A War Of Steam

Some believe that before the princesses of sun and moon came to rule over Equestria, the world was not much different than it is today. There were cities and villages, endless fields and orchards, and prosperity. Some believe that times were darker. There were anarchists who enslaved hundreds and ruled with iron hooves, cataclysmic battles over land and riches, and pestilences and famines which scarred the world.

But they're all mistaken. Before the time of Celestia and Luna, there was nothing. Equestria existed in total darkness. There was not a single living thing which walked the earth. It was a barren desert of despair and suffering. It was an empty land, devoid of any hope at all. There was no sun or moon to illuminate the soil.

Only when Celestia and Luna appeared did life begin to grow in the desolation. The sun rose with indescribable radiance and beauty every day, and the moon rose with a soft, gentle glow every night. Plants broke the dirt and rose up to the sun's brilliance. Fruits sprouted on these plants, and sustained the first of the pony folk. Civilization began, and Equestria prospered with determination and hope and peace.

The princesses were not born of rich, royal families and given the right to rule from their parents. One could say they just came about. The conditions were right and they came into being. Celestia and Luna are not princesses. They are goddesses. It is because they came into existence that the sun and moon did also. And it is because they live on today that Equestria continues to prosper in peace and serenity. If the princesses of sun and moon were eradicated from the world, there is no telling what kind of chaos would ascend...

Here begins our story.

"Get up, Cedric! Get up!!"

"I'm sorry, brother. I'm sorry. My time is up."

"No! Don't say that!! You can do this! Get up!"

"Arthur-"

"Come on Cedric get up!!"

"Arthur...do you remember Celia?"

"Tell me later, okay?! Come on, you need to get up!! I can't carry you, so you need to do this!"

"Ah, Celia...I loved her."

"CEDRIC!!"

"She was the most beautiful of all...the only one that mattered..."

"Please, Cedric! Please..."

"Arthur...promise me you will find one as beautiful as Celia...promise me you will find one to love, and love her with all your heart. Guard her with your life. Promise me, Arthur...."

"Cedric..."

"Guard her no matter what it takes......Arthur.......promise me........."

"...C-Cedric..?"

"............"

"No....this wasn't supposed to happen........THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!!!!!!"
