What's in the Box?
"Spike!" shouted a voice. "Wake up!"
"BWAH!" Spike jumped awake in a start. "Twilight? What time is it?" he said as he groggily rubbed his eyes and stepped out into the main area of the library.
"Just get down here now, we have plenty of research to do!" Twilight said as she frantically raced from one end of the library to the other.
"Research? Researching for what?" Spike said as he walked down the steps.
"The box!" she gasped. "I need to open it!"
"The 'box'? You mean that thing you found at the tree of friendship?"
"Harmony!" she corrected him.
"Right, right, harmony. It has literally been less than a week and you want to open it?" he smirked. "What happened to waiting until the timing is right?"
Spike had lost count of how many times Twilight went back and forth from one end of the library to the other. If she kept this up any longer she just wear another hole in the floor.
"You know what they say, curiosity killed the cat." Spike stated.
"Yes, but satisfaction brought it back." she retorted.
"But the cat's dead." Spike put it bluntly.
"That's not the point! Jus- Just help me find a book." she huffed. Spike walked over to a nearby shelf and lifted several books out.
"What are we looking for exactly?" Spike enquired.
"Anything related to the tree of harmony, so take out any medieval related book; I bet we'll find a good source of information starting there." Twilight said excitedly.
"The tree huh? Well, why not just read this?" Spike held up a book titled 'Star Swirl's Journal'.
"Where did you get this?" Twilight gasped.
"We got it from Canterlot. Princess Celestia sent all his journals over to this library just before your coronation." Spike said. "This one mentions a tree he found. It must be the tree of harmony."
"Spike! Why didn't you bring this to my attention?" Twilight grabbed the book using her magic and teleported over to her personal reading podium. As quick as she could, she shuffled through the pages, scanning ever single one for any mention of the tree.
"I just did." Spike huffed and walked to her.
"Ah ha! Here it is," she exclaimed. "entry number forty two." Spike peered over her shoulder and read along with her.

Another day of failed attempts have resulted in this blasted box remaining sealed. The spell I've tried using is showing some results but there are six key holes, I can't manage any more than 4 spells simultaneously. My apprentice Clover has had no results either. She tells me of a tree that can open the infernal thing without unicorn magic. I hardly believed it at first, but tomorrow we will travel to the tree and hope for some answers.
"He never opened it." Twilight frowned.
"Well dang it, what do we do now?" Spike asked.
Twilight laughed to herself and shut the book. "Isn't it obvious?" she said.
"Uh- is it?" Spike said dumbly.
"There's six keys. Think about it, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity and myself. Six friends!" Twilight teleported to the other side of the library and threw another two books at her assistant. "It's almost as it was made for us. Imagine if the six of us had to go on six different adventures and learn a lesson about friendship to obtain a key?"
"So you're taking a shortcut." Spike said
"Yes." Twilight puffed out her chest and flared her horn.

A few hours later, all five of Twilight Sparkle's friends had gathered in the Golden Oaks library. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash followed Spike to the library after listening to his huffed and puffed explanation, while Twilight sought out her other friends. Applejack and Rarity followed Twilight and agreed to help look for Pinkie Pie, and as if by some twisted fate, Pinkie Pie showed up at the library before they had a chance to set out and look for her.
"Thank you girls for coming on such short notice, I'm guessing you have many questions as to why I have called you here."
"Not really, Spike filled me in on the way here." Rainbow said.
"NOT ME!" Pinkie said as she bounced around in a circle.
"Well, anyway, I'm going to cast a spell listed here in Star Swirl's journal." Twilight saw Applejack and Rarity glance at each other with an uneasy face. "I don't want any of you to worry, but I have no idea what it might do. All I know is that the six of us have to do it together, as friends."
"We trust you Twilight." Applejack said, Twilight looked to every one of her friends faces and was returned with a smile.
"Spike bring me the book!" Twilight commanded.

"Spike?" Twilight walked over him, he was reading the book with Star Swirl's spell. "Spike, I need the book to start the spell."
"Hang on Twilight," he flipped another page and read for a moment. "hey, did you know Star Swirl had four daughter's with his apprentice Clover The Clever. How about tha-hey!" "I was mostly his fault!" Twilight raised her voice as if talking directly to Spike and nopony else. "Ok, here we go."
The six of them stood on each side of the locked box. Twilight flared her horn, all of her friends closed their eyes and concentrated of the friendship they shared, except for Pinkie Pie, who thought of cake frosting and kinky thoughts of licking it off her good friend Rainbow Dash.
