Chapter 1: Another Day In Ponyville
The warm morning spring air blew through the fields of Sweet Apple Acers all the way through the town of Ponyville, disturbing the leaves on the ground. In a bakery near the center of the town, a certain pink pony was waking up to a new day.
!Pppzzzttt, bbbrrrtttzzz!, *Click*
A pink mare rolled in her bed, letting out a slow sigh as she awoke from her slumber, stretching her front hooves over her head to relieve the tension that had built up from lying in bed. After her muscles were relaxed, she bolted from her place of rest landing on the maple wood floor; soft clanks echoed in her room as she hopped to the restroom to take a shower. Stepping into the tub the pink mare turned on the faucet letting the warm water fall on her average thin form. After a 20 minute shower, the pink mare hopped too her mirror and started to comb her mane, getting it into her favorite curly form. After messing with her mane and getting the curls in her hair just right, she opened the window next to her bed and yelled out.
“Goooooooood morrrrrning Ponnnnnnnyvillllllllle!”
After saying her morning wake up call for half of the town, she trotted to her door opening it up and heading down the stairs to the store below, which she lived above.
The store known as Sugar Cube Corner to the ponies of Ponyville, smelled of freshly brewed coffee and freshly baked pastries like donuts, muffins and bagels for the early morning ponies commuting to work or who were out an about and were just too lazy to make breakfast for themselves. The store was an older style house of the early western settlement area, with wooden floors and wooden beams running along the roof. A fireplace and chimney sat in the center of the store that brought warmth during the winter months. The pink pony made her way up to the counter where an older golden yellow stallion with an orange mane and older baby blue mare with a pink bee hive shaped mane were at.
“Hello Mr. and Mrs. Cake how are you this morning?” The bubbly pink mare called out, as she made her way behind the counter to take over for the stallion.
“Well hello Pinkie Pie, how are you?” Mr. Cake asked.
“Good.” Pinkie sung, as she took a customer’s order.
“That’s good dear. Hope you didn’t wake up the twins, it’s only 6:00am and they don’t start school until 8:00am?” Mrs. Cake asked looking at her apprentice and godchild.
“Nopey Lopey, I did not.” Pinkie Pie stated, giving Mrs. Cake a large smile.
“That’s good, um, Pinkie what have you, um been wanting to get for a while.” Mrs. Cake asked.
“What do you mean Mrs. Cake?” Pinkie asked, handing a customer their bag.
“Well Pinkie I was just wondering what you wanted to get because, I was thinking of raising your salary.” Mrs. Cake replied to Pinkie giving her a warm smile.
“Um, oh.” Taken back by the announcement of a raise, the pink pony pondered for a moment. “Well I was thinking of getting a new cake baking set before the annual Pastries Baking Face-Off.” The pink pony stated, handing another bag to a customer.
“Well then, thank you Pinkie, oh and could you take the twins to school today, we got some big orders to fill.” Mrs. Cake stated, nodding her approval of Pinkie’s answer.
“Okie, Dokie, Lokie, oh, um my B-Day is coming up this weekend on Friday, is the bakery going to be used for anything important during that day?” Pinkie asked Mrs. Cake, putting her hooves together, smiling at her boss.
“Um, I um, no...” Mrs. Cake mumbled. ‘Is she on too me, about asking her what she wanted for her Birthday.’ She thought.
“Sweet, I’ll have to tell my friends.” Pinkie stated with glee has she bounced to the kitchen to grab some more muffins to fill up the front counter window.
‘Whew, no she didn’t.’
The rest of the early morning went by well, early bird ponies came in to get coffee and other goodies to fill their stomachs. Later on in the morning hours, Pinkie Pie took a quick break to have a breakfast cupcake and a cup of coffee, which Mrs. Cake was unsure of her having with her already hyper active nature but Mr. Cake said she was a big mare, and to let Pinkie do her own things.
When the twins finally woke up Mrs. and Mr. Cake got them ready and kiss them good bye sending them on their way with Pinkie Pie to school. Stepping outside of the shop a cool breeze touched the legs of the three ponies leaving the shop. Even though the three of them wore light wool jackets, the morning spring chill was enough to make their spines tingle.
As Pinkie Pie walked along with the twins she looked around her surrounding, seeing ponies out in-about doing their daily activities. The town of Ponyville is a small town know for its farming and small mining caves on the outskirts of its town’s limits. The town was founded in 1456, during the 1,200 year mark of the Princess rule. The town consisted of several small stores, a hospital, a Sherif station, an elementary and high school. In the center of the town sat “Town Hall”, a building that towered over the small town.
Nearing the town’s center hub, she saw local farm ponies setting up stalls to sell their goods they grew like pears, walnuts, cherries and plums. Nearing the end of the mini farmers market that sat along the maple trees that lined the town’s park, she neared an apple stand with a certain orange mare next to a littler orange-ish yellow filly standing next to her.
“Hello Applejack, hello Applebloom!” Pinkie sung as she approached them.
“Now Applebloom you need to… Oh howdy Pinkie Pie. What yer doing at the farmers market?” Applejack asked, turning around to greet her friend.
“Oh, just taking the twins to school.” Pinkie replied.
“Hello Miss. Applejack, hello Applebloom.” The twins said in unison, as Applebloom waved to the younger filly and colt.
“Well Howdy ter you too, hey Pinkie could you take Applebloom ter school, I need ta stay with this here stand.” Applejack asked, as she pointed a hoof at her stand.
“Sure, ready to go Bloom?” Pinkie asked looking and the younger teenaged Apple family member.
“Sure… um, can I play hooky fer today sis?” Applebloom questioned to her sister, making the biggest puppy eyes she could too win the sympathy of her sister.
“No, yer got a big test now and yer know that granny finds out yer failed the test you’ll know what she’ll do, now get going before yer late fer school.” Applejack stated as she placed the Apple Family farm products neatly on the stand.
“Ok… but I and my friends forgot to study…” Mumbled Applebloom as she followed Pinkie and the twins to school, making sure her statement was out of earshot of her sister.
Remembering something Pinkie turned her head around to speak with Applejack. “Oh, um Applejack, I need to talk to you and the girls later on today.”
“K, sees ya later.” Applejack waved to Pinkie.
As Pinkie Pie and the two fillies and colt made it to the school grounds, Pinkie said her good byes an have funs to the twins and Applebloom. Heading back to Sugar Cube Corner, Pinkie thought of the things she needed to get ready for her birthday party, like invites and organizing the events that would play out during the party. Even though it was a Tuesday, she was always ahead of schedule with these things; after all it was her special talent to throw awesome wacky parties.
While walking through the streets of Ponyville, she started to ponder on her life. She was a full grown mare, and was about to turn 21 on Friday, she had a loving family, the best friends in the world, a dream job of being in the baking business with the best teachers who gave her a place to stay while she became their apprentice. She was one of the bearers of the Element of Harmony known as Laughter and she was perfecting her art at being the best party planner in Equestria.
Planning on expanding her abilities beyond birthday parties, get-togethers, new pony in town parties and random last minute parties; Pinkie wanted to branch out into doing weddings, and hosting special events. Though she got the chance to do a wedding once before for Twilights brother Shining Armor and his wife Cadence in Canterlot, the capital of Equestria, she wanted to improve her skills. Even though it was a success in her friend’s eyes, she knew too get more clients she need to be border in the way her weddings went about.
Lost in her thoughts Pinkie walked right into the wall of her destination. Shaking the haze from her eyes, she stepped into Sugar Cube Corner to get her party planning under way.
Later that night at the soda shop
“I’m just saying that we should all go on a wicked trip to Las Pegasus, you know sense we’re almost all old enough to gamble.” Said a semi drunk cyan pegasus as she took a drink of her whiskey spiked vanilla shake.
“Well Rainbow Dash I don’t know, I-I, um never ben that far east and…”
“Well Fluttershy, (hick-up) we are going becaaause, there are some SEXY StaLlioN’s there with our names on them.” Mumbled Rainbow Dash as she made a sly grin appear on her face from the comment she made; her head nodding back and forth.
“Well you know I’m dating Applejack’s brother Big Macintosh, so, I’m sure I don’t want to go just for that reason alone and aren’t you also dating Soarin by the way?” Fluttershy asked as she raised an eyebrow at Rainbow Dash’s statement.
“Yourrrr, no (hick-up) FUN…” Rainbow Dash complained looking into her cup. Throwing her head back, she chugged down her vanilla shake. “Oh, err brain freeze.” Rainbow Dash moaned.
“Say Fluttershy?” Applejack asked “When yer goanna make it official and tie ther knot?”
“I-um, don’t know, he hasn’t really proposed yet and I don’t know when he will. I hope soon, if not I goanna propose to him, even if it’s not lady like.” Fluttershy replied sipped her non-alcoholic strawberry shake, since Fluttershy didn’t like to drink any alcoholic beverages.
“Well Sugar cube I-.”
“Well darling.” As Rarity butted into the conversation, interrupting Applejack. “I know it’s tough but he will man up and propose and you two will have the most romantic wedding.” Rarity said with sparkly dreamy eyes. “And darling you’re still young, only 22, no? Give it time dearie.” She stated, waving her hoof nonchalantly.
“I guess, um Pinkie, Twilight what have you been up to?” Fluttershy asked looking to her right, while taking a sip of her shake.
“Oh um everything is fine, Princess Celestia is keeping busy ever since I finished my studies and got promoted to vice-sectary of the National Canterlot Library. I’ve been kept busy with political stuff and other book related things. The National Library is getting remodeled so that’s a !BIG! under taking.” Twilight replied, while taking a sip of her caramel and moose shake.
“That’s nice, and you Pinkie Pie?” Fluttershy asked.
“Well you know my birthday is coming up, which all of you know, just getting that set up at Sugar Cube Corner before Friday comes around. Also my parents are turning our old family mine into a museum for some extra revenue, which I’m so excited.” Pinkie stated with glee.
“Oh that’s nice.”
“Well I’ll be, yer family’s finally doing something with that there old mine.” Piped Applejack.
“Yep they sure are, and my sis Octavia and Palamena are coming to visit and help them with the opening day.” Pinkie nodded, before taking a bite of her banana split.
“Can’t wait for it” Applejack and Fluttershy commented.
“We’ll be there.” Rarity and Twilight replied.
“Eerrrmmmm.” Moaned a past out Rainbow Dash.
As the night wore on, the main six started to file out of the soda shop. Rarity said her good byes as she headed back to her home. Applejack got up with Fluttershy as they walked out of the soda shop with Big Mac, who came to take Fluttershy to her home and his sister too theirs. A little bit later, Soarin came to pick up his mare friend which happened to be a drunken Rainbow Dash, passed out on the floor. Picking up the drunken mare, Soarin said his good byes and took off to their house. Twilight said her good byes stating she needed a good night rest before going to Canterlot tomorrow morning. Pinkie, who was the last in the shop, finished her banana split and paid for the bill before heading home for her good night rest.
