Prologue
The royal family was sitting on a hill not far from the castle of Canterlot. The sun was resting on the horizon, and Wildfire began to lower it as Bright Eyes raised the moon.
"One day, Tia, you will control the sun, and Luna will control the moon." Wildfire gazed up into the evening sky, while Bright Eyes cooed at little filly Luna.
*gasp* "Really, Daddy?" Said little Celestia eagerly.
"Of course. When it is your turn to rule, you will control night and day," said Bright Eyes as she landed from raising the moon and bringing forth night. They fillies had enjoyed the spectacular show, and now clapped their hooves in pleasure.
"Isn't it beautiful?" said Bright Eyes as she to gazed up into the sky which now held a shimmering full moon.
"Wonderful, Brighty. Now come on girls, let's go inside and eat, I'm starved." said Wildfire.
The table was already set when the royal family got inside. There were... Whatever it is that royal ponies eat. I don't know.
Anyway, as they were eating, Celestia thought she saw something outside. Something dark, like a shadow. She pointed it out to Luna, who whispered that they should check it out.
"Mommy, may me and Luna be excused?" asked Celestia sweetly.
"But dear, you haven't even touched your (insert pony food that celestia and luna don't like to eat here)," said Bright Eyes.
"But Mooooooooom!!!!!!!!!!!!" the two fillies pleaded in unison.
"No,” said Bright Eyes sternly, even as she began to leave the table and gestured Wildfire to do the same.
“Hey, how come you can leave?” complained Luna.
"Because I am the queen. You are the princess, therefore lower in rank than I am."
At the fillies questioning looks, Wildfire said, "What she means is that she can boss you around, but you can't boss her around."
"Oh."

"So come now Fire," said Night Eyes, raising her eyebrow in expectation.
"Apparently she can boss me around as well," grumbled Wildfire as he and Bright Eyes walked out the door.

Outside in the gardens, Bright Eyes stood, looking worried.
"Do you think they saw it?" asked Bright Eyes anxiously.
"Honestly, I have no idea," said Wildfire.
"Wait, what was that?" asked Bright Eyes, going from anxious to downright frightened.
"It is time Brighty." Wildfire called to Bright Eyes by her kid name, knowing that it may as well be the last words he'd ever speak.
The Darkness was approaching, coming closer and closer and...
"Mommy, Daddy?" Two worried alicorn fillies had made their way down to the gardens, and were now flying towards Brighty and Fire.
"Tia, Lulu? No go back!" Brighty urgently cried. She startled them, and Tia and Lulu flew closer to their beloved parents.
"What? Why?" Lulu asked.
"Just go, n--"
Fire's plea was cut off by laughter. Evil, dark laughter. The Thing was mere feet away from Brighty and Fire. Tia and Lulu finally saw what had been causing their such distress and anxiety. It was a shadowy cloud, surround the gauge outline of a pony. His eyes glowed red, and as He advanced upon them, the fillies could see sharp teeth and a forked toung in His mouth. Celestia and Luna froze in terror and backed away as their parents hurried toward them
"I'm here." A ghostly, echoing voice came out of that terrifying creature. Even though Brighty, Fire, Tia, and Lulu could barely see Him, he was still a very frightening thing. And just when he was about to grab at Brighty's mane, she darted away and screamed,
"RUN!!!"
The fillies ran as fast as the hooves could take them, with their parents close behind. Fire began to fly, and he swooped down to pick up Tia and take her to the tower. Brighty followed with Luna. But as they were about to land, He shot Fire down with his dark magic.
"DADDY!!" Tia cried as Luna simply gasped as tears filled her eyes. But when they dared to look down, all they saw was the courtyard below. Fire had never hit the ground. Then He struck again. Brighty screamed in agony as she fell towards the earth. Luna, who had just landed on the tower balcony, screamed and reached out, as if to grab onto her mother and save her, to no avail. This time the fillies watched in horror as their mother was swallowed up by the cloud of darkness and evil. And then, as quickly as it happened, He disappeared.
Crying in terror and anguish, Celestia and Luna hugged each other and mourned. Luna buried her tear-stained face in her older sister' chest. Celestia wrapped a small wing around Luna and cuddled her, trying to comfort the traumatized filly, even though Celestia was just as shocked and stricken with pain. Celestia suddenly looked up into the night sky and, remembering what her father had said that evening, began to raise the sun. Luna watched her for a moment and, with tears still streaming down her cheeks, flew up and lowered the moon. Soon after, the sisters became the sole rulers of Equestria, and ruled with kindness and love. But Luna always remembered Bright Eyes, as she did with Wildfire. Celestia did the same. Centuries past before the darkness came again always remembering that day, and remember Him.
(Alternate Description: Every universe has a darkness. Every person has a darkness. A major fault or secret. Could it be that Equestria has a darkness?
The greatest tragedy of Equestria was certainly commuted by Equestria's darkness. Celestia vowed that she would find the fiend who had committed such a crime, and fight till her last breathing second. However, Luna was not as determined. As Celestia's vengeful will began to show more than ever, and the citizens shared her strength, Luna began to back away from the throne. From Celestia. Then, angered by the love and respect Celestia received, Nightmare moon attacked. The darkness of Equestria hit. Celestia knew that after Nightmare Moon, there would be more darkness to come. The Main Six were soon to be victims of this darkness, for it aimed to destroy one being. The Darkness knew that with the destruction to this being would lead to the fall of the Celestian Empire, and He could finally rule. That being was Princess Twilight Sparkle.)
). It was a happy time for the kingdom, and everypony celebrated. But the Darkness was to come forth for his turn to rule. Night Eyes and Wildfire knew that. And so was the greatest tragedy of Equestria yet to come.
