5 years before Elron’s disappearance

The green tree leaves seamed to brush the clouds above as Zoey ran by. Her golden hair flowing as she did, she was followed by her brother Elron following close behind in a game of cat and mouse. The sun peeked through the canopy sending rays of light past the green leaves to melt into the earth warming Zoey as she ran through them , she could hear brother slowly gaining on her she tried to run faster but her legs would not allow her she slowed and turned to see her brother wrap his arms around her. She laughed and sunk into his protective hands, he bent and whispered.

“Not fast enough Zoe” they both laughed Elron picked Zoe up and placed her on his shoulders carrying her back to their house it was a small house not much in looks with a straw roof and an oak logs for walls, but it was home. They entered quietly not to disturb there napping father, he had be under a lot of stress with providing the family with money and wood for the fire. He was sitting in a small chase barely big enough for his wide stature.

The two stepped past him quietly not to alert him of their presents, as the two entered their shared room, one half was full of hunting supplies and a messy bed with varies items on the ground the other was more clean with a painting of a field of wheat and a big blue sky filled with clouds.

“You know Zoe someday you’ll be faster than me.” Elron said breaking the silence. 1

Zoey smiled at the thought of being able to out run her older brother. “But how? You’ll always be bigger and stronger Eli.” Elron paused at his sisters' nick name for him only to smile and laugh.

As the night was arriving the last rays of light soon became shadows and peace filled the small home. Elron laid awake in his bed look up at his knife stabbed into the ceiling as low as it was about an inch or two above his head when he was standing, the marking  of his best friend who once held ownership of  the blade, he thought of his friend and his death, the bear made quick work of him smashing his arm crushing the bone into dust only to rip open his stomach then left, leaving Sam to his last gasps of air only to die moments later. A frown spread on his face his friend had saved his life and at the same time got his taken. Elron traced the engraving the letters in the hilt Sam K. He looked over at Zoey as she tossed and turned in her sleep, slowly the world blackened only to relive the moment again.

As the first rays of light started to shimmer throughout Elron's shared room, his mind still racing about the dream he had
