Chapter 2: Equestria
I crawled over to the mirror and, somehow, stood up on my four legs, getting a better look at myself I noticed that I have dark blue hair, wait or is it a mane? Meh, whatever, but it also has grey tented into it making it look pretty cool.
So, I then tried walking, it took me three tries, but I got it. I walked, unstably, over to the window and what I saw shocked me even more, there were ponies, everywhere, not a human in sight. Mother of God… I thought to myself shocked.
Well, Alex, it’s time to meet these… err… ponies. I thought to myself as I began to walk out of the room I was currently in. It began to become easier to walk in this body, the door to the bedroom was in a hallway, which led to a set of stairs, going down, on the right and more rooms to the left. I began to walk, slowly and unstably, down the stairs, but somewhere I slipped up, literally, and fell down to the floor.
I stood up, again, shakily, and started to walk to the door that led to the outside world, but then I heard a knock on my door. I walked over to the door, and began to open it; on the other side of the door was a white unicorn stallion, with a purplish-blue mane, and a bass clef for a cutie mark.
“Eclipse, what’s up, bro?” The white unicorn asked me in a laid back voice.
“Who?” I asked the unicorn at the door of the house I was in.
The white unicorn gave me a puzzled look, “Uh… Eclipse, are you okay?” The unicorn asked me in a voice that had a hint of concern in it.
I looked back at him with a straight face, “No, everything is not okay; I go to bed and wake up in a strange world of ponies!” I shouted at him, the unicorn took a step back at my outburst at him, I don’t know why I did it, maybe it was because I’m scared… like seriously, wouldn’t you be a little scared if you suddenly woke up in a strange world, full of talking ponies none the less.
The unicorn laughed at what I just yelled at him, “Dude, you’ve lived here for years and you’re just now noticing that it’s full of talking ponies. Seriously what else would there be if it wasn’t ponies?”
I was at a loss for words. Wait, this pony must have lived here where I woke up at. I looked at the unicorn straight in the eyes and said in a straight voice, “Come inside, we need to talk.” The unicorn had a puzzled look on his muzzle, but he trotted into the house I was currently in.
“So, Eclipse, what do you want to talk about?” The unicorn asked me as he sat on the floor, looking at me strangely.
“First, what’s your name?” I asked the unicorn, realizing that I never asked him for his name.
He gave me another confused look. “Lunar Blitz. Eclipse, I thought you knew this stuff; we’ve been friends for years. Did you get amnesia, or something?” The unicorn, apparently named Lunar Blitz, said to me.
“Lunar Blitz, may I tell you something?” I asked the white unicorn, with complete seriousness in my voice.
“Sure, man.” Lunar Blitz told me in a flat voice.
“Well, basically, I’m not the-err-pony who you think I am. In fact I’m not a pony at all, I’m a human, who has no idea of how I got here, or where exactly here is.” I told the white unicorn.
The unicorn began to laugh at what I had said. “Good one, dude. I haven’t heard a joke like this one in ages.” Lunar Blitz continued to laugh at my ‘joke’.
I gave Lunar Blitz a death glare, seeing that I wasn’t laughing with him, he stopped laughing. “I’m. Not. Joking.” I tell the white unicorn, and this time he gets the message, and realizes that I was being completely serious.
“Oh… you’re not joking. So, umm… what’s your name?” Lunar Blitz asked, now realizing the seriousness of this.
“I’m Alexander Orin, but just call me Alex.” I tell Lunar Blitz in a matter-of-factly voice. “So, Lunar Blitz what do you do around here?” I ask the unicorn.
“Well I’m a DJ, DJ LUN3R, to be exact.” The DJ unicorn boasted.
“So, Lunar Blitz, do you know anyone who can help with my-err-current predicament? Or at least anyone who can tell me more about this place?” I ask Lunar Blitz, hoping someone here knows how to help me, how to get me back to my world.
Lunar Blitz nods, “Yeah, I think Twilight might be able to help you, but she’s going to have A LOT of questions for you.” Lunar Blitz tells me as he motions me to follow him out the door.
I walk to the outside world, it was amazing, the ponies here were every color you could imagine, and there were many pegasi, unicorns, and just normal ponies, ones that didn’t have a horn or wings. But one thing I did strike me as odd, it was that I barely saw any male ponies here; most of them were all female.
One pony caught my attention, it was a bright pink mare with a darker pink mane, she was bouncing around talking to everyone she saw, almost like if she was friends with all of the ponies here. The pink mare seen me and Lunar Blitz and began to come over here with a smile on her face.
This mare looks familiar… like I’ve seen her somewhere. I thought to myself, confused on how she looked familiar to me.
“Hi, Eclipse. Hi, Lunar Blitz. What’s up?” She said in a hyperactive voice, with a large smile on her face.
“Hey, Pinkie.” Lunar Blitz told the mare, while bumping hooves with her, “We’re just going to Twilight; Eclipse here says he needs to talk to her.”
“Oh oh oh, can I come too?” The pink mare asked, hoping she could come too.
Lunar Blitz looked at me, and I just shrugged, to tell you the truth I really didn’t care if she came or not. “Sure, Pinkie, you can come.” Lunar Blitz told the pink mare and she jumped up in excitement.
“This is going to be so much fun!” Pinkie exclaimed, happily, bouncing up and down, like she was the happiest mare in the world.
The three of us trotted through the town, actually one of us hopped, but eventually the three of us made it to a large tree-house thingy. Lunar Blitz knocked on the tree-house thingy’s door and the door opened inward to reveal a purple unicorn mare, with a darker purple mane and tail with a pink highlight in them, and a cutie mark of a purple star with other stars around it. For some reason, Twilight looked strangely familiar too, like I’ve seen her somewhere before.
“Hello, Twilight, I have a friend here who needs your help.” The unicorn said to Twilight while he pointed a hoof at me.
“What does he need help with?” Twilight asked Lunar Blitz, unsure why they needed her help.
“Well it’s a long story.” I told the purple mare, “May we come inside, and talk?” I ask her politely.
“Yes, of course you may.” Twilight said happily as she stepped out of the doorway, allowing us to enter into the tree. When I entered I could immediately tell it was a library, books were everywhere on the shelves neatly organized. “So, what do you need help with?” Twilight then asked me.
“Yeah, whatcha need help with?” Pinkie asked me happily, with a large smile on her face.
“Well first off, I’m not a pony.” I tell them in a serious voice. Twilight and Pinkie look at me like I was crazy, heck, to them I must seem it. “Well, actually, I wasn’t originally a pony, I just woke up this morning as one; I used to be a human.”
Twilight looked at with a confused look, “Human?” She asked me.
“Uh… they are usually around 6ft tall creatures that are bipedal in nature and possess hands and thumbs which allow them to manipulate objects and create new technological advances rather well. They have the typical four limbs, but as previously stated, two are for walking, while the other two are free to be used for whatever task maybe at hand. They also wear clothing all the time, in most cases. Furthermore, every human as a specialized face with two small eyes across from the bridge of their nose, with a mouth right below the nose. Their ears are on the side of their head rather than ontop. Most humans are hairless as well, only possessing it lightly on the arms and legs, but mostly on the head.” I say to the ponies in the room, Lunar Blitz and Pinkie give me blank stares at the description I gave while Twilight had a small notebook levitating in the air while writing the stuff I said down.
Wait… levitating… what the…. “Umm… Twilight… how… how are you… levitating those…?” I ask wide-eyed at what Twilight was doing, it was magic, magic, something that didn’t even, truly exist on Earth.
“Oh, this is only a simple spell; just about every young unicorn knows it.” She said calmly, “Why, can humans not do magic?” She then asked.
“Nope, us humans cannot do magic… or fly.” I said, dumbstruck at the thought of all unicorns able to do magic.
“What?!” Twilight exclaimed in a shocked voice, “No magic?! How do you guys live like that?” She then asked.
“Well, we have hands.” I simply state, now getting more used to the fact that unicorns are able to use magic.
“Oh… hands are useful, just ask Spike.” Twilight said as she returned to her notebook.
“Spike?” I asked, for I had not heard that name before.
“Oh, he’s my assistant; he’s a baby dragon that I hatched myself.” Twilight said happily. Wait… a dragon… a dragon… god, what have I got myself into?
“Speaking of Spike, where is he?” Asked Pinkie with the happy voice she always has.
“Oh, he’s out with Rarity, he’s helping her get some gems.” Twilight told her pink friend.
“Okay, back to the matter at hand, so what is this place?” I asked the ponies in the room.
“Oh, that’s an easy one, you are in Ponyville!” Pinkie exclaimed happily, “Wait, you’re, in a way, new to Ponyville, I need to start planning!” Pinkie dashed out of the door, going somewhere else.
“Can you please tell me more about the place I’m in, Twilight?” I asked Twilight, since Lunar Blitz told me she’d help.
“Well you are in Equestria; Ponyville is a city inside the country of Equestria. Equestria is run by two governing bodies, Princess Celestia, and Princess Luna, two alicorns. Princess Celestia raises the sun every day and Princess Luna raises the moon every night.” Twilight explained to me.
“Wait… they raise the sun and moon?” I ask getting more shocked at what this world has, and how different it is from Earth. “Wait, what’s an alicorn?” I then ask.
“Yes they raise the sun and the moon, and an alicorn is a pony that has the combination of a pegasi’s wings, a unicorn’s magic and horn and an earth pony’s strength.” Twilight then said happily. Earth pony… that’s probably the pony that has no horn or wings, or normal ponies. I thought to myself.
“So… an alicorn is combination of all three ponies in Equestria?” I ask Twilight curious at this.
“Yep, currently there are only three alicorns in Equestria, the third being Princess Cadance, or my sister-in-law.” Twilight told me happily. The rest of the morning was spent talking to Twilight about the history of Equestria, and other things that would help me out in this strange world. The afternoon was filled with me telling her everything about Earth and what it was like. The conversation ended when the sun was beginning to set. I walked out of Twilight’s house and began to walk towards ‘my’ own, strangely enough though I didn’t see another pony on the whole trot to my house.
I went up to ‘my’ door and opened it, what happened next caught me by surprise; it was a lot of ponies shouting out: “SURPRISE!” I took a step back at this, and looked around the room. Pinkie bounced up to where I stood.
“Welcome to your ‘Welcome to Ponyville’ party!” The pink mare exclaimed at me, happily. “Come on; let me introduce you to everypony!” Pinkie began to drag me around ‘my’ house introducing me to everyone in there, until we got to a small group of five ponies, one of them being Twilight.
The others introduced themselves to me. The first one being a cyan pegasus mare, with a rainbow colored mane, and a cutie mark of a cloud with a rainbow colored lightning bolt coming out of it. “Hi, I’m Rainbow Dash, the fastest flyer in Equestria.” She boasted, proudly, in a raspy voice.
The second pony to greet me was an orange coated earth pony, with a blonde mane and tail, her cutie mark was three apples, and she had a Stetson on top of her head. “Hi Alex, Ah’m Applejack, welcome t’ Ponyville.” The orange mare said in a happy, southern accent.
The third pony to greet me was a white unicorn mare, with a dark purple mane, and a cutie mark of three diamonds. “Hello dear, I’m Rarity, I own the Carousel Boutique in Ponyville.” Said the white mare in a more refined accent then the others.
The final pony to greet me was a pale yellow pegasus mare, with a light pink mane and a cutie mark of three butterflies. “Umm… hi… I’m...” She muttered, hiding behind her mane.
“What did you say?” I ask her.
She mumbles something again, and then Rainbow Dash tells me, “Her name is Fluttershy, she’s always like this with new people.” I let out a small chuckle.
“Well, everbo- err- pony, I’m Alex, and it’s nice to meet all of you.” I say to them happily.
“It’s nice to meet you too, Alex, we love making new friends.” Twilight told me in a happy voice, and the other five ponies, even Fluttershy, nodded.
I smiled. Friends, huh? I can get used to this. I think to myself. I’ve had friends, just not many, and none of them became my friends so soon. That statement made me happy, happier than I had ever been in my life. My eyes started to water, but I wiped it away when nobody was looking. I was happy. If only I could stay there forever, but I also felt sadness, what happened to the human me, what if I died on Earth, how would my parents react?
I couldn’t stay here, I would have to leave, but I didn’t want to. Here I was accepted, here I was happy, truly happy, but… I’d have to go back.
