The Destroyer of Knowledge
The Feeling
Previous ChapterI got up the following day, it was beautiful in the morning, with the birdies singing and the flowers everywhere, what more could I ask for; wait, I know, a sandwich! Actually, when I woke up Pappy had already made me a sandwich, it tasted delicious, it had lettuce and tomatoes and pickles and stuff.
Anyways, I needed to advertise my library all over Ponyville today. The buying of this area of land definitely put me in the red of business. So, I sent Flybooks out to hang flyers, this was my initial thought: “If I’ve got my Flybooks, which are quite exotic to these ponies, flying around town, somepony ought to notice, so, I think I should make them put down flyers on walls.”
So I did that. While they did that, I noticed that there was somepony walking around the library. She was a somewhat-light blue unicorn pony with lighter, almost-white hair. Her eyes were a dark purple. Her cutie mark looked like a little wizard hat and a wand with a star on it. I found her somewhat attractive, though I wouldn’t say so.
I walked up to her and asked her: “Is there anything that I can help you with, miss?”
She replied: “The, um, I mean I would like a book on magic, the biggest one you have.”
“It does not matter exactly what it is about?”
“Uh, well . . . no, not really.”
“Then, have you read the wizard Star Swirled the Bearded’s book of spells?”
“No, do you have it?” she said, somewhat eagerly.
“Yes, somewhere.” I said. I used my magic and my horn became highlighted in my blue magic, she was watching me while I did this. The magic floated around, poking through the books to try to find it, I finally did find it and pulled it out: “Here you go.” I said, giving the mare the book.
She picked it up with magic, and then said: “Thank you.” She then left carrying the book, looking like it was hard to carry though, it was a huge book.
It was now time to take Papyrus to school so she can learn and be one of the smartest ponies of all time. She grabbed her saddlebag and came outside to me when she was ready, and we began walking towards the school house. Like most fillies and colts in Ponyville, she was taught by Cheerilee, who was pretty much the teacher of everypony in Ponyville. When we got there I waved goodbye and she went off to help the teacher with something, which she often did.
Now I walked to Dr. Shape’s shop. The shop was a bit odd compared to practically every building in Ponyville. It was made out of bricks and was a basic square shape, in the windows, which were filled in with glass; you could see all sorts of scientific knick knacks. The building was two stories with the second story serving as a storage area and the ground story serving as the shop. Inside there was a counter where The Collector merrily sat and also random knick knacks that weren’t scientific behind him, they were the collections he was willing to sell.
“Good morning and welcome to Shape Co., oh, wait, you’re Spellsworth, never mind.” He said.
“Good day, Collector, Shape’s upstairs, I assume?” I asked.
“Yeah, he’s up there, trying to fix a broken radar thing, I’ve always wondered why some parts of Equestria have so much technology, but he moved here, and there’s hardly any here. . . .” he replied.
“He did it because he wanted to spread technology.”
“That makes sense.”
I then walked upstairs and entered the storage room, it was pretty normal up there. There were machines and trinkets everywhere and Dr. Shape was there too.
“Why, hello there Spellsworth.” Dr. Shape said, briefly looking up from the radar thing.
“Hello, Shape, how are you today?” I replied.
“Good . . . and you? Are you feeling any better?”
“I’m feeling much better after that rest.”
“Okay. I’m sensing that you need something.”
“I swear that you are psychic! And yes, I do. The thing is is that my force field that I had before was simply a sphere with this in the center,” I showed him a small disk, “and I need a force field that’s not spherical and that can be morphed into any shape.”
“I’ve never made anything like it, not even seen one, but I can try, of course. But only after I can fix this radar. Guess who it belongs to?”
“I’ve no idea.”
“This radar belongs to Princess Twilight herself! Finally, technology is becoming introduced to this area of Equestria.”
“I’m glad to hear it! I never thought you’d be able to do it, but you did quite a good job at it, this store is going to be popular soon, I should advertise for you.”
“Spellsworth, I’ve told you so many times! Don’t give out things for free! Some ponies will abuse your kindness!” Shape said, sounding like my old history teacher, though, I have nothing against old history teaching ponies, but he just sounded like him.
“Well, if they abuse my kindness they are only hurting themselves, besides, what can more friendship harm?”
“It’s not exactly friendship, you know.”
“Anyway, I need to get to the library, I’ve been pretty far away from it for a while, and I don’t think that’s wise with what happened in the previous events.”
“Okay.”
“Sayonara, Shape-san.”
“Bye?”
I then walked away, even though my Japonyese probably confused him, but, hey, I had to take some language in school, I also took Spanish. Anyway, it wasn’t just the library that was confusing me or making me want to return there, nor was it the recent events. I could feel something in the air, it reminded me of the opposite of something, kind of like the opposite of the feeling I get when I learn anything new. And that feeling, to be honest, scared me. . . .
