’ll visit you. It’d be sweet to hear whatever story you have to tell!” He said again.
“Yeah.. I’ll tell ya when you visit....” I said as I began to black out. Exhaustion finally caught up with me.
