The Nightmare and her three Knights

"Log entry 1081. Date: September 23, 1940. We have made substantial progress with the M.P.D., as we have finally discovered its source of power which appears to be souls. We ran out of... volunteers before it was filled but thanks to Doctor Maxis and his sacrifice, we are able to continue. It was grim but we knew it had to be done as he had become unstable with his... daughter. Nonetheless, the glass tubes have been filled and all that is left to do is flip the switch to complete the circuit and activate the device. Doctor Groph, if you will? (A grunt is heard and the sound of metal grating against metal resonates thought the air. Gasps and silence ensue in the following moments.) Dear God, is that... a unicorn with wings? Doctor Groph, please provide us with an overview of what exactly we're looking at! (Footsteps are heard some distance away walking towards the center of the recorder.)Subject appears to be a equine of an unknown species with a solid black coat, a horn, and, as you previously stated, wings. The wings, if they were to be unfolded, looks like they would span at least three meters and are, oddly, similar in nature to an avian's. The horn is roughly a half a foot long and looks as if it is naturally occurring, though if this is the case I suspect it grows in a fashion similar to a Rhino's.  The armor appears to be a metal of some sort, though I cannot tell if it painted or the color is natural. The subject's chest is expanding and collapsing at a regular rate, indicating it is alive but in a state of, ah, hibernation for a lack of a better term. How peculiar... Doctor Schuster, come see this!" (Footsteps are heard coming from the left of the recorder.) Do you see what I am seeing? I do, Doctor Gorph, and it appears to be some unknown form of static electricity!  I wonder if... Ergh! (A sound similar to static discharge is heard.) It so my suspicions were true!(An annoyed sigh is heard close to the recorder.) Doctor Schuster,I would have suspected this kind of... of... thing from your assistant! Next time, however, I suggest that you- Doctor Groph and Doctor Schuster, step away from the M.P.D. immediately! The subject has awakened! It- (Chocking is heard, followed by a popping sound and someone's body collapsing. Screams are heard following the pop.) Doctor Groph! (The speaker's voice goes from worried to angry.) Close the device! Close it now!"
