Moon Joltby Mat the BrawlerChaptersA Morning AloneThe ArrivalPerksA Morning AloneA Morning Alone: The big city. It was almost too good to be true. Not only was I in the city of my dreams, but I was also with the girl of my dreams. Well, I soon would be again. Being an Alicorn, and a princess, Moon wouldn’t be here till later. We were moving together into a small apartment. I’d been dating the purple mare for a while, and was ecstatic to be taking the next step and moving into an apartment with her. She’d still be doing her royal duties but she managed to figure a way for us to still be together in Manehatten. I call our place an apartment but it’s more of a penthouse. I guess dating a princess has its perks. It’s pretty big but also pretty sparse at the moment. Oh well that’s a bridge Moonfall and I will cross when we get there. (Which will probably be soon) I guess I should introduce myself. The name’s Thunder Jolt, just call me Jolt. I’m a guitarist. That may sound odd for a pony but I’m not exactly what you’d call normal. I was born in Canterlot with very weak wings. I can’t fly for much longer than five minutes without hurting myself. My wings may be virtually useless but to compensate I have extremely strong and quick hooves; I can run a block in five seconds flat. As the last furniture we had ordered or brought with us was arriving, my stomach started to call for food. Seconds became minutes as I waited for the moving ponies to finish. After the 5 minutes of increasingly agonizing hell I grab my guitar and set out for the city. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Sky scrapers shot up all around me as I walked down the streets of this grand city. Ponies where clustered on the streets, which were lined with shops and restaurants. As I was a bit low on bits I decided to have breakfast at a midtown diner. The bagel was delicious and the coleslaw couldn’t be finer. My mind was flooded with thoughts of Moon as I finished the scrumptious meal. I was so excited about being with her. We’re pretty madly in love. I check the clock on the diner wall. Moon will be at Quill Station in 30 minutes. I pay for the meal and head out for the train station. My mind is flooded with images of Moonfall. The Arrival Quill Station was packed to the brim with ponies. Some were arriving, others departing, or waiting for somepony, but a lot were venders. I found the last platform where the trains arrived and waited. ‘Of course the train is late.’ I started to strum a tune on my guitar. Ponies threw coins in front of me. ‘Free money, who’s complainin’.’ About fifteen minutes later, her train pulled up. The last cart was the cart that held the apple of my eye. It was probably a privet cart, the princess needed to keep a low profile. Everypony filed out of the train cars. About five minutes later my love came out of her car. My heart pounded in my orange heart once I laid eyes on her. Her curly lavender mane and tail flowed out of her purple body. I wish she could show her wings but that would give her away as an alicorn in public. As a result she would use a spell to disguise her wings. She wearily scanned the platform and her beautiful lime eyes landed on me. Did her wings twitch when she did? I got off the wall I was leaning on and dashed to my love. “Moon!” I was smile from ear to ear. “Jolt!” Her drowsy demeanor changed to one of intense glee. I embraced her tightly. She returned the hug. For a few brief moments we reveled in each other’s company. “Hey honey, how was the trip?” I asked my sweet. “Boring as hell, but totally worth it!” She hugged me tighter. “Well I’ll have to do something to liven up your day.” I let go. “You in the mood for ice cream?” “If you’re buyin’.” She teased. “Well lets go home to drop your stuff off than I’ll treat you to that ice cream!” PerksPerks “So what have you done in your time in the city?” The mare at my side asked, as we walked down the streets of the city. “Not much. Got here and slept on the air matrices.” I answered. “When the moving ponies left today I got some breakfast at some dinner.” “Well I’m here now, so your life has meaning again!” She teased. “More or less.” I smiled back. “So where’s this ice cream place?” “It’s actually a restaurant, but it’s famous for its ice cream.” “Somepony did their research.” She pecked my cheek. “My little geek.” “Whatever you say, your highness.” I kissed her back. We when by central park and finally we arrived at the famous Staliondipity 3. It was a quaint little place, both floors no bigger than an average apartment. The tables where all marble and there was cool if not tacky art dotting the walls. The place was packed with ponies with huge plates of food in front of them. “Table for 2, please.” I asked told the hostess. “Do you have a reservation?” She asked. “No.” “Then I’m afraid you’ll have to wait an hour.” “I’m sorry hon,” I turned to Moon. “I guess we’ll either have to wait or come some other day.” “Let me try something.” Moon winked. She stepped up to the mare and bright light emanated from her. Once my vision was restored I was graced with the sight of her beautiful wings. Everypony around us bowed. I would have but I know Moon hates it when ponies do that. “I don’t usually do this, but I’ve been in a train all day. I’m sure you have a table for royalty.” “Of course.” The hostess led us to a table upstairs, which had just been cleared. “Here are your menus.” “Thanks Moon!” I was happy. “Anytime for you, Jolt.” I blushed at her response. Luckily her face was buried in a menu she didn’t notice. “Frozen hot chocolate, that sounds good.” “Yeah that’s their most famous one.” “I guess I know what we’re sharing.” “Sounds like a plan!”
