“Blood Ties”
[Silvre's Point of View]
It was about midday until we found a place that had a huge pond in the center, some trees, rocks and sand.
“This is the place,” I announced out loud. “To get to Drâköto, we need to bend time and space.”
“How do we do that?” Spike asked with curiosity.
“You will have to use raw energy,” I explained. “The pond is not like any other. It can be used as a portal to go to Drâköto.”
Spike bit his lower lip. “I'll try,” he said. He stepped toward the edge of the pond and exhaled. His claw glowed green and then a ray of energy hit the pond. The lake shimmered green for a moment before returning to its previous state.
“Did it work?” Spike asked.
“Only one way to find out,” I said. “Let's go.”
I stepped to the edge of the lake and dived in.
The portal worked. All of us were at Drâköto. The celestial city never ceased to amaze me. Dragons of all elements were present. As we walked down the crystal pathway that led to Drâköto's center, we watched a middle aged dark element dragon that was about 8 feet, learning to absorb life of a tree on the grassy plains. On the opposite side of the dark dragon, a young terra dragon that was about 3 feet, was trying to break a boulder that was about twice its size.
As we neared the celestial city, more and more dragons came into view. As we walked towards the top of a hill, the center of Drâköto came into view. The city was adorned by many gems of all types. Platinum, Gold, Silver and other metals were found here.
As we walked further down the crystal pathway, the more populated it got. In one instance, a metallic ball came bounding down a hill and stopped in front of Spike. A young fire dragon saw the ball and called out to Spike.
“Would you mind throwing our ball back?” the young fire dragon asked. Spike picked up the metal ball and gave it back to the little drake. The small fire hatchling simply smiled at him.
“Tnhainak Eiuioi!” it said before running off with its other friends to resume playing their game.
“It seems like someone thanked you,” I said.
“Yeah,” Spike replied softly.
About fifteen minutes passed before we reached a huge cave that was carved inside the cliff. The outside of the cave was adorned with pillars that had draconic hieroglyphics and that stood up at about 16 feet in the air.
On the top of the cave, there was a gold plate that had more draconic hieroglyphics.
“Maximillius Anakluzmøs,” Spike read the foreign inscription.
“Yep. This is my trainer's home,” I said as I started to walk inside. I stopped at the entrance of the cave and asked if Arya and Fayfel could go somewhere else. They agreed and flew off in another direction, leaving Spike standing by himself.
“Aren't you coming with me?” I asked.
Spike nodded and followed me inside the cave.
The inside of the cave was dark. It seemed as if it were abandoned. Soon, a rumbling sound was heard by me and Spike.
“What was that?” Spike asked in a scared voice.
“Don't worry,” I replied nonchalantly.
“Vhhui khaihneish tnui einatneihn kaei khuikaaiiena?” a deep, baritone voice said.
“Kaei tnhnaiienaeihn,” I replied back. “Ie aika Shiernfnhn-eioish.”
“And I believe the dragon beside you can be trusted to keep information?” the voice asked.
“Yes.”
“Excellent. What is your name, young one?”
“My n-name is S-Spike,” the magical dragon said timidly.
“Do not fear me, Spike,” the voice said before something shifted from the shadows, and slowly revealed itself.
The shadow moved slowly to the faint light. The dragon revealed to be at a height of 15 feet. His features were gold and dark grey scales with spikes that were jet black. His eyes were orange that seemed to glow in the darkness. One long horn was visible on the top of his head and two shorter ones in the back. His shape was that of a lean, muscular dragon.
The dragon towered over Spike and me, making us feel small while around him.
“Spike, I introduce you to Maximillius, my trainer,” I said. “You can call him Max, just like I do.”
Maximillius smiled warmly while also exposing his large canine fangs. “It is nice to meet you.”
I nodded and smiled nervously.
“Shiernfnhn-eioish, why did come here?” Max asked curiously.
“We came here to see if you could help us with our dreams that we had.”
“Certainly. What kind of dreams were you having?”
“Well, I remember some of it but I saw myself trying to fight a dragon that was probably three times my size. He looked a lot like me and all I remember is going unconscious as I got hit by a powerful blow by the massive dragon,” I concluded.
“That's not all of it,” Spike spoke up.
Max rose a scaly eyebrow at him. “Please, do tell.”
“In my dream,” he started. “A pony village was burning and asteroids were falling from the sky. A young filly was about to he crushed by meteorite that was directed towards her. My reflexes took over and I put a protective field around her. As the meteorite hit my field, an explosion occured and I held my ground. Afterwards, I took the little filly to the town to search for her parents. I met one of my friends during the way and I entrusted him to find the little filly's parents.
I flew around the town to see what remained of the village until I was suddenly pierced in one of my wings and started to descend to the ground. I then met Ephixüs,” Max's jaw clenched abruptly. “He said that I made ‘The Prophecy a reality’. Silvre showed up and we both attacked him, trying to kill him. Silvre was knocked very far away while his lightning javelin sprawled on the dirt. I grabbed Silvre's javelin and was about to throw it at him until Ephixüs' claw pierced right through me. After that, my vision turned black,” he concluded with a sigh.
Max remained silent with a grim expression on his face. “Did you say Eph!xüs?” he finally asked.
“Yes.”
“You fought Draconia's tyrant?”
“What?”
Max sighed. “Silvreus, after you left Draconia, Lord Aohlus Rii’Xek was assassinated.”
“What? How?” I asked with worry.
“Ephixüs,” Max said venomously. “The Hybrid of all draconic races came into power. After they dealt with Aohlus, they enforced all dragons to obey his commands and anyone who didn't, was to be executed.”
“Then… Why isn't there a rebellion? Why isn't there dragons who want to restore everything to how it was?” Spike asked.
Max's expression changed to sadness. “There were. All the rebellions were crushed by Ephixüs' forces. More than 80,000 rebel dragons were killed out of the 3 million dragons that inhabit Draconia.”
I felt as if somedragon had put me weights. I felt dread, sadness, anger and hopelessness.
“Before I leave,” I said in a shaky voice. “I want to know who are Spike's parents.”
Max exhaled. “Come with me and I'll take you to the Bloodlines.”
[Spike's Point of View]
Max directed us to a hallway that had many rooms. Then after passing 20 or so rooms, we went inside a medium sized room with a fountain in the center.
“Spike,” Maximillius said. “This is no ordinary fountain. This is the Bloodline, a fountain that reveals your ancestors and to who you are related to.”
“So, uh… How does it work?” I asked.
“A drop of blood is needed,” Max replied casually.
“What?”
“A drop of blood is needed,” Max repeated.
“What for?”
“Spike, don't que - ” Silvre was cut off by Max.
“It's alright, Silvreus. He doesn't know our customs. Spike, your blood is needed because it contains your DNA and traits. That is how the Bloodline works.”
I nodded slowly. I held out my claw. “Okay, let's drop my blood into the Bloodline.”
Silvre came closer to me. “Are you sure?”
I nodded.
“Okay but this will hurt,” he said as he made a cut on my wrist at blinding speed.
I hissed in pain. My blood spilled into the fountain and the water turned to a bright shade of green. Green mist swirled around the fountain, making it seem as if a snake was curling around the Bloodline. As the mist disappeared, some of the water started to levitate and form a floating water wall right in front of me.
The water shimmered and glowing draconic hieroglyphs showed up.
A glowing purple name appeared at the very top right of the aquatic wall. A line connected the purple hieroglyph to a gold, red and blue hieroglyphic name.
“My mother… she is - ” I was cut off by Maximillius.
“Genesis Axiak,” the golden dragon said in bewilderment. “I can't believe it… You are the descendant of the last dragon to have the Magic Element.”
“Not only that,” Silvre said. “But many dragons believe that Genesis has died.”
I looked at the chart again. I read the other names and translated them. I was shocked to find out who were my siblings.
“My brother and sister are… Razre and Sapphire?”
I looked at the aquatic wall again.
“It seems I am the eldest.” I said. “What I don't understand, is how am I the eldest, yet, look younger?”
“That is simple to answer,” Max replied. “According to the draconic numbers that appear under your name, your egg was placed into incubation way before dragons inhabited Draconia.”
“Then, that would mean Spike is over a millennia!” Silvre blurted out.
“Exactly. Spike, even though it may seem impossible to believe, you've been trapped in your egg for nearly a millennia. You are far older than the princesses of Equestria and me.”
I stared at the aquatic wall intently, as if waiting for the wall to explode.
“Are you okay, Spike?” Max asked.
I sighed. “I guess. This is already so much to take in and accept.”
“I understand my young drake,” Max said.
Then, I noticed a little line sprouting out of Genesis' name. When it stopped moving, the line shinned brightly.
“The Bloodline is not complete,” Max announced. “There is another dragon that contains the other half of the information.”
I immediately turned to Silvre.
“Spike, before you ask, there is no way I could be your brother,” the lightning drake said. “Besides, how can I be your sibling if you are over a millennia old?”
“Please? Could you do it for me?” I then used a spell to make myself look like the baby dragon I once was. I looked at Silvre with a sad face.
“Fine,” he sighed defeatedly while I grinned.
“Yes!” I exclaimed while reversing the spell. After I undid the spell, my features were teenage again.
Spike stepped close to the Bloodline and he made a cut on his wrist. He winced as his blood rolled into the fountain's waters. A white column of smoke curled around the fountain and then, a white aura surrounded the wall of water. A few seconds passed before the aura dissipated. New inscriptions were shown on the wall of water.
“What? How? This can't be right!” Silvre stammered.
“The Bloodline is never wrong,” Max said.
“This has to be false!” the lightning dragon said in a cracked voice.
I looked at the wall and I saw all of my siblings. Silvre and Razre were my brothers. Sapphire, Arya and Fayfel were my sisters... but I then realized why Silvre was so upset.
Our father… was Ephixüs, the tyrant of Draconia.
