Under The Mistletoe
Mistletoe
Load Full StoryUnder The Mistletoe
Ah, Hearth's Warming Eve, for most a day of happiness, family bonding, and presents, for others is a day to rub it in every-pony's face that they've done their shopping before . . . hoof. For one Gabriel is something a little different to him. Obviously he's- oh, he's humming.
I hummed Frank Sinatra - Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Frank Sinatra as I clenched the tree I held in my aura with Trixie. Suddenly I felt more pressure on the tree. I glanced to see Trixie was staring at a book entitled "Human Holidays" I snickered. If she was wondering the holidays humanity had she could've asked me.
I slowly moved over to her. "You know you could've asked me if you were wondering about holidays humans have, Trixie," I giggled as she was at the verge of smiling soon as she came back to reality she walked into the store. She's ignoring me isn't she? Of course, is she forgetting I know what it is to be human? I sighed as I waited outside of the store. In seconds of purchasing the book I saw a mint green unicorn.
"You know about humans?!" the mint mare seemed happy.
I cleared my throat. "Well, uh . . . sure. I know about them . . . Lyra," I smiled sheepishly.
She didn't seem to care I knew her name probably because I know Pinkie Pie, and she knows every-pony in Ponyville. The mint unicorn's horn sparked with excitement.
"Eeh I knew wasn't the only one who thought humans are real!" she exclaimed smiling widely at me.
I smiled back in a sheepish look as I saw Trixie wonder out of the shop with a bag in her aura. I sighed knowing what this meant. "Honestly Trixie? You could-" I turned back to the mint mare - following a little too close for comfort - "Please leave us be Lyra." I said flatly pushing her out of my way as I held the tree in my weakening aura. Lyra frowned.
"Fine." She left at that moment.
I nodded as I looked to my left and right. "Trixie, you could've asked about our kinds of holidays. I'd be happy to tell you," I said bluntly as I carefully placed down the tree. "And, can we stop a moment? Please?" I panted lightly I never carried something so heavy with my magic and alone at that.
I had a small coughing fit from the crisp cold air. "You alright Gabe?" Trixie asked seeing my have a coughing fit.
I nodded and shook that off. "Yeah, it's just, you know, I just have trouble breathing in winter time." I put my hoof on my chest feeling my heart beat a little faster.
Trixie nodded as she grabbed the log with me along with the book she bought; a smile on the mare's face. "Uh . . . Merry . . ." Trixie flipped through the pages of the book trying to find the right page. "Christmas!" Trixie smiled and I giggled.
"Thanks Trixie, but, you know you need a-" my sentence was cut short by the feeling of my saddlebag. "OW! I hate this darn saddlebag," I grumbled as I rubbed my back with one of my hooves.
Trixie knew that the saddlebag wasn't the greatest saddlebag ever created. She knew my pain when she mistakenly took my saddlebag instead of hers.
Trixie read as her horn followed the trail of my own aura. Her purple-blue magic cascaded with my yellow-blue magic almost perfectly. I peered over Trixie's shoulder. The page was on Christmas of course. It was on the traditional stuff, such as a tree (X) check. Decorations (X) check. Presents (X) check . . . I think, I got something for Trixie and of course Scootaloo.
I smirked as I lifted the tree in my magic. "I must say, for a former human becoming a pony for only two months you are quite the user of magic." Trixie smirked as she let the tree fall into only my aura. I grunted. "Yeah, yeah, it's not my talent though," I glanced at my flank for a moment as usual nothing was there.
Trixie simply rolled her eyes. "Don't feel that way. You know Scootaloo and I feel that you'll get your talent soon enough, Gabriel," she smiled at me as we walked nudging me on the shoulder.
I rubbed my shoulder as a reaction. "I know. I just-" I stopped myself before I sounded like the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Granted, I am part of them. I smirked lightly thinking to myself how much I sound like my adoptive daughter.
I held the tree still in my aura. "May I ask one thing?" I stopped Trixie for a moment.
"What is it?" Trixie swooshed back.
I held the tree in place. "Why did we need to go to the farthest forest from Ponyville?" I knew she was a bit of a stubborn pony especially now that there's a fourth princess in Equestria.

I was beginning to lose my grip on the tree. As soon as the door opened I was shocked by the sight decorations that matched perfectly with a Christmas decorations. Hearth's Warming Eve aren't normally similar with decoration of Christmas despite the tree, I smiled. "Good job Scootaloo, now, where's Apple Bloom?" I snickered as I saw paint drip from a curtain.
A familiar song began playing in the back of my ears. "Is that?" I turned to see none other than a record playing Dean Martin - Let it Snow "Wow, you got every detail didn't you?" I giggled as I looked around feeling as if I wasn't in a land of equines.
Trixie approached me wearing a red and white jacket. She grinned I soon saw her horn glowing dark blue. I was confused until I saw a minor blush on her face. I looked up and there it was the mistletoe. I soon heard a specific song begin to play. Frank Sinatra - Jingle Bells My face turned red as Trixie kissed me in the corner of my cheek. I smiled. Soon she kissed me on the lips under the mistletoe. Faintly I could hear Scootaloo say "Eww". The others were smiling warmly.
