" I'm late I'M LATE" shouted twilight as she flew as fast at her wings could carry her. the day was a beautiful clear summers afternoon and the wind was cool like a brisk breeze blowing through her coat it tickled her mane as she shot through the air as gracefully as she could. the bird song had begun to quieten as the afternoon had started to set in. filly's were playing below the brightly shining sun and colts were working hard in the distant fields. the day was fine and twilight thought the better of it "i hope im not too lad the day is perfect for flying practice and rainbow dash has been busy lately I hope I don't annoy her too much" she was nearing the mouth of the gorge that rainbow dash had instructed her to meet at. she was but 5 minutes away when she heard a loud voice call her from bellow her. "HEY TWILIGHT!"
she was shocked back to her senses as the unusually lout the voice ripped through the air "there's only one pony capable of a shout like that" said twilight "applejack". she looked below her to see where the voice had originated and saw the tall orange pony standing under an apple tree directly under her. as she started to descend she notice that the mare was struggling to buck the apples out of the tall yet thin apple tree. "HE TWILIGHT MIND HELPING ME TO PICK THE APPLES ON THE TALLEST BRANCHED MAH HOOVES CANT SEEM TO MAKE A SOLID BUCK" shouted applejack "sure" replied twilight as she began to use her magic to surround each apple in a forcefield of magical energy lifting and plucking each of the ripe and juicy apples from the branches. "thanks twilight" said applejack "its fine" said twilight ill always help a friend in need". "so where you a heading in such a rush" asked apple jack, "oh I'm just heading to the gorge on the other side of town to meet with rainbow dash she's going teach me some more advanced flying tricks". apple jack gasped at the mention of the gorge "ya mean ghastly gorge that place isn't safe are you sure you want to go there, your flying aint exactly the best ya know". twilight suddenly remembered that last time she was at the gorge. rainbow had almost been killed by a rock slide she had caused by bumping into a fragile rock. "yeah I know applejack but if rainbow dash feels confident then i do too" "OK sugar-cube" replied apple jack "but you be careful now ya here"
the gorge is in site thought twilight as she flew towards the colossal tear in the ground that ran about 2 hole miles long with the thickest part able to fit 20 fully grown ponies end to end. "ah plenty of room to work with" said twilight aloud whilst also trying to locate the part of the canyon that rainbow had told her to meet by.
