If I could kiss you for all the world
Moonage Daydream
Load Full StoryThe most loyal friend a child could have in any lifetime is the one who stands by your side util the end even after you stop. Who cried when you laughed, laughed when you cried, who never in any lifetime truly ignores you.
So Twilight Sparkle waited at the door for Spike to come home from the market. She was crouched down close to the door with a smirk on her face. Human rights and wrongs determined not by Justice, but by Might. Disguise it as may, the naked sword is still king. She felt excitement when Spike opened the door and yelled,
"I'm home!"
Twiilight leapt toward him as usual. He tackled Spike down with ease. She expected Spike to attempt to push her off, but it didn't exactly end up the way. Spike hit his head hard.
"Ow! Twilight get off of me!" Spike yelled.
"No!" Twilight growled playfully. She wanted to wrestle, but as always Spike was ruining the fun. Statute books and golden rules were made to fetter slaves and fools. Very useful are they, for controlling the herds of sentenced convicts who fill the factories.
"Get off of me! I'm hurt, I'm hurt!" Spike cried. Twilight immediately knew something was wrong. She immediately got off.
"Spike?" Twilight Sparkle asked, all traces of playfulness gone. Then, and only then, did she notice the blood. Involuntarily stumbled back in fear. She felt herself shake realizing she'd done this. Looked at her hooves and there were subtle traces of blood. The mare wanted to run, but she knew he couldn't. Her best friend needed her. She hurried to Spike's side and put her hoof on his head.
"Leave me alone Twilight!" Spike said through the tears.
"Spike?" Momma Dragon asked. Then she walked outside and saw the whole scene; Spike laying there and Twilight Sparkle stained with blood. She gasped and ran inside quickly. She called 9-1-1 and hurried back to Spike, knowing to beware of all the Holy books. She picked up Twilight and handed her to him, hoping it would comfort him a bit. Spike, however didn't want her.
Soon the ambulance sirens were heard and they got Spike on a gurney. Momma Dragon stood by in the ambulance. She was still holding Twilight, having no idea that she could feel emotion, let alone sadness.
….
It had been a while since Spike was admitted to the ER. Momma Dragon waited alone in the waiting room, well not exactly. Every time she'd thought she had it made. To be fair she was holding Twilight, but it was nothing, but a simple plebian to her. A simple purple pony that she had no idea.
…..
A few hours passed and the doctors entered the lobby.
"Your baby dragon is in a critical condition... we might have to keep an eye on him for a while." The doctor said. "We'll call you when he can come out of the hospital."
She lead Spike's mom into the room where Spike lay unconscious. Momma Dragon felt her throat get tight. She approached the bed with the unicorn. He had a large white bandage, stained with crimson on his forehead. Momma Dragon got teary eyed, for he that tamely submits, to insult and injury is worse than a dog. She placed Twilight in Spike's arms before leaving.
And time was out of sight. Twilight felt stiff as she lay next to Spike. The abnormal is he that toils for a master, half-starves, and 'thinks'. She saw the damage caused to her dragon and almost cried.
"I'm...sorry.." She sniffled. Then she fell into uncontrollable tears. Spike woke to the sound of tears only he could hear. He looked over blankly at Twiilight.
"Spike!" Twilight said enthusiastically and gave him a unicorn hug. Spike scowled.
"Get off of me! This was your fault! If you did feel sorry you'd just leave me alone!" Spike nearly growled.
"You want me to leave?" Twilight asked sounding hurt. Spike nodded once furiously. Twilight couldn't control his tears again. At first she couldn't believe her best dragon would do this! Then... she remembered the much worse thing she did. She heard the doctor, she said he was in "Critical condition." If nature had permitted them to live and multiply and propagate their 'progress,' that is to say, their iniquity, what a noisome sink it would be? Spike had every right to be mad.
"Okay..." Twilight Sparkle chocked. "But before I leave...I'm sorry...I didn't know I could hurt you like this. I'm sorry. I hope you get better soon. Good bye, Spike..." Could she believe in life after love?
"Twilight.." Spike said, his voice barely a whisper. When the unicorn turned to face him, Spike squinted his left eye. Twilight hugged him back. This simple gesture meant much more. Twilight smiled and snuggled next to Spike.
Epilogue...
"I'm home!" Spike called as he entered the library. It had been a month and he was back in chores. Twilight smiled and gave him a hug.
"This is much better than you pouncing on me." Spike chuckled. Then he felt Twilight stop hugging. He looked up and saw Twilight staring blankly into space. Twilight was thinking about it again. "Oh...sorry..I forgot you're kind of touchy about that..."
In fact Twilight was. She felt horrible for the longest time. It took her until this month not to keep thinking about it. Before, she had countless nightMares about it. She was also extra nice to Spike (Even though Spike thought it was rather annoying.)
Twilight Sparkle gave a gentle smile. "It's okay."
She took it all too far, but boy could she play guitar; And not everything would be the same but it was okay.
