Out side the ship the earth slowly drifted through space, as the ship cleared the Earths gravity Earth began a desperate battle against a new opponent. For 100 years humanity shared one goal and one only, the very survival of the human race. Many were still on the planet as the ship left, the ones who sacrificed them selves for humanities survival... only if that were true.
Now in view was a Neutron Star that threaten humanity for the past 100 years, slowly making its collision coarse with the planet they used to call home. As the rouge star approached its strong gravitational field started to pull at the Earth, entire cities if not the entire surface began to fall apart sucked into space by the stronger gravitational pull. The passengers/soldiers/crew watched helplessly as their home was destroyed.
In only a few minutes the planet was ripped apart, derbies floating through space as the gravitational pull well... pulled them to the star. If you looked closely you would have been able to see the bodies of those who where unlucky to be left behind. May they all rest in Heaven as Hell has come to torture those who survived. The one lucky enough to leave and run from their doom. You may ask, why would the survivors go though Hell? It is simple, the emotion, the depression and sadness is what will torture them. Having to leave friends and family behind for the greater good.
Yes, there were those who tried to stop humanities survival, but never succeeded. Humanity for those 100 years waged War on each other as the ship was being constructed. The three major factions in this War were America, China, and Russia but they didn't fight the war with each other. No, they protected them selves against other countries trying to stop them from making the ship. Even Great Britain turned on its ally America, tried to nuke them twice each attempt failing.
Near the end of the war, they turned into one faction known as The Last Human Empire a Military Dictated rule but unlike those governments like this in the past civilians had rights still. That is if you can even call them civilians anymore. This disaster has turned humanity into what their souls are now, a soldier... Soldiers of God as some call themselves finaly bringing peace to their chaotic race. Soon, every new or young human under the age of 30 will become a trained killer. A Military Empire built on humanities last legs.
Now began human kinds long journey, to Humanities Final Hope.
