This Is Our Life On Earth
(Just to let you know, I live in Malaysia. So time works differently there.)
Mathew jolted awake with his bloodshot eyes wide open in his queen-sized bed as he directed his pupils to the culprit of his daily disturbance. He was awoken again by his stupid noisy alarm clock that wakes him up every morning. He resented this, since this is the fortieth-time that clock woke him eight in the morning. And he always forgets to just simply shut it off.
Mathew couldn't hold the grudge on it anymore. He squeezed the clock until it's deformed like a tin can with fustration, spewing gears and some trinkets, threw it out of his window and it landed as a splash into the sewage water in his backyard, choking a fish that’s been living there. ( Yes, they’re fishes in there. I've seen people fishing there.)
Unfortunately if he's awake, he couldn't go back to sleep unless he's very exhausted or completely nothing to do. That way he's rested and can do anything without feeling drowsy and ended up making a big mess around the house.
What's more importantly, he does have some house chores to deal with for now. And going back to bed won't change the fact that the chores are unfinished. So, he grunted in frustration as he gave up sleeping and got up from his bed, get out of his room, picking up a towel along the way, and instantly into the bathroom.
He hanged his towel afterwards on a rack and twisted the faucet on. The water that collides and smoothly slides onto his body is undeniably cold. But, he didn't care much about that since he didn't even flinch. Moreover, his country has a hot and wet climate (I'm Form one. So, shut up! What do you know about Geography?). So, he mostly find this refreshing and cool and that lightens up his mood. He felt like a new person altogether.
Once he feel like finished, he twisted the faucet back off. Then, he pulled the towel of the rack and dried himself with it. After that, he wrapped the towel around his waist. Even if their's no one else al all except him in the house, he still want to keep his modesty.
Mathew walked back into his room and slowly shut the door. he rubbed his face in drowsiness before yawning for a while. It's hard staying awake when you wake at eight and slept at twelve at midnight. Though he admitted that it is his fault of doing so. Because he assumed some college students did the same. That's probably the reason why they failed their exams. (I'm not blaming anyone, okay?)
He slide opened his reasonably-sized wardrobe and finds some clothing that would suit him for today. He chose a slightly worn grey Adidas t-shirt and a three-quarter shorts and hastily put them on.
He later went downstairs to have some breakfast. Although, the varieties of whatever he's going to eat are very little. He isn't the type to cook or at least know anything about cooking as well. So, he only can make white rice, fried eggs, fried noodles or if he's feeling too lazy to wash the apparatus afterwards, he would make a quick cereal.
Mathew hasn't felt shame on that subject because he knew he deserved it. He wouldn't help his mother on cooking just because he doesn't like getting injuries like her mother does. In the end, it still wasn't worth it when he's older.
Mathew chose the cereal for today. He's not going to endure another washing up this weekend. Besides, it's difficult enough just to get the oil scraped off that sticks like glue on some pans. Yet, he tried hard and gave all his effort to get rid of the grime off the utensils. He ended up having wrinkled, white and apparently clean fingers as a result but was quite satisfied of what he has done.
He opened his cabinet and pulled out his cereal box. He tore it open and poured the cereal into a ready, empty bowl he took out. He later took out some milk and pour that in as well. And finally, he inserted a tablespoon into it and straight away he's off to the living room.
He searched for the remote control that's hidden somewhere in the living room. He later located it under the sofa, obviously. He then slumped down on his sofa, placed the cereal on his lap and turned on the television.
He was watching some news about the tragedy of MH370. He remembered the first time he heard it, he was devastated and couldn't bear the description of what happened. But as the news went on with the story again and again only to add some new information for the past few days, Mathew has mostly felt annoyed than pitiful on it.
Suddenly, a honk of a motorcycle distracted and startled Mathew and nearly lost balance of his cereal bowl. Mathew paused the television, placed his half-eaten cereal on his coffee table and went out to see what's going on.
He saw a mailman's motorcycle. It's probably him that beckons him to come out. He wore his slipper on and walked casually towards the mailman.
" Encik adalah Mathew Golezerg, kan? ( Are you Mr· Golezerg?)" he asked as he reviewed the address of the letter before turning back to him.
" Ya. Jadi? ( Yeah. So?)" he casually
" Ni untuk encik. Tolong tulis tanda tangan kat sini. (This is for you and please, write your signature here.)" He gave him a parchment and a few envelopes and Mathew wrote his signature down on the clipboard.
" Trima kasih. (Thank you.)" he said and went off politely into the pavement.
" Sama-sama. ( Your welcome.)" he replied and smiled sweetly.
He ripped open his envelopes one by one as he was walking back inside.
" Let’s see... junk, junk, my water and my electricity bill." he read it aloud as he closed the main door.
But by a very strange chance, he happened to have a very ancient parchment as well. Which made him stop and feel odd.
" Wait, what’s this?" he asked to himself as he put the rest on a table nearby.
He observed the parchment carefully. It has a rough texture to it, meaning that it's actually from more than five-thousand years ago-type of paper that particularly no one uses it anymore. What's more baffling, is that the insignia on the ribbon was nothing related to any other country he knows.
He believed it's like an actual letter from someone he mostly wouldn't know at all or how he got it in the first place. He thinks the answer is in the letter itself, though. So, he tore the ribbon off the parchment, unfold it and started reading carefully.
" Dear Mathew,
Greetings,I'm Princess Celestia. Ruler of Equestria. As you may know, It has come to my attention that you’re going to expect a visit from my faithful student and some other residents soon. Don’t worry, You’ll find them okay overtime So, I’m sending you this letter as a notice for you and a request to guide them the nature of your stunning world, have them explore the boundaries until the end of earth, understand your personality and vice versa. So, please take the opportunity and take care of them like a family and have a good time with them. They’ll be staying with you for a week. So, prepare the accommodations, and by the end of the visit. I’ll give you the decision. Please accept, thank you.

He scratched his head in confusion. And he read it once again to make sure he's not mistaken.Apparently, He wasn't. He's starting to think that this is a bunch of garbage or a prank. But, the genuine smell of the ink on the writing may prove otherwise. Plus, he doesn't know anyone else who would have a very elegant handwriting than his parents or government officials. Of what he’s only able to take that he actually believed this letter. He was speechless. It’s just too much for him to compromise.
But before he could figure it out, a white flash of light suddenly appears in front of him. He quickly jumped back before shielding his eyes that's blindingly bright to him. As the light died down, he opened his eyes slowly and he couldn't believe what he's seeing right now.
" Look, we've arrived! The spell worked, at least." the purple unicorn called out.
" I don't mean to be rude or anything but, this guy’s house is kinda lame." the cyan pegasus complained.
" Rainbow Dash! That is NOT how we treat our host’s resident!" the white one turned to her and warned harshly.
He was so shocked he couldn't think normally. He started quickening his breath and rubbed his eyes but the ponies are still there, with a confused expression on their faces.
" Alamak... (OMG...)" he faintly exclaimed and fell to the ground. The pain somehow numbed as his visions began to blur. Losing consciousness, he slowly closed his eyes as his hearing started to muffle the shouts and screams from what he can tell was a dream.
Mathew opened his eyes slowly as he regains consciousness. His vision still blurry and his words slurry. But his hearing has recovered perfectly and he could identify two girl voices.
" Look, he’s waking up!"she let out a sigh of relief.
" Huh?" Mathew faintly said. Unfortunately, no one can hear his voice.
" Is his face gonna stay that way?"
As Mathew has regained his vision, he’s able to see two small yet cute horses. The purple one is a unicorn with a purple and pink stripe hair with a weird sparkly tattoo thing on her ass, The pink one however, has a fluffy pink hair nearly similar to her coat and has three balloons tattoo on her ass.
Mathew rubbed his head as he tried to recall what happened earlier. First, he gets a letter, then, a flashing light appears, and finally, he saw nine ponies after that. He highly assumed that it was a dream and with him seeing these ponies again he thought he's still is.
" What’s going on?" he tried to ask if the ponies were real.
"Well, duh. Haven’t you read the letter?" the pink horse reminded, still smiling sweetly.
Mathew left his jaw open with shock. He certainly is dreaming and he's probably not going to deny it. He rubbed his temples while shaking his head.
" What are you doing?"
" He's trying to wake up. But he actually is because this is no dream." the pink one obviously can tell.
Mathew thought that was now true. The pink thing is correct. He isn't dreaming at all. He might as well accept it that this is actually reality and not some fantasy anymore. He is sane enough to compromise it. Though to be honest, he wouldn't like it if his neighbour would come scolding him off by screaming loudly and these ponies will think he's gone a bit mad.
Even if these ponies are real, he's not going to sit there and keep asking questions that could go on for hours. So, he removed his blanket off his body and got up. The ponies stay out of his way for him to go through them. He quickly went into the kitchen and took out six mugs from the shelve and some teabags from the cabinet. He carefully laid the mugs in order on a plastic tray. Then, he dropped in a teabag in each mug. He later poured hot water and and dissolved some sugar in it. Mathew leaned back at his work.
" Just like mother used to make. I miss her..." he recalled the bitter moment he had. He went to the sink and washed his face and tried to forget it.
" It's just a week. Yeah, a week then it's over." he rubbed his head gently with stress. He doesn't know what he's supposed to do when guest are around his house. He hardly gets visitors. Well, he knew the probability of his relatives he know and loves would come over for dinner or for Hari Raya Eidulfitri.
" But, a lot of things can happen in a week. If I thought about it clearly, they would either be a help or a mess. That I'll figure it out when time passes. But what's more important here, is that could they change me for the better or for the worse. Ugh, no, it can't be. I'm over axaggerating here..." he shook his head slowly. But when he looked back at the dish tray, he smacked his head in forgetfulness.
" Oh no, I almost forgot. The tea!"
Mathew carried the tea back into the living room and gently placed it on the wooden table. The purple pony called the others to rejoin. Mathew could see about nine ponies and a dragon around here. Each took a seat where ever they can get it. Everyone took a mug except for RD, Pinkie Pie, Spike and the CMC. The ones did took it had a small sip and felt the great sensational taste of it. It even has a mix of sweet green tea aroma.
Mathew just eyed the ponies for a while. He could tell that nearly all of them are mares. Tough luck for him, women to Mathew, they are a mysterious bunch.
A few minutes of silence continues. No one made a sound after he had woken up. Everyone felt a bit awkward when they just keep staring at each other. Until, Mathew began his conversation.
"C'mon, calm down. you can do this." he thought silently before saying anything. He was never a social person( true story)
" So..." he awkwardly said.
" This is a warming welcome. "
