A Magical Adventure
Chapter 5
Previous ChapterNext ChapterShawn went back to the boutique and grabbed his shirt so he wouldn’t be walking around outside shirtless all day. He didn’t see nor hear Rarity so he just assumed she was either napping or was out with one of her friends. As he walked out the door he began to think about what Applejack had asked him. Thinking about it almost brought a tear to his eyes.
“I want to stay, but I want to go home as well. Thing is, back home nobody really notices me and no girl ever wants to talk with me or get to know me or anything. I’m alone back home, but here… I’m gonna have to choose,” Shawn reasoned with himself. He just kept on walking a path kicking a smoothed out pebble. Deep in thought, he didn’t realize he was out of Ponyville and in the woods on the outskirts of town. Sighing he looked up to the sky and saw a lonely pegasus sitting on a cloud. Recognizing who it was he yelled, “Hey Rainbow Dash!”
She looked down at him and just waved hello back. He got a puzzled look on his face and then looked around and saw he didn’t know where he was. Originally he was going to go visit Twilight and learn more about the control of magic, but he got so deep into his thoughts he got lost.
“Hey Rainbow Dash, I have a question,” he shouted up again. This time he saw her wings open up and she fluttered down to the ground to meet Shawn. She was rubbing her eyes when she landed. “You okay?” he asked her.
“Yeah I’m fine,” she replied.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes!” Rainbow snapped back.
Shawn flinched and then relaxed. “Wow you don’t have to get upset I was just going to make sure you’re okay. Don’t really like the thought of people being upset,” he said to her before asking, “Well anyways, do you know the direction back to Ponyville? I was supposed to meet Twilight, but I got caught up in thinking about a decision both me and Tom will have to make.”
She looked up at him in curiosity. “You and Tom? What decision will that be?” she asked, rubbing one of her eyes once more and sniffling.
“Well eventually we will have to decide whether or not to stay here or leave. I was talking to Applejack and I think I’ve convinced myself I should stay, but I don’t think I will,” he informed her. Dash just nodded her head and seemed to be fighting back tears. “Dash are you-,”
“Yes I’m fine!” she snapped again before flying off.
“Hey, wait! You have… to show me the way to Ponyville,” Shawn said, talking slower as his sentence drug on. “Well damn it, now I AM lost.”
“I can help you,” a silent voice suddenly came from behind him. Shawn spun around and saw a pegasus who was rubbing her arm as if she felt embarrassed to speak. She was yellow and hiding most her face behind a pink main. She wore a green top that seemed to be made of leaves and her shorts looked like grass woven together.
“Umm, ok. What’s your name?” Shawn asked, even though he knew exactly who she was.
“My name is Flutterhshy,” she said whispering her name. Shawn just looked at her with a confused look on his face. “It’s Fluttershy,” she repeated.
“I think I heard you that time, is it Fluttershy?” he asked, playing along to make it seem like he just heard her correctly. She nodded her head and looked away from him to hide her face even more. “Alright Fluttershy, can you please show me the way to Ponyville so I can meet with Twilight?”
“You know Twilight?” she asked, suddenly looking at him and no longer hiding her face completely.
“Yeah I met her when I got here; she’s showing me some things with my magic.”
“Oh, okay, well it’s off down that pathway and go left when it forks,” Flutterhsy told him, pointing down the path to where it would fork.
Shawn smiled then turned around to walk off. “Thanks Fluttershy, I will make this up to you in some way. You help me I will help you,” Shawn said as he walked off.
Fluttershy just turned around and her cheeks grew a crimson red. She got a slight smile on her face before spreading her wings to fly off. Shawn hummed a little tune to himself while he walked back to town. He was looking in the sky trying to see if he could spot Rainbow Dash on another cloud but didn’t see any hint of her. I wonder what Tom is doing, Shawn thought to himself.
Tom
“Ya know hut, I think thish ish a great bottle of wine,” Tom said, half drunk.
He then pulled Cheerilee closer to him and kissed her on the head. Then he rolled his head over to see Mint had her face buried between Berry’s legs. Berry watched Diamond eat her out and her cheeks were a shallow red color. She then took a drink from a newly opened wine bottle. Cheerilee then reached down and began to slowly stroke Tom. He just chuckled and leaned his head onto hers. Berry then reached over and shook him.
“You can’t go to shleep chet. We haf mow fun planned,” Berry said, partially sober. She then crawled across the bed, away from Diamond Mint and laid with Cheerilee.
“Let’s start up a round two maybe?” Cheerilee suggested, being the most sober of the group.
Shawn
“Alright well I think I made it in time for our lessons,” Shawn said to himself as he knocked on the door.
“Come in,” a voice said from the other side.
Shawn slowly creaked open the door and poked his head in. he noticed Twilight by a stack of books; she was copying something from a book to a piece of parchment.
“Hey Twilight, I’m here,” Shawn said as he walked in, closing the door behind him.
“Okay, well if you give me a second then we will begin the lesson,” she said without even glancing towards him.
Shawn clasped his hands together behind his back and began to quietly hum to himself. Glancing around the room, he saw how many books she had. An impressed look came on his face when he saw a pile that must’ve been her recently read pile. He then began to wonder; Where is Spike, I haven’t seen him at all really. Well I guess he could be napping.
“Alright done,” Twilight said putting her quill in a small container of ink.
“Cool, so what are we going to begin with first?” Shawn asked walking towards her.
“Well I figure we could begin with another simple spell, or one of your choosing.”
“Okay well what about that teleport spell, I wonder if I have enough ability to learn that.”
“Well not everypony can learn spells like that. Magic is usually related to their special talents, and by the looks of things I can’t even get a hint that you have yours,” she said pointing towards where his cutie mark should’ve been.
“Yeah, well how am I supposed to find my special talent out if I’m even able to get a cutie mark being as I’m not from here,” Shawn gloomily pointed out, sounding a bit upset.
Twilight just put a hand to her chin and began to think. She looked about the room to see if any books might have an answer. There had to be a book with an answer at all. Then she remembered something.
“Wait, I know a spell that can temporarily reveal a random cutie mark. Maybe we could use that to see if you are able to get a cutie mark,” she said, pointing a finger at the air in her thought process.
“Yeah maybe, but… Fine we can try, one sec,” Shawn said undoing his pants and sliding them off slightly to uncover where the cutie mark would show up.
Twilight then took a few steps back and began to concentrate. Her horn glowed slightly and gradually got brighter. Soon sparks began to fly off and onto the ground. Once some of them hit the ground they went out. Others went out as they fell to the ground. Then a small image began to develop on his hip.
“Hey! Hey, it’s actually working!” Shawn exclaimed.
Twilight then opened her eyes to look at his hip. “It is working!” she exclaimed and stopped concentrating. She then gained her posture and ran over to hug Shawn. “You can have a cutie mark!” she exclaimed again.
“Yeah I can!” Shawn yelled along with her.
She then held him at arm’s length and smiled at him. Then they heard a knock at the door.
“Twilight dear are you in here?” came a familiar voice. A white unicorn with a purple mane then poked her head into the library. “Oh I can see you busy. I’ll come back later then,” she said getting ready.
“No Rarity… wait,” Shawn said turning to look at her, “I just found out I can get a cutie mark!”
“Oh well that’s just great. Do you have any ideas what your talent might be?” Rarity asked him, stepping into the library. Shawn looked at her and smiled.
“Well actually I was hoping you could help me found out. I told you a lot ‘bout me that first night I was here,” Shawn said.
He then sat down and looked at her. Rarity looked at him in thought as well. She nodded her head as she recollected what he had told her about himself. Then a thought hit her.
“Well you told me how you once wrote those stories, you said you enjoyed that and people said they were good. Maybe that could be your hidden talent,” she suggested.
“Well it is sometimes thing that ponies enjoy doing and others it just happens,” Twilight said.
“I did enjoy writing and it made me feel good. Even the poetry I wrote, I enjoyed thinking of,” he then went into thought for a moment. “It’s like the winter breeze, words so tormented. Turning all around, ever so twisted. Mind is so full of fantasy. Seeing all this now is reality. I know now how I really feel. Everything is so real,” Shawn poetically said, finishing it off by looking at Rarity.
She smiled and blushed a little. Shawn gave a little grin and then looked towards Twilight. She just sighed and shook her head.
“It isn’t there,” she said.
Shawn looked at his hip and saw she was right. Rarity looked at him as well, her face losing its smile. Shawn soon had disappointment fill him up.
“Well this sucks. I thought for-,” then he stopped midsentence. He felt a tingling on his sides. “Wait I think it is working,” he said as he looked at his side. There was a cutie mark consisting of a scroll with crossed quills behind it.
“Dear, you got your cutie mark!” Rarity gladly announced.
She then threw her arms around Shawn. Shawn put his arms around her as well. He gave into her embrace and enjoyed it. She enjoyed the feeling of his arms around her body, the warmth of him combining with hers. They then pulled out to arm’s length and were ready to kiss. Then Twilight jumped onto Shawn with a hug.
“Congratulations!” she said, wrapping her arms around his chest.
Shawn raised his arms and chuckled a little bit. Shaking his head he patted her arms and said, “Okay Twilight you can let go now.”
She let go of him and blushed a little bit, embarrassed. Shawn just chuckled a little more, still in disbelief that he actually could get a cutie mark. Man I have to show Tom, Shawn thought to himself. Excitement soon filled up Shawn, making him more hyper than usual.
“Hey do either of you know where Tom could be?” he asked them, with a smile still planted on his face. They both looked at each other a shrugged. “Umm, ok well I gotta go find him and tell him this!” Shawn exclaimed before running out of the library.
He went running down the street to burn off energy and find Tom. Ponies were staring at him as he ran by, a silly grin on his face. He ran around the streets for only a few minutes before he stopped at an open area to look and possibly spot Tom.
“Man, that guy was an ass,” some mare said as she walked by. Those words caught Shawn’s attention, it had to be Tom.
“Excuse but what guy?” he asked approaching the mare.
She turned around and pointed to a stallion leaning on a table next to some mares who looked disgusted. Shawn just lost his smile and got an annoyed look on his face. He may not have been around Tom personally but hearing about the time he got hammered and swore to never drink again. Of course he did but not as much. Sighing Shawn walked over to him and could smell the fermented fruit.
“Tom have you been drinking?” he asked him, tilting his head to look Tom in the eyes.
“Hey Shawn, ol’ buddy, ol’ pal; how is it going with you?” Tom asked him, putting a smile on his face.
Shawn sighed and shook his head. “Well I just found out something,” he said, pulling his pants partway down to reveal a bit of his cutie mark.
“You got a tattoo on your ass?” Tom seriously asked him.
Once more Shawn got an annoyed look on his face. He shook his head and sighed. “Tom your drunk aren’t you?” he asked even though the answer was obvious.
“Me? No not at all, but you know what I have been doing? Two chicks,” he said holding up four fingers, “not one, but two. At the same time! It was so great, too bad once I sober up this party will be over. Halloween always has great parties,” Tom said, disillusioned.
“Awe shit man, you’re hammered,” Shawn pointed out.
“Don’t worry man, I will pass out, wake up, sober up, and this place will be gone.”
“Tom, dude, this place is real. The ‘people’ you’ve been hitting on are real. The wooden post you have your arm around as if it’s your date, is real.”
Tom then turned his head to look at what he had his arm around. “Whoa, it is. I wonder where the girl I was with went.”
“Tom we need to get you somewhere where you won’t hurt anyone.” Shawn then grabbed him by the arm and began to pull him to the side.
“Let go!” Tom yelled, jerking away.
By this time Rarity and Twilight were standing there watching Shawn try to get Tom to go along. They looked around and noticed that a crowd was beginning to gather around. Rarity leaned into Twilight and whispered something into her ear. Twilight immediately got a look on her face as if she had just been hit with a brilliant idea. She then turned and ran off, away from the developing scene.
“Tom stop being so stupid and let’s get out of here, you’re making a scene,” Shawn said, his temper beginning to get the best of him.
“Why don’t you leave, and go fuck yourself!” Tom yelled back. He then looked past Shawn and noticed Rarity. “Go fuck yourself, and I’ll fuck her,” Tom soothingly said, starting to walk towards Rarity.
Shawn saw him begin to walk off and became confused. Then he saw who Tom was walking towards. He clenched his fists and bowed his head. His muscles tensed up in his arms and legs. He began to then whisper to himself words that weren’t understood by anyone nearby, but him. Tom looked back at him and became confused.
“Big baby,” Tom said before turning towards Rarity. He put a smile on and asked, “So you want to go get some wine and maybe some action?”
Rarity’s face shot red. Her eyes then began to dart around the area, looking at all the crowd. Sweat quickly formed on her brow and her hand shook slightly. That one question surprised her and made her nervous.
“Well dear I can’t go with you,” she said.
Tom got a disgusted look on his face, and then ranted, “Why, am I not good enough? Is there someone better than me? Are you a lesbian, ‘cause I got a lot to offer down there.” This carried on for a few more moments before a plan formulated in Rarity’s head.
“Well actually, I agree. Come on, let’s go to the library,” she said, grabbing his hand to guide him.
Shawn looked up and saw what she was doing. His eyes went wide with shock and then narrowed as he glared at her. Sadness soon replaced part of the anger in him. The other part was partially redirected towards Rarity. A tear rolled down his cheek and he turned to storm off.
It was a close to dusk when Shawn sat down underneath a tree. The shadows hid the expressions on his face, and any movement from his lips as he whispered to himself. Tears began to well up in his eyes, and one rolled down, onto his nose and dripped to the ground.
“Hello?” came a soft, sweet voice. Shawn jerked a little and looked up. There stood a yellow pegasus, holding onto her upper arm again. “Hello, Shawn.”
“Hey Fluttershy,” Shawn said, voice clearly choking. He wiped his arm across his face.
“Are you okay?”
“No. No I’m not. I’m a paranoid with problems, and every time someone gets close or is starting to they hurt me.”
“Oh… Well I have something that might cheer you up,” she said.
“Nothing will, now please just leave me be,” Shawn said, almost asking.
“But,”
“GO AWAY!” Shawn suddenly yelled out of a rage.
Fluttershy took a step backwards from him. She looked into his eyes and saw anger. Her lips began to tremble and tears developed in her eyes. She bowed her head and began to sob. Shawn looked at her and felt bad. She then turned away and ran off. Shawn sighed and looked up at the sky. It looked as if a storm would be rolling in and Fluttershy had run off in a random direction, blinded by tears.
Shawn pulled his senses together and his eyes widened. “Oh, shit,” he said to himself, getting up off the ground. He then took to the ground running after her.
The wind had picked up and small raindrops began to hit the ground. Then a gust of wind swept through and almost toppled over Shawn. He bent to the ground and held onto the grass. Wind picked up greatly after that and the rain seemed to fall even harder. Shawn kept his head down to not get rain or dirt in his eyes. He then looked up to see if Fluttershy was anywhere nearby, but instead a lightning bolt hit in front of him. Then that’s when Karma struck and lightning struck him down.
