Broken Homes and Mending Hearts

  Twilight was just sitting down, enjoying a good book on mathematical theories, when a knocking erupted from the door. She didn’t bother to get up, knowing that her trusty assistent spike would answer it, and as she was about to call for him he called out.

  “I got it.”

  She simply just continued to read, soaking in the knowledge of this book. she did this whenever a new book came to the library, so that she had strong knowledge of what it is and what it holds for anypony who would request it or need it. When she heard the door close, she looked up from her book and hollered out to spike.

  “Who was it Spike.”

  “Just derpy dropping off the mail.”

  “Ok. just put them down here for me. Thank you”

  Spike just grunted and went back to doing whatever he was doing. Twilight pu a bookmark in her book and levitated the stack of letters to her. She began to read the letter titles to see if any of them were important at the moment.

Request, request, thank you letter, letter from mom and dad. book order… wait, a letter from mom and dad.

  She smiled and discarded the other letters onto a table and opened the letter from her parents immediately, not wasting a moment in reading what it is they sent. When she finally got the letter out of its envelope, she began to read it.

Dear Twilight,

Your mother and i decided it was time to visit our little daughter in her new home.

At reading the first line, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt. in the whole time she was in ponyville, she hasn’t once invited them over. She continued to read.

We will be there in a weeks time. we can’t wait to meet your new friends and talk about how you have been ever since you became an element of harmony. we always knew you were a princess, just you were always are princess before this. see you soon.

  Twilight couldn’t help but shed a single tear from this. She couldn’t wait to show her friends her parents. Then Twilight began to think. She hasn’t really met the others parents except for Applejacks, but Grannysmith really isn’t a parent, just a guardian.

  At this thought, Twilight decided to throw a family day gathering at the library for everyone to meet. That way we all get to meet each others family, Twilight thought giddily, quite proud of herself at this perfect idea, she decided to invite her friends over to discuss it the next day.

Rainbow dash just finished her job clearing the skies, when Applejack yelled up to her.

  “Hey RD. Ya done yet. Twilight needs us at the library for a second.”

  “Yeah, i’m done.”

  Rainbow dash flies down and lands by Applejack. they begin to walk towards the library. Rainbow Dash was getting bored and decided to bring up something to talk about to break the silence.

  “Soooo, why does Twilight want us again?”

  Applejack just sighed, having told her several times that Twilight was gonna tell them when they got there, that Applejack didn’t know why they were being called.

  “look sugarcube. I done said this several times now, i don’t know, you know as much as i do right now.”

  Rainbow Dash just sighed out of annoyance. She didn’t like not knowing anything about what was going on. Applejack knew Rainbow Dash long enough to understand her hatred of silence.

  “we’re almost there. you can hang in there for five more minutes.”

    And indeed she did. When they got there, Dash knocked on the door, thankful to do something. She was impatient, and when spike opened the door, she just barged in.

  “He-aww. jeez, hello to you too.”

  Applejack just shook her head as she entered the library.

  “Sorry about her, you know how she is.”

  “Yeah, but still.”

  As Applejack entered in, she noticed that Rainbow dash and her were the last to arrive to the meeting. She walked up to Twilight and Rainbow, who were discussing the sudden call for the meeting.

  “Hey Twi. how are you?”

  “Hello. I’m fine.”

  “A’right. So what’s with the meetin’?”

  “I’ll tell you and everypony else in a sec. just waiting for the tea.”

  “Oh, a’right.”

  Applejack just walked over to the others and started up conversation while waiting for the meeting to start. Rainbow dash was apparently told the same thing, because the second twilight left, she just followed Applejack with a huff.

Twilight was excited. She quickly gathered six cups and the tea. she had a smile on her face, she made for the others. When she got in there, they all stopped talking, except fluttershy, who was just sitting there next to owlicious.

  “Hey girls, tea is ready.”

  Rarity immediately seized a cup with her magic and hovered it over. Rainbow dash on the other hand wanted to get to the point.

  “Ok Twilight. Why are we here?”

  The others nodded their heads in approval of this question.

  “Well, my parents are coming in to visit next week and want to meet everyone.”

  Everyone just got excited and asked her many questions, but she didn’t answer and put a hoof up to tell them she wasn’t done with her news. She continued.

  “Since they were coming over, i decided to make that day a family day and invited you and your families over.”

  They grew even more happy, except for two of them who just looked down. Twilight saw this and walked up to them and questioned them.

  “What’s wrong guys. can’t come or something.”

  Rainbow dash just looked up and spoke for them.

  “Well, you see. i don’t know where my dad lives and fluttershy hasn’t seen her father ever since cloudsdale and doesn’t know where he lives either. a shame isn’t it. i guess we will have to pass. sorry about that Twi. We can still drop by though.”

  At this, Twilight just cocked her head to the side. She then smiled at her friends, not pushing them further on the ordeal. After the announcement, they continued with just socializing for another few hours, then they all left Twilight and spike by themselves.

  Twilight yawned and began to clean up the mess left over from their little gathering. She couldn’t help but to think about rainbow dash and fluttershy not knowing where their fathers are at. She began to think about how she could help them. Then she found out how. She decided to surprise her friends on the day before that she found their parents. Then Twilight began to think about how she could find the mares parents. She figured it out. She could send Shining armor a letter to find the twos parents by describing who the parents daughters were and he could send out a few scouts to find them. Twilight was all giddy that she had a great idea and almost didn’t fall asleep, almost.

Twilight woke up the next morning with a lot of energy. She was about to call spike for a letter, but seen her dragon friend still asleep. She decided to kind and went off to her desk to write it herself and have spike send it later.

  She went about her usual deeds for that day. She finished the new book and decided to go for a walk. She walked around for a bit and decided to go to Applejacks stand to talk to her. When she got there, she greeted her before AJ could.

  “Hey AJ.”

  “Hey there sugarcube. Need me to do anything for ya?”

  “Yeah, i was wondering if you could cater the party, i’ll be able to pay for it, and i’m paying for it.”

  “Are ya sure sugarcube? I don’t want you to pay.”

  “Yes, i’m positive. Anyways, i’ll see you next week AJ. Goodbye.”

  “Bye.”

  Twilight walked back to the library and realized something. The library was a mess. She had to clean it. From the looks of it, it would take a week to clean it. So she began to clean it. The more she cleaned, the more she started to realize the mess would actually take more than a week. Luckily, she was able to clean the library by then and called a meeting the night before the meeting.

  Before the meeting, Twilight was pacing back and forth. She was nervous and worried that her brother wasn’t able to find her friends fathers. But right when the others started to show up, so did a grey pegasus with a letter with the royal seal. Twilight quickly opened it up, while her friends entered and started to decorate the library for the event the next day.

  Twilight walked off reading the letter.

Dear Twilight,

I have found the ponies in question and asked them about your affair and they both replied with the fact that they would be happy to go. I will also be going to this event myself. It’s been too long since we have been together as a family.

Twilight was giddy with excitement. She immediately grabbed Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy. She pulled them aside and began to tell them.

  “Guess what. I’ve got a surprise.” She said, waiting for them to answer, but they just looked at her with matched expectation of what the surprise did.”

  “I found your dads, and I invited them tomorrow and waited until today to tell you about it.”

  Fluttershy was the first to speak, which Twilight found odd.

  “You what?”

  “Yeah, i found them, and they said they were coming, isn’t that great.”

  Twilight was so proud of herself, that she didn’t notice the fear in Fluttershy’s voice, but did however notice the mare run out of the library in a panicked manner. Twilight just looked out the door, then looked over to Rainbow Dash. Confusion on her face, she was about to ask her cyan friend what happened when her friend looked up with tears and a face full of anger. Twilight stopped in her tracks when she was yelled at.

  “TWILIGHT!!! HOW COULD YOU”
