Sonic Discord - Equestrian Chaos

Tails looked around, seemingly remembering parts of this place in the sky from past adventures, while also seeing what appeared to be parts of a large and fairly modern city, and in the distance was a factory that seemed to be puffing out clouds. Not clouds of pollution, but rather clouds of condensed water vapor. How that could possibly work or even be needed when water naturally evaporated, rose into the sky, and condensed into clouds containing rain, snow, or hail was beyond him...

There was also the matter of the purple unicorn with him, who getting back on her hooves almost screamed when she saw they were on a large ancient-style stone platform in the sky, one of many such pieces of land or ancient ruins linked together with each other and to what looked like Cloudsdale by sections of clouds. “Where,,, are we? Did Discord destroy the world? Are we standing on what's left of it” she said almost in a fright.

A unicorn was one thing Tails had not seen before... but unicorn or not, he had also never seen a talking horse. “You can talk?” he asked.

“Why wouldn't I be able to talk, and did Discord destroy the world or are we just somewhere up in the sky?” Twilight could only reply to such an absurd question as to whether a pony could talk or not.

Tails, not entirely sure how to reply tried to calm the unicorn down. “I don't know. Sonic talked about a stalemate with something or somebody named Discord, but I've never heard of him before. All my attempts to find information on him failed too. Sorry to ask a strange question, too. It's just that where I come from, horses can't talk.”

Twilight, if anything, found that information more discouraging, as the probability the... fox (?) she was with was not from her world but the “human” world that the “eggman” came from meant that this whole situation was definitely Discord's doing. “I was in Ponyville, I had gotten a letter from Princess Celestia that a human 'Eggman' from another world had unwittingly freed Discord, an ancient and powerful being with the ability to cause all kinds of chaos, and that Discord had vanished. Not long afterward, strange things happened. My friends saw something in the sky, and then... there was a shock wave, nothing destructive, but something that I still felt going through my body with a lot of force. Then I was here in what partially looks like Cloudsdale.”

“Dr. Eggman caused this? He must have tried to find a weapon or ally to use against Sonic again! But I guess that didn't turn out well, as usual. We won't get anywhere by standing here and talking about it though, so how about we introduce ourselves? I'm Miles Prower, though most call me Tails.” Tails offered his hand to Twilight, to sort of offer whatever you call a handshake when one of the “hands” is a hoof.

“Twilight Sparkle” she said as she gave him her hoof for a moment. “So this Dr. Eggman was going to try and use Discord as a weapon against this... Sonic? There isn't much we can do about it right now though. We should at least try and find out where we are”. Tails was about to step off the stone platform, when Twilight stopped him.

“Tails, don't go any farther! Only Pegasi can walk on clouds without magic.”

Twilight's horn started glowing, and the glow started to surround them both. Twilight then walked over the stretch of clouds, showing that whatever she had done was working, and Tails followed after her.

They saw a large and somewhat Roman looking ruin covered in vines and leaves, but only a few feet away from it was a fairly modern house made partially out of oddly solid clouds and partially of fairly modern building materials, with a pond made of... liquid rainbow?

“So much like Cloudsdale, yet so different...” Twilight said.

“The ruined structures look like something from Angel Island's Sky Sanctuary, but the large stretches of green ahead look like Windy Valley... almost as if they are all here just because of a single theme...” Noting the odd look of the Cloudsdale house, Tails said “I guess weather works differently in your world, I saw what looked like a factory making rain clouds.”

A sound started coming from a device on Tails' wrist, as the display showed their location, and a point somewhere at the far end of this new place. Figuring whatever it was leading them to must be powerful, Tails said “The tracker says it's detecting something in this place. Whatever it is, it might be of use to us.” With that, the 2 of them started off in it's direction.

SKY SANCTUARY – ACT 2 NORMAL SPEED

The scenery was nothing less than exotic, as various vines, plants, and tropical birds showed nature was reclaiming the more ancient parts of the new city, while the occasional stretch of greenery showed Windy Valley had an influence on the look too in addition to the city made of clouds.

But it still was a snapshot of 2 points in time, as it was Sky Sanctuary from years ago and Windy Valley from less years ago, very much as he remembered it when he raced Sonic to find the Chaos Emerald.

They ran across stone ruins, the cloud road disappearing as the stone appeared, as Twilight, in a panic, fired a beam of magic at a metal creature with an egg-shaped body that narrowly missed them with an odd weapon. Even Dr. Eggman's robots from that time were very much present here. Going further, they came across something that caused Twilight a bit of trouble though.

An emptiness, crossed only by 3 clouds, separated them from a beautiful plaza with a fountain that still ran after who knows how long. Tails knew how to cross it without flight. But would Twilight believe it?

Looking at Twilight, he said “Don't worry, the clouds are like trampolines. They'll bounce you across. All it takes is courage and confidence!”

Looking down, Twilight was more concerned by the fall if her aim was off. “But... what if I miss?”

Being able to fly, and knowing Twilight probably never had to deal with such obstacles before Tails figured that might be too much for her. “I could try to you across then. Though I admit a horse is something I never had to lift before.”

“I'm a pony.” Twilight said nervously, before continuing with “But I think I understand what you're saying.”

Tails awkwardly picked up Twilight and jumped... hoping he was able to land on the first cloud. He almost didn't make it. But Twilight's added weight was more than enough to get them sprung across from one cloud to the next and to the other side... of the gap. Not the other side that most who are healthy dread going to. The fountain, while somewhat eroded, was very beautiful.

There were also some Egg Robos. But a well timed jump from Tails and some magic shots from Twilight got rid of them.

Going further, there was a small green field, clearly from Windy Valley, but full of the ruins of the Sky Sanctuary. A large robotic centipede with the ability to emit flames WOULD have been threatening if a unicorn was not present.

The path led to a large circular road going up around an antiquated building. Tails knew exactly what that meant. “Twilight, whatever you do, don't stop running until I do!” he said as they ran in circles around the structure until they eventually hit something odd. A large red spring-loaded item that shot them over to a section of what was likely mostly Cloudsdale.

The signal went in a straight line, going through what looked like the factory from earlier that was making the rain clouds.

Curious as to how one manufactured weather, Tails went in to have a look, while Twilight figured that since she had been through the tour herself she might as well tell him how it worked.

EVENT 8 (Sonic Adventure 2)

“You mean they hand make every single snowflake? That sounds like a lot of work...”

“Hoof made, and It is, but it's not like where you come from, in which nature runs itself. I'd love to see your 'solar system' for myself.” Twilight was fascinated at the prospect of seeing an ecosystem that could sustain itself so long as it's inhabitants didn't cause any serious harm to it. Actually there was one exception that in Equestria. “Actually there is the Everfree Forest. It has clouds that move by themselves and animals that handle themselves, but it isn't exactly the safest place to be.”

“The Everfree Forest?” Tails asked.

“It's an odd place full of dangerous creatures, and few if anypony know much about. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna used to have their palace there, but it's been abandoned for centuries in favor of a different location. Would you like to continue the tour?”

Later, Twilight and Tails left through another part of the factory, their target being in the direction of what was clearly dominated by Windy Valley. The windmills and robotic animals were all there as were the artificial structures made of more natural materials.

WINDY VALLEY 3 (Sonic Adventure)

Ignoring the monkey robots, hey ran forward to get a good jump on a conveniently placed trampoline, which pushed them up to a higher level, and judging from the apparent age of the bridge ahead, they would have to run to get across it. Sure enough, if Twilight had been any slower, she would have fallen off. They ended up going inside a natural looking vertical tube, but in was a large fan that blew them up onto another spring, where they saw a panel on the ground that said “1”. There were 4 more, labeled “2”, “3”, “4”, and “5”. After Tails demonstrated that if you jump REALLY fast, the panels can get you places quickly and safely, Twilight ignored her concerns and used the panels herself.

That led to a situation even she had a hard time believing. They were on an island suspended in the air, nothing joining it to anything but a long tunnel of wind. “Just trust me, Twilight. The tunnel is perfectly safe. You just need to keep moving forward and you won't fall.”

“If... you... say... so...” worrying that her fears may be justified after all, she took off running into the wind tunnel, as Tails followed after her. The 2 of them were surprisingly safe, arriving at was clearly another piece of Sky Sanctuary, but was built around a piece of Windy Valley and lined with buildings from Cloudsdale. There was a long ramp going in various directions, and the target was not that much further away.

“I think it's at the end of that long ramp. It's really close now.”

Twilight was getting hungry, though, and tired. “Can't we rest a little? At least long enough to let my legs and hooves relax?”

“If you need to, it is all downhill but a break would probably help.”

After Twilight's legs recovered, they followed the twisting downhill ramp to... Rainbow Dash's house? In the yard was a piece of a green gem, apparently a large gem at that. The gem started glowing when Twilight and Tails had both touched it, and a sound nobody who worked with machinery would enjoy could be heard as a British police box appeared in front of them. Out came Rainbow Dash and Sonic, as well as a pony that looked just like Dr. Hooves.

“Tails! You made it!”

“Twilight, you're all right!”
