Happy Birthday, Nightmare Moon!
"Princess, there someone here to see you," Blossom said hurrying into Luna's room.
Luna was still sleeping, so she used her magic to yank her cover off and pull the blinds up simultaneously, flooding the room with bright sunlight. Luna screeched and sat up, looking surprisingly young as she stared at Blossom with wide eyes and clutched her blanket.
Don't even think about it, she checked herself. Don't go there.
"What is it?" Luna asked, breaking into her thoughts. "Is something happening?"
"Uhh, no, but there's someone here to see you. They said its urgent. Very urgent, and that they will do bad things if you don't come."
The Lunar Princess squinted at her and frowned. "Bad things? Bad things like what?"
Blossom shrugged. "I'm just the maid, what do I know?"
Luna scowled and stood up. "Five minutes of my time," she muttered. "That's it."
"Aren't you going to put on your, you know, your..." Blossom gestured to Luna's crown. "If it's important, it could go to court."
"If it's important, I'll teleport up for them. That's what I did last time, isn't it?" Luna's voice echoed in the room as she trotted into the hall.
Damn it! Luna thought as she left the room. I was having a really good dream there about me being friends with a wizard! I can't believe Blossom decided to wake me up! What a horrible thing to do!"
"Hay, Luna, Twilight found some human pictures, you want to see?" Celestia asked, sticking her head around her bedroom door.
Luna growled.
"No, I really don't want to see a picture of a monkey! I've got a visitor!"
"Oh, okay, maybe later? Luna? ... Luna?" Celestia repeated, even though Luna was halfway down the hall.
Luna reached the door and could hear breathing coming from it. She opened it and it took a few seconds for her eyes to adjust to the bright light. When they did adjust, she could see a mare in a cloak watching her with skitter pupils. Rage stepped in, even though she didn't invite them, and kicked the door shut.
"Princess," she said, bowing her head sarcastically.
Her voice was so familiar...
Luna lifted the cloak from the pony with her magic and gasped. The pony underneath was tall and slim, with a long pointed horn and elegant sleek wings. Her eyes were azure with off white pupils and slits, and her mane was long and starry. She was very familiar to Luna, who gasped.
"Nightmare Moon!!!"
Nightmare wasted no time. She looked around and began to speak quickly. "Today is my birthday, and on the moon, remember, we had parties together. Remember how fun they were? Well, I've decided this year I want a party like that, except not on the moon, right? I mean, it's the least you can do, considering you nearly killed me with your stupid Elements. I mean, you helped me, got me stuck on the moon, you betrayed me and blasted me with a rainbow. So, I'm counting on this party."
"And what if I don't do it?"
Nightmare smirked. "Hmm, let me see. Well, for a start, I know all about that teensy mind controlling spell you used on Discord to sway him over to the good side. If you want, I could gently use my magic to break it, get a video camera, and see what happens! Sounds like fun, doesn't it?"
Luna's eyes widened. She was being blackmailed. By Nightmare Moon. Who wanted a birthday party. And if she didn't get one, she would turn Discord evil and watch the chaos happen, completely unaffected. And Luna knew she completely would do it. Even when they were best friends, Nightie had always been true to her word, honest as Applejack, with her Nightie Promises.
Nightmare eyed her. "And I Nightie Promise I'll do it," she added, confirming that the two alicorns were on the same thought line. "Cross my soul, bring eternal night, Nightie Promise I won't forget," she recited. "You can't break a Nightie Promise."
"Or a Pinkie Promise," Luna added.
"Huh?"
"So, I guess I'll have to find you a party and I'll get a Pinkie to help me. She loves parties, I think you know her."
Nightmare grimaced. "Oh yes, laughter. Well, your not allowed to ask for help as well, and your Promise extends to a present. Nothing big, just eternal night for a day or something that's all I need."
"Eternal night for a day?!" Luna squeaked. "You'd be lucky if I'd get eternal night for a second!"
"My offer still stands. I know where Discord is, you want him to join the party? Oh, or you could also join me, if you like?"
She was trying to be calm, but she was flexing her wings and looking nervously around. So that attraction was still there.
FLASHBACK
Nightie was flexing her wings and not looking at Luna, who tilted her head to one side. Why was she acting so weird? Was she ill? Did her wings hurt.
"I... I got you a Hearts and Hooves Day Card," she blurted out suddenly.
"That doesn't compensate for getting me on the moon, Nightie!" Luna cried.
Nightie cringed and blushed. "N-no, it's just... I really like you! But as not a friend, as um, I, I love you!"
She words echoed in the still air around them.
END FLASHBACK
"It's hard for me not to kiss you," Nightmare blurted out. "Oh my god, your cute. But I don't love you. It's just a like thing. Y'know, a phase. Phases last longer for alicorns."
Luna nodded, not trusting herself to speak.
"So, um, can I stay for breakfast?" Nightmare asked suddenly. Luna's head snapped up.
"No!"
"Meh, I thought I'd just ask," Nightmare shrugged and teleported out.
Luna walked back up to her room to try and figure out what just happened. "Okay, so she still likes me, I can live with that. She will release Discord if I don't plan the perfect party and get her the perfect present, I probably can't deal with that."
"Tia!" she called down the stairs suddenly. "Tia, i really need some advice! Nightmare Moon loves me, and she also wants me to give her the perfect party and present with no help and if I don't she'll cancel the good spell on Discord!"
There was silence.
"That's nice, Luna! Wait, WHAT?!"
Author's Note
Yeah, it's short. But it's a filler so you know what is going on, and I don't want to stick it in with another chapter. I would make it sucky. And yes, Nightmare has a crush on Luna.
They are also separate beings, cause I always figured Nightmare being general with Luna as her second in command.
