Twilight Sparkle, a new princess of Equestria, worked a long, boring day of writing letters to some of her prized students. The lavender alicorn smashed her quill on the paper in exaggeration and stacked it on another set, switched to another letter and laid her head on her wrist with her elbow on the table while she read it. After reading it in a few seconds, she dragged the quill across the paper, ink streaking into words as the alicorn sighed. She did this on and on until a yellow-armored guard opened the giant doors leading to her private workroom.

"Your majesty," The guard said as he bowed. "Princess Celestia excuses you home, she feels you have worked hard enough." Twilight dropped the quill in her telepathic grasp and pushed her chair away from the desk. Getting out of the chair, the lavender princess sighed in exhaustion and walked up the royal stairs up to her room, her head down.

The sound of two guards walking towards her made her fasten her trotting. Guuuh...I feel so weird when those guards try to...guard me. It doesn't feel very right... Twilight said in her mind. As the guards approached, Twilight jerked around and saw that Shining Armour and another guard were behind her. Shining's eyes lit up when he saw her.

"Twily! It's been so long! I heard you were going to bed, and since it's my royal duty as a guard to guard you, I felt that since I'm a guard and your brother, it would be good bonding time for us!" Shining tried to catch up to Twilight; she was now galloping. The other guard was also trying to catch up with the purple princess, but tripped and didn't try to follow again.

"Twi - why - are - you - running - so fast?!" The brother screamed through bursts of speed. Twilight didn't slow down - instead, she ran even faster, and when she got to her room she slammed the door, locking it and collapsing on her bed.

"Twilight! What are you doing?" Shining screamed, knocking on the door. Twilight opened her wings and teleported to the door, jerking it open with a grunt.

"Listen, brother, I'm sorry! I can't talk right now, I'm exhausted. I'll talk to you tomorrow, okay?" Twilight sighed, closing the door, not listening for a response. Shining grunted a "okay" and walked slowly down the stairs. Twilight trotted back to her bed and cuddled under the covers, scrunching her muzzle up and taking off her crown. As her eyes closed, she pulled the blanket closer to her face as she tried to go to sleep.

At 12:35, she awoke and Twilight couldn't go back to sleep. She had tried a glass of warm milk, daydreaming, listening to calm music, reading and rolling around in bed. Her eyes wouldn't allow her to sleep. Instead, she put on her crown and went for a walk outside the royal castle. Twilight still never got sleepy, but the beautiful, black, starry night sky made her want to sleep. During the walk, she decided to bring a book with her incase she got bored.

Soon, her assumptions were infact correct as she looked for a place to read the 2,659 paged book. The lavender princess looked at some benches - too uncomfortable. She found an oddly shaped bush - she found out it was a rose bush and quickly got out before her flank was covered in thorns. She looked above and saw a big, puffy cloud in the sky. She fluffed her wings open and flapped them as she rested on the cloud placed in the sky. The wind made the cloud move as if being pushed (which she found awkward), but Twilight didn't mind much at all. Instead, she opened the book to where she put the red, silky bookmark and started reading. Halfway through her reading, however, a weird growl made her shut the book on accident, loosing her place where she was reading.

If she wasn't fully awake before, she was more than fully awake now. The growl happened again, more louder and scarier now. Twilight's senses were more growing more accurate as the growl grew louder. Tired of this weird noise, she thrust her body away from the cloud, the book in her telepathic grasp, and glided off the puffy cottonball and into the sky, avoiding any weird noises coming from any creepy places or nearby houses. Before leaving the cloud, though, she saw a giant white angel - with protruding hair on the back of it's head, a giant engine-looking thing as a tail, a hound-like snout, bird-like feet and blue rings around it's wrists (which had giant wing flaps coming out from it) - whizz past her, but she was barely able to see the giant beast before it disappeared out of sight and nowhere to be seen.

Twilight kept gliding along the night sky until she saw the royal castle placed upon the giant mountain cliff. She closed her left wing, her other right wing opened wide, making her make a sharp turn and straight towards the castle. Her hooves finally touched the ground as she walked back up the royal stairs and up to her room, watching out for guards. As she settled in her bed and under the covers, her mind couldn't resist thinking out loud.

"What was that?" She asked herself, slowly falling asleep as the thought of the giant angel filled her mind. Her dreams were also filled with the giant angel.
