Through the clouded dream world she floated. She felt strange, her sides burned. “Don’t try to get up my faithful student; you passed out suddenly when you arrived here in Canterlot.I didn’t think it would happen this quickly.” Said Princess Celestia

“Princess, what’s going on here, why do my sides feel like there on fire?” asked Twilight Sparkle

“The time for answers will come later Twilight Sparkle. For now you need your rest. If the rest of you would be so kind as to follow me to my throne room. I have something to tell you.” Said Celestia signaling that the other’s in the room should follow her.

“Guards leave us; there is something of most private importance I need to discuss with my guests.” Said Princess Celestia as she walked through the doors to the throne room.

“Yes your highness.” Said the guards with a bow before they left. Once the guards had left Celestia closed the doors and turned to the others.

“What I’m about to tell you I never thought I’d have to explain to anyone.” Said the Princess a grim look on her face.

“Does it have something to do with the reason that Twilight has grown wings?” said Fluttershy a scared look on her face.

“It does indeed my little pony.” Answered Celestia

I wish that there was another way, but until we capture the people after the princess’s life is no other choice than for her to go into hiding.” Said Midnight reaching for the bundle of blankets. “I swear me and my wife will take the best care of her. She’ll want for nothing I swear it!” The lightning outside struck again lighting the dark room, as the small alicorn started to cry.

“Please just let me have a few more seconds to say goodbye.” Cried Celestia clutching Twilight to her chest. “I’ll love you forever, goodbye my dearest Twilight Sparkle.” Said the Princess casting the spell that would take the alicorn’s wings away from her until the time was right for to rejoin her mother, and handing her to Star Dancer.

“This won’t be forever Princess.” Said Star Dancer bowing to the Princess. “I know how hard this has to be for you, but I swear we will take good care of the Princess.” Began Star Dancer before the sounds of footsteps interrupted her.

“You have to go quickly! Take my daughter and run, do not look back no matter what you hear!” Ordered the Princess shoving the bundle of blankets into Star Dancer’s arms.

“Thank you so much Princess good luck.” Said Midnight before the two unicorns teleported out of the castle’s tower, and into the dark night. Just as the door opened to reveal a lavender unicorn.

“Good evening lover.” Hissed the lavender unicorn his eyes glowing red. “Where is our beautiful daughter? I have something I would so love to show her.” Said the unicorn pulling a dagger out of his cloak.

“You’ll never lay your hands on her Shadow Storm!” Snapped the Princess her horn glowing with magic. “I sent her away. Far beyond your reach, and as long as I draw breath you will never touch her!” Finished Celestia charging at her ex-lover with all her might.

“You may have sent her away, but you forget just how much power I command. The Brotherhood of Shadow will find her, and when we do we will kill her. I will not have anything that links me to you.” Raged the lavender unicorn throwing the dagger at Celestia. Just missing the white alicorn as she managed to dodge.

“You foal! Do you really mean to fight me, you really think you can match my power; you have no idea who you provoke! I will strike you down here and now with every bit of the power I have in Equestria!” Roared Celestia impaling Shadow Storm with her horn.

“You cannot stop me!” coughed Shadow Storm as the blood trickled from his mouth, and he cast a levitation spell upon the dagger thrusting it into Celestia’s flank with the last ounce of his magic. “I may die here, but the Brotherhood of Shadow lives on. It will claim the life of your precious Twilight Sparkle, and my greatest mistake will be rectified.” Moaned the lavender unicorn coughing up enough blood to stain Celestia’s white coat red. “If only I had seen sooner what loving you would bring. Perhaps then I could’ve prevented myself from falling in love with you, but now with my last breath I curse those eyes I fell in love with.” Gurgled Shadow Storm as the blood began to pool in his mouth, and he died.

Celestia levitated the body off of her horn, and lowered it to the floor. She then removed the dagger from her side. She cast the knife aside as she healed the wound with her magic. Then she looked down at the body of the unicorn that she had once called her lover. “What a fitting end for such a lost soul, but now I’ll never know why you succumbed to evil. I loved you so much. Rest in peace Shadow Storm. Your soul is free at last.”

“So Twilight’s own father tried to kill her?” asked Rarity appalled looking as if she were going to faint.

Twenty years later though it seems that I have won the fight. What you don’t know my little ponies is that the last known member of the Brotherhood of Shadows in the dungeons right now awaiting execution.”

“It is why i called Twilight Sparkle here, so I could undo the spell I cast on her so many years ago, explain why it happened to her, and then she can see the life leave the eyes of one of the people who had threatened her life all those years ago.” explained Princess Celestia “but it would seem that is not necessary anymore. The spell broke of its own volition. We knew if the right time came it would. That time must be now. The spell must’ve known that I was going to break it. This turn of events is a good thing; it will help Twilight Sparkle to accept this. I have no idea how I’ll explain this to Twilight Sparkle, but it will help me if you guys will help explain things with me. She trusts you completely. Will you help me? Will you help me explain to my daughter why I did the things that I regret most.” said Celestia tears pouring down her face.

“We can be there for you Princess, but it’s you who has to explain it.” Said Spike who so far during the total conversation had stayed silent. “I have no idea how Twilight will react to what you say, but she does love you I know that. She’ll listen to what you have to say, but if I know anything about Twilight she’s probably freaking out that she’s grown wings. If you plan on explaining why you had to do what you had to do now would be the time.” Said Spike walking up to the princes and padding her on the shoulder.

“Thank you all. Yes you’re right Spike; the time is come for me to tell my daughter about what happened, and why her mother gave her away so many years ago.” Said Princess Celestia standing and heading out of the throne room followed by the five ponies and one Dragon.

I knew it was you, after Midnight and Star dancer appeared from what you turn them into after I stopped you proved my suspicions. I knew I had found you at last my beautiful daughter Twilight.”

“Then I had to make a decision that I wish I never have to make again. I sent you against mine and Luna’s old foe.”

“Discord.” interrupted Twilight a grim look on her face.

“Indeed, as you know Discord escaped his stone imprisonment, and stole the elements of harmony. He set out to turn you all against each other. He used his magic to transform you into the embodiments of the things that each of your elements do not represent. He turned beautiful honest Apple Jack into a filthy liar, He turned Pinkie Pie into a jerk who cannot take a good joke, He turned kind and generous Rarity into a greedy hoarder, He turned kind and caring Fluttershy into a cruel bully, and last but not least. He turned loyal and trustworthy Rainbow Dash into a traitor who abandoned her friends.” Said Celestia pausing as the others remembered the near defeat at Discord’s hands.

“I’m glad you did what you did Princess, if you hadn’t sent me back my friendship reports and reminded me just how important our friendship was Discord would’ve won.” Said Twilight. Looking into Celestia’s eyes and smiling.

“When i seen what was happening. I couldn’t just stand by and watch as my daughter, and her friends were torn apart by my old adversary. Besides there was too much at stake. Not only your lives, but the lives of every pony in Equestria. Had i not acted, and Discord been victorious. Equestria would have descended into never ending chaos, and all that I and Luna had fought so hard for would have been in vain.” Explained Celestia nuzzling Twilight lovingly

“I’m so proud of you Twilight. You and your friends have fought so hard for me and for Equestria. I’m so happy that i can finally call you my daughter again. Welcome home, my dear Princess Twilight Sparkle.” Sobbed Celestia hugging Twilight close, and levitating a silver crown encrusted with purple sapphire out of a box she had brought with her earlier, and placing it just above Twilight’s horn in the same place where her’s lay.

“Oh Twilight, You look so beautiful.” Said Rarity holding up a hand mirror for Twilight to see her refection.
“I, I do look beautiful!” Gasped Twilight as she looked at the refection. Her mane was now like Princess Celestia’s. Flowing as if in a magical wind, translucent lavender, with that pink streak that she was so known for. Stars seem to be shimmering within it.

“So beautiful.” Said Princess Celestia as she brushed her front hoof though Twilight’s hair. Just as she did to Twilight when she was a foal.

Twilight then tried to slowly brush out her wings as to not cause a sudden gust to blow over everything in the hospital room. As they spread out a few loose feathers fell to the ground along with a shimmering silver powder that caused them to shine as if they were made of crystal.

“Magic is as magic does.” Chuckled Celestia as Fluttershy and Rainbow both pulled out one of their feathers to see if they would shine like Twilight’s. “Only the wings of an alicorn shine with magic dust. It’s a tribute to our all-powerful magic, and our everlasting immortal beauty.” Explained Celestia as Fluttershy and Rainbow tucked their wings back in, looking slightly crestfallen.

“Oh don’t you worry my little pegasi. You have your own beauty; all three of the tribes have their own special beauties. It’s just us alicorns embody traits of all three of the races of ponies. We have the magic of the unicorns, the flight of the pegasi, and the strength of the Earth ponies. It’s the magic within the unicorn part of ourselves that allows our wings to sparkle with such beauty. In fact I must say in my six thousand years of being alive I’ve never seen a Pegasus as beautiful as you are Rainbow Dash. “Speaking of all powerful magic.” said Rarity “Let us see just how powerful you magic is now Twilight. “Finished the white unicorn dropping the hand mirror onto Twilight’s bed. A lavender magic suddenly surrounded the hand mirror and put it in the air. Just as soon as it reached the air the glass cracked and shattered.

“What is going on here I wasn’t even trying!” Cried out Twilight brushing the shattered glass off of the blankets.

“ It’s going to be like that for a few days Twilight, you’re going to have to learn to control the massive amounts of energy your magic now contains as an alicorn.” Explained Celestia casting a spell to cause the glass to disappear.
“As you are now part of a race that commands near godlike power, so you must learn to control that power. It is why the job of raising and setting the sun fell to me, and the job of raising and setting the moon fell to Luna. As you know Twilight we are looked upon as goddesses, and now so will you be too. We will have to find a responsibility for you too. A responsibility so great that it will take up most of the magic in your system and you will not have to hold so much during regular everyday activities.” said Celestia looking onto Twilight seriously.

“Are you feeling well enough to walk now?” Asked Celestia holding a hoof out to Twilight.

“Other than the fact that my life has just turned upside down I feel fine.” Said Twilight standing

“Excellent then it’s time that my sister your new aunt is let in on the situation.” Said Celestia wrapping a wing around her daughter and leaving the room followed by the five other ponies and one Dragon.

“We have a Niece!” Boomed Luna the shock causing her to use the Royal Canterlot voice.

“Yes Luna I have a child. Due to events beyond my control she has had to spend the last twenty years in hiding, but now that I’ve captured every member of the Brotherhood of Shadow, it is safe for Twilight Sparkle to come out of hiding. I’m sorry I’ve kept it hidden from you Luna. But it was necessary to keep Twilight Sparkle’s identity a secret.” Explained Celestia placing her horn next to Luna’s and casting a memory transfer spell, so that she could see the first-hand memory of Shadow Storm’s mad attempts to kill his own daughter.

“I’m so sorry that happened to you Celly. It must’ve been horrible to have to send Twilight away and kill the one you loved.” Said Luna sadly hugging her sister.

“It’s in the past now dear sister Twilight Sparkle is back with us, and soon the last member of the Brotherhood of Shadow will die. Just as soon as my servant gets her to crack.” Said Celestia returning the hug as a guard walked up to her.

“Your highness we have news from the dungeons, it is done. Black iris has snapped. She has revealed to us many things. The most important of these things is, yes, besides her older sister who we already have in our custody. She is the last member of the Brotherhood of Shadow. Secondly she revealed to us the location of a Temple just outside Canterlot. It should provide us with much information that she could not on the Brotherhood of Shadow. And last but not least she is requesting for execution, it would seem that the torturer had to resort to rape to get the information out of her and it has broken her body and soul. Now the only words she will say is please let me die.” Said the guard bowing to Celestia.

“You have done a good job. Please let the executioner know that execution will be held in an hour. Also let the public know that the execution is to be public. All the denizens of Canterlot are to gather in the public square and one hour. Gather the other prisoner she will die as well.” Ordered Celestia

“It shall be done Your Highness.” Said the guard bowing before leaving to attend to his duties.

“Hear ye, Hear ye. Her Royal highness Princess Celestia of Equestria. Does hereby decree that all citizens of Canterlot gather in the public square in one hour for the public execution of Black Rose and Black Iris. Attendance is mandatory.” Announced a loudspeaker over the town.

“So it’s finally happened has it?” Said a cloaked pony in the alleyway. It would seem they have finally fallen. It is a sad day indeed, Discord help us.” Said the pony removing his hood to reveal a young colt with lavender skin, and silver eyes. The young colt then turned around and galloped down the alleyway. There were things he had to do.

“Please let me die, please let me die, please let me die.” Could be heard echoing off the walls as Celestia headed down the hallway. She paused at the door, opened it, and walked inside. The smell of blood and urine was strong in this room.

“You will die in an hour; your execution will be public.” Said Celestia coldly. She then turned to the guard "In the meantime see what you can get out of her" said Celestia, turning away and walking of the dungeon.

“Hear ye Hear Ye. All citizens of Canterlot are to report to the town square. The public executions are about to begin!” Called out the town crier as people began to gather in the town square.

Once all the Ponies had gathered in the town square, the executioner brought forth the condemned ponies. Parties were jet black pegasi, one had red hair and blue rose cutie mark. It looked as if no one had touched her, but behind her followed another jet black Pegasus with green hair. Both of her wings were broken, her coat was soaked in blood, and a sun shaped burn was located right above her white Iris cutie mark. It was obvious she had been raped. She was covered in semen, and the look on her face was blank. It looked like she didn’t even have her soul left. That was how blank her eyes looked as she was dragged to the gallows.

Once Black Rose and Black Iris were bought to the trap doors. The executioner wrapped the ropes around their necks, and signaled to Luna and Celestia that they were ready. The two Royal alicorn sisters stood on corresponding balconies. One on the east side and one on the West side. Suddenly Luna spoke out in the Royal Canterlot voice.
“Those who are condemned to die. We will now read from the list of the crimes you have committed against my sister. Treason, conspiring against the throne, threatening the life of the Princess Twilight Sparkle"

Suddenly the crowd began to mumble about themselves. "What did Princess Luna just say, Princess Twilight Sparkle, The princess had a filly." Were among the things that they were saying.

"Silence!" ordered Princess Luna before continuing. "And upon inspection of the Temple of The Brotherhood Of Shadow. Worship of the God of chaos Discord. Does thou have anything to say before sentence is carried out?” Read out Luna before pausing to give the condemned the chance to speak.

“I have nothing to say to you tyrants, long live chaos, long live Discord!” Cried out Black Rose. Black Iris simply shook her head.

“Then we Princess Luna of Equestria hereby decree that on this day thou shall be hung by the neck until dead. Sentence to be carried out immediately by the Royal executioner. Thou may proceed.” Ordered Luna “
At once Your Highness!” Said the executioner pulling the lever to open the gallows door. The sickening crack of two necks breaking was all that could be heard, as the trapdoors opened up and the two mares fell to their deaths. “It is done you highnesses.” Called out the execution to the princesses.

“Excellent, you have done well executioner. Before you all leave I wish to address you all. Twilight Sparkle is my daughter. I am sorry to have kept this from you all these years but it was necessary to ensure the princess's safety. Twilight’s coronation ceremony will be held tomorrow. Everything will be revealed then. Every pony in Equestria is required to attend. It shall be held as Luna raises the moon, and begins the night. I hope to see you all there to celebrate this joyous occasion. Tomorrow finally twenty years of heartbreak will be over. Twilight shall take her place by my and Luna’s side. Tomorrow she will be a princess of Equestria. Ordered Celestia sending Pegasus ponies to disclose the message all around Equestria. That the attendance was required in Canterlot tomorrow. Tomorrow the new princess would be crowned.

“Watch me carefully Twilight Sparkle. Tomorrow we will begin your study of the astral planes, the placement of stars, and the creation of the constellations. If you’re going to take over creating the night sky for me then we need to make sure you get it down with perfect precision. Said Luna glaring at her sister.

They got into an argument earlier. Luna felt that Twilight should be given a couple centuries to learn how to control the magic required creating the night sky, and assuring that every star ended up in the right place. However Celestia did not feel the same way. She thought that with Twilight’s prodigious talents, that she should be able to control the stars, and create the night sky within only a couple weeks of instruction from her and Luna. ‘Two weeks is an absurd amount of time to learn a spell of that level! Thought Luna but Celestia was the older sister she would do what she was told.

As all three of them stepped out onto the balcony. Celestia began to cast the spell to set the sun, and as she did so the sun’s light began to fade beyond the horizon, and the moon’s light began to glow. Luna rose up her horn aglow, and as she did so did the moon. Luna continued to rise. The higher she rose, the higher the moon rose. Once the moon was sufficient height in the sky Luna began to land.

"Now this part you’ll need to pay attention to Twilight Sparkle.” Ordered Luna her horn beginning to glow. “Look up at the night sky my niece.” Ordered Luna pointing up at the night sky. Twilight looked up into the most amazing sight she had ever seen. Constellation were forming, it was as if an artist was painting on an easel. Slowly some of Twilight’s favorite constellations began to appear in the sky. Canis Major and minor were first. Followed by Sagittarius, Scorpio, Capricorn, and the other constellations symbolizing times of the year.

“It’s so beautiful!” Gasped Twilight as she watched her aunt paint the constellations in the sky.

“Indeed it is, and one day it will all be yours.” Said Luna patting Twilight on the head, as she finished her work. “Now let us go inside Twilight Sparkle. I’m certain your mother is waiting for us along with your friends.” Said Luna leading Twilight towards the dining room

“Whoa what a spread!” Exclaimed Rainbow Dash as they entered the dining room and sat down. Princess Celestia sitting at the head of the table, and saving the two adjoining seats for and sister and Twilight Sparkle.
The five ponies had never seen such a wonderful amount of food. Sandwiches of all different types covered the table. Beautifully crafted salads sat in chilled crystal bowls, and any type of flower you could imagine. All sat there waiting for the hungry ponies to consume them.

“My sister and Twilight Sparkle should be along any moment now, and then we can eat, I assume that most of the foods here you have never eaten before?” said the Princess looking to the five ponies. While Spike munched on a huge plate of fire rubies.

“No Princess.” Chimed out four voices. While Rarity simply remained silent until the others had finished the answer.

“I have tried some of these before Princess.” Said Rarity looking at the Princess.

“I’m not surprised that you have Rarity. A pony of your high class and standards would certainly have tried at least a few of these dishes before.” Nodded Celestia smiling at the white unicorn. Suddenly the door opened, and in walked Twilight Sparkle and Princess Luna.

“Sister and Twilight. So good of you to join us.” Said Celestia smiling at the pair as they took their seats next to her.

“Thank you for the food!” Said the five ponies bowing to Princess Celestia.

“Not at all my little ponies. It’s always a treat to have you here. Now then, since dinner is finished I think it’s time for the servants to show you to your sleeping quarters.” Said Princess Celestia standing up and clapping her hooves together.

Suddenly servants appeared everywhere. Five of them bowing to the five ponies, and signaling that they should follow them. While all the other servants cleared the table of the dinner. In a flash the table looked as if it never had been used, and the five guests were off to bed. Leaving Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, and Twilight Sparkle in the dining hall alone.

“Well I think it’s time for me to get ready for my court. I bid you two good night.” Said Princess Luna leaving the dining hall.

“Well perhaps I should show you to your room now Twilight.” said Princess Celestia. Signaling that Twilight should follow, and leaving the dining hall.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

“Princess it’s beautiful, I don’t know what to say.” Said Twilight as the servant opened the door to reveal Twilight’s room. A marvelous four poster bed lay in the center of the room, a solid Oak Dresser lying next to the wall, a beautiful mirror mounted to it. The walls were painted in beautiful lavender giving the owner of the room the feeling that they were floating in a lavender sky. A closet filled with the finest dresses bits could buy, and the marvelous solid oak bookcase.

Twilight felt overwhelmed by it. Only just this morning she was a simple student heading for private lessons from her teacher. Now only a full day later she was a princess. Daughter to that very teacher she was going to see. It was mind-boggling.

“If it’s too much for you to handle right now Twilight. I can set you up one of the guest rooms that is until you’re
ready. “Said Princess Celestia looking at Twilight with concern.

Suddenly Twilight ran into the room in full speed and jumped onto the bed. “Oh thank you so much Princess Celestia!” Squealed Twilight Sparkle curling up on her bed and yawning. This had truly been a stressful day, and Twilight felt quite tired. The Four poster bed was just what she needed. She felt like she could fall asleep immediately.

“Twilight I have a request for you. Could you please stop calling me Princess Celestia? I’d really like it if you’d call me mommy.” Blushed Princess Celestia as she realized she just asked her daughter to call her what a little foal would call their mother. Celestia was shocked as Twilight stood up and came up to her nuzzling her neck.

“I love you mommy.” Said Twilight Sparkle continuing to nuzzle at Celestia’s neck. “I love you too sweetheart, now go to sleep you have a big day tomorrow. It’ll be the biggest day of your life, the day that should have happened so many years ago. The day you become a princess of Equestria.” Said Princess Celestia hugging her daughter and leading her back to bed.

As Twilight wrapped back up in the covers Celestia thought of another idea. “Twilight I’d like to do something if that’s all right with you?” Said Celestia as the lavender alicorn snuggled into the pillow.

“Sure.” Said Twilight causing Celestia to smile brightly.

Celestia approached Twilight bed as she began to sing. Hush now quiet now it’s time to lay your sleepyhead. Hush now quiet now it’s time to go to bed. Drifting off to sleep, leave exciting day behind you.” Celestia wrapped her front hooves around her half-asleep daughter as she continued to sing the lullaby that Fluttershy had taught her.

“Drifting off to sleep, let the joy of dreamland find you.” Celestia continued to sing the lullaby again and again. Rocking Twilight’s body like she used to when she was a baby until she heard Twilight snores, and was certain her daughter had fallen asleep.

“Good night beautiful angel.” Said Celestia, closing the door and beginning her own trip up to her bedroom. “Eternity begins with the first day; I just hope we never have to part again my dearest Twilight Sparkle.” Said Celestia having reached own bedroom. She opened the door, entered the room, and closed the door with a snap.

Twilight's Coronation

Chapter 2
Twilight’s coronation.

“Wake up Twilight .” Said Celestia beginning to shake the lavender alicorn. Stopping only once Twilight had begun to stir.

“All right, I’m getting up. Is it sunrise already?” asked Twilight groggily.

” Indeed it is my dearest daughter, now come. We have much work to do.” Ordered Celestia walking out onto Twilight ’s balcony, and flying over to her’s to begin the sunrise.

“Good morning sister, how are you this morning?” said Luna when she seen her sister walking out. Having already come out to care for her duty of setting the moon.

“It is a wonderful day dearest sister, for now is the day that I can truly feel like I have my daughter back.” said Celestia beginning to raise the Sun.

“Yes, this is a truly joyous occasion dear sister.” said Luna. Lowering herself back onto her balcony as she set the moon. Twilight having come out to watch her aunt put the stars to bed.

“Are you watching me carefully Twilight ?” Said Luna as she cast the spell that would cause the stars to be dark for the day.

“Yes Aunt Luna, I’m watching very closely.” said Twilight watching as each and every star disappeared from the morning sky. It was a sight to behold, and Twilight could scarcely believe that soon enough she would be responsible for performing this task during every sunrise and sunset.

“Well, now that that’s done let’s go get some breakfast shall we?” Asked Celestia heading back into her bedroom.

“So, are you feeling nervous Twilight ? Asked Luna looking over at her niece noticing that she had not touched her breakfast. The lavender alicorn turned to her with a start.

“What! Oh I mean a little. I mean I seriously have no idea what I’m supposed to say. Am I going to have a little help?” Asked the alicorn continuing to fidget with the spoon in her bowl of cereal.

“No, I’m afraid you can’t have any help, but trust me Twilight . We will make sure you properly prepared before sunset. I promise I won’t let you look like a fool in front of our subjects.” Said Celestia coming up behind Twilight and putting Twilight’s crown on her head. The silver tiara looked good on Twilight . The gems matched her hair perfectly, and the silver of the tiara complemented her pale skin.

“You always were meant to wear that crown, I’m ecstatic that it looks so good on you.” cried Celestia bringing Twilight into a tight embrace.

“Indeed it does. I’m so happy that Twilight is taking to being a Princess” said Rarity looking over at the mother and child. A small smile on her face.

” You know what this calls for, a party!” Squealed Pinkie her trademark smile on her face, jumping up and down.

“That’s what a coronation ceremony is Pinkie Pie. It’s to celebrate the crowning of a new Princess, and to wish her good luck as she begins a new chapter in her life.” Explained Celestia, smiling at the Pink earth pony.

“I still can’t believe that Twilight is a Princess, then again it’d explain why she’s such an egghead.” Laughed Rainbow Dash taking a large bite of toast.

“Y’all better be careful now Rainbow. Twilight ’s a Princess now; she could have you banished if she wanted.” Joked Applejack giggling at her own joke. Twilight however, did not look amused.

“You know I’d never do that Applejack you know that! The only pony who has ever been banished from Equestria was Aunt Luna, and you know that my mother had to do that!” Snapped Twilight glaring at Applejack.

“Oh come on sugarcube, it was just a joke. I know you’d never hurt one of us.” Said Applejack. Turning away from Twilight slightly embarrassed.

“I don’t really think Twilight’s in the mood for joking right now. I mean she has to go through the biggest moment of her life in a few hours. That’s got to be scary.” Squeaked Fluttershy looking at Twilight supportively.

“Indeed it is.” Said Celestia knowingly. “Speaking to all Equestria as a whole. All those ponies sitting there, watching you waiting for you to screw up. It can be daunting.” Shuttered Celestia. Remembering her first speech to her subjects.

“But I know Twilight can do it.” Said Celestia smiling and hugging Twilight .

“But what if I can’t do it mother. What if I screw up, what if I fail?” said Twilight beginning to cry, nuzzling her mother’s mane.

“You need to have more faith in yourself. You are only a young mare, and yet you've done things that most would say were impossible for any pony your age. Public speaking, why that’ll be easy for the pony that defeated Nightmare Moon and Discord, You have so much potential Twilight; all that’s left is to have faith in yourself my daughter.” Said Celestia wisely. Stroking Twilight’s wings gently, and holding her close.

“Ya Twi, you’re the smartest pony we know. Surely a little speech in front of thousands of ponies isn’t too much for the smartest and most powerful pony to ever come out of Princess Celestia’s school for gifted unicorns.” Cheered Rainbow Dash flying up and giving Twilight a noggie.

“Ow, knock it off Rainbow!” Ordered Twilight trying to get the rainbow haired Pegasus off of her.

“I don’t think so you big egghead. In fact, I think it’s time for a group hug!” Cried out Rainbow Dash, and as soon as she called that out. The five ponies, two alicorns, and one Dragon surrounded Twilight . Squishing the lavender alicorn into the biggest group hug she had ever had.

“You know, I think this calls for a picture.” said Celestia clapping her hooves together. Suddenly a guard appeared in front of them, holding a camera.

“Say cheese every pony!” Said the guard as he prepared to take the picture.

“Cheese!” cheered the group, and the guard snapped the picture.

“I think that turned out very well.” Said Luna holding the magically developed picture in her hoof, and looking at it.

“You know you guys are my very best friends, right? I’ll never let this change what’s between us.” Said Twilight looking at the five friends surrounding her, and the Dragon who she had raised from a little egg. Who felt like a little brother to her.

“Of course it won’t Twilight!” Said Spike, Hugging his makeshift older sister. “ So you may have to move here to the Palace and rule with Princess Celestia and Luna, but I’m sure what you have with the others will never change.” Finished Spike looking at the others.

“It sure as sugar won’t Twi!” Crowed out Applejack patting Twilight on the shoulder.

“Yeah, Hay if anything this just means I have a new friend to help me practice my moves for the Wonderbolts.” said Rainbow Dash wrapping her wing around Twilight .

“It’ll mean more parties for me to throw.” Squealed out Pinkie Pie “Oh by the way Twilight . Even though you have this coronation thingy, I’m still going to throw you a “Hey our best friend is an alicorn Princess!” party!” Cheered out Pinkie Pie.

“You’ve always helped me to take care of my animal friends Twilight . Even though you’re not going to be able to do that anymore, we’ll still always be friends.” Said Fluttershy also putting her wing around Twilight .

“It’ll be simply marvelous to have a princess as a best friend!” Screamed out Rarity grabbing a hold of Twilight ’s face.

“Oh, it’ll give me a reason to visit Canterlot all the time, and when I tell all the ponies that the princess is my best friend. They’ll have no choice but to invite me to all of the parties, oh all the business it’ll make for Carousel Boutique. All the ponies will want my fashion, when they see you Princess Twilight Sparkle wearing of all of my designs. To the Grand Galloping Gala, to the Royal events, and all of your parties. And then they will know that the most talented pony in the entire fashion world is Rarity the unicorn. Best friend of her Royal highness Princess Twilight Sparkle!” Squealed Rarity going on one of her classic rants, and rubbing her face up against Twilight’s.

“Now Rarity just because I’m a Princess now doesn’t mean that I’ve become your personal dress-up toy, and I certainly don’t want you using our relationship to pressure ponies to invite you to parties.” said Twilight seriously. Pushing Rarity away from her a little bit.

“Oh but Twilight you simply must wear formal attire. I mean you’re a Princess now. You simply must look the part.” Whined Rarity looking at Twilight with a slightly hurt look.

“Yes, I understand that Rarity, but again I say I’m not letting you use me as a dress-up doll. I’m sorry.” Said Twilight hugging Rarity.

“Yes you’re right. I guess I got a little carried away there but Twilight surely you’ll let me make you something for the gala, right?” Asked Rarity bowing in an apologetic manner.

“Oh Rarity, Please don’t bow I’m sorry I made you feel like you needed to apologize to me, and of course you can make something for me to wear to the gala. I mean the last dress you made me kind got destroyed didn’t it?” said Twilight trying to push her friend out of the bowing position.

“Speaking of making dresses.” Said Celestia coming up behind Rarity. “I’d like to commission you to make Twilight’s dress for tonight. You can use whatever materials you need from the Palace, and I’ll have the Royal seamstress help you.” Said Celestia

“Oh of course your highness it’d be my honor to make Twilight ’s coronation dress!” Screamed Rarity bowing over and over again to Celestia.

“Now, now none of that, my dear. You’re one of Twilight s friends, you don’t need to bow to me, and I’ve already seen your amazing work. I think it’d be an insult to your talents. If I did not ask you to do this.” Said Celestia hugging Rarity.

“Now then the guard will lead you to the sewing room. I think you’ll find the materials there to be the best in Equestria.” Finished Celestia letting go of Rarity and signaling the guard to lead Rarity to the sewing room.

Once Rarity and the guard had left Celestia turned to the others. “Now then as for the rest of you I think you should go and take in the sights. Go see all of what Canterlot has to offer until Twilight ’s coronation. It’s my treat.” Said Celestia smiling and tossing a large silk sack of bits to the others.

“Oh wow there’s enough money here to buy anything we could dream of! You’re sure you want us to have all this Princess?” Said Applejack, her jaw hitting the floor when she had opened the sack.

“Of course my dear. You are honored guests of the Palace, and besides that’s a paltry sum compared to what I’d be willing to give you for how many times you saved Equestria and kept my daughter safe.” Said Celestia bowing to the four other bearers of the elements of harmony.

“Aww shucks Princess, we were glad to do it. Twilight’s our friend, we’d never be able to forgive ourselves if we let something happened to Twilight, even before we knew she was your daughter.” said Applejack as they bowed as well.

“Thank you for saying that Applejack. Now then you girls have fun. Eat, drink, be merry, and do whatever you want to do until sunset. Meanwhile I, Twilight, and Luna have much to discuss. Said Celestia waving goodbye to the others and signaling that Twilight and Luna should follow her.

“Now Twilight do you have any idea what you want to say?” Asked Celestia sitting in front of her daughter now that she Luna and Twilight were alone in the throne room.

“No, that’s what I’m so afraid of. I mean what am I supposed to say. I mean, it’ll sound kind of stupid if I’m all like. Oh hi everybody I’m Twilight Sparkle and I’m your princess who disappeared twenty years ago, but I’m back now. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. I mean, I’m all fine and good when talking to a small group, but this is the whole of Equestria here and I’m scared.” Admitted Twilight shaking a little.

“It’s all right hun, I understand what you’re going through, when I and Luna defeated Discord, and became the princesses of Equestria. We had no idea what we were supposed to say either, but we made it through all right. You will too. Perhaps if she’s willing to me and Luna can let you borrow the transcripts of our speeches when we first spoke to Equestria as a whole.” Said Celestia trying to calm Twilight down.

“Yes, that’s a good idea sister.” Said Luna “I’ll be right back.” Finished the midnight blue alicorn, leaving the room

“I’ll go get mine as well, Wait right here Twilight.” Said Celestia also leaving the throne room,
when they returned they were levitating two obviously ancient boxes.

“These are them, the scripts of the first speeches me Luna gave to Equestria. Study them well Twilight , because ready or not you will give your coronation speech tonight. You may use my study as you look them over and write yours. I know you can do this Twilight now go” ordered Celestia

“I won’t let you down mother!” Said Twilight as she left the throne room and headed off towards Celestia study.

“I know you won’t Twilight . I look forward to listening to your speech tonight.” Said Celestia looking at Twilight with a big smile.

Once Twilight had left Luna turned to her sister

“This isn’t just about Twilight’s coronation speech is it?” asked Luna looking at her sister with a worried glance.

“No Luna it’s not. Remember a little while before you left for Ponyville for your first Nightmare night celebration. When Spike called me to Ponyville, saying that Twilight was letting her worries get the better of her?” asked Celestia looking at the door with a troubled glance.”

“We remember sister what happened that day that has you so worried?” asked Luna also looking at the door with a worried stare.

“I never told you this but I had to save Ponyville from falling into complete and utter chaos.” Said Celestia shuddering at the memory of her daughter’s failed use of the want it need it spell.

“What happened?” Asked Luna hugging her sister trying to comfort her.

“Twilight missed a self-imposed deadline on sending me friendship reports, and caused the town to fall into disarray by casting the want it need it spell on an old stuffed toy of her’s. Simply because she was terrified that I would send her back to magic kindergarten for missing a simple deadline on friendship reports that didn’t even exist, so I need to know if she’s still like that, because now that she’s a Princess, if she falls into despair like that again. It could mean the end of Equestria.” Explain Celestia

“But Twilight’s older now. Surely she’s grown out of such childish fear? I mean surely you wouldn’t send her back to magic kindergarten now?” Asked Luna worried for her sister and her niece

“OCD paranoia never goes away Luna; it can get better as you grow older, but it never truly goes away, and if Twilight fails me again. I may have to do just that. I don’t want to, but if it means getting the help Twilight needs then I will send her back to magic kindergarten.” Cried Celestia collapsing onto Luna for support.

“Tia, calm down please. Certainly it won’t get to that point, we can help her, and we can be there for her. As long as we’re there for her, and she knows she’s not alone. I don’t think Twilight will fall into that kind of despair again. She’s strong, just like you are big sis. You’ve always been there for me, now you need to be there for Twilight. Help her through this. Now go on your daughter needs you.” Said Luna staring at her sister through tear soaked eyes.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

“No, no, no!” screamed Twilight as she paced around the study

“I can’t think of a single thing to write, but mother is counting on me and if I fail her. She might not think I’m ready to do this and not let me practice with the spell that allows me to control the stars or worse yet; she might send me back to magic kindergarten!” Finished the freaked out alicorn collapsing on the floor, and putting the hooves on her forehead.

“What will they think of me being a Princess sent back to magic kindergarten?” asked Twilight succumbing to a delusion

“I’m so disappointed in you Twilight Sparkle. I believed in you, I thought you could do it; it looks like I was wrong about you. My daughter. I think it’s time you learn from the beginning. I think it’s time you go back to magic kindergarten.” Said Celestia her voice full of disappointment.“ Ha ha ha ha you’re a Princess and you were sent back to magic kindergarten, boy you must be really stupid or screwed up really bad.” Laughed a white unicorn colt with an ice blue mane.

“The Princess is a loser, the princess is a loser.” Teased the other students, pointing at Twilight and laughing mockingly.

“No, I’m not a loser, I’m not a loser!” cried Twilight collapsing on a naptime mat and breaking down.

Celestia entered the study not expecting what she saw. Twilight was on the floor curled up into a ball, crying.
“I’m not a loser, I’m not a loser. Forgive me mother; give me another chance I’ll try harder. I swear just get me out of here!” cried the delusional Twilight shaking harder than Celestia had ever seen her shake.

“It would seem I have a lot to learn about what happened to Twilight in magic kindergarten.“ Said Celestia coming up to the mentally unstable alicorn and wrapping her forelegs around her

“Twilight, Twilight wake up. I promise I won’t send you back there. Just please wake up.” Screamed Celestia shaking Twilight

“Mother?” mumbled Twilight slowlycoming out of the delusion

“Yes, Twilight it’s me. Come on now, come back to me!” Ordered Celestia hugging Twilight closer to her. “I won’t send you back there, not if it was like that.”

“You won’t send me back, even if I screw up?” asked Twilight slowly coming to her senses

“No, I won’t but I need you to tell me what happened there to make you so afraid of going back?” Asked Celestia standing up, and then helping Twilight up as well.

“Alright I’ll try.” Said Twilight pressing her horn against her mother’s, and using the memory transfer spell.

“I can see how such events can leave those scars on you Twilight, now I know I made the right decision, to pull you out of regular classes, and teach you myself. You never deserved to have that happen to you.” Said Celestia removing her horn from Twilight’s once the memory was finished.

“Yes, you have no idea how happy you made me that day; telling me that magic kindergarten was the only grade level I’d have to go through before you would teach me yourself.” Said Twilight remembering the day Celestia brought her to Canterlot Castle to continue her studies.

“It was the only prudent decision; you had too much talent for that place. You were mastering spells that no ordinary filly could ever dream of, I knew the reason was because you were my own daughter, but I couldn’t let them know that. So I took you out of regular classes, brought you here to Canterlot Castle, and taught you myself. Had I known such events were taking place. I would’ve taught you myself from the beginning, but I wanted you to learn the magic control lessons that they teach you in magic kindergarten. I was afraid if you didn’t learn those basics your magic might overwhelm, and destroy you. Please forgive me for making that mistake.” Said Celestia hugging Twilight .

“It’s alright, I don’t blame you for what happened to me; you did what you thought was best for me. You didn’t know those things would happen to me." Replied Twilight nuzzling Celestia neck.

“Anyways, enough of that. I’m here to help you write your coronation speech. After all, how can you fail with my help?” laughed Celestia levitating the disarrayed quills and scrolls over to the desk.

“But I thought you said I would have to do it on my own?” asked Twilight looking at Celestia confused.

“Indeed I did say that, but then Luna convinced me that maybe I should give you a little bit of help. After all it is your first speech, and I imagine you already have enough on your plate.” Said Celestia casting a spell to clean up the rest of the clutter that Twilight had made in her disillusioned stupor. “Plus I and Luna had each other to help one another; it’s only fair that you have some help as well.”

“Well I really do appreciate it. Thank you mother.” Said Twilight walking over to the desk and levitating the quill into the ink to begin writing.

“Not at all; my precious little filly. You need to know that I’m here for you and I always will be.” Replied Celestia coming up next to Twilight and wrapping her foreleg around Twilight ’s shoulder.

“To Twilight Sparkle the next princes of Equestria, cheers!” Roared out the five ponies tapping their glasses together in a toast to their best friend, and drinking the wine.

Applejack , Pinkie pie, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash were currently doing exactly as Princess Celestia had told them to do. Eating and drinking to their hearts content. The money Princess Celestia had given them wasn’t even dented, as the five ponies enjoyed themselves in one of the finest restaurants in Canterlot; Drinking wine, and eating the finest food they had ever had; short of what Princess Celestia had served them the previous night.

“Man this is the life!” Said Rainbow Dash taking a large bite of the rose petal sandwich that she had ordered. Washing it down with the glass of vineyard Paso Robles; that she had poured herself after their toast to Twilight .

“Ya this is really fun!” Squealed out Pinkie; Chomping on the red velvet cake she had ordered for dessert. Getting frosting all over the place. Her table manners were something that could be worked on noted her friends, as several guests glared at the pink earth pony.

“Pinkie calm down! Look at yourself; you’re acting like a foal!” snapped Applejack glaring at Pinkie with the same look as the other guests.

“Oops ,sorry Applejack. I was having so much fun that I forgot my manners.” Said Pinkie blushing a bit smiling at the other guests; who slowly returned to their meals.

“Well, Yes I can understand that. Just make sure not to act like that at Twilight's coronation ceremony tonight.” Said the orange earth pony; having wiped all the frosting off of herself.

“Speaking of which; Don’t you think we should be headed that way? It’ll be dusk soon, and we don’t want to be late for Twilight’s big night .” Said Fluttershy pulling out a few bits as a tip for the waiter, and standing up

“You’re right AJ, We should get going. You guys go, and I’ll go pay our tab and catch up with you.” Said Rainbow Dash standing and heading over to the cashier to pay their check.

Many ponies of all different walks of life were gathered in the royal court yard. It was time; time for her to go out and face her destiny. For 20 years she had been hidden away but now Twilight Sparkle would take her place alongside her mother, she would become a princess of Equestria.

“It’s time my little filly, are you nervous?” asked Celestia wrapping a wing around Twilight .

“A little, but we worked really hard on this speech. My first speech ever; I’ll make sure it’s one to remember.” Said Twilight sounding braver than she felt.

“Just remember what we talked about and you’ll be fine.” Said Celestia walking out with Twilight onto the balcony, as Luna rose the moon.

Twilight took a few deep breaths before beginning

“Citizens of Equestria. I come here today not as the princesses protégé. But as her daughter, and your new Princess. I know this is new and will take some getting used to on both of our parts, but I believe together we can make this transition work. As you all know by now twenty years ago I was forced into exile by what was known as the brotherhood of shadow. But now that organization is no more, and I am free to come before you a proud Princess of Equestria.

From this day forth I shall be passing laws and running Equestria alongside my mother and Princess Luna. I swear to you on this day that I shall not allow any harm to befall Equestria even if I have to give my own life. This is a beautiful land filled with many different kinds of ponies. Each of them walking their own path. It is such because of the wise and just ruling of my mother and Princess Luna. From the day they defeated Discord; Equestria has been governed by order and kindness, generosity, laughter, honesty, and loyalty.” Twilight nodded to each of her friends, the five ponies who represented these elements.

“ Know that I too will rule in this fashion under the guidance of my mother and aunt.” finished Twilight bowing to the crowd

“All hail Princess Twilight Sparkle, Goddess of the stars!” Called out Celestia putting Twilight ’s on her.

“All hail princess Twilight Sparkle.” Repeated the crowd bowing to the new Princess.

Fireworks lit up the sky as the crowd cheered, and the three Alicorns rose into the sky leaving a trail of magical sparks behind them. While the crowd continued to chant long live Equestria, long live the princesses!

“That was wonderful, Twilight ” said Rarity when Twilight and the other two princesses came into the castle to join the party.

“You sure know how to give a great speech there sugarcube.” Said Applejack her and the others having joined Rarity when they noticed that the princesses had come in.

“You are now officially 20% cooler!” Exclaimed Rainbow Dash landing in front of her friend and punching her in the shoulder.

“Thanks girls. It means a lot to me that you could be here today.” Said Twilight pulling her friends into a group hug.

“We’ll always be there for you Twilight; even if you’re not going to live in Ponyville anymore.” Said Fluttershy nuzzling Twilight ’s neck.

“What do you mean Fluttershy?” asked Twilight confused

“Now, darling. Certainly you didn’t think that you’d be coming back to Ponyville with us. You’re a Princess now you have to stay here in Canterlot and help the princesses rule Equestria. I mean, you said it right in your speech that you would help the princesses rule Equestria together. You can’t do that from Ponyville.” Said Rarity looking at Twilight seriously

“I guess, I guess I just didn’t want to think about it. I mean, why can’t I? Surely my mother or Luna could call for me if I’m needed.” Said Twilight starting to break down.

“We can’t do that Twilight . Your place is here in Canterlot with me and Luna. I know it’s going to be hard, but you have to say goodbye. Your friends can always visit. They know there welcome here, but for you to go back to Ponyville is unacceptable. A princess’s place is in the capital city. The capital is Canterlot. You belonged here with me. I’m your mother Twilight Sparkle and my word is final.” Explained Celestia hugging the now weeping Twilight .

“But it’s not fair. I never asked for this to happen.” Sobbed Twilight looking at her friends for support

“Life isn’t always fair, my child. Sometimes duty requires you to let go of those you love the most. I did it when I banished Luna to the moon to protect Equestria from Nightmare Moon. Now you have to let go of your friends for Equestria. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, my daughter. You’ll understand someday.” Said Celestia wisely

“This is for the best of Equestria.” Said Applejack through her tears. The orange earth pony was crying. As were the others, but they knew it was for the best. It was just Applejack was the one that was saying it. It had always been Applejack was the one to say the hardest things. Being the element of honesty; She was never the kind of hold back when it came to saying what needed to be said.

“We’ll just make this the most awesome party you’ve ever been to, and when it’s time for us to go we’ll do it with a smile!” Bawled Pinkie crying harder than she had when Luna had first returned.

“Thank you my little ponies. I couldn’t have said it better myself. You need to enjoy what little time we have left together.” Said Princess Celestia before a servant interrupted her.

“Your Majesty; you need to come quickly, Crystal Orb is going into a vision!” screamed the servant ushering Princess Celestia and the group up the stairs and into a room.

“Crystal orb, Crystal orb. It’s me Princess Celestia, what do you see!” Demanded Celestia shaking a purple unicorn with a shawl wrapped around her neck, and an eye for a cutie mark. She opened her mouth and spoke in a voice that could chill blood, her eyes completely blank.

“The sixth month will rapidly approach
He who brought chaos will return
The three rulers will fail to stop him
The street will flow of blood
And Equestria will learn of true pain
His revenge will be cruel
Mercy is not of his creed
This shall be passed of the sixth month’s dawn.
Bring the five of harmony
Ally them with the true ruler
She whose magic knows no bounds
Only then may this prophecy not come to pass
But be warned they must be truly binded, heart and soul
Lest they fall to chaos
Should they fail, Equestria’s end shall be nigh”

Her eyes then cleared and she collapsed on the floor.

“What does this mean; sister does this mean that he could return?” asked Luna complete terror in her voice

“Yes Luna that is exactly what it means. Discord. Discord shall return.” Said Celestia fear in her every word.

Well there we go. Chapter 2 of within the shadows. I know Twilight ’s coronation speech wasn’t anything amazing but I wrote what I came up with, also I know they may have been a little out of character in the goodbye scene, but it’s not quite over yet I’ll go over it more in the next chapter and try to keep them more character I didn’t do so this time but anyways, I hope you enjoyed it and creative criticism is always welcomed. Just don’t be a jerk about it. You do need to realize that this is my story and I’m working with what ideas come into my mind. If they’re not good ideas then I’m willing to change them, but only if I feel like it. I want to get as many people reading this is possible. After all that’s the point of writing for people to be able to see your work and improve it. If they can.

Chapter 3

Six months to rule, the unforgiving sands of time.

The two sisters stood next to each other; holding on to each other for support. Their faces were blank, and their eyes were empty, If Twilight and the others didn’t know that Alicorns were immortal beings; they would have thought that Celestia and Luna had died of shock.

“Sister, could this be true?” Asked Luna finally snapping out of her stupor.

“I’m afraid so; After all Discord broke out before. So it wouldn’t be inconceivable. Answered Celestia following suit. “And this time, now that he knows just how powerful friendship is. I doubt he’ll be kidding around again.

“Whoa nelly, you mean he was just joshing with us when we faced him? Asked Applejack remembering the problems they had in their own encounter with the god of chaos.

“Did you seriously think otherwise Applejack?” Snapped Celestia rounding on the orange earth pony. “You girls didn’t even see a percentage of his true power! We’re dealing with an egotistical and all powerful deity of chaos here! Do you really believe he thought it would take any of his power to defeat six young mares? No, he truly believed his to be the most powerful force in existence. After all, what rules could limit your magic, when your magic defies every rule of reality there is?” explained Celestia the memories of her and Luna’s first encounter with the embodiment of chaos at the forefront of her mind.

“Why hello there, dear Celestia. Tell me did you come here to join me for a cup of tea?” laughed discord conjuring a cup of tea and splashing the liquid in the white Alicorn’s face. “Oh come now, you simply must learn to take a joke.” Laughed the draconequus as Celestia wiped the tea from her face scowling.

“You’ve had your fun discord, but it ends here! Did you seriously think that me and Luna would allow you to do this to Equestria! Our parents spent far too long bringing order to this land for us to let you have your way with it!” snapped Celestia rearing back, and slamming her front hooves on the checkered ground.

“But that’s just it. Celestia. You can do nothing to stop me, or did you forget. I’m the God of Chaos. As long as order exists, so too will chaos in one way or another. So basically I’m invincible; Yin and Yang. It’s impossible to destroy the darkness without destroying the light, but of course you won’t believe me.” Said discord, rising from his throne, and into the air. “So let me teach you a lesson in pain!” Roared the draconequus.

Suddenly a ring of purple fire appeared around the two Alicorns, as the embodiment of chaos dove down upon them. Celestia quickly tried to dispel the flames with a water spell but they would not extinguish; however, this was overlooked by the midnight blue Alicorn as the draconequus’s dragon clawed foot tore into her flesh drawing blood while the horse leg slammed into her side sending her flying into the flames.

“Luna!” screamed Celestia as she watched her sister’s body devoured by the purple flames

“I wonder how long she can survive?” laughed discord

“You’ll never find the answer to that one!” Roared Luna as she plunged her horn into discord’s thigh having teleported at the last second.

“Clever trick girl. Care to see one of mine?” snapped Discord teleporting away from Luna. Suddenly, cream pies began to rain from the sky but they were not as harmless as you would think each of the cream pies exploded when they hit the ground sending the sisters running for cover.

“Run little ponies run.” Laughed discord continuing to send the cream pies down upon them. He then started singing in a mocking tone similar to pop goes the weasel

“Around, around the checkered Meadow, The goddesses run from discord, should they trip they’ll be in great pain, boom go the ponies.” The draconequus continued to laugh and laugh as he watched their futile attempts to escape his exploding confections, and still stay inside the ring of enchanted fire “Oh this is just too rich. It just has to be fattening I wonder just how much longer you can keep this up. After all I can do this all day, but can you keep running? Guess we’ll find out soon enough.” Discord laughed doubling the amount of pies raining down on Celestia and Luna.

“He’s right sister; we can’t keep running forever.” Said Luna the exhaustion clear in her voice. Unfortunately for her that broke the concentration just enough that she wasn’t able to dodge the pie that hit the ground closest to her.

“No, Luna!” Screamed Celestia

“Sister, help me!” called out Luna “I, I don’t want to die!” Sobbed the midnight blue Alicorn in unimaginable pain. The blast had managed to rip the flesh from her leg, and it was bleeding profusely. The only thing that was keeping her from being blown to pieces was that her body instinctively cast a shield spell and it was deflecting the pies away from her body.

“Hold on Luna, stay with me, don’t you die on me!” Ordered Celestia rushing over to her sister noticing that the Shield spell was weakening the further and further Luna fell to consciousness.

“This is it, say goodbye to your baby sister!” Roared Discord as he stopped the pies, and focused his magic into a big enough blast to obliterate Luna.

“Luna hold on please!” ordered Celestia as she reached her sister’s side and put her horn to her’s teleporting the two away.

“Aww man, they ruined my fun.” Said discord levitating Luna’s blood into a wine glass, and drinking it.

The sounds of Luna’s screams echoed through the hallway. The doctors were working as hard as they could to wrap the gauze around the thrashing Alicorn’s leg. “Where is Tia, I want my big sister, give me my big sister!” screamed Luna completely out of it in pain.

“I’m right here Lulu. Please try to hold still. Let the doctors help you.” Cried Celestia turning away why am I so weak, if mother or father were here, they could heal Luna’s leg in a second, but no; all she has left is me, and I haven’t mastered healing magic yet. I’m so useless! Celestia mentally berated herself.

It’s only been fifty years since they died and already my foalishness has already almost gotten Luna killed. Thought Celestia “I’ll get revenge for you Luna, I swear it.”

“What happened Mother, What did you do next?” Asked Twilight noticing the serious looks on both Celestia and Luna’s faces.

“I confronted Discord on my own.” Answered Celestia resuming the spell

“DISCORD!” Roared Celestia with all the power of the royal Canterlot voice and all the power in her wings she rushed the embodiment of chaos. He simply laughed.

“YOU HURT LUNA; YOU THREATEN MY PONIES, AND THE VERY WORLD I CREATED. I SWEAR ON MY MOTHER’S GRAVE I’LL DEFEAT YOU HERE AND NOW.”

“You and your sister together couldn’t even touch me, and yet you have the audacity to attack me alone. Well so be it, if you wish to die so badly I’ll gladly be your guide. “Cackled Discord

I swear Luna I’ll make this beast pay for what he’s done to you. Celestia couldn’t get the image of Luna flailing in pain out of her mind. Mother please forgive me, I am going to use that technique you taught me. Please protect me. Prayed Celestia as she charged her horn for the controller of the suns most powerful spell, and flashed back to the day her Mother had taught her the spell.

“You’ve done so well Celestia. I’m proud of you.” Said Solar Star nuzzling her daughter.

“Thank you so much for teaching me your spell mommy. Does this mean I’m just like you now, and my mane will do the pretty solar wind thing too?" Asked Celestia trying to see if her pink mane had changed into the form that her mother’s took. Solar Star picked Celestia up in her golden aura and put her on her back for the trip back to the castle.

“Not yet hun, once you take my place as Goddess of the sun you will though, and I know you’ll do a wonderful job Celestia.” Sniffed Solar Star looking up at the sky.

“Mommy, are you crying?” Asked Celestia snuggling into her mother coat. “What’s wrong I don’t want you to cry mommy. You know it makes me feel sad.”

“Don’t worry my little sunshine; Mommy’s crying happy tears. I’m just so happy to see you doing so well, but at the same time I’m sad to see you growing up. One day you’ll take my place, and you won’t need me anymore.”

Celestia hugged her Mother tightly, and kissed her Mother’s wings.

“I’ll still always be your daughter though, and I’ll always love you.

Celestia looked at sky, and remembered something that she has wanted to ask her Mother for a long time.

“Mommy, you’ll always be here for me right. You won’t ever leave me, Will you?

“I’ll try my best, Remember while we Alicorns are immune to the passing of time once we reach adulthood we can still be killed in battle.” Explained Solar Star.

“But mommy, you and daddy are strong. There’s no one who could beat you, and even if there was Lulu and I wouldn’t let them take you.” Cried Celestia clinging to her Mother.

“Of course you and your sister would never allow any harm to befall us, but sometime there are things you cannot control. Besides your Father and I would never allow you or Luna to be harmed in our stead. Now we have reached the castle, so go on now. Off to bed hun, I’ll see you in the morning.” Said Solar Star nuzzling her daughter and sending her to bed.

It’s time for you to see just how much your sunshine has grown up; this is for mother. “DO YOU HEAR ME YOU MONSTER. [/b]YOUR DEMISE IS NEIGH!” Roared Celestia her horn beginning to glow all the colors of the sun.

“Let us see it then. Let us see the power you think will be enough to finish me!” Snapped Discord charging a spell of his own, and unleashing it in a blast of black aura. Celestia unleashed her spell as well in a beam of hues of red orange and gold. The two spells met and the very world shook. Volcanos erupted, lighting exploded from the sky, and the ground below them burst into a sea of fire scorching the ground to its core.

“Very nice Celestia, I didn’t think you had this kind of power in you, not even your Mother put up this kind of a fight.” Taunted Discord as Celestia’s spell grew even closer to overwhelming his and ending the God of Chaos’s existence.

“DON’T YOU DARE SPEAK OF MY MOTHER YOU MURDERER!” Roared Celestia tears of rage pouring from her eyes.

“Awww does it still hurt Celestia. Knowing I took your mother and from away from you, and your sister.” Cackled Discord. “No no wait I know. Mommy, Mommy please don’t die! We can’t lose you yet!” Mocked Discord cackling. Repeating the words Celestia had cried as her mother had breath her last in her arms.

“I HATE YOU!” Screamed Celestia as she dispelled her attack and charge at Discord with everything she had. It was a mistake.

Celestia dodged Discord’s spell, but was unable to dodge the claws heading right for her stomach. Discord thrust his claw though her flash and as the blood poured from her wound, Celestia was able to make out one thing before she blacked out.

“Say Hello to Solar Star and Midnight Dusk for me, you’ll never be a thorn in my side ever again, and without you I shall burn Equestria to the ground.” Discord then threw Celestia’s half lifeless corpse into the fire.

Chapter 1

A weakened heart, through so many tears.

Celestia woke with a start; the dream had been so vivid. “I haven’t had a dream like that in years. Could it mean the time is coming? It makes sense I guess, I mean I have his last two servants locked up in my dungeon awaiting execution. I wonder if I should go through with it though, part of me wants to see them hang for what they did but the other part of me tells me that it’s wrong. I mean is it right to execute two young girls who can’t be much older than twilight. I’ll think it over during the day. Please mother, please father let me make the right decision.” Said Celestia getting out of bed and heading towards the grand balcony, no matter how she felt on the inside. She still had a job to do. She had done it for over five thousand years, ever since her parents had died in the battle against the windigoes. The sun was calling out to her as she walked out onto the balcony and was greeted by her younger sister Luna.

“Is there something on your mind Tia? I heard you mumbling to yourself in your bedroom. Please tell your little sister, what’s wrong?” said Luna as she bowed her head setting the moon, making way for the day. The day that would change so many lives.

“Please wait until our duties are finished Luna, and then I’ll show you what’s bothering me.” Answered Celestia curtly. She looked out over the plains of Equestria. The land that she and Luna’s parents founded so many millennia ago. Such a beautiful land. I’ve raised the sun for over five millennia, but if I’m right and the plan comes to fruition. I wonder just how many more sunrises Equestria might have left. Thought Celestia as she focused her magic and rose into the air to begin the sunrise.

“Now, Tia you promised me you’d show me what was wrong, once we took care of the sky. Now you’re going to keep your word.” Demanded Luna as soon as they met in the grand hallway that connected their bedrooms.

“I never said I’d go back on my word. Now close your eyes.” Ordered Celestia placing her horn to Luna’s

Celestia sat at her throne as she held court; the couple that had entered the throne room had asked that she bless their marriage and their newborn child. It was just another one of the tedious duties of a Princess. Hold court, listen to the problems of the ponies, Bless marriages, Bless newborns, and plan anything else that governing the land of Equestria required. However, there was something different about this couple. Sure Celestia had seen many, many couples since she took the throne, but this was the first one she had seen since she had married him. Perhaps it was because of the true love she saw in their eyes, and the love they had for their foal. Celestia’s mind began to wander as she spoke the words that she had so many times before. So many times in fact that they simply went spoken without much mental thought. I wonder if shadow storm would agree to mate with me. Seeing this couple today has made me think about it. He won’t be around forever, but if we were to have a foal of our own, the child would be an Alicorn meaning they would never die. I would be able to remember him long after time has taken his body completely from this world. Her thoughts were cut short though as a stick of incense was waved in front of her face.

“Your Majesty, you need to light the incense to complete the ritual.” Said one of the guards bringing Celestia back to reality.

“Oh yes you’re right. My apologies.” Said Celestia quickly trying to cover her embarrassment at being caught daydreaming. She quickly lit the incense and finished the ritual. “And with this incense we pray to the spirits to guide this union and keep it safe. All of their days until death come to claim them. May their foal grow strong and not succumb to sickness, I Celestia Princess of this land of Equestria give the blessings of the sun onto this family. May they never drift apart. “ And with those last words the sun began to shine through the stained-glass windows of the throne room and bathed the family in multicolored sunlight.

“The ritual is complete, is there anything else I can help you with?” asked Celestia looking down at the family and awaiting their response.

“No there is nothing else; thank you so much, your Majesty.” Said the stallion bowing before they left.

“Your Majesty, is there anything troubling you?” asked the guard; turning to the Princess with a concerned look on his face.

“It is nothing of any importance; you are dismissed for the day. I’ll be heading back to my chambers to rest and prepare for the night. Is there anything else that needs to be taken care of?” asked Celestia turning to the guard with a bemused look on her face

“No, your Majesty. The blessing of that couple was the last matter for the court for today. Would you like anything brought up to your room before you slumber my Princess? I’m certain that the kitchen to have no problems making it for you.” Replied the guard with a swift bow.

“If you could bring up a glass of red wine that would be lovely.” Said Celestia, leaving the throne room and returning to her thoughts.

Sometimes I wonder why I gave in to him. In the end it’ll be nothing but pain, marrying a mortal. Just what was I thinking. Thought Celestia before falling into a flashback

Celestia began to cry as she sat in the park looking up at the moon that was never as bright as her sister’s “Luna, my dear sweet Luna. Why, why did you succumb to darkness? Why did you make me banish you? I miss you so much little sister!” sobbed Celestia pounding into the ground causing fissures to form around her. “I’ve been alone for so long, while you’ve been asleep. Nine hundred years. Nine hundred years of regret, Nine hundred years of loneliness, Nine hundred years of no one to love. Sometimes I think it’d just be easier to take my own life, then I think of Equestria. “You have a lot of gall to approach your princess like this, can you not see that this is a private moment for me?” snapped Celestia clearly furious that she had been overheard in a moment of weakness.

“My apologies your highness, but everyone in Canterlot can hear you I imagine. You are quite loud.” Said the stallion rising from his bow.

“You are either very brave or very stupid to speak to me like that you foal; give me one reason why i shouldn’t call for the guards to have you put in prison?” Growled Celestia

No one has dared to speak to me like that in nine hundred years, I wonder just who this pony is and why he’s brash enough to approach me like this. Thought Celestia as she waited for the answer.

“Because I can give you what you desire. Surely you have seen how your subjects fear you, even though you are benevolent ruler. They know that you could snuff out their lives if you desire it. Who would dare to approach you with an offer of love, of acceptance, to be affectionate with you as you need without being ordered to. I have no such qualms. I have nothing to lose, so I am not afraid of you. I’ve watched you from afar for years for the right chance to approach you, to speak with you, and now the time is come. I can tell you that I have feelings for you Princess Celestia, and were you to accept me as your mate I will make the loneliness disappear for as long as I can.” Explained the Stallion approaching Celestia and bowing again.

“How do I know I can trust you? You could be trying to usurp the throne. I don’t even know your name, and yet you come here, and expect me to believe your confessions of love for me. I am not so easily fooled. How can you prove your love for me?” Questioned Celestia doubt etched on every part of her face.

“Give me the chance to prove myself. I do love you Celestia, abide in me and I vow to you, I will never forsake you. As for my name, it is Shadow Storm.” Replied Shadow Storm looking into Celestia’s eyes.

He is persistent; perhaps I should give him the chance he is asking for. I have much to lose, but much to gain as well. He has made an excellent point, if he can take away the loneliness for a few decades he may keep me sane long enough for Luna to return. Then when he dies I still won’t be alone.

“Fine then; I will give you a chance. We will go through a courting period, and then if you prove sufficiently enough that you love me, I will take your hand in marriage.” Said Celestia allowing shadow storm to stand and leading him back to the Castle.

“Thank You, Shadow.” Replied Celestia as she kissed Shadow deeply as she began to stroke her hoofs though Shadow’s mane.

“Celestia, you are truly beautiful, let me being you to the edge of bliss, as you do the same for me my love.” Said Shadow as he kissed Celestia’s chest progressively getting lower as he headed toward Celestia’s wet sex.
