Chapter 1: The Plan

Well, that's the old Soarin. That's how he wants everypony to see him.
We had moved into a small house in between Canterlot and Ponyville so I could be near my Cousins, and he's not too far from work. It's the best gift he ever gave me, not to mention one of the only gifts. Soarin and I have been dating for a few months now, but it feels like years. It doesn't even feel like i'm dating him. I'm his, but he's not mine. I'm his. His toy. His servant. And let me tell ya. He likes to take things fast, to say the least.Well one of the problems is... my exes.. Soarin is... the jealous type, to say the least. If I seem to look at an old marefriend of mine a little too long he pulls me out of the room so we can... 'Have a talk.'
ANYWAYS. A couple of them still flirt with me in FRONT of Soarin... It makes him uncomfortable... And then he makes ME feel uncomfortable. But recently he's been... Err... He's becoming mighty sick of it. I don't blame him.. If stallions and mares surrounded him and offered him coffee and wanted to talk out "When WE were together ya took me to better places than this and blah blah blah..." I wouldn't be the happiest camper. It's funny.... before we started dating, before I even met him... I was always the dominant side of relationships. Now I just.. I dunno. I just hope that-
"Brae? I'm home..."
Ah, I must have drifting off again into my worried head. I turned and smiled at him.
"Oh. Hey Soarin...How was it?"
Soarin paused to stare at me for a few seconds.
There were bags under his eyes. It must be stressful being a Wonderbolt. His eyes were dark, tired. Even though this wasn't really a work day, All the Wonderbolts met up with another team and raced each other a little. Soarin said some of them were betting but I talked Soarin out of it.
But every time he comes home with his eyes like that... it's never good.
"How do you THINK it went?" He raised his voice at me. Oh great.
"So... you guys lost?" Why do I have to open my mouth. Honestly.
"Take a wild guess,Braeburn.." He said through his teeth.
"I'm sorry..."
"Sorry? Yeah well sorry won't get my bits back."
I frowned. "Aww Soarin I told you not to bet on your races."
"You don't TELL me what to do!" He yelled at me and slapped me across the face.
"I-I'm sorry Soarin..." I'm such a coward.
"I don't believe you..." He glared.
I frowned. I have to cheer him up, or I get it.
"Anything Soarin. Anything. Just... no bruises please..."
He smirked. "Well.." He got closer to me, making me back up onto the bed. "This might count as bruising..."
My eyes widened.
"Two days in a row? Please don't, Soarin.."
He groaned. "Fine. But i'm still gonna have a little fun. Besides, i've had a loooong dayyy...." His words slurred as he got up close to me. I could smell his breath.
Oh, even better. He's drunk. Fabulous.
He smirked, and sat close to me... Starting to nibble behind my ear.
I lightly inhaled as he left little bites on my right ear. I could feel him smirking. I quickly pushed him over and kissed his neck. He chuckled, licking it. I squirmed. He laughed at my displeasure. I couldn't help it, I pushed him away.
He stopped to stare at me. "Where's the rope?" He got off the bed.
I started to freak out a little.
"S-Soarin ah'm sorry... Please.. .Just give me... just give another chance and ah can prove to ya-"
"Why, so you can pay attention to me for a day then continue flirting with all your exes the next?" He growled.
"Soarin please.. ah don't flirt with.. Please.. Wha- what can ah do to prove that ah don't care fer anypony but you?"
His face turned really plain.
"I dunno, Braeburn... but I would figure something out if I were you." He laughed.
He walked out of the room.
"Should I...forget about them...?"
I sat there for what seemed like forever. I repeated myself.
"Forget about them?"
...
"They're mah friends... Ya can't forget about yer friends... E-Even if they're dead..."
My ears twitched.
"Why would ya even consider THINKIN' ABOUT..."
No. That's wrong. Braeburn. Stop that.
"But... It would be easier to forget them... If they weren't... There."
I looked at myself in the mirror next to the bed.
"Look at yerself, Braeburn. You don't need this. You were so strong. So brave. Now, every time a bird tweets you jump five feet into the air...all because of him.. getting mad at ME because i'm still friends with some of my exes..."
"I'm gonna go out for a fly... I expect a meal when I get back."
I heard Soarin's harsh tone and a loud slam.
I was alone.
Usually that isn't a problem. Soar being way, it's so lovely. I think from time to time about running away. Maybe spending time at a friend's. Or at the cousins'. Or back at home. But those would be the first three places he would look.
Unless.....
"Ok, BRAE, hah hah..if yer so confident in yer plan... "
My confident smile faded.
"Ah don't want to hurt anypony... no matter how bad any of my exes were.... they can never be as bad as him."
There was this one pony though. Our relationship barely lasted three weeks.
I remember her coming to Apploosa, putting on a show. Afterwards, she claimed that some ponies chased her away from Ponyville, I felt sorry for her, so I bought her a drink. She said her name was Trixie. Told me about her magic, traveling, and tricks she's wanted to try but never have. It happened so quickly... Before you know it, we were dating....
One day, we were sitting under a tree. It was nearly sunset. I had asked her who had chased her away from Ponyville. She told me a unicorn by the name of Twilight Sparkle and some of her friends...I didn't believe her... I told her that's my cousin's friend and she would never do such a thing. She did the whole 'her or me' thing... and obviously I had to pick my own cousin and her friends over a mare I just met three weeks ago. So I get her go.
"...Ah can't pick her..."
Now that I think of it...she was planning to put on a show tomorrow at a park near here... I haven't seen her since we broke up.
"Maybe seeing 'er again before Ah- yeah. That could work out. Hah.. Yeah."
I let out a small chuckle, going into the kitchen, examining the silverware... picking out a large bread knife.
"Heh heh.. This'll work like 'magic.' ... Haha... ya get it, Soarin?... Magic? Cuz' she's a magici-"
I looked at the empty room.
Oh yeah.
I'm alone.
I looked back at the knife. That won't even hurt a fly....
..but maybe that's better. So I won't hurt anyone.
NO. I can't let this go on any longer... Maybe when I get some more confidence, I can finally break up with him.
Well, better get to cooking I guess. Wow. Did I just say that?
