Tale of Wicca Chapter 1: Prologue
"EH! EH! EH! EH! EH!" The alarm clock rung, as it did every morning of every day. The dark grey hand sprung from the cocoon of covers and smashed the obnoxious electric alarm clock. A deep groan came from the cocoon as the dark grey head came out the top. His long, bed-matted hair covered the majority of his face. He threw the covers off and grabbed his phone. The phone read "5:15.AM"
"Great.." The deep voice croaked as he brushed back his greasy hair. His red eyes were winced and glowed with displeasure as he trudged his way to the bathroom.
This was his ritual. Every morning of every day; he would wake up, shower, get dressed, have a small, unhealthy breakfast, brush his teeth, tie up his hair, get in his car, and drive to the job that he despised more than anything: at Canterlot High.
The car pulled up in the faculty parking lot and he stepped out of his car, being sure to lock it after stepping out of it. The tall teacher wore a brown blazer with a red sweater underneath. Underneath the sweater, he wore a white button down shirt with a purple tie hanging over the sweater. He wore tan pants and black dress shoes. His long, black hair was pent up in a ponytail.
He walked to the front entrance, well, not much remained of the entrance, it was still under repairs. He arrived to the school a bit late, and missed the whole "other worldly" experience. Lucky him. He walked past several students, as they learned not to wave, greet him, or even acknowledged his existence outside of class, for they wold be met with his cold shoulder. He rounded a few corners, walked down some hallways, and made it to his classroom, where he taught.
The nameplate next to the door read "Room: 120. Earth Science. Mr.Sombra"
Mr. Sombra grumbled as he took out his keys and unlocked his door. There was about 20 minuets until first period starts, and Mr. Sombra had a few E-mails he had to send. He flicked the light switch, but to his surprise, the lights didn't turn on. Standing there in disbelief, he flicked it off, then flicked it on again, that normally works, right? No luck.
Sombra grumbled something far too inappropriate for a foal friendly story, and walked into his room, closing the door behind him. He took a few steps into the dark room before banging his leg into the edge of one of the several desks that filled the room. He grunted and took a step back, rubbing the sore wound for a few seconds before standing up straight again. He scanned the dark room with his red eyes for a few moments; allowing his eyes to adjust. Once this process was complete, Sombra walked over to the corner where his desk resided. He sat in his chair with a small grunt and looked to his computer screen.
Sombra's eyes widened as he saw something sitting on his keyboard. It looked to be a rolled up paper, or something long with paper rolled around it. He carefully picked it up and looked at it. It was heavy, about 10 lbs. A rubber band held the paper shut around the gift. He pulled the rubber band off and tilted the paper, allowing a long, black crystal to fall into the palm of his hand. The crystal shined beautifully, even in the darkness of his classroom, somehow. Sombra's pupils dilated a little bit as he marveled at the crystal. The base was flat, and the crystal had been cut, polished, and handled like a diamond. He set it down carefully next to his laptop and examined the paper.
The paper had writing on it, but his eyes couldn't make out the text. He looked up at his desktop screen and turned it on; giving him light.
"Eesh.." Sombra exclaimed as he looked at the poorly written letter. The person who wrote this must have been heavily dyslexic, or from some undiscovered country, because none of the letters matched the English vocabulary. He looked at it and nodded to himself. All the letters looked like English letters, but either half complete, or slightly off. It must have been some sort of code.
"Is coding a new trend? Freaking kids.." Sombra grumbles, rolling his eyes at youth in general.
He batted his hand and set the paper down. This had to be the work of some elaborate prankster, but the crystal. It had to be worth quite a few hundred dollars, who'd shell out all that money for a prank? Sombra picked it up again and looked at it.
"Ugh, Sombra and the mystery of the---I don't know, some joke about Indiana Jones " he grumbled, getting up from his chair and rubbing his eyes. He never cared for movies, but he understood the title enough to attempt humor. He carefully stepped around his desk and walked out of his class room.
Sombra has been a teacher for decades, and it's not that he was bad at it, in fact, he was incredibly talented at it. It's just that he hates people with a burning passion. They always try and waste his time with a meaningless ritual, or try and share opinions. Nobody had anything to say that would enrich his life in any way, just make it more miserable.
He much preferred his old job at the Crystal school district, much better funding and better people in general. If it wasn't for that one lab experiment, he would still be there. It wasn't even really his fault, some idiot kid cut himself badly on a mineral he was passing around, and got a bacterial infection. The kid sued and Sombra got fired. Thank goodness that Canterlot High was so close, he didn't even have to move homes.
Sombra had made it to the faculty lounge and poured himself a cup of coffee. He always had his coffee black; the bitterness was what he loved most. He walked back to his classroom, and to his surprise, the lights were on!
This only made Sombra shrug, it took a lot to make him happy, or even thankful for a gift. He walked back to his desk. Maybe getting a look at the letter and crystal in light will m---It's gone! Sombra's eyes widened as he scrambled to his desk and shoved his chair out of the way. He looked over, under, behind, and above his desk, but they were gone! The letter and crystal! Did Sombra imagine the whole thing?
"That's idiotic! Why do you think people always go for the 'I must have imagined it' scenario, when it was CLEARLY real?!" Sombra shouted upwards, taking his aggression out on the narrator.
The first bell rang; informing students that they should get to first period.
Sombra cusses and sits in his seat, brushing off the crystal thing, and preparing himself for the day full of human stupidity.
~~~~~~
7th period ends and Sombra gave a sigh of relief. The day had slowly worn Sombra down. His throat ached, he yell'd at about 45 students for their stupidity. Only half of them cried, it was a bad day for him, he aims for 75-80%
Sombra was cleaning up the 'glow in the dark' minerals; that had been on display for the students, but as he crouched down to pick up one a student knocked over, something caught his eye. A student drew a picture of the black crystal! Right there on the white wall next to the desk! This was perfect for him! All he had to do was look up the student chart and he could just see who sits in that seat, boom! Done and done. He spat on it and grabbed a piece of paper from the ground. Sombra was about to wipe it off using the paper, but then something on the paper caught his eye.
"Another clue" Sombra grumbled sarcastically as he looked at the paper, turning and letting his back hit the wall, and slumped down to the floor. He looked at the paper. On the paper is a picture of---a paper with words on it. Next to the paper was an arrow pointing too---a paper.. On the paper was a key.
"A Key? Really? What? How am I su--" Sombra stopped as he had a thought "--hold on.." he grunts as he takes his key-ring from his pocket. Two keys hung off the inappropriately large ring; his desk key and his car keys. "Hmpf.." Sombra huffs as he gets up and walks over to his desk. He unlocks the top drawer to his desk and rolls it out. Inside the drawer was a piece of paper.
The paper read "The statue in front of the school, wana know about the crystal? Show up at 2:30." he raised an eyebrow to this, not amused, however, he did like that crystal...
~~~~
Sombra stood in front of the statue, feeling like in idiot as students gave him looks. He glared back at them. Most of them just walked off, some ran off laughing or giggling. He looked at his watch.
"2:50---Late, that's it, i'm out of here" he grumbled, putting his hand back in his pocket and getting off the statue. Just as he did so, a large shadow covered the school-grounds.
Sombra looked up, confused, as the moon had shown up, very very early. It was so early, in fact, the sun was still up. The moon moved over the sun; creating an eclipse. He instantly looked away. Sure, it might have been a pretty sight, but a pretty sight isn't worth destroyed retinas.
As some students gasped, Sombra rolled his eyes, looking ahead at the school enterance. He was a bit surprised by what he saw.
At the front entrance, Principal Celestia and vice principal Luna were looking at the eclipse themselves, however, this isn't what surprised him. What surprised him was a student, wearing a black P-coat, jeans, and a grey hoodie with the hood pulled up, shoved past the two, holding a satchel in his hands. He jumped past the two, causing Celestia to fall to the side, and Luna to fall down the stairs, and kept running after he stuck the landing. He couldn't see the students face, since the hood was up, but he did notice the student dash towards towards him.
Seeing the two big ones get hurt was funny as heck, but he didn't want to be next. Despite Sombra's petty sidestep, the kid tackled Sombra and Sombra went---through the statue with him.
He felt his body get tugged and pulled as the most nauseating, annoying, irritating sight surround him. Next thing he noticed, he was thrown from a mirror, and hit a hard, marble floor. He groaned and rubbed his head. Did he get covered in slime or something? His hands we-OH MY FAUST, WHERE'D HIS HANDS GO?!
He gasped as he got up on his back two--something, and looked at his hands.
"W-What? WHAT?!" he shouts as he looks at a set of grey hooves. He looks down at his body, which was the body of a dark grey stallion. "WHAT!?!" He shouts again, too confused to construct a sentence. He couldn't hold his balance anymore and got on all fours. "Awww c'mon! That's the floor!" he shouted to himself, unhappy with having to put his 'hands' on the floor to walk. He glanced back and saw the mirror he came through.
He trotted over to it and looked at his reflection, horrified at what he see's
"W-WHAT?!" is all he could manage to say
"What's coming out of my head!?" he raises a hoof and touches his curved, grey horn. "That a--tumor?" he asked himself, poking it again. He continued to look at his reflection and honed in on his black and snout hair "I really need to shave..What's with my teeth?" he opens his mouth, looking at the prominent K-9's. His eyes were drawn from his own reflection to an orange reflection behind him. He quickly turned.
Behind him stood a much smaller pony, an orange unicorn to be exact. The orange unicorn had a nice looking coat, must have been well groomed or something.. He was rather scrawny and weak looking. On his head sat a long, styled brown mane. He had 2 very dull emerald eyes with black, shininess pits for pupils. Even Sombra winced when he saw the eyes. A curved, orange horn protruded the bangs of his mane, and a sinister smile formed on his snout. He had a tan satchel around his waist.
here he was, the pony who shoved Celestia and Luna to the ground, tormented Sombra all day, and tackled him through a portal into another dimension. Who knows what else this pony has done, now was the time for answers, NOW was the time to shout, demand, and hit the pony, however, all Sombra could mutter was
"What"
