The Elements of Disharmony

Chaos. It had been on Discord's mind lately. Of course, it always was, but recently, it was practically the only thing he could think of. There was just one problem: Discord promised his first, best, and only friend Fluttershy to not cause chaos. So, one day, he sat down thinking about what he could possibly do. At this point, he was considering just causing chaos anyway, when an idea came to him. A wonderful, awful idea.

"I'll just create my own Elements!" he though to himself, chuckling to himself. "Now they just need a name..." So then he sat and thought about what his elements would be called. "The Elements of Chaos! No, doesn't have the right sound to it. The Elements of Discord! Nope, too obvious. Ooh, how about The Elements of Disharmony?! Perfect!" And he knew just what they would be. "Lies will replace Honesty. Cruelty instead of Kindness. Greed, not Generosity. Pain in place of Laughter. Betrayal and not Loyalty. And, in place Magic... Evil." Now came the last part: finding his Element Bearers, summoning them to the same spot, and briefing them on their mission.

Discord soared above the world, in order to get a good look, and see if he could find six with the twisted souls he desired. As he searched, one soul caught his notice. A rather dishonest soul, too. He took a closer look. He saw a unicorn, with a mane that had the appearance of having been set on ablaze. She had a sun for a cutie mark. Her name fit her cutie mark, as well as the rest of her appearance. And she was also quite talented, and didn't like Twilight Sparkle or Celestia very much. "Well, well, well," Discord chuckled. "Congratulations, Sunset Shimmer. You get to be the first of my servants in spreading chaos." With a snap of his talons, Sunset disappeared, sent to another plane of existence, where Celestia had no way to stop his plans.

"Now for Cruelty," Discord said, and began looking. Then he spotted one. It was an especially nasty griffon. "Gilda, you're number two." She vanished as well. Then it was Greed's turn. Discord found dragons and lots and lots of dragons. But one in particular stood out. He was exceptionally grabby and selfish. and also had the largest hoard of dragons his age. Due in part to stealing from others. "You're numero tres, Garble."

It was now time to search for Pain. Interestingly enough, his search led him to Ponyville, to a very certain pink party pony. Or rather, another side of her. One who committed some rather graphic deaths. Of course, he could not have a Bearer of the Elements of Harmony working for him. But he could give this "Pinkamena Diane Pie" a body based on her appearance when she came out of hiding. Which is exactly what he did.

Now for Betrayal. Looking towards Cloudsdale, he saw a pegasus. She was like the Element of Loyalty in several ways, but there was one big difference: she cared only for herself and her ambitions. Discord added Lightning Dust to his collection. Now came the grand finale: Evil. Finding the right one for the job was easy. Evil was not very prevalent in the world today. And he found the right unicorn for the job. She was perfect. She hated the Bearers of the Elements of Harmony, especially Twilight. She wanted nothing more than for them to suffer groveling and mewling in the dirt at her hooves, begging for mercy. "You're my immediate favorite, Trixie," Discord laughed.

"And now, I have finished my work here. Now, then, time to inform my chosen ones that they're burdened with glorious purpose!" And with that, Discord vanished.
