Today is the day. Saturday. The day to rejoice our Saviors. Over one hundred years ago, They saved us. They created our safe, stable, perfect environment. They created The Rules. This Saturday is different though. Today is The Claiming. Mares that're fifteen years old are Claimed by a fifteen year old colt. The mares are bid on and are Claimed by the highest bidder. Once the colt "wins" the mare, they leave together and get their house with the remaining bits that the colt has.
I'm fifteen. My Claiming is today and I'm totally worried about who would bid highest on me. My best friends are being Claimed today too. In two hours, I'll be Claimed by some random colt.
I collect my things that I'll need for my new life. My brother's picture rests on my bed as I take my favorite books from the shelf. I check The Claiming clock. An hour and forty-five minutes left. I grab the rest of what I need as my cell phone beeps. I levitate the small piece of technology over to my face. I read the message from Celeste.
Hey. I'm nervous. I need somepony to talk to other than the Claiming Officer.

I giggle at the Claiming Officer part. I trot over to my laptop, checking my IM account. I find over one hundred messages from my friends. I place my phone down next to the hoof board, and it beeps again.
Seriously. Either text me back, or video chat with Gillian and I.

I open up the video chat and see Gillian in tears. I knew that she wasn't ready. Neither was I. I look at The Claiming Clock again. An hour until I'm Claimed. Until we're Claimed. Looking back at the non-lousy screen, Celeste is flying past her laptop. Collecting all of her amazing drawings and sketches. Truly, I wanted to help her pack, but I knew The Rules of our Society. No Unicorns in a Pegasus or Earth Pony faction, for example. Plus I would be the biggest burden ever. The Society has four factions. Unicorn, Pegasus, Earth, and The Government. Our factions only come together when we have School.
Celeste was having a panic attack in her own room in front of me and Gill, Gill was under tons of pressure because of The Claiming, and I, was so nervous, I was expressionless.
"Hey! Rhia! Yeah you! Were you even listening to us?" The chocolate mare asks.
"What?" I say, coming out of my lame trance. "Uh. Ichabod!"
"Not even close girl. We wanted to know about how much we would be bid on," Celeste whispers to me, not to frighten Gillian any more than she already was.
"Oh. Sorry. Celeste, your coat is chocolate brown so your highest bid would be about seventy-five. Gillian, your coat is a beautiful white so probably," I pause, "eighty bits."
