The night was quiet.
The air was cold
The animals were gone
And in the middle of an empty plain, was a hunched over mare, inspecting her surroundings.
This mare, was Ms.Twilittle Sparkler, the First. Her mission was to make it back to Equestriandon, where she rightfully belongs.
And in one piece, as well
She took out some binoculars she found on a poor chap who could not quite survive as she did, and surveyed the landscape, watching for all kinds of movement. Her stomach garbled at her, and she sighed. She was beginning to feel lightheaded from the lack of sleep and strenuous amounts of focus she had been putting into the last few weeks. She knew she couldn't sleep while she was being hunted, but she needed somewhere to sleep.
She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes, readied her hunting rifle, and began her trek to find someplace safe. She yawned, as she climbed up a mountain to find something to eat. Some very precious berries would grow on top of the mountains, and they were always good eats. She looked up at the night sky and saw a bright light, almost as bright as the sun.
Twilittle squinted, before she noticed that it was indeed not another sun, but a vortexal rip, carrying a very familiar character along with it...
The light would soon fade to show her something even more peculiar, a splitting image of herself.
::Three Hours Earlier
It was almost done! Spike's new cake was soon to be mastered and be made as the greatest cake for dragons of all time! It just needed one last ingredient...
Diamonds! Probably one of the more tasteful types of gems out there, but not the best. It is however, the hardest of them to find! They like the cold, and Dragons primarily don't... This was going to be the biggest adventure of spike's life! He would need the company of a fellow maiden who researches these fine gems! And who other than Rarity to accompany our young hero?
"Avast!" he says, jumping onto the table. "This cake shall be the GREATEST OF ALL T-"
"SPIIIIIIIIIIIIIKE!"
That...doesn't sound good....
Spike readied himself for whatever could happen, as he went towards the voice that had summoned him forth.
As he went up the stairs, he saw Twilight standing there, arms crossed in disapproval.
"Heya' Twi'! What's u-"
"Did you take those emeralds?"
"W-Wha'?"
Twilight gave Spike another disapproving look. "Did you, or did you not, take the emeralds I was using for my experiment?
Spike rolled his eyes. "What makes you think I took your emeralds, Twi'?"
"Only the fact that I just so happened to have 'lost' them, as you started baking yourself a cake!" She said in a disgruntled tone.
Spike sighed. "Alright Twi', I'm sorry I took them, But this HAS TO BE THE GREATEST CAKE EVER!"
"And this will be the LAST cake ever, if you don't hand them over!"
Spike groaned, as he went downstairs to grab the emeralds. Twilight sighed, as she went downstairs as well. It was time to go back to her studies, and she still had a lot of letters to write...
She sighed, as she sat down in a chair, and grabbed a book from one of the shelves. "The effects of time travel" Twilight read aloud. "By Doctor W....Strange alias..." She said, as she opened the book and began reading. Spike passed by with a disgruntled tone, dropping the bag of emeralds on Twilight's lap. She was too engrossed in the book to care at the moment, as it took up the most possible effects of time travel and brought them into reality.
It seemed like hours had passed in only a couple of minutes, and by that time, the alarm that Twilight set up was ringing, and she placed down her book, content with her good read. She yawned and stretched, as she got up. She now approximately had about an hour and a half to get everything ready...
Then a very peculiar thing happened.
Something dropped. Twilight had obviously heard it but, Spike wasn't in the room with Twilight...
She looked around. "Spike?" She called for him. No answer. She scratched her head, before she began to investigate. "Spike?" She called out again. Still no answer. She finally found what she had been looking for. A book? Strange, she was certain she had placed them correctly on the shelf. She looked up and saw a rat, which scared her, it's strange, red eyes almost staring into her soul. It soon ran away, and Twilight sighed. She had to find an exterminator as soon as she came back...
But this wasn't to be worried about right now, she had to get the experiment ready to go. So she called out for her assistant.
"Sir Spikebus!"
"Yes, Madam Twilittle?" Spikebus answered. He was ready to help the experiment move forwards.
"We have not much longer until the machine is at full operating capacity, correct?" Twilittle asked, as she adjusted her monocle.
"In-dubitably! We'll have you there and we'll have you back with your tea as warm as ever!" He answered with a confident tone. "Your friends should be here in no time! I'll help you pack! You requested a torch with extra batteries, correct?"
"Of course! We cannot be too prepared, now can we Sir Spikebus?" She said, with a small chuckle.
"Just be careful not to get into trouble, will you, madam?"
Twilittle sighed, and nodded. "Do not take me for some lowly foal, Spikebus. I know better then that!" She went off, and grabbed some extra food and tea for the trip, as Spikebus, as quick as ever, came with the backpack, which was already packed, leaving space for anything that Spikebus had missed...
Twilittle bowed to her loyal butler, before taking the backpack, and putting it on. She waited patiently, drinking some tea whilst partaking in a little bit of a flower sandwich that she had saved for the trip. Soon, her guests were at her door, ready to wish her good luck.
She explained that she would be testing an experiment, and that if anypony had required any type of assistance, Spikebus was obligated to come and help. Spikebus was not very fond of having to help anypony other than his master, but then he forgot to add into the equation that everypony he was told to help included the dashingly beautiful Ms.Rare. For her? He would do anything.
As Twilittle was wished good luck, she couldn't help but feel like something would go horribly wrong...
She bid her friends farewell, as they all hesitantly left, all of them issuing a small warning from the heart. They wouldn't want their friend to appear back as some indescribable horror, would they?
Twilittle took a deep breath, before noticing something. A small rat. Strange, Twilittle was sure Spikebus was warned about letting rodents inside...
It stopped in its tracks as soon as Twilittle had noticed the scurrying little furball. It turned to face her, and Twilittle could have sworn its eyes were glowing red...
And then it disappeared, crawling into the recesses of the house. She should call an exterminator for that...
