"Damn! I thought you said it would stall her shield!"

"It is, but it still makes progress, but in bursts"

"If this keeps up we'll need to do the test in the atmosphere, very destructive might I add, if it works"

"Doesn't matter, how long until we can use the Fold Drive?"

"Well, projected estimates suggest in a few weeks"

"We don't have a few weeks!"

"I know, but I have found a way to further extend out life, you know that the fold drive requires a dedicated fusion reactor, we could use the shield we designed for the reactor and upscale it, something large enough to cover the facility"

"What? Like in Stargate?"

"Put bluntly yes"

"And if this shield of yours doesn't work?"

"It will, trust me, it will work"

"How do you know?"

"Because I designed one already, and have done a small test"

"God Dammit, man! Stop doing these unauthorized experiments or I'll arrest you for abuse of research equipment!"

"Alright, alright, sheesh"

"Thank you,  now, you said you already built a small-scale model, how long would it take to cover this entire area?"

"A few days to build the generators, another two to set them up, one to wire them, and one more to activate them"

"One week, huh? Not bad"

"Yes... only problem is that the barrier will be almost on top of them by then"

"Cutting it a little close, aren't we doc?"

"We have no choice, we need the extra time to prep the drive, any less and it will result in drastic side-effects"

"I'm authorizing the building of the generators, don't worry"
