A Rather Painful, But Happy Day
The moment I open the door I am welcomed by the usual low seemingly dark note emanating from either my Mother or Father, most likely the latter as I recognize his note being darker. I am attempting to walk in quietly to not alert my father as i know what pain i will have to endure in an encounter with him. The aroma of Whiskey and Smoke fills my nose, it is a revolting scent. I accidentally push the door too hard and it hits the wall with a bang before i can catch it, I hear my father stomping over to me.
"Well look what we have here, thirty minutes late,Now what the hell took you so long, you better answer me!" he yells
"um, its just that, uh, I had to stay back and work in a class I was failing." I say in a whimper
"oh, so you didn't learn your lesson for last time you failed a class, i'll have to teach you again!" with those words I am struck beside the head with a hard hoof, it knocked me to the ground as I try not to cry in pain, and then its and assault, hoof after hoof aimed mostly to my head, I am crying in pain and agony, and with each hit his note gets darker and darker, as I cry I am hoping he will see my pain and stop, but it doesn't, then I finally catch a hoof and then the other, by luck though, he shoves me off then hits me with one more hard hit to the head which I then hit the ground in a haze.
I slowly awake to find that, luckily, I am still in my house not left outside like last time. As I get up I hear The Same Droning of the low dark note as before. I quickly get up and leave without a sound. I simply fly down to the streets of Canterlot to take a walk, that usually eased my pain.
As I am walking around a grey filly, about my age, comes up to me and asks "why do you have bruises on your face?" I didn't even think of the probability of bruises.
"well, um, I um did something bad, and was punished." I Respond.
"seems like an insane punishment." She answers.
I just stood there for a moment then burst out into tears and hit the ground. she gets down pulls me into a caring hug, I think she saw through my lie she knows where these bruises came from. Her note was a beautiful happy tune and it seemed so familiar she, herself, also seemed familiar, Soon I stopped sobbing and got up "whats your name?" she asks.
"Shadow, whats yours?" I also ask.
"Octavia." she responds.
"Well Octavia," I say. Still listening to her note, actually its more of a happy joyful tune than A note but still the happiest one I've heard in my life "You are Music To My Ears."
We share a smile. This is the first time I've been happy in A while.
