Chapters Before I could leave I was caught by Twilight, she made me come back in. I wasn’t too happy about it either, so I just sat in a booth by myself.
“Howler what’s wrong you seem anxious.” She said
“Nothing that concerns you.” I responded
“Why doesn’t it?” She asked
“It is something that I am going to take care of alone.” I said
“Howler whatever it is I am sure that if we worked together and with the power of friendship we can beat it.” She responded cheerfully.
“Sorry but this thing is only my problem.” I said
“Alright then let’s change the subject.” Twilight said
“To what?” I asked
“How’s your magic coming along?” She asked
“Fine.” I said
“You’re trying to make this difficult aren’t you?” She asked, I just remained silent and she got up and went to talk to some orange Pegasus guard.
I sat there bored out of my mind so I decided to tune into other ponies conversations, starting with that Manehatten filly and the Apple family.
“Who is that weird child sitting by themselves?” One of the older relatives asked
“Just try to ignore him, he’s only here to give us information once he does he’ll leave.” Applejack said
“What’s his name?” The Manehatten filly asked
“His name is Howler, why Babs.” Applebloom responded.
“Just wonderin.” She responded
Up next were Rarity and her family.
“That weird colt is he alright?” Her mother asked
“Oh he’s just being himself, didn’t I tell you about him?” Rarity said
“You mean he’s the one who mauled that little colt?” Her dad asked
“No at least I don’t think he would do something like that but after yesterday I’m not sure.” Rarity responded
“So what are you all planning to do with him?” Her mother asked
“Right now nothing but we’ll think of something.” Rarity responded
Up next was Twilight and her family, this was going to be interesting.
“Twilight who is that kid?” The orange Pegasus asked
“That’s just Howler, he doesn’t trust other ponies.” Twilight said
“Well Twilight I think we should change that.” Shining said
“Hey Howler whatcha doin?” Discord said breaking my concentration, this is what I meant by he liked to annoy me.
“Discord?!” I said as I fell back into the seat.
“You know whenever you’re doing that eve’s dropping thing, you’re too easy.” Discord said laughing.
“How did you know that’s what I was doing?” I asked quietly
“Simple your ears having been moving all-around of course I’m the only one who noticed.” Discord said
“Can’t you go bug Fluttershy or somepony else?’ I asked as I tried to retune to Twilight’s conversation.
“Well aren’t you the special one not even your friend Phenia can do that.” Discord said before going over to Fluttershy. I tuned back into Twilight’s
“So he doesn’t trust you because you tried to turn him in?” Her mom asked
“He claims he didn’t do anything and lied right to my face.” Twilight said
“He could have been telling the truth.” Cadence said
“Yeah I guess so, what would you do Flash?” Twilight asked, just as I saw a little transparent alicorn filly float by not only that but I started to see inside ponies
I got up and started to follow the filly, she just passed through ponies, and as I followed I could pick up ponies conversations.
“What’s he doing?” Fluttershy asked
“Let me check.” Discord said before appearing right in front of and I was so focused on the filly I ran right into him.
“Equestria to Howler.” Discord said
“Where did she go?” I thought out loud completely ignoring Discord.
“Howler snap out of it, and who are you talking about.” Discord asked as my vision went back to normal.
“Nothing.” I said as began to scan the room for any sign of her.
“Whatever, stop acting weirder than normal.” Discord said as he teleported me back to the booth I was sitting at.
I retuned into Twilight’s conversation.
“Twilight I was wondering if you maybe wanted to go out with me?” Flash asked
“Yes I would love to.” Twilight said as she jumped with joy.
I tuned out and tuned into Celestia and Luna’s conversation
“Dearest sister what are we going to do about Howler?” Luna asked
“I don’t know he’s acting off though.” Celestia responded
“Did you see how he just bumped into Discord like he wasn’t even there?” Luna said
“Yes very suspicious.” Twilight said as she joined the conversation
“What do you think has gotten into him?” Celestia asked
“Nothing much I think he just smelled blood from Cheerilee cutting herself and he was drawn like a shark.” Twilight said
“Should we be worried?” Luna asked
“I don’t think so but we should keep an eye on him.” Twilight said
“Agreed.” Celestia said
I felt something going on with my hands I looked down they were coming apart. I began to freak out, everyone began to look at me, and there was sheer horror on their faces. My fur began to flake off, and so did my face. I was surrounded by a white light, and started becoming a wolf. Soon the light faded, and Twilight rushed over to me.
“Howler did you do that.” She asked I was so confused I couldn’t speak.
“Howler, are you alright?” Twilight asked as she looked into my eyes.
“Twilight what was that?” Rainbowdash asked
“I don’t know Howler talk to me.” Twilight demanded
“He better not have done this.” Rarity said as she tried to comfort Sweetiebelle
“Rarity shut up, he is just a shaken up as Sweetiebelle.” Twilight said
“Twilight do you know any spell that could have forced him to change like that?” Applejack asked as she hugged Applebloom
“No there isn’t one.” Twilight said
“This is most troublesome.” Celestia said looking at Discord
“Hey it wasn’t me I like the kid.” Discord said
“Well then who else could it be?” Fluttershy asked
“I BET IT WAS THAT NO GOOD PONY KILLER HOWLER!” Rarity yelled
“Rarity Howler isn’t that good with magic.” Applejack pointed out
“Well it seems like Howler is in some form of shock.” Cheerilee said
“Anypony have any ideas on how to fix him?” Rainbowdash asked
“WE SHOULD KILL HIM LIKE HE DID THAT OTHER FILLY!” Rarity yelled
“Shut up Rarity.” I said as I snapped back into Reality.
“I’m sorry I didn’t know that my spell would do this.” The ghost girl said as she appeared in front me.
“Well can you please reverse it?” I asked
“Yes, I will.” She said as her horn lit up with an eerie glow and I was put back to normal.
“So what’s your name?” I asked
‘I don’t remember.” She responded
“Howler what are you doing?” Twilight asked I just waved her off.
“Well why are you here?” I asked
“Because I need help finding my memories, I think they’re in Ponyville.” She explained
“So why did you turn me into a wolf?” I asked
“I didn’t mean to it was an accident I just wanted you to see me.” She said as she drifted closer. I now could see her clearly she was actually kind of cute.
“Well I forgive you, so where do you think your memories are?” I asked
“In the part of the forest covered by the black mist, that’s also the reason I came to ask for your help.” She responded
“Sure I’ll help.” I said thinking that it would get me out of here quicker.
“Sorry Howler but the forest is too dangerous for you to go alone.” Twilight said
“And the party isn’t over yet.” Pinkie added
“Twilight I’ve been living in that forest for a month now and I now almost every inch of it, I’ll be fine.” I protested
“I can wait for the party to be over.” The ghost girl said as she floated over to the booth I was sitting at.
“Howler I don’t trust her.” Twilight said I ignored her and sat down next to the ghost.
“So do you have any memories?” I asked
“No I can’t say that I do.” She said
“well I think you need a name.” I said
“How about Spectra.” I said
“I like it.” She said
“So why do you need my help?” I asked
“You know the forest and I need to get to the castle and tree of harmony.” She said
“Howler if I may speak to you for a moment.” Twilight said as she pulled me aside and into the kitchen where the others where.
“What do you want Twilight?” I asked
“Howler you can’t be considering helping that ghost.” Twilight said
“I am and there is nothing you can do about it.” I said
“Howler look we just want you to be safe, and why do you feel like you have to help her?” Twilight asked
“I just do.” I said
“There is no way we’re going to get through to you is there.” Twilight said
“Nope.” I said
Soon the party was over and despite all the objections I still went towards the entrance of the forest. Twilight and her friends followed me, along with their families. I think it was because they didn’t want to think I was actually going to help a ghost. As we approached the forest it became clear what was going on in there, several of those bugs were clinging onto the trees and there were animal carcasses everywhere drained of their blood.
“Howler promise me one thing.” Twilight said
“What?” I asked
“That’ll you’ll come back in one piece.” Twilight said
“Promise.” I said as entered the forest I could still hear their conversations.
“Do you think he’ll be alright?” Her mother asked
“Howler will be fine.” Twilight said
“Yeah if those bugs don’t get to him.” Rainbowdash said
“Rainbow stop.” Applejack said
“Why I mean it is true.” Rainbowdash said
“You all worry too much.” Phenia said
“Are you alright Twilight.” The orange guy asked as Twilight ran into the forest he soon followed along with Rarity and Rainbowdash who were the closest to the forest and as soon as they entered the exit closed off.
“Spectra what’s going on?” I asked
“Ponies aren’t supposed to enter the mist.” She said as she glared at them.
“Sorry I couldn’t let you do this alone.” Twilight said
“Ewe why did I come in here there’s filth everywhere.” Rarity said as she jumped into the orange guy’s arms, which then received a harp glare from Twilight.
“Well you better get used to it because now we have to get rid of this black mist.” I pointed out as I started to walk further into it alongside Spectra.
“If ponies aren’t supposed to enter the forest why can I enter it?” I asked
“You’re a half breed part wolf part pony.” She said
“So where are we going?” Rainbowdash asked as she caught up with us.
“The tree of harmony and the castle.” Spectra said
We walked for a little ways then it got dark so we decided to stop and rest for the night, but Spectra and I wanted to get this done as soon as possible so we continued ahead until we found the tree of harmony and the castle.
“So here it is now what?” I asked
“I used the elements of harmony to restore my memories." she said as she went to tree.
“Spectra I don’t think that’s a good idea.” I said
“I guess your right I almost forgot that the magic from the tree is fading.” She said
“I have an idea.” I said as I went over to the tree.
“What?” She asked
“This.” I said as I touched the tree I could feel the power rush through me as I casted a memory spell on Spectra, she was engulfed in a gray rainbow. When it faded there was a living filly in a black gown on. She was black, and had cyan eyes, her mane was a light blue, and she was even cuter than before.
“Spectra?” I said
“Howler you did it.” She said as she rushed over and hugged me, I could feel blood rush to my face.
“So tell me, what’s your real name?” I asked
“It’s Aurora but I like Spectra better...” She said
“Let’s go find the others.” I said
We began walking towards where we left them they were sound asleep still, so we decided to just wait till the morning. I sat down up against a tree and Spectra sat right next to me.
“Thank you Howler.” She said
“No problem so do you have any family or anything?” I asked
“From what I can remember I was left to die in this forest.” She said
“Well at least you get a second chance I said
“Yeah I guess.” She said
We fell asleep soon after.
“Hey you two wake up.” Rainbowdash said as she made it rain on us.
“HEY!” I yelled
“Well it seems you to have quite a night.” Rarity said as she realized we had fallen asleep on each other.
“Well who is she?” Twilight asked
“It’s Spectra.” I said their jaws hit the ground.
“You brought her back to life.” Rainbowdash said
“No the tree did.” I said
“How did you tap into the tree’s power?’ twilight asked
“I touched it.” I said
“So we can finally leave this filthy place.” Rarity asked
“Yep.” I said
“Alright then let’s go.” The orange guy said
Spectra walked alongside Twilight and Rarity walked next to me.
“You like her don’t you.” Rarity teased
“What her no maybe yes.” I stuttered
“So that’s a yes then.” Rarity said
“So what.” I said
“Oh nothing I just think it’s cute is all.” Rarity said
“Great that’s all I need right now.” I said while I rolled my eyes.
I decided to tune into Twilight’s conversation
“So you’re like Howler’s mom?” Spectra asked
“I suppose so but he doesn’t really trust anypony anymore.” Twilight said
“Well he seems to like me.” Spectra said
“I know and I don’t know why.” Twilight said
“Well what about you and the orange guy.” Spectra asked
“Excuse me my name is not orange guy.” The Pegasus said
“Oh sorry that’s just what Howler calls you.” Spectra said.
“My name is Flash Sentry.” He said
“Oh okay.” Spectra said
We soon arrived into town to a warm welcoming.
“Welcome back Twilight, Flash, Rainbowdash, Rarity, little alicorn.” Celestia said before pausing.
“Who is this?” Celestia asked
“My name is Spectra.” Spectra responded
“And if you ask me Howler had a thing for her.” Rarity whispered into her ear.
“Oh.” Celestia said
“What?” Spectra asked
“Nothing.” I said nervously.
“Ok.” Spectra said
“She’s an alicorn?” Luna noticed
“Yes I am.” Spectra said
“Well I believe we should hold a meeting to discuss this development.” Celestia said
“Uh really is that your answer to everything?” I asked
“Fine we’ll talk about it right now.” Celestia said
“What even needs to be talked about?” I asked
“We need to decide what is to become of her and you.” Luna said
“What do you mean?” Spectra asked
“Well you see howler killed a pony a month ago and still is facing trial.” Celestia said
“But I didn’t.” I protested
“Then tell us another werewolf who wasn’t there at the time of the death.” Luna said
“I was with Twilight.” I said
“Yeah now that he mentions it he as with me.” Twilight said
“Well then we have a problem then.” Celestia said
“And what about me?” Spectra asked
“Until we can decide something you’ll be staying here with one of the elements.” Celestia said
“And Howler will be accompanying you.” Luna added
“Great.” I said as I rolled my eyes.
“will any of you volunteer?” Twilight asked
“We’ll do it.” Applejack said
“No I’ll do it after all a princess needs to stay away from the filth of a farm.” Rarity said
“Fine then if you want to care for a wolf then I’ll let you.” Applejack said
“Great so we’re in agreement.” Twilight said
“Wait so I have to live with Rarity?!” I said
“Why what’s wrong with that?” Spectra asked
“You’ll find out.” I said
We disbanded and headed to the boutique, I wasn’t too thrilled about it and to make matters worse I had to share a room with Sweetiebelle and Spectra. Also rarity still thinks I’m going to eat her as well and most importantly there was nothing for me to eat. I can honestly say that Rarity’s cat wasn’t happy either but if I was Rarity’s cat I wouldn’t be too happy either.
“Alright now Howler no funny business.” Rarity said
“What funny business.” I asked confused
“Oh right you’re not that old yet.” Rarity said before leaving the room
“Howler you can sleep here.” Sweetiebelle said as she gestured to a mattress on the floor.
“Where do I sleep?” Spectra asked
“You can share the bed with me.” Sweetiebelle said
“Okay.” She said as she got into the bed with Sweetiebelle.
“Lights out you all.” Rarity said as she turned off the lights and we went to sleep.
I was running through the town and there was a black version of myself going after Twilight, the figure was radiating some type of darkness off of him as he moved. He bit into Twilight’s neck spilling her blood all over me; he continues to bite down until her head came off.
“TWILIGHT!” I screamed as I woke up.
“Howler what’s wrong scared?” A pony asked he looked exactly like me except he looked like the figure in my dream.
“Shush you’ll wake them up if you keep screaming like that.” He said as he walked over to Spectra who were sleeping.
“Stay away from her.” I said
“Too bad." He said as he grabbed a hold of her neck and began to choke her, he squeezed tighter, I could her vertebrae slowly breaking and finally he through the lifeless corpse at me.
“Howler wake up.” Spectra’s lifeless body said as it turned its head around.
I woke up quickly; there were claw marks on the bed and bite marks on my arms. I looked up it was Rarity who was trying to wake me up, I looked over to the bed Sweetiebelle and Spectra were terrified.
“What’s going on?” I asked
“I heard screaming I came in here and there was a large dark wolf biting you arms, and it looked exactly like you.” Rarity explained.
“Where did it go?” I asked
“It just vanished but I don’t think it’s safe for you to stay here anymore.” Rarity said
“Then where should I stay the castle and have guards always watching me?’ I asked as I looked behind her the wolf was sitting there with an evil grin on its face. I transformed and went after it.
It turned and ran down the steps; I jumped from the top and landed right behind it. Rarity and the others followed. I ran faster it did the same, soon we were going too fast for the others to keep up and we headed towards Sugar Cube Corner. It ran in and I went in after it, the wolf jumped on top of the tables knocking them down then proceeded to jump over me and out the door. I followed and soon we entered the apple’s barn scaring the animals, then we did the same at Fluttershy’s cottage. Soon we ended up in the library and there was nowhere for it to run. We charged each other and bit onto each other’s shoulders; we jumped back and charged again this time clawing each other’s sides. We moved and fought in the same manner, I had to come up with a plan. I tried pouncing on him but he bit onto my arm and through me into the bookcase causing it to fall on me. I couldn’t get out from underneath it. I heard the door open and a window break.
The bookcase was lifted off of me by Rarity, and Spectra came running over to me. I couldn’t get up, my leg felt like it was broken, and my chest felt the same. I could tell I probably needed to go to hospital, but the worst part was I couldn’t change back into a pony.
“Somepony need to tell Twilight.” Applejack said as she lifted me up.
“What was that thing?” Rainbowdash asked
“And why go after Howler instead of Spectra or Rarity.” Fluttershy pointed out.
“Right now we need to Howler to a hospital or a vet or something.” Applejack said as she put me on her back.
After that I was out cold and when I woke up I was in the Canterlot hospital and there were guards by my side including the orange guy. I looked around the room some more and there were more guards at the door and Twilight was in the bed across from me with a bite mark on her neck. I was still a wolf as well, I tried to change back it was no use.
“Howler how are you feeling?” The orange guy asked I could tell he was mad at me for something.
“I’m fine what happened to her and what was the thing that attacked me?” I asked
“The same thing got to all of her guards and then past a magic barrier without even breaking it.” Flash said as he went over to Twilight who was just now waking up.
“I wonder.” I began to ponder if this thing had to do with the black mist in the forest.
“That’s it,” I cried out as I jumped out of the bed and onto the floor my entire body was in pain and I ended up falling.
“Howler what are you doing out of your bed.” Flash said as he rushed over to help me up.
“I’m going to kill that thing.” I said as I stood up and started to slowly make my way to the door.
“Howler that thing did this to you what makes you think you can beat it?” Twilight asked
“I’m just going to have to try.” I said before collapsing due to the immense pain that I was in.
“HOWLER!” Twilight yelled as flash picked me up and sat me down in the bed with her.
“Howler you can’t even move in your condition.” Flash said
“I don’t care I’ll still kill it.” I said
“Even if that means you die in the end to?” Flash asked
“Don’t try to stop me/” I responded
“Howler you don’t have to do this alone.” Twilight said as she patted my head.
I soon fell asleep, when I woke up I decided to keep my eyes shut and just listen to what they were talking about like how I used to do before I knew them.
“He sure is peaceful when he’s sleeping.” Flash said
“Reminds me of the times I used to spend with him.” Twilight said as she stoked my back gently.
“He sure has changed in the month he’s been gone.” Rarity said
“Rarity he’s changed in the past few days.” Rainbowdash said
“So twilight are you going to take him back in because if you do I think it would call for a party, and have you noticed that we never had a birthday party for Howler considering his birthday passed while he was staying with you weird.” Pinkie said just a little short of screaming.
“Pinkie pie would ya quite down.” Applejack said
“Okey Dookey.” Pinkie said
“So should we wake him?” Flash asked
“I say we let him sleep.” Twilight said
“There is one thing I don’t get through.” Flash said
“What’s that?” Twilight asked
“The creature tried to kill you but seemed to only play with Howler which would mean he was the main target but why he has no political influence or any
“That is what is most troubling about this situation.” Twilight said in agreement
“I have an idea.” Luna said as she walked in
“Luna what are you doing here?” Twilight asked
“Two things first Howler is being placed under my protection and second your parents, brother and Cadence have arrived to see you.” Luna said
“Wait why Howler is under your protection?” Twilight asked
“Until you are better it is the most logical choice being that Howler sleeps during either day or night and I am capable of staying up for extended periods of time
“Twilight how are you feeling?” Her mother asked
“I’m fine Howler received the worst of it.” Twilight said
“Why hasn’t he changed back?” Shining asked
“From what I can tell there’s a powerful spell preventing him from doing so/” Twilight said
“So did he actually fight the thing?” Cadence asked
“Yes he did I saw it.” Spectra spoke up
“And what was the things skill.” Shining asked
“It seemed to be an exact copy of Howler in strength skill, speed, everything.” She said
“So it’s just another Howler great that makes things easy.” Shining said
“Not exactly when was the last time you saw Howler fought as a wolf?” Flash asked
"Never but he is just a kid how good could he be.” Shining objected
“That means in order to evaluate the skill of the enemy we have to find out his skill level.” Flash said
“Easier said than done he is no condition to fight right now.” Twilight protested
“Agreed so we’ll just have to keep watch and wait.” Shining said
“I’ll be fine.” I said
“Howler no you won’t, you don’t need to push yourself like this.” Twilight objected
“Twilight’s right kid.” Flash said
“Howler does anything hurt?” Fluttershy asked
“Everything does.” I responded
“I expected as much I mean a bookcase fell on you.” Spectra said
“Ha funny.” I said
“Nice to see the hits to head didn’t change you much.” Discord said as he appeared beside Luna.
“Discord what are you doing here?” Fluttershy asked
“My dearest Fluttershy you are not my only friend, I have Howler and Twilight to look after to.” Discord said
“Not friends.” I said
“I know that, to be honest I just enjoy messing with you is all.” Discord said
“Knew it.” Twilight said
“Well I think it’s an improvement you haven’t tried to walk off like you did earlier.” Flash said
“Howler you did what?” Spectra said as she rushed over to my side.
“I just walked around is all?” I said
“And tried to go after that thing in your condition.” Flash added on
“Howler you can’t face that thing on your own.” Luna said
“Maybe not now but when I get out I am going to find that thing and destroy it.” I said
“Howler why do you feel the need to face everything on you own?” Twilight’s mom asked
“I just don’t want anypony to get hurt over my stupid mistake that I should have seen coming.” I said
“What are you talking about?” Twilight asked now concerned.
“I had the chance to beat but I let it get away.” I said now there were tears in my eyes.
“Howler it’s not your fault that I got hurt by thing.” Twilight said lovingly.
I soon fell back asleep I was too tired to stay awake for long, I think it was due to the amount of blood that I had lost. When I woke back up Flash was asleep leaning against the wall and so were Twilight and the rest of the guards including Luna. I heard the door creep open.
It was the dark me, it walked over and got on top of Twilight and out its mouth on her neck. I managed to ignore the pain and kick it off slamming into the medicine cabinet causing a lot of noise. I managed to get out of the bed and cut it off from the door. It casted a spell that separated us from the others.
“Howler what are you doing you’re in no condition to fight get out of there.” Twilight yelled as she woke up, waking everypony else up.
It charged and used it head as a battering ram sending me into the pile of broken glass. I stood up and braced myself for the next attack, it tried to pounce on me but I bit into its arm and through him into the magic barrier. It stood back up and we charged each other. We head butted each other jumped back and attacked again, our claws ripped into each other’s flesh as our teeth tried desperately to get into the neck of our enemy. Soon Flash entered the fight by flying around the barrier. The wolf dropped the barrier and ran away. I collapsed on the floor. Flash picked me up and put back into the bed, luckily this time I was still conscious.
“Somepony get a doctor now.” Flash ordered the guards as he examined a large piece of glass in my side, he tried to pull it out but couldn’t. I grabbed it with my mouth and ripped it out. The doctors came and took me to the emergency room and I was marked down as in critical condition.
I had my eyes shut, I couldn't speak or move, the only thing that seemed to be working were my noise and ears but then gain the only I could smell was blood. I could pick up what the doctor was saying to Twilight it didn't sound too good.
"Twilight Howler at best has three weeks left to live but that was three weeks ago when he first got here." the doctor said
"What is there any chance he'll live?" Twilight said
"There is but it’s so slim I personally don’t believe he will after all he has stopped healing now it’s only a matter of time." The doctor said
"Can I go see him before he dies?" Twilight asked on the verge of crying
"Certainly." The doctor said and Twilight and Spectra walked in
"Howler I just wanted to tell you before you died that...” Twilight began to say before another pony came running in.
"HOWLER I'M SO SORRY I WASNT THERE TO HELP." The pony said I recognized her as Phenia
"Hey who are you?" Spectra asked
"Phenia there was nothing you could have done for him." Twilight said as the heart monitor went flat. And Twilight began to cry as she and the others were
'You really got messed up." She said, the next thing I knew I was drinking blood from a water bottle
"There you should get better now." She said
"You there what are you doing he is already dead." The doctor said
"His heart rate is climbing sir." A nurse said as she ran in
"What?" The doctor said
"Silver?" I said as I opened my eyes
"Hey Howler heard you were here and thought I should come by since pony doctors know nothing.
"But last time I saw you." I said as I tried to get up but ended up falling back on the bed
"Was at the orphanage well I was adopted by two mares named Lyra and Bon Bon." She said
"What did you give I feel." I started to say
"Bloodthirsty well duh it was pony blood." Silver said I could now see her clearly she had red eyes, a silver coat, and her mane was dark grey. She was
"Where did you get that?" I asked
"There's a blood bank downstairs anyways you should be healed in a few days you just needed some blood is all." She said
"So how do you like it?" I asked
"Lyra and Bon Bon are great I haven't told them yet that I'm a werewolf." She replied
"Maybe you should." I said
"Well how about you after all I'm smelling another girl on you and Princess Twilight Sparkle." Silver said
"Twilight adopted me I guess and that other girl is also a werewolf and is right behind you." I said as Phenia walked in
"Hey who are you?" She asked
"My name is Silver." Silver replied
"How did you know that would help?" Phenia asked
"He's a werewolf we need blood and meat to heal and pony's don't understand that." Silver said
"How do you know him?" She asked
"Simple Howler and I used to live together." Silver replied
"Howler your eyes are red." Twilight said
"OH almost forgot Howler here this thing back." Silver said as she pulled out a black mp3 player and headphones from her pocket.
"You can keep it." I said
"Well it is yours so it’s only right anyways I need to go check on Lyra and Bon Bon see ya around Howler." Silver said before leaving
"Fancy Pants, why are you here?" I heard rarity ask as she walked in with some dressed up unicorn.
"Twilight, we heard and why is he alive?" Her mom asked as she walked in
"Why do you sound so disappointed?" I asked
"Well you see we were already planning your funeral." Celestia said
"Whatever I need something bloody to eat." I said as got out of the bed
I walked out of the door my body was sore but I managed to make my way out of the hospital. I began to make my way to the forest when I heard somepony call out from behind me.
"Howler you’re okay?" Spike asked
"But how?" Sweetiebelle asked
"You don’t want to now." I said
"Why?" Spike asked
"Because I've tasted pony blood and it was by far the greatest thing I've ever tasted." I said
"Howler wait up." Silver called out she had transformed and was wearing a bandana around her neck.
"What's that for?" I asked
"So Lyra and Bon Bon know its me." She replied
We entered the forest, we tracked down a herd of deer and killed three of them Silver ate half of one and I ate the rest. The next day I had to go back to school after twilight had discussed the situation with Cheerilee making today's lesson about werewolves. I was so thrilled a day of re learning and humiliation what more could one ask for at school just kidding today is going suck. I entered the classroom along with Spike who Twilight sent to look after me; the class just stared at me until Cheerilee spoke up
'"Now class this is Howler he is the same he just is a werewolf and is having trouble changing back to normal pony." Cheerilee said and the class bursted out
"Wow wolf buy really is a freak." Snips said
'Shut up Snips or else." I said
"Or else what" You wouldn't lay a fingure on us." Diamond tiara said
"Maybe not a fingure but how about my teeth ripping you limp from limb then tearing your guts out followed by you right lung and finally your heart." I
"Howler that’s enough now take your seat." Cheerilee said
It was lunch time before anything interesting happened; I was sitting alone drinking a bottle of blood that Silver had given me earlier since getting bloody meat in the school would probably traumatize somepony. What she had given me to drink was pony's blood, and knowing her she probably had a lot more of this stuff lying around. So I was drinking and Sweetiebelle and her friends walked over.
"Whatcha drinkin?" Applebloom asked
"Blood." I replied
"What does it taste like?" Sweetiebelle asked
"Like blood." I responded
Soon the day was over and I headed back to the library where twilight was talking to Rarity and the white unicorn from the hospital. I walked in
"With you here and the princesses still recovering who is going to lead Equestria?" rarity asked
"I will I leave tomorrow morning." Twilight said as she noticed me
"Anyways so Sweetiebelle can stay here tonight?" Rarity asked
'I don’t see why not." Twilight said great I thought now I have to either sleep in the same bed as her or in Spike's.
Rarity and the unicorn left, Twilight walked over to me and kneeled down so she could look me in the eyes.
"Than Celestia you're alive." She said as she hugged onto me.
Soon we all headed to bed, I was sleeping on the floor Sweetiebelle in my bed and Spike in his. Twilight walked upstairs it was in the middle of the night and climbed into her bed. She gestured for me to get in the bed with her, I did and she wrapped her arm around me as I laid on my stomach beside her and fell asleep.
Three hours later we were woken up by the sounds of a colt and mare screaming. We looked out the window it was Rarity and the unicorn, they were running whatever it was that had startled them it must have been awkward because Rarity was only wearing underwear and nothing covering her chest along with the unicorn it was a site I wanted to erase from my head, I looked closer to what was chasing them it was the wolf, they reached our door and started banging on it and yelling. Twilight ran down and let them in, Spike couldn't stop staring and I opened the window and pounced on the wolf. I had him pinned to the ground with my claws at his throat.
"Who are you?" I asked resisting the urge to slice his throat.
"A hunter." He replied
"What?" I asked
"Let me explain over the years I have killed one of almost every animal in Equestria and few compare to the flavor of pony flesh, but you see I want to know which out of the four pony species taste best unicorn, alicorn, Pegasus, or earth pony and more importantly what age." He replied
"Why attack me?" I asked this guy was nuts I thought.
"Werewolf is by far the greatest delicacy I have ever had and seeing how that one kept me from eating her Aunt I picked up your scent from her and followed it. I figured if I couldn't try earth pony werewolf would be the next best thing. You know what I'm talking about you've tasted the blood of a pony." He said who was he referring to as that one, crap I figured it out Phenia.
"That was to help me heal." I replied
"Tell me what are you going to do now after all your little girlfriend Phenia is almost dead, will you kill me or save her?" He asked
"You're bluffing." I said it was easy to tell that he was lying he had gone after Rarity and Phenia lived across town.
"You surprise me your senses are sharper than mine maybe we can help each other." He offered
"Never." I said helping him would only land me in trouble with Celestia which was not something I wanted to do.
"To bad then next time I see you I'll be eating your dead carcass." He said before turning into mist and disappearing.
"Howler, come back inside." Twilight said and I did the spell he used to escape bugged me, I didn;t think it was possible to use magic when I was in my wolf form.
"Twilight it was awful." Rarity said she trembling in the arms of the unicorn.
"Twilight I think we should have everyone stay here until that thing is dead." I said thinking of what that wolf had planned.
"Why Howler?" Twilight asked
"He wants to know what pony tastes best and he won't stop the best option at this point is to have everyone stay together." I replied
"I guess that makes sense." Twilight said as spike wrote several letters and sent them.
"Here are some clothes Rarity." Twilight said as she handed her some of her clothes while Rarity made clothes for the unicorn.
Around an hour later Rainbowdash, Scootaloo, Applejack and her family, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie arrived and Rarity and the unicorn were fully dressed.
"SLUMBER PARTY!!!!!" Pinkie yelled
"What?" Spike and I said at the same time
"We can talk about boys and have pillow fights oh this is going to be so fun." Pinkie squealed
"No Pinkie we are all going to Canterlot while Celestia and Luna are recovering." Twilight said
'Twi it's the middle of the night." Applejack said
"And that wolf came after me and Fancy Pants." Rarity said as she clinged onto the unicorn.
"And Howler found out that the wolf wants to eat us so it would be best if we left town." Twilight replied and we left to the train station.
"Okay slumber party at the castle yay." Pinkie yelled as we packed our stuff and got on the train.
"Howler, are you alright?" Twilight asked I was lying down and I had my head on her lap.
"So miss Twilight where did you get this dog?" Granny Smith asked
"Well I adopted him actually though." Twilight began to say before Applejack cut her off
"Granny shouldn't you be getting some sleep?" Applejack said
"I suppose you're right." Granny Smith replied as she went to bed
"Twilight is there something wrong with Howler he hasn't spoken since we got on?" Rarity asked
"I guess he's just tired is all." Twilight said I fell asleep soon after she said that I fell asleep.
"Howler wake up we're here." Twilight said as she got me up.
"I'm up." I replied
"There might be something in the Canterlot library on how to turn you back to normal." Twilight said
"That would be nice." Spike Replied suprisingly
We walked to the castle, with an escort of several guards. It was early in the morning the sun was rising. We entered the castle and Twilight showed everyone to their rooms.
"Twilight shouldn't we have Howler stay with the kids?" Rarity asked
"I thought I was going to stay with you and Fancy Pants?" Sweetiebelle asked as she entered the room
"First things first Rarity changing Howler back." Twilight said
"Well I've found you again." The dark wolf said as he laid down on a window seal
"Why are you here?" Twilight asked I growled at him and prepared myself for a fight.
"There is a certain thrill to hunt something that can fight back but sometimes the most thrilling meal is the one who you can torture like that little sweet tasting unicorn filly." He said as he licked his lips
"Sweetiebelle?" Rarity said as she ran into the room.
"Hmm that orange Pegasus was also delicious hard to get rid of the armor though." He said
"Flash Sentry." Twilight ran off leaving me with the wolf
"Now that that’s taken care of." He said as he shut the doors and locked them
"HEY LET US OUT OF HERE!" Sweetiebelle yelled it made sense that it was a trap in reality.
"Howler I feel I should show what I did to a young pink and a young silver werewolf they are right behind you." He said I turned around they were right behind me, Phenia was bleeding from her mouth, she had bite marks on her tail, shoulders, and legs. She had gashes on her face and back, along with hole that went through chest and out her back, there was also a chuck of meat missing from her side. Silver had similar injuries but she seemed to have received worse, her shoulder bone was sticking out, and her leg was turned in awkwardly. They were both in a pool of blood.
"You bastard." I screamed in anger as I jumped at him, he shot me with a magic blast I struggled to get up it was clear I wasn't going to win without magic.
"You know they tasted great it’s a shame I won’t be able to finish them like I will Twilight." He said as he vanished into black mist.
"Howler what's going on?" Spike asked
"Hospital now." I said quickly as I looked over at them
"This is getting out of hand." Spike said as he ran off Spike was right this needed to end now.
Soon after he did doctors came and took them away. I got back to feet and followed them to the hospital. They were taken to the emergency room and I wasn’t allowed to enter, Sweetiebelle and Applebloom soon joined me.
'Are ya alright Howler?" Applebloom asked
"No." I said
"Well is there anything we could do?" Sweetiebelle asked
"No" I said
"Howler." Applebloom muttered as I walked out
The next day I was back at the hospital Phenia and Silver were awake; I entered the room and walked over to them. They were still in their wolf forms and were hooked up to several medical machines; their injuries made mine look small. The doctor told me that they would be able to leave within the month but at the rate things are going we wouldn;t have a month.
"Howler." Silver said weakly as she pained to raise her head
"Hey how are ya doing?" I asked
"Fine." She replied.
"What about you?" I asked
"I'm fine Howler." Phenia replied
"Where are you going?" Silver asked as I made my way to the door.
"Just for a walk is all I'll be back later." I replied in truth though I was wanting blood.
I walked back to the sculpture garden at the castle, I was all alone. I looked at each sculpture and tried to figure out what each one meant but with no luck. A pony crept up behind me, I turned around he was armed with six flint lock pistols, a crossbow, knives, a sword, and a percussion rifle. His mane was dark as well as his coat; he was ripped with muscles, and was wearing a black shirt and cargo pants. I stepped back and prepared for the worst.
"Now the hunter becomes the hunted Howler." he said
"You're the." I started to say but he cut me off.
"The dark wolf yes I'll give you a five second head start." he said as he raised his rifle I turned around and ran as fast as I could towards the labyrinth when a loud bang went off the bullet hit the hedge next to me.
I ran as fast as I could taking a mix of left and right turns whenever possible and soon I was lost. I hoped I had lost him and that’s when I heard him call out I was scared I didn’tk now what to do I was outmatched and more importantly inexpierenced the other times I had fought him I was being controled by my insticts but now I was to afraid to fight him.
"Hey Howler I should tell you Twilight was delicious." He taunted, there was no he got to her, I thought
I heard another loud bang once again the shot missed and I took off. Soon I made a mistake and hit a dead end, I turned around and he was right there. He raised his gun and fired he missed and I ran at him, sidestepped and got passed, I headed back the way I came. I soon lost him as well as myself; I could tell I was close to the castle because I could hear ponies on the other side of the hedge.
"Princess Twilight what do you want us to do?" A guard asked
"Go in there and find Howler Two of you will go with me along with each of my friends and any volunteers." Twilight stated
"There you are." I heard as another loud bang went off, it glanced my shoulder and I continued to run.
I kept running further and further away from the castle and deeper into the maze. In the end I knew it was hopeless eventually I would have to fight him but the least I could do was have him waste his ammo. But soon I hit a wall and turned around and ran back towards the castle. He was right behind me and raised his crossbow, I jumped on him and grabbed it with my teeth and shattered it. I continued to run until there was nowhere else to go. I hit a dead end and he cut me off from leaving and drew his sword.
"I feel like I should tell you before you die that the reason your mother left you was because of me." He said
"What?" I whimpered the rage that I had felt earlier began to return to me.
"Howler I'm your father and you're the last great prey I have left to hunt in Equestria, your mother didn't like it so I left and when I came back I tried to take you by force. She stopped me and that’s why she left you at that orphanage." He said
"Shut up." I yelled as I rammed him sending flying back into the hedge and I ran away.
"Howler is that you?" I heard Twilight say I turned around it was her. That’s when three loud bangs went off seconds apart each bullet hit me in my front left leg.
"Game over Howler." He said as he raised his sword over my head. I couldn't move there was a loud clang of metal Flash had stopped the sword with his.
"Flash." I said I was confused to many things were flying through my head at the moment.
"Hey kid." he replied as he pushed the dark pony wolf back.
"Howler." Twilight said as she ran over to me as I looked over and flash had stabbed the pony he was on the ground bleeding out
"Why do you even care about that bastard child?" He asked
"Because he deserves a mother." Twilight replied
"Well then what about you guard?" He asked
"That’s none of your concern." Flash replied
"When I come back all of you will die a slow death. Now spell release" He said and I was changed back into a pony I still had my clothes from Hearths Warming on and my injuries healed and finally he vanished in black mist
"Howler are you alright?" Twilight asked as she hugged me tightly
"I'm fine." I said
Good now let's get out of here." Flash said as Twilight shot a beam of magic in the air and teleported us to the start of the maze. Where the others were waiting for us.
"Howler you’re a pony." Sweetiebelle leaped for joy
"Yeah I guess so" I said
"Why do you sound so depressed?" Pinkie asked
"Am I sorry didn’t mean to." I said nervously
"We need to throw a birthday party for Howler." Pinkie said A party really now of all times, I thought.
"Pinkie now is hardly the time." Twilight protested
"Well now that's over can we go back to dinner I'm starving." Rainbowdash said
"Yes we can." Twilight said as one of the medics wrapped my arm.
That night I found myself with Twilight in her room, Flash had just left, and I was still shaken up about what had happened in the maze. Twilight had taken notice to this and had made several attempts to try and comfort me, but I hadn't spoken since I got out of the maze. I had never been so afraid in my life as I had been in the labryinth, I had almost died by the hand of someone who claimed to be my father, and I was still debating if he was telling the truth or not.
Twilight." I said
"Yes Howler." Twilight said
"Thank you for helping me." I said
"Howler if you ever want to talk about what had happened in the maze just know I will be here for you." Twilight said as a guard rushed in
"Princess Twilight it's Princess Cadence and Shining Armor they were attacked by some form of large black wolf the Crystal Empire needs a leader." he said
"What?" Twilight said
"But then who will lead Equestria?" I asked
"What about Spectra and we can have one of the royal advisors to the princesses help her." The guard suggested
"Alright Howler I need you to stay here and guard Spectra." Twilight said
Weeks later and nothing had changed the Crystal Empire and Equestria were on high alert, the wolf hadn't been captured yet, and no one had fully recovered. More and More ponies began to fall like Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbowdash to name a few in fact all of Twilight's friends and family had been attacked. The princesses' condition had worsened as if they were poisoned but the doctors can't seem to find anything.
Chapter 5 When Bloodo Rains
I was alone Spectra had been taken under the royal guards protection. Phenia and silver had also been getting worse. I had a lot of free time on my hands and had been practicing my magic skills but without a teacher I hadn't gotten any better. A guard ran past me and to the room that Spectra was in.
"Your highness its Princess Twilight and the rest of the political leaders in the Crystal Empire and Equestria they had all succumbed to the same form of attacks the Crystal Empire are without… Spectra MEDIC!!!!!" the guard yelled
I saw her being carried out along with all of her guards, now what do I do I thought. I had to do something now Equestria and the crystal Empire were without leaders. I ran back to the hospital they had put everyone in one room, I walked in Sweetiebelle was sleeping next to Rarity; I sat down next to Twilight.
"Howler is that you how are everything?" She asked I didn’t have the heart to tell her what had happened to Spectra but before I could speak she was wheeled in.
"Howler is there anyone else?" Celestia asked I shook my head.
"So who is going to lead Equestria?" Luna asked
"I don't know." Celestia said
"Well I see that I can now speak to all of you." A voice said as the doctors fell over dead
"What?" I said as I turned around
"You see no I can make you watch as I spill all of your guts out in one place." he said as he walked over to Sweetiebelle who was crying in Rarity’s arms.
"Leave her alone." I said
"Well then Howler Lulamoon you volunteer to be first?" He asked
"What is your name and how do you know Howler?" Phenia asked
"My name is Bloodmoon; I guess you could say I’ve had my eye on him for since he started living with Twilight." He replied, then it hit me the growling and the claws mark on the tree, it was him.
"Then why are you doing this?" Luna asked
"Simple He is the only one who has a bloodlust that rivals mine, the sooner I get rid of him the sooner I get to see if the elements of
"Leave Howler alone." Twilight said as he approached me
"Fine alicorn first." He said as he pressed his claws into Twilight's right arm and leg.
"Howler do something!" Silver said
"You know what maybe I should just kill the threat first, and then kill you." he said as he grabbed me by the throat. He was choking me I
He then grabbed twilight and pinned her against the wall, he pushed his hand up her shirt and started to kiss her. She started to cry and Flash and Rainbowdash were fighting to move and stop him. I was getting angry, I could taste his blood on my lips, I liked it, and I wanted to devour his flesh. I launched myself at him and bit into the arm that he was using to hold Twilight it claim clean off and Twilight fell to the floor. Blood moon was taken back he staggered around as his arm shot blood out everywhere. I turned around his blood was stained on my teeth and mouth. I snarled and growled, showed my teeth and ran at him again. I jumped for his throat with his other arm he grabbed me and threw me into the wall; I got up and bit into his leg it came off to. He began to try and craw towards the door, I couldn't stop myself I walked over to him and grabbed him by neck. I slowly bit down; I could feel his neck breaking and his throat ripping through my teeth. He was coughing up blood, I kept going until Twilight grabbed into me.
"Howler you can stop now." She said I let go of him and the bloodlust and anger ceased to be. Bloodmoon was on the ground bleeding out; blood was splattered on the walls of the room.
"Howler calm down." Twilight said as she hugged onto me and patted my head.
"Howler was that necessary?" Rarity asked as she hugged a crying Sweetiebelle.
"Howler?" Twilight said I was still concentrating on the dying pony.
"Howler are you alright?" Silver asked as the body was moved.
"Well that was something. Spike said
The rest of the day was pretty quiet no one wanted to speak up, soon most everyone was asleep the only ones up were me and Twilight. She hadn’t let go of me since I killed Bloodmoon, I am guessing she thought I felt bad for killing Bloodmoon but I didn't I was glad to be the one who killed him soon I fell asleep in her arms. I had my eyes shut in the morning and was trying to go back to sleep. I began to pick up on pieces of their conversation as each of them began to wake up.
"He still seems peaceful while sleeping." Flash said
"I wonder what got into him yesterday." Twilight said
"It was bloodlust." Silver said
"What do you know about him I mean you show up and act like you’ve known him forever." Phenia said
"What’s your problem?" Silver asked
"That you trying to take him away from me." Phenia said
"You mean me." Spectra said
"You two stop Howler and grew up together he is practically my brother." Silver said
"How is he twilight?" Fluttershy asked
"He seems to be fine." Twilight said
"Excuse me Princesses Luna and Celestia you all are free to go." The doctor said
'What are we going to do with him?" Flash asked
"What do you mean Flash?" Twilight asked
"Well Twilight after you and Howler fell asleep last night we talked about it and we think it might be best if you gave Howler up for
"What you can't be serious." Twilight said as her grip on me tightened
"Howler has proven himself to be a threat what if loses control Twilight?" Flash asked
"Who's idea was it?" Twilight asked
"It was mine." Princess Celestia said
"But Princess Celestia Howler just saved our lives twice I might add we can’t just turn our backs on him." Twilight said
"Sorry but my descion is final you will have to give him up." Celestia said
"It's not your choice or any of yours why do you think I would give him up after he ran away for a month then all of this stuff happened what makes you think it’s for the best?" Twilight asked
"Twilight I've seen bonds like this they never last we are doing this for your own good." Luna said
"But I'm his...” Twilight paused
"His mother Twilight you will never be his mother face it he will never see you as that." Rainbowdash said
"Then what do you want for him to go back living on his own we all saw how pitiful he was." Twilight said
"And he has changed he will be placed in a foster home." Celestia said
"You morons Howler is...” Twilight began to take everything into consideration
"Twilight you've become too attached to him is all." Celestia said as Twilight loosened her grip
"I understand I'm sorry for my behavior." twilight said as two guards grabbed me
"Buck off." I said
"Excuse me?" Celestia said
"I said buck off what makes you so high and mighty Celestia you have no idea what it’s like to be me or Twilight so what makes you
"Why you little brat. Do you have any idea who you are talking to" Celestia said
"Yeah a blind pony who only thinks about herself and never anypony else." I said
"You say that as if it’s true you lower class uncivilized pathetic bastard werewolf." Celestia said
"Because it is." I said
"Howler you are starting a fight you cannot win." Celestia said
"What are you going to do turn me to stone like discord or banish me to the moon like Luna?" I taunted
"Maybe I will." Celestia threatened
"Go ahead then you pathetic excuse for a leader." I said
"Howler I'm warning you." Celestia said
"The only thing you could ever do to me would be putting all of my hopeless dreams to rest." I said
"Howler I swear I will order your execution." Celestia said
"GO AHEAD THEN!" I YELLED
"Howler enough Celestia is right." Twilight said
"What?" I said
"I said enough Celestia is right I'm not your mother and I can never be, to me you will always be a lower class werewolf who will never
"Fine then." I said as I ran away far from the hospital
"Howler wait." Phenia called out
"Hurts doesn't kid." A voice said from behind me it was discord
"I’m not in the mood." I said
"What if I told you the reason I took over Equestria was because Luna and Celestia did the same thing to me, you see we were all
"I'm through with ponies and anyone associated with them." I said as I ran off
I ran for what seemed to be forever until I finally passed out. When I woke up I was in the middle of a forest, I was alone, I made a final decision to go back to the burned down mansion and make a new home where my old one had disappeared. I walked back to Ponyville it took several days but I finally made it, I found some clothes and changed back into a pony. I had also found some nails and a hammer, other than that I was on my own for tools and supplies. I went into the forest and found some sticks and a tarp. I made a cube out of the sticks and laid the tarp over it. It wasn't much but it would work for now. The next day I headed to school, I sat down in my usual spot and Sweetiebelle sat down next to me.
"Howler we were worried." Sweetiebelle said
"Shut up inferior species." I said
"What?" Sweetiebelle asked
"I said shut up I hate everypony." I said
"I thought we were friends?" Sweetiebelle said on the verge of crying
"We aren't and we will never be." I said and she started to cry
"Suck it up baby." I said as Scootaloo and Applebloom walked over to see what was going on
"Sweetiebelle what’s wrong?" Scootaloo asked as I got up and left.
"Howler what did you do?" Applebloom asked
"Told her the truth now out of my way." I said
"No not until you apologize." Applebloom said
"I said move." I said as I pushed her into Scootaloo and Sweetiebelle sending them into the front of the classroom each one of the
"HOWLER WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU NOW COME OVER HERE AND APOLOGIZE AND AFTER THAT YOU CAN COME TO DETENTION AFTER SCHOOL" Miss Cheerilee yelled
"Apologizing does nothing." I said as I began to walk out of the school
"Howler I will call Twilight about this." Cheerilee said
"Go ahead she doesn’t care about me." I said as I slammed the class room door.
I walked throughout the town spreading hate and misery wherever I went it made me sick to see all the happy fillies with their families. Life was never fair to me, I just wanted to roll over and die, but I wanted to take as many ponies as possible with me. It was a demonic thought and in the end it would only prove nothing. I wanted a way out of this world badly.
Cheerilee forced me to stay after school the next day and Rarity, Rainbowdash, Applejack and Twilight were all there along with Sweetiebelle, Scootaloo, and Applebloom. Cheerilee wanted to get to the bottom of what was going on and for me to apologize to Sweetiebelle, Scootaloo, and Applebloom.
"Alright now let’s begin." Cheerilee said
"Now Howler what do you think when I say the word family." Cheerilee asked
"How is this relative to the situation?" I asked
"Because this seems to be a mental state and a dangerous one at that now answer the question." Cheerilee said I rolled my eyes
"A false hope a dream that will eventually shrivel up and die just like everyone in this room." I said
"Now when I say pony?" Cheerilee asked
"An inferior species that only resembles a virus that feeds on life and will never be cured." I replied
"Now when I say alicorn?" Cheerilee asked
"A bloodbath with Celestia's head on the tip of a spear." I said
"That wasn't the response I was thinking of." Cheerilee said
"Can I go now?" I asked
"No Howler your behavior around town has been too troublesome we need to figure out what is going on and end this now." Cheerilee said
"To bad I'm leaving." I said and Twilight put a magic barrier on the door I stopped
"Why do you even care?" I asked
"Howler you hurt several ponies in class." Cheerilee said
"SO what there are around a billion more to replace them?" I said
"Howler that isn’t the point, this is to help you." Cheerilee said
"like you have any idea what is wrong with me." I said
"Howler is this about what Celestia and I said?" Twilight asked
"No it's about how death is the only relief I will ever get." I said
"Relief from what?" twilight asked
"From everypony who ever thought to call me a friend or family only to turn their back on me because there too afraid to stand up for someone else, while in a werewolf pack we live by a code we stick together and put our lives on the lines for each other even if it means
"Do you honestly think death is the answer?" Rainbowdash asked
"Yes I do." I said
"Howler that isn’t going to help you, how about you come back home with me." Twilight said
"Why so can turn me down when I need you the most just like Trixie." I said as I punched the barrier and it shattered I ran off to the only place I could myself a large cliff towards the end of the forest.
I ran as fast as I could Twilight fly after me along with her friends; I was on the ledge when they caught up to me. I was debating in my head whether or not it was worth it.
"Howler I’m begging you don’t do this." Twilight said
"Why?" I asked
"Because you’re right it wasn't fair for me to give in to Celestia so easily that’s not what being family is about I should have stood up for you." Twilight said
"How can I ever trust you anymore?" I asked
"She was on your side Howler it was our fault we were scared that you were going to become like Blood Moon if you’re going to be mad
"Howler look I'm sorry." Twilight said
"We are to." Rarity said as the ground began to give out from underneath me.
"HOWLER!" Twilight yelled as I began to fall
I braced myself for the impact, I was about to hit the bottom when I found myself in the air being held by somepony I looked up it was Flash.
"Kid next time choose a hole that isn’t this deep." He said
"Funny I'll keep that in mind." I said
"Howler are you alight." Twilight asked
"Twilight what is the meaning of this?" Celestia asked as she flew down and Flash dropped me at the top
'Celestia Howler needs me like I need him and nothing you can say will change that." Twilight said
"Well then I'm sorry to say this, guard’s take Howler far away, place him in an orphanage, and make sure Twilight will never find him."
“NO!” Twilight yelled in defiance of her former teacher.
“Twilight!” Celestia was awe struck
“I will not allow you to do this to me again.” Twilight said as two guards grabbed me.
“You are oblivious to why I have to do this. Like it or not he is not a pony but a feral beast you will lose control and attack other ponies
I let them take me to the train stop, I didn’t try to fight them instead I let them take me away. I began to ponder if Celestia was right about me that I was just some beast that would threaten everypony. Even though Twilight didn’t seem to think that was going to happen, I assumed Celestia knew something she was letting anypony know about. I was ready to let them take me away but something else happened the guards parted as exited the train to Ponyville and I heard a voice I hadn’t heard in a long time. I looked towards the alicorn of the moon and the white wolfish unicorn filly next to her.
“Howler I would like you to be one of my personal students.” She asked and the filly ducked behind her.
“Sure.” I said
“Excellent guards you may inform my sister that I have found my other student and we can quiet with the exams.” Luna said
“Why me?” I asked
“You are a creature of the night with untapped magic abilities I was in need of another student and you fit the description.” Luna said
I moved into a school dorm room in Ponyville with the filly, we never talked to each other but I think this was better than the orphanage at least for now.
Chapter 1 Trying to fix a broken bond
Twilight
The name haunts me, to think I actually began to trust ponies was ridiculous. Why did I say ponies aren’t I Howler a pony to? No I lost the right to call myself that a month ago, after I left Twilight my transformation drastically sped up. I cover myself with a torn hooded poncho that I could barely keep on, I had decided to remain a wolf for the rest of my life, I decided to leave my pony half to die. When I transformed it was different than from before, my transformation resembled more of a wolf now, I no longer had large hands with claws instead I had pawls, I now could only stand on four legs, and my senses were sharper. The funny part was I didn’t want to go back. The ponies around town started to call me “The Wendigo” of course I didn’t think they knew what a wendigo actually looked like. Even if it had only been a month they had forgotten about me, all except Discord who constantly tries to get on my nerves.
Today was heart’s warming eve so everypony was celebrating with their families except for me I walked into town. Most ponies thought I was some sort of large stray dog. I didn’t care though it was the only time I could go into town without being recognized. I continued to Sugar Cube Corner I looked into the window. Twilight, Pinkie, Rarity, Rainbowdash, Applejack, Fluttershy, Spike, Sweetiebelle, Scootaloo, and Applebloom were all celebrating. Even Phenia was their along with their families and discord, I continued my walk of solitude wishing I could be care free as well but the truth was we were running out of time in this winter wonderland. I had no pack, no friends, and no family I was truly alone in this unforgiving world.
I continued walking until I heard cries of terror arise from Sugar Cube Corner, I turned around and against my better judgment went to help. When I arrived on the scene there was broken glass and blood on the floor. I looked around until I found it the source of the chaos, a large black leech like creature but it had the mouth of a lamprey, six large mantis legs that it was walking around on, and was outlined in a bright purple. It was about as big as my arm and was going after the ponies who were partying. They were now on top of tables trembling with fear.
It turned its attention to me, I stood up on my hind legs I was now as tall as Twilight. The insect jumped, I swatted it out of the air, went back on all four walked over and gutted it. I recognized the bug it was invasive but it came when a black mist that begun to fill the forest, I also knew that they were a parasite draining an animal dry of blood in an hour or so.
“Howler?” Phenia said with a confused look on her face. I looked over my shoulder at her and took off my hood.
“Howler my fur pal how’s it hangin.” Discord said to the confused looks of everypony.
“You said you didn’t know where he went.” Fluttershy said
“Well you say that was he’s request not mine.” Discord said as I started towards the door.
“Wait why would you want that Howler?” Sweetiebelle asked, I stopped and remained silent.
“You know Howler your always welcome here.” Pinkie said
“I have more important things to do than to explain where I’ve been and why I had Discord keep my location a secret to
“Like what?” Phenia shot back at me.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” I said before twilight out a magic barrier up in front of the door.
“That’s how you’re going to play it.” I said
“Yeah until we get answers I know what we did was wrong but that’s no reason to act like this.” Twilight said
“Fine I can stay here all day and not say a word.” I said as I walked over to the far corner and sat down, sort of like a dog.
“Fine then you won’t be leaving.” Twilight said.
“Twilight, just be thankful he isn’t dead.” Her mother said
“But he still hates all of us.” Twilight said I could tell she was upset.
“I don’t get it, he can change back into a pony yet he prefers to stay a wolf.” Shining said to Cadence.
“Who cares the point is he is here now, the least we could do is try to make up for our past sins.” Cadence said
“It’s not that simple, this is Howler we’re talking about, normally he just shrugs things off like they’re nothing, what we did
“You can’t force Howler to forgive you that’s his choice.” Twilights mother said
“Howler, could at least show some courtesy and told us what was going on with him.” Rarity said
I grew hungry I hadn’t eaten in three days, I had to get out or someponies dinner. So I decided to speak up.
“I need out.” I said
“Talk and you will.” Twilight said
“How about if I eat somepony then will you let me out.: I said the room fell silent.
“I haven’t eaten in three days don’t test me.” I said
“Sorry but no.” Twilight said now everypony was nervous.
My stomach hurt to much I had to eat something, I pounced in Sweetiebelle’s general direction, Rarity snatched
“How dare you eat one of my mice.” Fluttershy said
“Haven’t you heard of the food chain.” I said
“Howler, why are you not using your pony form?” Phenia asked
“Why would I want to be that stupid colt who thought everything was going to turn out okay, when the very ponies he
“then how do we get that Howler back.” Phenia asked
“I’ve asked myself the same question several times everyday.” I said
“them whats the answer.” Phenia said
“There isn’t one, I’ve looked everywhere.” I said
“Look Howler we’re sorry for what we did and if there’s anyway we could make it up to you we would be more than happy to do it.” Twilight said
I couldn’t respond, I wanted to go back with them but I had been a wolf so long I didn’t know if I could or not.
“Go upstairs to the bath room and change, guests will be arriving shortly.” Twilight said I could tell there wasn’t any point in
I changed back into my pony dash wolfish self, and put on the clothes Twilight gave me. I could hear the guests
“Eww what is that thing?” A pony said with a very distinct manehattan accent.
“It looks like somepony ate it.” Cheerilee said
“Howler did.” Twilight said
“Wait he’s here?” Cadence asked
“Yeah he’s upstairs.” Twilight said
“Hey twilight who is this kid?” Somepony said
“Ohh he’s just a young werewolf I know.” Twilight said I could tell she was nervous.
I decided that it might be time for me to head downstairs, I began walking slowly to the steps. I walked
“Who is that kid?” The pony with the accent said
“That’s just Howler.” Applebloom said, I figured now would be the best time to make my escape while they were distracted.
I scanned the area for an escape route but all the exits were blocked by the crowd of the party. Then I
