Biscuit Bun was new to Ponyville. He used to live in Canterlot, but he didn’t have many friends because he felt like he didn’t really fit in with most of the other ponies there. He wanted to move to a new town and make some new friends. He was a green stallion with a black mane and a knack for bread making. His cutie mark was that of a sandwich. He had arrived in a beautiful town known as Ponyville. He was nearly finished packing his things into his new home when he saw a purple unicorn arriving at her home across the street. She seemed to be struggling with her saddlebag as it contained a large bundle of papers and quills. Although he was a bit shy, he felt the need to assist the small pony. He did move there to make some new friends in the first place and he knew it was the right thing to do. He walked up to her and asked, “Hi, um, would you like some help with those?” “Oh, sure I would definitely appreciate it if you don’t mind.”
Biscuit put on the saddlebag, which was actually quite heavy, as she opened the door to her home. “You can set them against the wall over there.” He set them down against a wall beside a desk which already had a mountain of papers sitting on it. “Boy, these sure are a lot of papers. You manage to use all of these?” He asked. “Haha, yeah I tend to write a lot. My assistant usually helps me with the shopping but he was out today,” she replied with a chuckle, “My name is Twilight Sparkle. And you are?” Biscuit couldn’t help but grin, “Oh, well my name is Biscuit Bun.” He looked around the room they were standing in, “I must say, this a pretty sweet home you got here. I didn't know you could actually live in a tree like this.”
He noticed the dozens of books located on the dozens of bookshelves. “It looks like you’re a bit of a reader huh?” Twilight suddenly zipped to him. She was right in front of his face, looking at him with gleaming eyes. “Oh I just LOVE reading. How about you huh? What are your favorite books?” Biscuit hesitated a bit. “Well, I’ve never been much of a reader actually.” Twilights eyes returned to normal. “You don’t like reading?” Biscuit was starting to regret what he said, “It’s not that I don’t like it,” he replied. “I’ve just never actually taken the time to sit there and read a book from beginning to end.” Twilight trotted to one of her bookshelves, “Well how about I recommend something then? What are you into fiction, non-fiction, science fiction, science non-fiction?” She asked while rummaging through an assorted number of books. “I’m not too sure, I guess I would probably enjoy the generic action adventure genre,” he replied. Twilight pulled out a single book from the bookshelf, “you’ll definitely love this book then.”
A book, floating by magic, fluttered over to Biscuit. “Daring Do and the Quest for the Sapphire Stone.” He read aloud. “I own the whole series.” Twilight said proudly. “Now, I want you to read this and I don’t want to see you until you’ve finished this book.” Biscuit was glancing through a few pages of the book, “Oh but I wouldn’t want to impose on taking this book.” Twilight was waving one hoof in the air,
“Please, please take it and read it. This is a library after all. You can just return it when you finish it. I’m not gonna take no for an answer.” Twilight was pushing Biscuit out the door, making sure he left with the book. “Alright cool, thanks a lot Twilight. I’ll be sure to bring this back A.S.A.P.”Twilight looked at Biscuit smiling “You’re welcome. And remember, to come back until you’ve finished that book.” She closed the door halfway but then poked her head out, “Oh, and thanks for helping out with the papers.” She closed the door. Biscuit examined the book for a while. He thought to himself, “Wouldn’t hurt to read just ONE book.”
The next morning, Twilight heard a knock at her door. She got up from her desk and opened the door. It was Biscuit. “Well hey there Biscuit.” She said. “Good morning Twilight. I hope I’m not bothering you this early in the morning?” He asked. “No, no, I was just writing some notes. What’s up?” Biscuit smiled “Oh not much,” he said, “I just wanted to return the book you lent me.” Twilight frowned. “Oh, you didn’t like it.” Twilight went to shelve the book back in its proper place. “I’m sorry I didn’t like it Twilight… but I LOVED IT!” Biscuit exclaimed. Twilight’s eyes gleamed bright again. “*GASP* REALLY!?”
Biscuit replied, “Yeah, what with all the action and the fighting and the death traps… there’s no way anypony can dislike Daring Do!” Biscuit began to twittle with his hooves. “Umm, would you mind if I borrowed some more of those books?” Twilight said, “Pfft, do I mind? I encourage it. Feel free to borrow any books from here. I have other more books along theses shelves you may be interested in checking out.” “Awww thanks Twilight.” Biscuit said happily. “You know, you’re a real good friend.” (And from that moment on, Biscuit and Twilight became very good friends.)
2 Hours later
Biscuit and Twilight had been sitting in the living room just chit chatting for about 2 hours now. “Well Twilight, thanks again for these books. And I’m sorry for keeping you so long. ” She replied, “Oh no that’s ok, I had fun too. But where are you off to now?” “Well,” Biscuit said, “considering this is only my second day here in Ponyville, I think I might head into town and just check out the sites. And I think I’ll apply to any places I find hiring. I gotta get a job going if I wanna hold onto that place across the street.”
“Already looking for a job huh? So what are your special talents Biscuit?” Twilight asked as she laid back in a sofa. “You see my cutie mark?” Biscuit turned around to show Twilight his cutie mark. She looked at it with a puzzled look. “A sandwich?” She asked unamused. Biscuit replied “Yup. You wanna know how I got it?” He asked. “Sure, I could listen to a good story that’s not coming from a book right now.” She said sounding a little bored. Biscuit cleared his throat. “It all started when I was just a filly.”
(Flashback to filly days)
“My big brother’s birthday was only a few days away. I really looked up to him. So when it was my job to be the pony to get him the birthday cake, I made it my top priority to get him the biggest, most awesome cake in all of Equestria. I put an order out from the local bakery to make a super awesome, 10 layer cake. On the day of his birthday I got up extra early so I could surprise him with the cake. I rushed over to the bakery to pick up the cake. I couldn’t wait. I was walking home with the giant thing on my back but I was so overly excited that I didn’t watch my step and SPLAT! I tripped and dropped the cake.”
“Well that doesn’t seem like a good story,” Twilight interrupted
“Don’t worry I’m getting there,” Biscuit explained
“I felt so horrible. I just sat at the curb staring at the destroyed cake lying on the sidewalk. I didn’t want to go back home without any kind of gift. But then it hit me. I could just make him something better than a cake. I still had about 2 hours left before my brother would get up anyways. So I rushed home and went straight into the kitchen. That morning when my brother got up, he found a giant tall sandwich with 10 layers of pure peanut butter, bologna, and lettuce(based off an actual sandwhich I made), mashed together into one super mega sandwich with toasted bread, topped with birthday candles. After he blew out the candles, he took one large bite from that insane sandwich. He turned to me and said, “You know what bro, this sandwich sure looked disgusting, but by Celestia this is the best sandwich I have ever tasted!” That made me feel so
happy and it was right after he said that, that my flank shined to reveal my sandwich cutie mark.”
(Flash-forward)
“Yo Twilight you’re looking a bit green.” Biscuit said. “You know that was a very interesting story, but I don’t see how that sandwich can taste so good.” She said. “Hey it may sound gross, but with my bread making skillz, I can make that sandwich taste better than anything you’ve ever tasted.” Biscuit replied. Twilight swallowed trying not to gag, “yeah, sure. You should get going if you wanna head into town before it gets late.” “Yeah you’re right. I’ll be on my way.” “Hey wait up,” Twilight stopped him. “If you’re really that good at bread making, you might want to check out Sugar Cube Corner.”
“Sugarcube Corner? Whats that?” Biscuit asked. “It’s the top of the line bakery here in Ponyville. I have a friend who works there named Pinkie Pie. She’s a bit of a handful but she’s very friendly. You might wanna stop by and show her your talent, or your “bread making skills” how you put it. Im going to meet up with her later, so, maybe I’ll see you there?” Biscuit replied, “Oh yeah, yeah, maybe, thanks, I’ll look into it,” Biscuit said.
Biscuit stepped out the door with the next 2 Daring Do sequels. He was excited to read them but first he wanted to drop them off at home before he head into town. He began to walk to his house across the street when he felt something bump into his face. He stumbled a bit. When he looked up to see what had hit him, all he saw was a blue stallion. The odd thing was this blue stallion was just staring straight ahead. He didn’t even seem to notice that somepony had bumped into him, or that he was just standing in front of Biscuit’s house. “Oh um pardon me sir.” *silence* Biscuit poked at his shoulder. *silence* Biscuit waved his hoof in front of the stallion’s eyes. *silence* The blue stallion just continued staring straight ahead. All Biscuit could tell was that this stallion’s eye was twitching a bit and his pupils looked real tiny. “Alright then.” Biscuit whispered as he continued heading towards his home.
Biscuit felt really comfortable in this town. It had been a while since he had that feeling. He was walking around, checking out the many different shops and boutiques and meeting new ponies. Everypony was very friendly to newcomers and he felt at ease. When he was about ready to go home, he remembered that Twilight had advised him to check out the local bakery. He walked around a bit until he found a building that looked like a giant cupcake. He read the sign. “Sugarcube Corner. “This must be it I suppose,” He walked inside. At first entry, he took a great liking to what he saw. There were many different kinds of pastries and breads in this shop. All the colors of the different sweets and pastries blended to make one real neat portrait.
As Biscuit was admiring the many different foods out on display, he heard a grunt coming from the back of the store, then the sound of someone munching. He went up to the counter and heard another grunt, “why can’t I get these right?! *Om nom nom nom*!” “Um excuse me?” Biscuit yelled over the counter. A sweet innocent voice replied to him, “Just a minute, I’ll be right with you… Darn *Om nom nom nom*!”
“I’m sorry to bother you but it’s just that Twilight Sparkle sent me. Is this a bad time?” Biscuit asked. “Oh so you’re a friend of Twilight’s. Feel free to come back here then. It’s never a bad time for Pinkie Pie… *Om nom nom nom*!” Biscuit stepped into the kitchen to find a pink curly mane pony mixing some batter in a large bowl. The entire kitchen was a disaster there was batter everywhere, on the walls, the ceiling, sprinkles all on the floor, the smell of burned cookies, and Pinkie herself was drenched in flour. On the counter were a lot of what seemed to be cookies, but they were all pure black, like a silhouette. “Um are you Pinkie Pie?” Biscuit asked. “Why yes, yes I am!” She said ecstatically. She let out a sticky hoof for Biscuit to shake. He hesitated, but shook it out of politeness. Pinkie Pie went back to her mixing, “I’m sorry I can’t welcome you properly but my Welcome Wagon is being repaired at the moment. I guess you could call it a “frosting accident”. Biscuit gave Pinkie a weird look and thought “frosting accident wonder what that means.” Biscuit laughed anyways and went back to listening to Pinkie.
“But I’m terribly busy at the moment anyways.” Biscuit looked at Pinkie, “It’s cool, shaking your hoof is welcome enough,” Biscuit said. “I assume you’re that new friend Twilight’s spoken about right?” Pinkie asked. “Um… yeah I would say that I’m her new friend. I just moved here yesterday,” Biscuit said. He was glad to hear that Twilight had already considered him a friend. “Well that just fine and dandy but do you mind coming back another time? I have to perfect a new recipe within the next hour and it’s not coming out right.”
As soon as Pinkie said that, the oven dinged. She pulled out a large tray of pure black crumb piles. “Shoot! They won’t like these either” She threw them all in her mouth and crunched on all of them in one bite. It looked like she had been eating all of the burned cookies and she looked like she was getting sick from it. She continued to her mixing. “Well what if I can help you out here?” Biscuit asked. “And how do you plan to do that?” Pinkie asked. “Let me see this recipe of yours,” Pinkie handed a piece of paper with the recipe to Biscuit. He looked it over. “Well you see, this here is a far advanced recipe. The batter has to be whipped at a very specific speed, for a very specific amount of time. Then it has to be baked at a very specific temperature for a very specific amount of time. The slightest interval change in these specific numbers can have drastic effects on the resulting bread.”
Biscuit looked at some scalded piles on the counter. “And it seems like that’s what happened. I don’t think you’re gonna be able to finish this in an hour.” Biscuit admitted. “But the party starts in less than an hour! What am I supposed to do NOW!?” Pinkie exclaimed with tearful eyes. Biscuit began to think. “Hmmm… what if I can help you make something a lot easier, and better?” Pinkie perked up “Really, what do you have in mind?” Pinkie asked as she wiped away a tear from her cheek.
1 hour later
“Oh my gosh, Biscuit! This sandwich is the BEST THING I HAVE EVER TASTED!” Pinkie Pie yelled into Biscuit’s ear while munching on a sandwich. A few crumbs from her mouth spat out inside his ear. “I told you it would taste good.” Biscuit said, getting the breadcrumbs out of his ear. “You saved my party Biscuit! Thank you!” “I just got mad skills bro,” Biscuit said, while brushing off his shoulder. “You know the party is gonna kick off soon, how about you stick around for a bit? I know Twilight is gonna come.” Pinkie asked. “Um… sure. I have some time to kill. I would really like to see Twilight’s face when she gets a taste of my sandwich anyways. Who’s the party for anyways?” Biscuit asked. “It’s only for my best buddy in the whole wide world, Gummy!” Pinkie pulled out a green, purple-eyed alligator with a party hat and pushed it in front of Biscuit’s face. “Oh… is it his birthday?” He asked nervously while backing up from the alligator. “Nope.” Pinkie replied “His birthday was 3 months ago. It’s his 3 month anniversary!” She then broke into a two minute song about Gummy’s anniversary party. Biscuit laughed.
After the song, a skinny yellow stallion with a short orange mane and blue mare whos mane resembled pink frosting walked in through the door. “Pinkie Pie, we’re back… WHAT THE!” They took notice of the huge mess in the kitchen. “What happened here Pinkie?!” They asked. “Ooh, I’m sorry Mr. and Mrs. Cake. I had bit of trouble trying to cook my special recipe here. But don’t worry I promise to clean up.” Pinkie Pie grabbed a broom. “It could’ve been worse anyhow.” Mr. and Mrs. Cake looked puzzled. “What do you mean worse?” “Well you see this guy? This here is Biscuit.” Biscuit waved shyly to Mr. and Mrs. Cake. “He showed up earlier and made these delicious sandwiches for me. Here try one.” Pinkie Pie handed a plate over to Mr. and Mrs. Cake. They took their own separate bites. “By Celestia, these are delicious!” Mr. Cake said. Mrs. Cake nodded in agreement. “Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Cake. Bread making has always kinda been my thing.” Biscuit said rubbing the back of his neck. “And if it weren’t for him, there would be a bigger mess in here and I’d still have no food for my party.” Pinkie Pie said while she shoved more sandwiches into her mouth. “So tell me Biscuit,” Mr. Cake asked while chewing. “If bread is your talent, can you make different kinds of breads this delicious?” “Um yeah, I believe I can sir.” Biscuit said. “Biscuit, how would you like a job as a bread maker here at Sugarcube Corner? We would gladly put your sandwich on the menu as long as you can supply them and make other kinds of bread.” Biscuit took up with a huge grin. “Oh my gosh I would love to sir! You won’t regret this.” Biscuit shook Mr. and Mrs. Cakes hooves quite vigorously due to his excitement. “HOORAY! NOW WE’RE BREAD BUDDIES!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed. Then she broke into a two minute song about her and Biscuit being employees.
Later at the party
At the party, Biscuit met the rest of Twilight’s friends. First, Twilight arrived with an owl, a purple dragon on her back, and a glamorous white pony named Rarity who arrived with a cat. All the animals rushed over to Gummy. Twilight introduced Biscuit and Rarity. “Ah so you must be the pony Twilight spoke so much about on the way here, pleasure.” Rarity said letting out her hoof. “The pleasure is all mine.” Biscuit said. He gave her hoof a gentle kiss. Rarity giggled, “Ooh a man of elegance, I like it.” “I’ve heard much info about you myself. Aren’t you the one who runs Carousel Boutique?” Rarity nodded. “So if I come by the boutique with some of my own customary designs, would you be able to make them for me?” Biscuit asked. “If you give me the time and the compensation, I would gladly make something out of it. I’m always looking for some new designs. And since we are now friends, at least I consider us friends, I believe I can arrange some sort of discount.” Rarity said. “Great, I’ll gladly come by very soon.”
Biscuit went over to the punch bowl. He saw a purple dragon sitting at the table with a red cup in his hand. Biscuit sat next to him. “I’m going to assume that you’re Twilights assistant right?” Both of them were sipping from red cups now. “I’m Twilight’s best assistant!" He exclaimed. “Much better than that Owlicious.” “Twilight mentioned she had an assistant this morning, but I didn’t see you at the library.” Biscuit asked. “That’s because I was taking one of my long luxury baths this morning.” Spike replied. “Really? I tried taking a shower this morning but I had no hot water for some reason.” Spike looked nervous. “Oh, um, that’s odd cuz I had hot water.” There was a brief pause, then spike said, “So I saw the way you kissed Rarity’s hoof over there.” “Relax dude, I won’t lay a hoof on her.” Spike began to look a bit nervous yet again, “Wh-what are you talking about?” Biscuit replied, “I can see the way you’re looking at her right now. And it’s what guys do when another dude has a thing for somepony.” Spike was somewhat relieved, “wow, thanks bro!” “No problem dude,” Biscuit let out his hoof for a Bro-hoof. Spike complied.
A few minutes later, an orange pony with a cowboy hat and a cyan pony with a rainbow mane arrived together. The orange pony arrived with a dog and the rainbow one arrived with a flying tortoise. “Woah! That’s pretty cool how you got him to fly like that.” Biscuit said as the tortoise flew over his head towards gummy. “Of course he’s cool. With that propeller, he’s almost as fast as me, ALMOST!” The cyan pony assured while admiring her hoof in front of her face. The orange pony laughed. “That there’s Rainbow Dash all right. Always lettin’ the new folk know how fast she is. I’m Applejack.” Biscuit shook her hand. Rainbow Dash said, “I am the fastest. Everypony knows that I’m the coolest, fastest, most awesomest pony in all of Cloudsdale.” She zipped away at light speed before Biscuit could shake her hoof. “Don’t mind her, she grows on you.” Applejack said as she trotted away. While Biscuit was standing there, a blue pony bumped into him from behind. “Oh, um sorry about that.”
It was the blue pony from that morning, except he didn’t have the twitch in his eye and he didn’t look so “ghostly.” “Hey you’re that pony from this morning.” Biscuit said. “You were standing in front of my house with a weird look on your face and you wouldn’t respond to anything I said.” The blue pony frowned. “I’m sorry, it’s kind of hard to explain but that was kind of… “somepony else.” My name is Azure Breeze.” They bro-hooved but Biscuit still felt uneasy about this pony. Pinkie Pie rushed over to him. “Hey Azure you made it! Let’s go dance!” Azure tried to say something “Wait Pinkie I!” she pulled him over to the dance floor before he could finish. Biscuit looked around the room and saw that there was a yellow pony with a pink mane over with the animals. Biscuit couldn’t tell if she had just arrived or if she had been there all night because he never saw her walk in. Nevertheless, he went to say hello. She seemed to be carrying out conversations with the animals.
“Hello,” Biscuit said as he walked up. The pony looked scared. “…Oh…um…hello.” She was looking down. There was an awkward pause. “What’s your name.” Biscuit asked. “…My name is…Fluttershy.” She said while stroking a white bunny. She kind of mumbled her name a bit but Biscuit managed to catch it. “I take it you like animals?” Biscuit asked. She was looking up now. “Oh yes I love animals.” “That’s cool. I like animals too.” Fluttershy’s eyes got big and bright. “Really!? What kind of pet do you have?” “Oh I don’t really have a pet.” Biscuit said, remembering the feeling when he told Twilight that he didn’t read. Fluttershy suddenly got a surprised look on her face. There was a pause, then she took up a very large grin. She squeeled in excitement. Her squeal was so loud, everybody was looking at her and at Biscuit. “EEEEEEE! You really need to come by my home to find yourself a pet!” Biscuit started remembering that everypony at the party had arrived with some sort of pet. “So all of you here have some kind of pet huh?”
Biscuit said looking around the room. “Well everyone except you and me,” Azure said. “You too Azure! Then both of you, come by my home tomorrow and I’ll show you two the different kinds of animals you can adopt!” “Um, im not sure. I’ve never thought about having a pet before.” Biscuit said. “C’mon guys, Take it from me. I was hesitant at first, but once you get a pet, it can be a total life saver, literally.” Rainbow dash said while patting her tortoise’s shell. “Umm I don’t know, what do you think Azure?” Biscuit asked. “It does sound kinda fun to have a cool pet with me the way you guys do.” Azure said. Biscuit gave it some thought. “I guess I could take a look tomorrow.” Biscuit said but still feeling uneasy. Everybody cheered. Especially Pinkie Pie as she shot her party cannon. “YAY! Now let’s all celebrate with some of Biscuit’s special sandwiches!” Pinkie Pie handed everypony a plate with Biscuit’s sandwiches.
“What is this ghastly looking meal you’ve given us here Pinkie.” Rarity said as she flipped open the top bun with her magic. “Just try it everybody! It’s Sugarcube Corners soon-to-be-famous sandwich made by our very own Biscuit!” Pinkie Pie said shoving three in her mouth and eating them in one bite. Everypony looked hesitant, but once they took their bites, they all had hearts displayed in their eyes, at least, everypony except Twilight. She knew what it was and couldn’t take a bite. “C’mon Twilight, everyone else tried it.” Biscuit said raising his eyebrows. Twilight closed her eyes and took her first bite. Biscuit was watching her face very closely. Biscuit saw her slowly open her eyes. They too had hearts in them.
The next morning, Biscuit woke up quite excited. It was his first day of work. He also remembered that he and Azure were to adopt a pet that day. Azure had agreed to stop by Sugarcube Corner when Biscuit got off so they could head off to Fluttershy’s. Biscuit shaved for the first time in a while, and groomed himself a bit more than he usually did. He was so excited he arrived to work an hour early. Mrs. Cake was preparing the counter for that day’s future business, “You’re looking awfully well-groomed today, seems you’re pretty early too.” “I was too excited I couldn’t wait another hour. I’ve been looking forward to this all night,” Biscuit said. “Well if that’s the case, you can start working by preparing some of the display deserts. Oh and don’t forget this.” Mrs. Cake placed a tall bakers hat on Biscuit’s head. He looked at it with gleaming eyes and touched it very delicately and slowly as if it would break if he touched it any harder. “I’ve always wanted to wear one of these.” Biscuit trotted into the kitchen very happily.
Biscuit had a very successful day. He got positive reviews for his sandwich and all the breads he made came out to perfection. It was the end of his shift so that meant Azure would come by any minute so they could check out some of the pets at Fluttershy’s home. He was putting away his apron and hat when Azure walked through the door. “What’s up Biscuit, you just about ready to go?” Azure asked. “Just about, gimme a minute to clean up here.” Biscuit said. Pinkie Pie suddenly appeared in front of Azure as she had zipped down from upstairs. She had her hooves behind her back as if she was hiding something. “Hey Azure,” she said. Azure looked at pinkie “Oh hi pinkie how are you today,” “Fine here look I made something for you.” She revealed a pink cupcake with white frosting, sprinkles, and a cherry on top. It was made with the utmost perfection as the frosting had been neatly shaped and the sprinkles were organized in a specific pattern by color. Azures mouth began to water but he pushed Pinkie’s hoof away. “Pinkie, you know what happens when I eat those.” “C’mon Azure,” she wined, “you know how much fun it is. Now open wide.” She threw the cupcake into his mouth. Azure let it sit in his mouth for a while. He didn’t want to eat it but he saw Pinkie’s baby blue eyes gazing upon him in excitement.
He didn’t want anything else but to make Pinkie Pie smile the way she did him. He let out a sigh and he chewed the cupcake and swallowed. Biscuit was in the kitchen when he heard a strange ruckus. There were so many different noises at once, he couldn’t tell who or what or where they were coming from. Biscuit rushed over the front counter. He just saw Azure standing there while Pinkie Pie was jumping up and down around him in circles. The odd thing was Azure had that same look on his face the first time Biscuit saw Azure. “Um, Pinkie Pie, what did you do with Azure?” Biscuit asked, keeping his distance from the both of them. “Oh that’s not Azure anymore Biscuit.” She said still jumping around with a smile, “I like to call him Blinky Twitch.” Azure, or Blinky Twitch, was licking his lips very vigorously trying to get the rest of the cupcake off his face and he had a strange twitch in his eye. “Blinky Twitch huh?” Biscuit was examining Blinky while rubbing his chin. “I suppose this is what he meant by “somepony else” yesterday at the party.” “That’s right Biscuit; this is his super hyper fun side! All you gotta do is give him a bit of sugar!” Pinkie Pie said.
She started to make random faces and noises towards Blinky and he responded with the same actions. Biscuit look at what he was dealing with. “Alright it seems Blinky is in no condition to visit Fluttershy so I think I’ll head down by myself.” Biscuit said. “Nonsense Fluttershy will just love Blinky.” Pinkie Pie pushed Blinky in front of Biscuit and he licked Biscuit’s face, leaving a massive trail of saliva all over Biscuit’s face and mane. “I don’t think that’s such a good idea. I don’t really have any experience in babysitting something like this.” Blinky began to bark like a dog and sniffed at the air. “It’ll be good practice for your future pet.” Pinkie Pie said. “I suppose.” Biscuit said staring at Blinky’s twitch. He knew that he was going to have to watch Blinky and make sure he didn’t cause any sort of trouble considering the state he was in.
Biscuit was having some trouble keeping Blinky still. He felt awkward seeing the townsfolk stare as they walked down the streets. They finally arrived to Fluttershy’s home. Biscuit was admiring the beautiful garden outside Fluttershy’s home. He leaned his head in to take a strong sniff of the flower. He saw Blinky lean over too. He was hoping Azure was back and wanted to smell the flowers too. Blinky grabbed one of the flowers in his mouth and proceed to just suck all the moisture out of it, at least whatever moisture he found in a flower. He still had the same twitch in his eye. Biscuit sighed and walked to the front door. He knocked and Fluttershy answered the door. “Oh hello Biscuit and… Azure?” She took instant notice of Blinky’s state. “Yeah… so apparently give Azure some sugar… you get… this.” Biscuit pointed at the twitching pony. “Oh I heard about this from Pinkie Pie but I never actually witnessed it.” Fluttershy said. “Um, hey um, you know, like, where’s your bathroom, n’stuff you know?!” Blinky was running in place when he asked. “Oh its up the stairs to the—“ Blinky cut her off midsentence as he blazed upstairs, leaving a thin trail of dust. “I think he might be a while,” Fluttershy said. “You wanna get started with some of the animals?” “Um… I suppose,” Biscuit said. He was still feeling a bit nervous about adopting a pet. They walked over to Fluttershy’s little field where she keeps all of the animals. Biscuit began to hear some music slowly begin to fade in…

I’m serious, this is only my third day in ponyville

There are otters and seals with massive appeal
[Biscuit]
Okay fine you continue singing
But I don’t think otters and seals
Fit me as a pet
[Fluttershy]
Wait! There must be a pet here that will fit the ticket
How 'bout a ladybug or a cute cricket?
[Biscuit]
I’d rather avoid bugs please
[Fluttershy]
I have plenty of wonderful creatures who soar in the sky
Like a sweet hummingbird or a giant monarch butterfly
[Biscuit]
Yeah but I’m an earth pony, I don’t fly
[Fluttershy]
I see. How 'bout an owl, or a wasp, or a toucan?
There's so many wonderful creatures the likes of that
There are falcons and eagles
They are both quite regal
Or perhaps what you need is a dark and mysterious bat
[Biscuit]
Those seems cool but again, I don’t fly
[Fluttershy]
I've got a hot pink flamingo, just dying to meet you
[Biscuit]
All these pets are cool’n’all but I just can’t decide
The music stopped. Fluttershy was fluttering over Biscuit and looking down upon him with her hooves at her hips. She seemed a bit annoyed that he couldn’t decide on a pet. “Well what’s it gonna be Biscuit? You have to decide.” “I, um, uhm, I’m not sure. You have many wonderful pets here but I just can’t decide.” Biscuit said, slumping down a bit. Fluttershy began to flutter closer to his face. She was looking a bit scary. “Well you have to decide Biscuit, all of these pets here need a wonderful home and you have the chance now to change one of their lives for the better by giving them a good home and showing them love and compassion.”
“Alright you know what, how about you just give me a pet of your choosing. Just give me the pet that you feel who needs the most companionship.” “All right then Biscuit, I have the perfect pet in mind. Just let me gather his things.” Fluttershy was gone for a few minutes. Biscuit stepped inside the house to look for Blinky. He found Blinky in the kitchen leaning over a counter. He seemed to be fiddling with something. “Hey Blinky, wha’tcha got there?” Biscuit tried peeking in from the side. “Oh I’m just playing with my new pet.” Blinky had his chin on his hoof. He had been fiddling with the leaver on the side of a toaster. He was just pushing it up and down. Biscuit was about to question him, but then he remembered that this wasn’t Azure.
Biscuit heard Fluttershy humming outside. He figured she was done so he stepped outside. Fluttershy was fluttering over a red wagon and she seemed to be mumbling to somepony. She saw Biscuit and turned towards him, “are you ready to meet your new companion?” She fluttered upward, revealing what had been sitting in the wagon the whole time. It was a large brown bear sitting on his butt in the wagon. The bear just stared at Biscuit’s eyes. The bear let out a large exhale from his flared nostrils. “Fluttershy, I can’t take a bear! They’re vicious and deadly! He would cause a riot in the streets of Ponyville!” Bisucit exclaimed. “Oh not this little guy.” Fluttershy scratched his back and the bear seemed at ease. “He’s very calm and peaceful. He’s the only bear here so he often feels lonely and needs the most companionship out of all the animals here. Now here’s a list of all the things he’ll need.” Fluttershy handed Biscuit a scroll-like list that unrolled and hit the ground. “Fluttershy this list is outrageous! Why can’t I just give him food, water, and a place to sleep?” Fluttershy was scrathing the bear’s back again.
“Because Biscuit, these bears have very specific necessities when it comes to care and compassion. Just follow that list and he’ll be the best thing to ever come into your life.” Biscuit looked at the bear. The bear had a very lazy look on his face. “Are you sure this bear is calm? I’ve never heard of a calm bear before and I don’t want this one to start going into crazy rampages whenever he gets angry.” Biscuit said. “Trust me, I’ve known this bear for a long time. Some of the puppies here can be more aggressive.” The bear laid down onto his belly and began to sleep instantly. Biscuit sighed. “I’m gonna trust you on this Fluttershy.” “Ooh goody. That makes me very happy. Now for Azure.” Fluttershy said. “I think that’s already taken care of.” Biscuit said. Fluttershy flew inside and found Blinky with her toaster. “C’mon Azure, let’s go find you a pet.” Blinky instantly reacted and ran to the corner of the kitchen with the toaster and said, “NO! I already found my pet! His name is Toasty.” He was admiring his reflection off the chrome toaster. “C’mon now Azure, that’s not a pet. We need to get you a real pet.” She went to grab the toaster. Blinky dodged her and ran to the other corner of the kitchen and knelt down. “NO! This is my pet! I want this! This is my pet!” He said while stroking the toaster quite vigorously. Each stroke made a squeak sound like when something slides down a glass window. Fluttershy was confused on how to deal with the situation. Biscuit walked up to her and whispered, “Just let him take it for now. I’ll make sure he returns it when he becomes Azure again.”
Biscuit and Blinky began to head home. Biscuit was pulling the wagon with a sleeping bear in it and Blinky was dragging a toaster along the ground with the chord in his mouth. He had an odd smile in his face. It was dark by the time they reached the center of town. They were passing by Sugercube Corner when Pinkie Pie ran outside and grabbed Blinky. Without question, she said, “Hey Biscuit! Cool bear!” She rushed Blinky into the shop before Biscuit could respond. He saw his home down the block. He was actually enjoying this small moment to himself. Everypony in town was in their homes and preparing for a goodnight’s sleep so no one was out to question Biscuit about the bear. He reached his home and pulled the wagon inside. Before he closed the front door he took notice of the library across the street. He realized that if he hadn’t spoken to Twilight that first day he arrived in Ponyville, he probably wouldn’t have any friends just yet, even if he did think most of them were a bit odd.
He found an extra mattress in his closet and put it on the floor in the living room. The bear’s eyes were halfway open. Biscuit said, “you can sleep on this. The shops are closed right now so I’ll go buy some of your “bear food” that’s on the list tomorrow morning. You can eat these meanwhile.” Biscuit brought out a large stack of his famous sandwiches wrapped in plastic wrap and put it on the floor next to the mattress. The bear stepped out of the wagon. He sleepily smelled the sandwiches and ate all of them in one bite, including the plastic wrap. He let his entire body fall onto the mattress and starting snoring instantly. Biscuit walked upstairs to his bathroom. He brushed his teeth and from there went straight to bed. While he laid there under his sheets, he began to think about what happened over his first few days of living in this new town. He had managed to fall in love with reading, earn a career, befriend a number of odd ponies, including a sugar crazed one who now technically had a pet toast, and adopted a bear as a pet. This thought put him at ease and allowed him to fall asleep with a smile.
