“Are we there yet?” Spike asked. He was sitting atop Twilight, as the two attempted to navigate their way through the Everfree Forest, back to their friends.
“I don’t know where we are…” Twilight’s eyes widened. “We’re lost!” Head hanging low, she sat down. “I never should’ve left my friends…”
“We can’t just give up.” Spike jumped off of Twilight’s back and walked towards a big tree. “Maybe if I get up there, I’ll be able to spot ‘em!”
Climbing up the tree, he sprinted to the ledge of a dead branch. Shoving vines aside, he smiled. “Well, what do ya know?”
Yet on the ground below, Twilight was so focused on watching Spike climb that she failed to watch the area around herself. The jet black vines all over the forest had focused their evil intentions on the alicorn, ready to feed on the raw magic resting within her body. She felt their presence as well, but before she could react they had already surrounded her.
“This isn’t good…” Twilight said to herself as she the vines crept closer. Her mind frantically tried to figure out something, anything to escape.

Twilight quickly tried to cast a spell, but before she could she was suddenly sprayed with a thick mist. A harsh cough left her and her magic became unresponsive, her horn only letting off small sparks. She realized that she’d been cut off from her magic. Gritting her teeth, Twilight tried to flare up her horn again, yet only took another face full of mist to show for it.
“Ah, stop… spraying me!” Twilight rasped as she covered her face.
Her legs felt wobbly and she struggled to stand as another blast hit her. Doing her best to stay up, she looked to the tree Spike climbed up in an effort to scream for help.

Twilight coughed repeatedly, heavily. Her body continued to lose its strength as she wobbled back and forth, trying to find an opening to escape through. Spike gasped as he spotted his friend being surrounded by multiple black claw-shaped vines, spraying mist onto her from all sides.
“Twilight!” Spike shouted as he debated jumping off the tree and fighting the vines himself. “I’ll save you!”
Staring down, Spike suddenly realized that helping her out alone wouldn’t end very well. Watching the vines spray the mist in her face, Spike knew he would need help, and thankfully, their friends weren’t very far away from their location. Running back to the middle of the tree, Spike grabbed onto it and quickly let himself slide down, breathing fire at any vines that attempted to grab him. Once he hit the bottom, Spike saw Twilight topple over in the corner of his eyes and knew he had no time to waste.
“Don’t worry, Twilight! I’ll get our friends!” Spike shouted over his shoulder as he ran in the direction of the others.
Twilight’s eyes opened wearily. She laid on the ground, slowly waking up. Her body felt weak and her mind hazy. The last thing she remembered was being attacked by plants and Spike yelling at her that he was getting help. There was no verbal reply, only more mist, but the plant was about to answer her question.
Something started to feel different. Twilight tried to open her eyes once more, and noticed the remaining mist slowly vaporizing. She frowned, as far as she could in her current situation anyway. Why is this mist pink?

“Listen here, you rabid rhododendrons!” she wearily heard Applejack shouting. “You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us!”
Twilight’s consciousness slowly came back to her, as the previously steady stream of numbing mist was interrupted. She groggily opened her eyes a bit, and saw her five friends standing before her, eager smiles plastered on their faces.
“Up here!” Rainbow Dash yelled, motioning the vines to follow her, and she dashed towards the sky.
In rapid succession of events, Twilight saw her friends playing with the black objects that had previously tormented her like they were toys. They jumped over them, tricked them into colliding with each other, and made them get tangled around trees. In the end, all that remained was a pile of four angry plants trying to get out of their tangled prison.
“Ta-da!” Pinkie shouted, presenting the finished work of art. Twilight’s eyes flashed as she saw the fifth plant, still running freely, speeding towards her oblivious pink friend. She tried to stand up and collected all the energy that remained inside of her, her horn lighting up. It released an energy blast, striking the claw dead-center just a moment before it could harm Pinkie, making it explode into all directions and fall to the ground.
Twilight took a small breath and let the light around her horn die. With painful movements she slowly stood up, and with half-opened eyes she looked at her friends assembling around her.
“I sure am glad you came looking for us,” Applejack said.
Twilight smiled. “Not as glad as I am that you found me.”
As quickly as her smile came, it disappeared as Twilight felt a strange sensation in her gut. Looking down at it, she wondered what was causing it to hurt slightly as she started to walk.
