The world was crumbling around her, the ones she loved, fading away never to return from the dark. The land, broken and shattered, uninhabitable as the world was shrouded in her everlasting night. The lands of Equestria, now only a frozen wasteland where no life could thrive, her only friend was now the endless frost. All others had lost their lives to her night, either freezing to death, or falling off the edge of the ever encroaching abyss.
Land fell away all around her, falling into that abyss, ever increasing and never relenting. She stood there on top of the mountain in which Canterlot once stood, overlooking her land, but not without tears. She thought of all the lives which she had taken, all the lives that were lost to her beautiful night. Her sister had died by her hoof long ago when she returned.
She was the last in Equestria, and the last in the entire world. She was truly alone, more alone than she had ever been on the moon, not even her other half still lived, as she sacrificed her very being to bring upon the night eternal.
Life had ceased to exist, and all the pain of those she hurt flowed through her veins, making her know those she had harmed. Never again to feel happiness or freedom. Her punishment was to live on until the world had crumbled to nothingness, a spell cast upon her by her sister for what her other half had done.
She looked to the edge of the lands where ponyville was starting to crumble and break away into the abyss. Her vision clouded by her tears, made to watch in sorrow, never to be able to break the sight of what she had done.
She stood there shivering from the bitter cold, feeling nothing but the cold winds pelting her as she stood atop the mountain. Crying as her memories of days long past were brought to the forefront of her mind. The days she spent laughing and playing with her dear sister and mother, the days she spent with Discord playing and messing with other ponies before she had to seal him away, the day she learned her first spell from her grandfather, Starswirl the Bearded.
She remembered as each of them faded away, one by one. Her mother dying in front of her from cancer, sitting at her bedside as she slowly closed her eyes one last time, holding her hoof as she was taken away from her. Discord turning the world into utter chaos, not one race of the world unaffected by his “fun”, having to seal him away in a statue to return the world back to what it was, she had to seal her best friend away, never to hear his joyous laughter again. Her grandfather sacrificing himself to save Celestia and her, sealing away the Crystal Empire so King Sombra could never get his hooves on them.
The one that hurt the most, was the death of her dear sister, Princess Celestia. When she returned, her mind was clouded by Nightmare Moon. She had killed her own sister in cold blood, casting a spear through her dear sisters chest. She was allowed to watch as her sister fell before her eyes, the spear breaking the skin and exiting through her back. Nightmare Moon had walked over to Celestia, laughing as she watched in horror from the back of her mind. Not able to scream, not able to cry, only able to mourn her as she died in front of her. Helpless.
Celestia had used the last of her power to cast a spell onto both Nightmare Moon, and her, so they could watch as the world faded away, watch as all the ponies and other races died a slow and agonizing death. Nightmare Moon soon casted the spell which would create an eternal night, leaving Luna all alone, as all others feared her as the one who killed her own sister.
She was brought back from her sad memories as the last building of ponyville fell away, along with all its belongings. She turned away, trying to leave the sight that was all around her to no avail. She watched as the fields below Canterlot started to crumble away bringing another sad memory to the forefront of her mind.
She remembered running through the field with her sister, playing and tumbling through the grass as small fillies, giggling as they did so. Remembering the smell that was in the air and how beautiful the day was, the grass glistening from the dew of the morning, waving slightly in the breeze. She remembered the feeling of the sun and the laughter and happiness her sister had brought her before her fall.
As the memory finished the last of the field fell away and the mountain below starting to crumble as well. The tears now coming in full now as all she knew and loved before her fall simply fell into the abyss of nothingness, never to be seen again. She remembered her friends, and her family, her guards and the ones she knew nothing of, forced to feel the pain of every tormented soul that was killed by her greed.
The abyss slowed as it reached Canterlot, nibbling away at the edge of the once beautiful city, now overrun by an eternal frost and broken from the years of neglect. She watched as the statue of her old friend broke away, watching as the statue broke revealing discord, only for him to scream in agony as the abyss took him, causing Luna to cover her mouth with her hoof as she watched her friend die.
The Castle of Canterlot breaking and falling away into the abyss. She lowered her hoof and screamed from the sadness, letting the tears continue to fall to the ground below her. She screamed until she couldn’t anymore, her face matted with tears that would no longer come, the frost that settled on her body, not allowing her to move. The abyss was finally ready to take her as it reached the final 10 meters of Equus left in existence.
She raised her head as it slowly came to her, closing her eyes for one final time as the abyss took her.
She let out one final scream as she faded away.
