Battle Scene (RS)
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThis is an idea I've been thinking about for a fairly long time, and may implement in my upcoming story, but here it is now. Oh, and you have to listen to this song at the same time for any effect.
The pegasus pony sat up at the sound of another magic explosion. He was sitting in the trench as the Zebra Division advanced menacingly. His sword was attached to his wing, as were two dozen more pegasus ponies swords. There was also half a dozen unicorns holding their swords with telekinesis. They couldn't fight this menace. The Zebra's had magic and blades, and all they had were swords.
It was hopeless. They were all doomed. Their fate sealed. The regiment commander looked over their scared faces. He had to do something. He stood up, above the other ponies. They looked up at him.
"There ain't no grave, can hold my, body down." he muttered, just loud enough for the closest ponies to hear him. Another unicorn recognized the song and joined in.
"There ain't no grave, can hold my, body down." they sang together quietly, over the noise of the advancing zebra's. The commander started stamping in time. Another two ponies joined in the stamping, and most of the others joined in the song.
"When I hear that trumpet sound, I'm gonna rise right out of the ground. Ain't no grave, can hold my, body down." the commander looked over the trench side. "Well look way down the river, n' whaddya think I see, I see a band of angels, and they're coming after me."
By now all the ponies were singing it quietly and most were stamping their hooves.
"Ain't no grave, can hold my body down. There ain't no grave, can hold my, body down. the ponies stood and sang louder, emboldened, all stamping. The commander nodded at the trench side. "Well look down yonder Gabriel, put your feet on land and sea," The commander lifted himself over the side of the trench to face the incoming zebra's and the rest of the ponies soon followed. "But Gabriel don't you blow your trumpet, 'til you hear from me. There ain't no grave, can hold my, body down. There ain't no grave, can hold my, body down.
The ponies were standing in a line, swords bared, the unicorns holding theirs through magic, the pegasi pointing the swords attached to their wings. The ponies stamped in time, and the zebra's stopped 100 meters away, scared by the sudden bravery of the ponies and the stamping sound, now the only noise on the battefield. They fired a barrage of deadly magic at the line, but it simply exploded on a magical shield erected by the unicorns. The zebra's outnumbered the ponies 4 to 1, and they knew it, so they charged. The ponies met this by stamping slowly forward, staying in time with the song.
"Well meet me Celestia meet me, meet me in the middle of the air, and if these wings don't fail me, I won't meet you anywhere. Ain't no grave, can hold my, body down. There ain't no grave, can hold my, body down."
The zebra's fell upon the ponies, swinging madly. The ponies met their blows and were holding their own.
"Well meet me mother and father, meet me down the river road, and momma you'll know I'll be there when I check in my load. Ain't no grave, can hold my, body down. There ain't no grave, can hold my, body down." Suddenly twenty or so pegasi flew overhead and landed at the back of the zebra's forces. It was over in half a minute. The commander sung the last line of the song by himself.
"There ain't no grave, can hold my, body down."
