This story begins years ago. In a normal house, on a normal night. It had only happened a few days earlier that a new unicorn filly was brought into this world. This story all begins with this normal little family adoring their new, precious gift. Two middle aged unicorn parents, a male teenage unicorn, and an adorable unicorn filly. Everything seems like it will be alright.
A knocking came at the door and the young colt quickly rushed over to the door as if expecting someone. When he opened the door he was greeted by two beautiful alicorn princesses. He bowed down in respect of these twos present as well as kissing the ring of one. He eagerly welcomed both of them inside. Both carefully approached the crib and looked down at the cute little bundle of joy inside.
"She is quite adorable isn't she?" The older princess asked.
"She sure is. We must be the luckiest parents in all of Canterlot." The mother replied.
The young filly alicorn leaned in closer to observe the baby. She kept a cheerful smile the entire time and was completely in awe of the adorability of this filly. The newborn began to giggle in joy and reached her little hooves up, wanting to get closer to the princess. The young princess lifted her up, and the baby hugged her tightly. The princess was in love with this filly and began to hug her back immediately.
"Oh my gosh Shining your little sister is definitely the most adorable little filly I have ever seen in my whole life." She said while cradling and cuddling the filly.
"Yeah Cadence, but you might want to loosen up your grip a bit, so as not to constrict her." He replied.
Cadence immediately realized she was holding her quite tight and the filly began to quietly grunt. Cadence immediately released the filly. But once she did she looked right into her big purple eyes. Cadence began to smile and fall in love with her all over again. Cadence, being distracted by the filly's adorable eyes, then realized her snout was being licked. She then saw that Twilight was playfully nibbling at her snout. At first Cadence found this adorable, but Twilight then bit down hard on Cadence's snout, causing her to scream in pain. Twilight, however, found this funny and began to giggle.
"So you think this is funny do you? Well let's see what you think after this."
Cadence laid Twilight down on her back and began to tickle the little filly's tummy. Twilight squirmed around and laughed as Cadence unleashed her power on her. Cadence smiled down at her and continued to tickle her. Twilight continued laughing and squirming. After a few seconds Cadence stopped and put Twilight back in her crib.
"Oh my dear niece, you always did have a soft spot for fillies." The larger princess spoke.
"I know auntie Celestia, but can you blame me? THEY'RE JUST SO ADORABLE!!!!!" Cadence exclaimed.
Celestia then approached the filly and looked down at the wiggling bundle of joy laying in the crib. However, Twilight's joyful smile faded. She then began to howl when she saw the regal princess. She was unfamiliar with very large ponies and wasn't reacting very well to this one. Celestia decided to fix this. She lifted up Twilight and began to rub her tummy and stroke her mane. Twilight enjoyed this and found Celestia's amenities to be soothing.
"Hush now my little pony. I'm not scary, I'm just larger and different than your everyday ponies. Don't be afraid, don't be afraid." Celestia spoke in a hushing voice.
Twilight then listened to Celestia and began to cuddle her. Celestia then rubbed the filly's back and layer her back down in the crib. Twilight didn't stand back up and let out a big yawn. In a few seconds, Twilight was fast asleep. Celestia the stroked her mane once more and kissed her cheek.
"Sleep well my little pony" she quietly spoke.
Celestia then approached Twilight's parents and began to speak them.
"Take good care of her, I can already tell that this one is going to be very special. Maybe even better than a princess."
Hearing this, Twilight's mom and dad bowed to the princess. Mr. Sparkle also kissed her ring. Mrs. Sparkle found this to be unnecessary and glared at him. Cadence then walked over to Shining and began to speak to him.
"Don't get jealous of having a new sibling that may get more attention than you Shining Sparkle Armor." Cadence teased
"Aw c'mon Cadence I love my little sister and I want to be able to do anything I can for her." Shining said while keeping eye contact on Twilight's crib.
Cadence observed him. Both had a secret crush on each other. But neither knew how the other felt about them. Cadence then noticed something on his flank. It was a cutie mark, a shield with a magic star on it with sparkles floating around it. Cadence was surprised that he had finally gotten his cutie mark. He was complaining for a long time about how he couldn't find what made him more special than other ponies.
"You finally got your cutie mark, how did that happen?"Cadence asked.
"Oh you've finally noticed did you? Well I finally figured out what makes me special. When Twilight was born, I vowed that everyday from now on that I would protect her from any danger big or small. I will never let her get hurt physically or mentally. And I will do anything I can to keep her safe. Forever and ever." As Shining finished, Cadence was giving him a sweet smile.
"Your a good big brother Shining. But tell me this, why were you so eager to get a little sister?" She asked
"Well, after I saw how happy so many people were with all of their siblings and how much fun they were having. It made me feel as if I hade a hole inside of me and it could only be filled by the love of a little sibling. And you never would've guessed how happy I was when I figured out I was getting one." Shining's cheeks then became rosy.
Cadence walked up closer to Shining and they both gazed into each other's eyes. Both then thought that they were met to be together. But neither knew what the other thought. Both of them closed their eyes and puckered their lips. However, before their lips could meet, they were interrupted when the lights and fireplace suddenly went out. They could then feel the house shaking around them.
Everybody looked around in fear and shock. Twilight's parents were the first to react. Twilight's mother ran up to the crib, screaming.
"MY BABY!!!! MY LITTLE TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!"
Twilight had woken up and she began to cry.
"HOLD ON SWEETIE, MOMMY'S COMING!!!" She cried
Mrs. Sparkle lifted her crying filly out of the crib and began to hug her and tell her everything was alright. Mr.Sparkle then cried out for Shining.
"SHINING, COME TO ME!!!!!" He cried and Shining immediately obeyed.
"CADENCE!!!" Cried Celestia as she ran up and held her frightened niece.
The house continued to rumble until it came to a sudden stop. Everybody looked up and waited for the lights to come back on. However, they remained off. The next thing they knew, the house door flew open. Everybody looked over in shock to see what was possibly entering their home. Little did they know, they were in for something much worse than a robber.
A trail of flames began to crawl into the house and moved in a circle. A miniature twister made of fire then began to form. It spun faster and faster and grew larger and larger. The twister was then changed into a fiery silhouette which then shot flames off of it which quickly extinguished. The intruder was then revealed, a beautiful fox-like creature. This creature was very mysterious and didn't look like anything from around Canterlot. This exquisite creature had nine tails and golden fur along with fiery red eyes.
"YOU!!!" Cried Celestia "YOU SHOULD NOT BE HERE. YOU WERE BANISHED FROM CANTERLOT AND ALL OF EQUESTRIA!!!!! WHY HAVE YOU RETURNED!!!!!?????" Celestia shouted at the creature.
"Oh dearest Celestia, I was only stopping by to pay a little visit to my old friend." The creature replied.
"I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND!!!!!" Celestia growled.
"Oh but dear Celestia, we had so much fun in the past. But back then there was one more. Where is Luna? Is she still in exile? 10,000 years huh? And you call me the villain." The stranger replied.
"YOU ARE A VILLAIN!! IF YOU HADN'T HAVE INTERFERED THAT NIGHT THEN I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO BANISH MY ONLY SISTER!!!!" Celestia shouted with a tear dropping to the floor.
The rest of the family looked in confusion at what was happening. They didn't know if they should feel scared or sad. The intruder began to speak again.
"Oh but it was the only way was it not. But since you succeeded in her banishment I guess I will just have to take care of you myself. Drowzee! Hypno! To my side!" She shouted
Everybody looked around, awaiting something to happen. However, everything remained the same. The intruder then looked to her sides to see that nobody was there. This appeared to anger her and she shouted again.
"Drowzee, Hypno!!!..................DROWZEEEEEEEEEE, HYPNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Her voice rattled the sky.
Almost immediately the family could hear panting voices running up from outside. The sources of the voices were soon realized and two more mysterious creatures came into view appearing to be very tired. One was a short chubby creature with an elephant-like nose. And the other was a taller, skinny goblin-like creature holding a pendulum.
"Sorry....gasp...gasp....we're late.....gasp.....gasp......we aren't used to running......gasp......gasp.....so much" they spoke while continually completing eachother's sentences.
The still mysterious leader simply glared at them. But then ignored that they were even there.
"Your men are too exhausted to fight, now what are you going to do?" Celestia asked.
"Very simple actually, I will just dispose of you myself. Now any last words Cel......" The creature was interrupted by the sobbing of a filly.
She then out on a mischievous smile and gazed in the direction of young Twilight.
"Oh, now who is this I may ask?" The mysterious figure asked.
"This is Twilight Sparkle and don't even think about laying a finger on her!" Celestia said in a serious tone.
"My, my you are awfully protective for somebody who was willing to banish her own sister." She teased
Celestia lit her horn and prepared a magic blast. But was stopped.
"Ah, ah, ah Celestia. We can't have any of that now can we?" The intruder knocked back the family and the princess with an invisible, psychic force. Hitting everyone except Twilight.
"Twi- light n-n-no" Shining tried to get up and save her but he was paralyzed. "Leave her alone"
Everyone tried to stand up but couldn't move. The mysterious creature then approached Twilight. She let out an evil laugh. She wrapped eight of her nine tails around the filly and raised the other one up, slowly lowering it down.
"Now to give this filly my little gift, the curse of the nightmare."
The family was screaming at her to stop. But this did not slow her down one bit. Hypno began to speak.
"But your highness, is cursing a baby really the best way to get revenge?" As he finished, Drowzee spoke
"Exactly what I think, this seems low even for you."
"WILL YOU TWO SHUT UP!!!!!???? I'M TRYING TO CONCENTRATE HERE!!!!!!" She shouts
The two henchmen then mumble their apologies. The mysterious intruder then continued to lower her tail and eventually it touched Twilight's horn. A flash of yellow light was produced and it was followed by a glow of black. The tail then touched Twilight's forehead, knocking her out cold. The family and princesses looked in horror upon this as Twilight was released. Tears began falling from Shining, Cadence, and Twilight's parent's eyes. The intruder then let out an evil laugh. Celestia angrily grunted and regained movement. The spell appeared to have wore off of her. She charged at the intruder and managed to knock her back into a wall. This angered her, but she didn't attack.
"It isn't worth it, I'll just leave now. Until we meet again princess." The intruder then maniacally laughed and teleported away in a flash of fire.
"Um Madame you left us behind agai.....oh forget it." Drowzee said
"Looks like we're walking again" Hypno said depressedly
The two then lazily walked off into the night. The spell then wore off of everybody else and Mrs. Sparkle runs over to Twilight. She begins to cry and hug her closely. But unexpectedly, Twilight wakes up and begins to cry. Everybody sighs in relief and even shed tears.
"Who was that?" Cadence asked
"That....was Ninetales. One of the most dangerous enemies I have ever faced in my life." Celestia replied
Shining looks at Twilight concerned and he then speaks to Celestia.
"Do you think Twily will be ok princess?" He asked
"I'm not sure. But many centuries ago I cast a spell on Ninetales. It weakened her magic powers, which is why that spell didn't last so long. So the curse may not have any affect at all." Celestia replied "But I wouldn't worry about it."
The clock then struck 9 o'clock and Celestia showed immediate attention to the clock.
"Oh dear, Cadence we should be going now it's getting late we must get to bed now. We have a busy day tomorrow."
Cadence took three steps forward but then looked back to see Shining's disappointed face.
"Um, Auntie Celestia, would it be okay if I spend the night here tonight?" Cadence asked
"Well of course, that would be fine with me." Celestia answered "But try not to love the filly too much." She teased
Cadence giggled and waved goodbye to her Auntie as they closed the door to the house. The family gathered one final time for the night to one more time gaze upon their precious gift. Twilight looked as if nothing changed. But there was an incredible impact on their family's mind and possibly Twilight's well being. But they decided to put it aside and value what they have now. And that was only the beginning.
