Equestria–a metropolis of slums controlled by a state of corrupted bureaucracy. The populace are rebellious against Celestia's title, allowing ECHOES to have almost complete dominance over the government.
The night of Nightmare Moon's return approaches, and Celestia directs her prodigy student on a quest to find and bond with the Element's second compatible bearer for harmonic fidelity, just as the two sisters did centuries ago.
Unbeknownst to the them, ECHOES is operated by an underground organization loyal to Nightmare's name, founded shortly before her rebellion and banishment, and are determined to stop at nothing to guarantee her rightful throne.
Conspiracies rise. Illicit activities involve entire nations. Risks of assassination linger around every corner. No one can be trusted.
And somehow Twilight must find and bond with her mate for the Elements of Harmony while played in a deadly game of chess in the midst of it all.
