*****************************************Prologue*****************************************

Grass grows, birds fly, sun shines, and everything in nature goes its own route to reach its own destiny in this universe we so call life. Everything was in place: the clouds were in the sky, the trees were together in the Everfree Forest, and the land was open, completely empty, and peaceful in front of Canterlot and its mighty castle that stood high and graceful with its lightly purple walls and its fancy golden and violet coated roofs, with pointed tops withholding relics of suns and stars that sat atop the towers of countless windows and doorways, each open to a pathway to another tower of the castle.

Within the castle lived a powerful and majestic Alicorn that possessed a snow white coat on thy figure, elegant wings that sheathed with grace, and a mighty horn on thy crown of intellect and beauty, with a long, flowing mane and tail of colors that shined throughout one’s eyes, not to mention the sparkle of pride she wore on her head and neck, a crown and necklace of the purest gold, each with a powerful gem of violet in its center. And thy dress of snow white elegantly swayed as she walked on two, scouting the castle and doing her duties as Ruler of Equestria. Her name takes one’s breath out of one’s mouth and revolves it around one’s mind, so that one may never forget her beauty and power: Princess Celestia.

Celestia sat in her throne room, signing treaties for other landmarks of Equestria, declaring that they wished to be part of the country. She stood on the “Balcony-of-Voice,” to give the ponies of Canterlot her word of laws and independence. She recited “Equestrian Folktales” every night before she fell asleep, as her younger sister, Princess Luna, a night blue Alicorn with a crown and necklace of blackest night and mane and tale of galactic beauty, rose the moon. And in the morning, Celestia awoke and rose the sun for the day, and everyday. Everything was like a routine schedule. And it had been… for over thousands of years.

Celestia grew weary of the same routines. The only thing that would be different everyday was whether she had toast, cereal, or a cup of flavored yogurt for breakfast. She tried to keep her figure for her ruling. She needed to keep a figure in case of any threat, that way she could be agile and use her powerful magic against it.

Celestia grew lonely after the banishment of her younger sister. Luna had realized that ponies slept during her beautiful night and played during her sister’s day. She thought it was unfair, so she grew angry, and attempted to make it night forever, becoming Nightmare Moon, but Celestia overpowered her and banished her to the one thing she was in charge of, the moon, for one thousand years. Ironic. Celestia realized that by punishing her sister, she had also punished herself, for now they were both lonely. Every night, she would look up at the great moon and see the dust shape the eye of Nightmare Moon. A tear always fell from her luscious eye of magenta.

Not only was she tired of the routine duties, and lonely after banishing her sister, she also grew bored. Recently, she had been getting her duties done a lot quicker that usual, so she had more time to herself. She wanted something a little extra to do, to be in charge of. Something that only she could change, only she could have, and only she could witness, besides the sun of course. Not like more land or anything like that, she already ruled over Canterlot and Cloudsdale, she wanted something within her boundaries of the castle. She wanted… children.

But alas, even if it was her wish, she possessed the knowledge of the impossible, for she could never have children. For an Alicorn to mate, one female must be with a male of the same species, but she was the only Alicorn in the whole country, not including her sister. There were no male Alicorns anywhere. In addition, even if a male had appeared, it wasn’t her time to mate. She was not fertile. With every aspect of the situation, Celestia’s heart broke a little more. She stopped reading the same book every night, she couldn’t read any more books in all of her library, for she had read them all more than once. She just laid in her bed, torturing herself with the thought of never waking up to two little foals running around her castle, laughing and smiling up to her, reaching out for a hug every time. She would be loved by them. She would be their influence. She would be the happiest Alicorn in the universe. But that’s just it, she would be.

One day at winter's end, a storm was brewing in the distance, covering everything it loomed over in a shadow of threatening darkness. Celestia spotted the mighty cumulus and glared. She studied the mighty cloud and realized that it was coming in her direction. With a point of her hand, which she wore a thin silk glove of sparkling gold, she gave an order to the guards to sound an alarm for the citizens of Canterlot and Cloudsdale to all stay inside their homes until the storm passed. With an echo of a threatening horn, the Unicorn citizens of Canterlot listened and knew that if that specific sound was made from the castle, then a mighty threat was coming this way. The Pegasi citizens of Cloudsdale heard the sound of danger and knew as well, but the threat was greater on them, for their town was literally in the sky along with the storm cloud.

Like Celestia intended, every pony stayed idle in their homes. She assumed that every pony could hear the storm now, for it was loud and just over the mountains in the distance. She kept a harsh glare at the cloud. It seemed to grow larger in width as it neared. Thoughts went through her mind like ‘where did it come from,’ and ‘how did it form on its own?’ A Unicorn guard charged into the throne room where Celestia stood at the window. He asked her if they should commence boarding up the castle windows in case of debris. She approved and the guard charged back out. The Unicorn Royal Guards of the castle used magic to create barriers on every window. Celestia left the window and waited for the cloud to arrive.

Wind thrusted everything in every direction, so hard that trees lost bark right off their trunks. Fields of grass were practically torn right from the earth along with some inhabitants like small animals and plants. And the towns were beaten by debris from all parts of the land. The castle wasn’t doing any better.

Celestia sat not in her usual throne, but in a soft, red velvet chair in front of a fireplace. It had been eight hundred and eighty years since Luna’s banishment. The fireplace was where she usually went to look back on things, remember times of good and bad, to relieve herself and try to relax. The storm just outside the castle walls wasn’t making it any easier. She sipped from her teacup that sat on a small saucer with a sun painted on it. Near her was the teapot that also sat on a saucer, which sat on a rolling metal table that was brought in by one of the Royal Guards. The fire flickered and flared brightly, leaving a gleam of yellow in Celestia’s already beautiful eyes.

In the fire, Celestia saw visions of her memory. She remembered the founding of Canterlot and all the citizens that cheered in joy of their new home. She remembered the look on her sister’s face, full of happiness and contentment for the new land they were going to rule, together. But remembering Luna brought in the bad memory of Nightmare Moon. She remembered how terrifying Nightmare Moon looked, how that that evil creature was once her sister. Then she remembered the banishment, using the elements of harmony’s powerful magic to send her own little sister to the moon, so far away that she no longer had connection to her. She was gone. Celestia recapped how powerful she had been to send a whole being to the moon. All that power she used that day, and for punishment. Remembering power brought in another memory when she was much younger, like a child. She remembered the land she lived on, Alicorns as far as the eye could see, male and female. The land of *Majesty** was her home before adult hood.*

She remembered that threat that appeared that faithful day. That horrific manifestation of evil, in the shape of a Serpent that roared greatly and shook and quaked the earth itself as it loomed over the land. Alicorns tried to stop it, but it was too powerful. It was unlike anything they had seen. Celestia and Luna were being protected by their mother, a vanilla coated Alicorn with rose red mane and tail. They hid inside the Majestic Castle, the castle of that land. Through a small window on the first floor of the castle, in the corner where the trio hid, Celestia and Luna watched in horror as the mighty threat terrorized the homes and citizens of Majesty.

Suddenly, the roaring of the Serpent had stopped and turned into grunts and shouts. Celestia and Luna watched as the Serpent was being attacked by two small figures moving incredibly fast. One was throwing shiny pieces of material at the serpent, then as they hit, they combusted. The other was exhausting fire all over the Serpent and striking it with lightning. They worked together with all their power of different tactics of flailing weapons and finally defeated the evil Serpent. It fell straight from the sky and crashed hard on the ground. It laid in a heap of dead scales. Then the two figures that defeated the Serpent slowly lowered down to the ground. Celestia and Luna got excited and wanted to get a closer look at the powerful figures. They both squeezed out of the small window, leaving their mother to yell and call after them, but they kept going. At first they ran, then they flew. They stopped when they could get a better look at the figures. They were both very tall and buff. One possessed the colors of black and bright red, while the other possessed the colors of black and white. They didn’t have armor on, they didn’t even have weapons exposed. One was an Alicorn, by the look of it, but with artificial wings made out of what looked like crystal, and the other was a Pegasus, but had wings of a dragon. Their only ‘armor’ were T-shirts and jeans, mere casual wear!

Celestia and Luna hid behind a rock and peered from it. The mighty figures then performed one last move. They both looked at each other and nodded once. The black and white Alicorn then stuck out his arms toward the Serpent and a ring of light appeared around it. Crystal pillars started growing from the ring and up about ankle height. Then the black and red dragon Pegasus began chanting something in a different language, then took a stance as if he was about to shout and breathed fire over the Serpent, but only a little. With the crystal ring, and the enchanted fire combined, a humungous, bright, red flame blazed upwards and gradually burned the Serpent to a crisp. Celestia remembered the fear she had, she remembered the astonishment she had. She was both scared and amazed. Finally, she remembered the two mighty figures turning around slowly, their gaze traveling over to hers. They both looked down over to Celestia’s and Luna’s eyes and took a step toward them. Celestia saw the red dragon Pegasus mutter something to the black and white Alicorn, but she didn’t hear it. They took another step, and then another, each getting closer to the two young Alicorns. Celestia wanted to run, but she couldn’t, she was struck with fear and frozen, along with her sister. They got closer and closer, close enough for her to see that the red dragon Pegasus had sharp, pointed teeth. Then she saw that—

Celestia’s thought’s were interrupted by a guard popping up behind her.

“Your highness,” he said as he knelt down. He looked up and saw that he had indeed startled her. “Oh, a thousand pardons, your highness, I did not mean to startle you.”

“It’s quite alright,” Celestia said to him with her luscious voice.

“Your highness,” the guard continued, “you have a package at the front door.”

A package? Celestia thought. She listened and could still hear the storm outside. Who would be delivering a package during this ruckus?

“What kind of package is it?” Celestia asked.

“It’s not a package that’s normally delivered, your majesty, we believe that it was dropped off by some pony.”

“Well, that’s strange, show me to it.”

“As you wish.”

The guard led Celestia, who put her teacup down on the rolling metal table, over to the front of the castle, where three other guards, two white and one gray, all Unicorns, were standing in a line together. The gray-coated guard held something that was underneath a white tarp that gleamed off of the chandelier’s light above. The leading guard spoke.

“This is what was dropped off at the door, your majesty.”

One of the white-coated guards pulled off the tarp and revealed a basket. But not an empty basket, not even a basket of goodies and treats, it was a basket with two foals sleeping in it, one green and one orange. The orange one was an Alicorn and the green one was a Pegasus, both about the same size and both male. Celestia stared with wide eyes as she placed her hands over her muzzle in shock. She was shocked and excited at the same time, for she wondered who in the right mind would just abandon two foals in a basket, and she realized that she had two foals right in front of her, in her castle, under her command. The leading guard spoke once more.

“Unfortunately, your highness, there was no identification for who the foals are, or whom could’ve abandoned them. The only clue we found was this letter embroidered on the side of the basket.”

The gray-coated guard carefully turned the basket, trying not to wake the sleeping foals, and exposed the letter. It was the letter M, in a fancy composure with curves and swirls all over it. It was also a bright orange color.

On sight of the letter, Celestia became even more in shock, for she recognized it as the symbolic font of her home land. These foals were from Majesty.

Celestia walked over to the guard holding the foals and reached down to hold the foals herself. She looked down at their little sleeping faces. They looked so peaceful. So relaxed. So cute.

“Shall we take them over to the orphanage, your highness?” the leading guard spoke. Celestia thought hard. It would be the right thing to do, with her being the ruler of Equestria and all, but this could be her only chance to get her wish, to be a mother of two foals. What a coincidence that there would be exactly two foals that showed up. Celestia thought harder and finally made up her mind.

“That won’t be necessary,” she argued. The guards were all taken by surprise, reacting with a pant and a gasp.

“Y-your majesty?” the leading guard asked.

“I shall take them into my own care, and raise them myself.”

This brought a shock to them all. Was her majesty actually willing to devote all her time to raising two foals she didn’t even know, or were even hers?

“Your highness, are you absolutely positive that you want to do that?”

“Yes. They were delivered to the castle’s entrance. I think it’s palpable that some pony wanted me to take care of them.”

Celestia knew what was to come. She would have to feed them, play with them, educate them, and love them, forever. Fortunately, she’d been having enough spare time on her hands, so she’ll be able to give all the attention, affection, and everything that the foals will need. She was going to be the best mother she could be.

She was going to be a princess, with heirs to her throne.~
